  • write a program that prompts the user to input five decimal numbers

    - by user312309
    This is the question. write a program that prompts the user to input five decimal numbers. the program should then add the five decimal numbers, convert the sum to the nearest integer,m and print the result. This is what I've gotten so far: // p111n9.cpp : Defines the entry point for the console application. // #include <iostream> using namespace std; double a, b , c , d , e, f; int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { cout << "enter 5 decimals: " << endl; cin >> a >> b >> c >> d >> e; f = a + b + c + d + e; return 0; } Now I just need to convert the sum(f) to the nearest integer, m and print the result. How do I do this?

  • SDL (And Others) Virtual Key Input

    - by David C
    Today I set up the input in my application for all the different keys. This works fine except for virtual keys, for example, caret or ampersand. Keys that normally need shift to be got at. Using SDL these virtual keys don't work. As in they do not register an event. if (event.type == SDL_KEYDOWN) { switch (event.key.keysym.sym) { case SDLK_CARET: Keys[KeyCodes::Caret] = KeyState::Down; break; case SDLK_UP: Keys[KeyCodes::Up] = KeyState::Down; break; default: break; } I am absolutely sure my system works with physical keys like Up. The program queries a keystate like so: if (Keys[KeyCode] == KeyState::Down) { lua_pushboolean(L, true); } else { lua_pushboolean(L, false); } KeyCode is passed in as an argument. So why are virtual keys, or keys that need shift to get at not working using SDL's KeyDown event type? Is more code needed to get to them? Or am I being stupid?

  • Get Form Input via Ajax

    - by user3651491
    I have a jqgrid plugin which I call via Ajax. I have index.php and a getGridData.php. How will I pass form input in getGridData.php via ajax and use it in getGridData.php? I tried serialize but I can't pass or access it on getGridData.php. I need it as parameters for mysql. Here's my code. <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function jgGrid() { $(document).ready(function () { $("#grid").jqGrid({ url: "inc/Controller/getGridData.php"+$("#thisForm").serialize(), data : formData, datatype: "json", mtype: "POST", colNames: ["SiteID", "TerminalID", "TransactionType", "Amount", "ServiceStatus"], colModel: [ { name: "SiteID"}, { name: "TerminalID"}, { name: "TransactionType"}, { name: "Amount"}, { name: "ServiceStatus"}, ], pager: "#pager", rowNum: 10, rowList: [10,20], sortname: "SiteID", sortorder: "asc", height: 'auto', viewrecords: true, gridview: true, caption: "" }); }); } </script> getGridData.php include('../Model/Queries.php'); $cardnumber = $_POST['cardnumber']; $transact_type = $_POST['transact_type']; $fromdate = $_POST['fromdate']; $todate = $_POST['todate']; $loyalty = new Queries(); $get_mid = $loyalty->loyaltyConn($cardnumber); $somedata = json_encode($loyalty->nposConn($get_mid, $transact_type, $fromdate, $todate)); echo $somedata;

  • Comparing C++ input with array values

    - by Security_Gate
    Hey everyone, Over the last couple months I've still been slowly but surely trudging through C++, and I've run into a snag that I've been meaning to figure out. I've tried asking/reading/searching, but I could never find an appropriate answer. Maybe it is simply because the question is sort of difficult to ask. What I'm trying to do is at the end of my program, have the end sequence compare the input value with values within an Array. Do I have to loop a comparison sequence? Is there an easier way around this? #include <iostream> #include <string> using namespace std; int main () { string YesAnswers[5] = {"Y", "YES", "yes" "y"}; string Name; string YN; do { cout << "Enter your name: "; getline(cin, Name); cout << "Your name is "<< Name; cout <<"\nIs this correct? Y\N: "; cin >> YN; } while(YN == YesAnswers); system("Pause"); return 0; }

