  • android layout-land and screen-rotation handling

    I have layouts for portrait mode (in folder layout) and for landscape one (in the folder layout-land). This screen is located under one of the tabs, so I had to handle screen rotating (after screen has been rotated, no default screen restart occurs). I would like to update view from 'layout-land' when screen rotates to landscape mode and from 'layout' when screen rotates to portrait one. How can I do this?

  • Null pointer exception on .iterator() call

    I'm getting a strange NullPointerException, evidently thrown by the following line of code: Iterator<Note> it = notes.iterator(); I've checked, and at the time the java.util.TreeSet notes is always non-null (with 15 elements). The TreeSet API says nothing about iterator() throwing NullPointerExceptions. What else could be going here?

What would be the best way to do this? Would I read one line from the file and then split each characters separately and transfer it to the new array? Or perhaps read a line, and then read each character and put that in the array? Thanks for any help.

    I'm working on a module to pull data from Oracle into a PowerShell data table, so I can automate some analysis and perform various actions based on the results. Everything seems to be working, and I'm casting columns into specific types based on the column type in Oracle. The problem I'm having has to do with null dates. I can't seem to find a good way to capture that a date column in Oracle has a null value. Is there any way to cast a [datetime] as null or empty?

    I was previously using static variables to hold variable data that I want to save between postbacks. I was having problems and found that the data in these variables is lost when the appdomain ends.     I have a jQuery question, and I really think it is a silly one : i'm a beginner in JS and jQuery... I'm using $("#myLink").click(function(){ $(".myClassToShow").show(); $(".myClassToHide").hide(); }); to hide elements with class myClassToHide as a class attribute and show elements with class myClassToShow as a class attribute. I think this is really easy to understand :) I didn't think it would hide every elements with the good class, but, well, it works. My worry here is that my elements show and hide only for few seconds : the time my mouse click on the link. I would like to make myClassToShow elements remaining on the screen, when i already clicked my link, and myClassToHide elements really hide. For example, on the johann Hammarstrom's website, when you click on "Print", all his works which are not print gone hide, and only the printing one remain. That's kinda what i want. I searched using Firebug, but couldn't find which kind of event he used. I know a onchange is not the correct answer, so what? Could you help me please?

    Events can only return void and recieve object sender/eventargs right? If so then craptastic.... how can I pass a function pointer to another obj, like: public bool ACallBackFunc(int n) { return n > 0; } public void RegisterCallback(Something s) { s.GiveCallBack(this.ACallBackFunc); } Something::GiveCallBack(Action? funcPtr) I tried using Action, but I need it to return some value and Actions can only return void. Also, we do not know what kind of a callback we will be recieving; it could return anything and have any params! Reflection will have to be used somehow I reckon.

    I have written an installer and uninstaller in NSIS which creates and drops an sql database, which is working fine. I have written some .bat and .sql files to create and drop the database and then just call these files from NSIS script. My problem is if I keep this database open in SQL Server Management Studio and run the uninstaller ideally it should give an error message that the database is opened. In my case it shows the success message of uninstaller but dosnt drop the database properly. How can I handle this error in NSIS?

  • When does the @ become usefull?

    As you know, the @ characters before a php istruction suppress every eventual warning, error or notice from being raised. Personally, i dont like this tecnique, becose i prefer to handle those errors, and in a real life, the error must no happen or have to be managed. By the way, i find this tecnique to be applied in many scripts (cms plugins, open-source classes). So, could the @ really be usefull (in this case, an example would be appreciated), or is just for lazy developers?

  • MySQL transaction conundrum

    I need to perform several inserts in a single atomic transaction. For example: start transaction; insert ... insert ... commit; However when MySQL encounters an error it aborts only the particular statement that caused the error. For example, if there is an error in the second insert statement the commit will still take place and the first insert statement will be recorded. Thus, when errors occur a MySQL transaction is not really a transaction. To overcome this problem I have used an error exit handler where I rollback the transaction. Now the transaction is silently aborted but I don't know what was the problem. So here is the conundrum for you: How can I both make MySQL abort a transaction when it encounters an error, and pass the error code on to the caller?

Enter a value between 1 - 4.' testcaseOutput() My question: When the user enters an invalid input, i.e. not a number, I want this function to get called again. So I used the recursive approach which I think is bad design. I use that approach again in the if answer in range(1, 5). Is there any other way to handle this? I need the prompt called again when there is an invalid input. Also, is there any way I can club the two constraints: check whether input is a number and check whether the number is in the range(1,5) together? As you can see, I am checking that individually.