  • ASP.NET MVC 3 - New Features

    - by imran_ku07
    Introduction:          ASP.NET MVC 3 just released by ASP.NET MVC team which includes some new features, some changes, some improvements and bug fixes. In this article, I will show you the new features of ASP.NET MVC 3. This will help you to get started using the new features of ASP.NET MVC 3. Full details of this announcement is available at Announcing release of ASP.NET MVC 3, IIS Express, SQL CE 4, Web Farm Framework, Orchard, WebMatrix.   Description:       New Razor View Engine:              Razor view engine is one of the most coolest new feature in ASP.NET MVC 3. Razor is speeding things up just a little bit more. It is much smaller and lighter in size. Also it is very easy to learn. You can say ' write less, do more '. You can get start and learn more about Razor at Introducing “Razor” – a new view engine for ASP.NET.         Granular Request Validation:             Another biggest new feature in ASP.NET MVC 3 is Granular Request Validation. Default request validator will throw an exception when he see < followed by an exclamation(like <!) or < followed by the letters a through z(like <s) or & followed by a pound sign(like &#123) as a part of querystring, posted form, headers and cookie collection. In previous versions of ASP.NET MVC, you can control request validation using ValidateInputAttriubte. In ASP.NET MVC 3 you can control request validation at Model level by annotating your model properties with a new attribute called AllowHtmlAttribute. For details see Granular Request Validation in ASP.NET MVC 3.       Sessionless Controller Support:             Sessionless Controller is another great new feature in ASP.NET MVC 3. With Sessionless Controller you can easily control your session behavior for controllers. For example, you can make your HomeController's Session as Disabled or ReadOnly, allowing concurrent request execution for single user. For details see Concurrent Requests In ASP.NET MVC and HowTo: Sessionless Controller in MVC3 – what & and why?.       Unobtrusive Ajax and  Unobtrusive Client Side Validation is Supported:             Another cool new feature in ASP.NET MVC 3 is support for Unobtrusive Ajax and Unobtrusive Client Side Validation.  This feature allows separation of responsibilities within your web application by separating your html with your script. For details see Unobtrusive Ajax in ASP.NET MVC 3 and Unobtrusive Client Validation in ASP.NET MVC 3.       Dependency Resolver:             Dependency Resolver is another great feature of ASP.NET MVC 3. It allows you to register a dependency resolver that will be used by the framework. With this approach your application will not become tightly coupled and the dependency will be injected at run time. For details see ASP.NET MVC 3 Service Location.       New Helper Methods:             ASP.NET MVC 3 includes some helper methods of ASP.NET Web Pages technology that are used for common functionality. These helper methods includes: Chart, Crypto, WebGrid, WebImage and WebMail. For details of these helper methods, please see ASP.NET MVC 3 Release Notes. For using other helper methods of ASP.NET Web Pages see Using ASP.NET Web Pages Helpers in ASP.NET MVC.       Child Action Output Caching:             ASP.NET MVC 3 also includes another feature called Child Action Output Caching. This allows you to cache only a portion of the response when you are using Html.RenderAction or Html.Action. This cache can be varied by action name, action method signature and action method parameter values. For details see this.       RemoteAttribute:             ASP.NET MVC 3 allows you to validate a form field by making a remote server call through Ajax. This makes it very easy to perform remote validation at client side and quickly give the feedback to the user. For details see How to: Implement Remote Validation in ASP.NET MVC.       CompareAttribute:             ASP.NET MVC 3 includes a new validation attribute called CompareAttribute. CompareAttribute allows you to compare the values of two different properties of a model. For details see CompareAttribute in ASP.NET MVC 3.       Miscellaneous New Features:                    ASP.NET MVC 2 includes FormValueProvider, QueryStringValueProvider, RouteDataValueProvider and HttpFileCollectionValueProvider. ASP.NET MVC 3 adds two additional value providers, ChildActionValueProvider and JsonValueProvider(JsonValueProvider is not physically exist).  ChildActionValueProvider is used when you issue a child request using Html.Action and/or Html.RenderAction methods, so that your explicit parameter values in Html.Action and/or Html.RenderAction will always take precedence over other value providers. JsonValueProvider is used to model bind JSON data. For details see Sending JSON to an ASP.NET MVC Action Method Argument.           In ASP.NET MVC 3, a new property named FileExtensions added to the VirtualPathProviderViewEngine class. This property is used when looking up a view by path (and not by name), so that only views with a file extension contained in the list specified by this new property is considered. For details see VirtualPathProviderViewEngine.FileExtensions Property .           ASP.NET MVC 3 installation package also includes the NuGet Package Manager which will be automatically installed when you install ASP.NET MVC 3. NuGet makes it easy to install and update open source libraries and tools in Visual Studio. See this for details.           In ASP.NET MVC 2, client side validation will not trigger for overridden model properties. For example, if have you a Model that contains some overridden properties then client side validation will not trigger for overridden properties in ASP.NET MVC 2 but client side validation will work for overridden properties in ASP.NET MVC 3.           Client side validation is not supported for StringLengthAttribute.MinimumLength property in ASP.NET MVC 2. In ASP.NET MVC 3 client side validation will work for StringLengthAttribute.MinimumLength property.           ASP.NET MVC 3 includes new action results like HttpUnauthorizedResult, HttpNotFoundResult and HttpStatusCodeResult.           ASP.NET MVC 3 includes some new overloads of LabelFor and LabelForModel methods. For details see LabelExtensions.LabelForModel and LabelExtensions.LabelFor.           In ASP.NET MVC 3, IControllerFactory includes a new method GetControllerSessionBehavior. This method is used to get controller's session behavior. For details see IControllerFactory.GetControllerSessionBehavior Method.           In ASP.NET MVC 3, Controller class includes a new property ViewBag which is of type dynamic. This property allows you to access ViewData Dictionary using C # 4.0 dynamic features. For details see ControllerBase.ViewBag Property.           ModelMetadata includes a property AdditionalValues which is of type Dictionary. In ASP.NET MVC 3 you can populate this property using AdditionalMetadataAttribute. For details see AdditionalMetadataAttribute Class.           In ASP.NET MVC 3 you can also use MvcScaffolding to scaffold your Views and Controller. For details see Scaffold your ASP.NET MVC 3 project with the MvcScaffolding package.           If you want to convert your application from ASP.NET MVC 2 to ASP.NET MVC 3 then there is an excellent tool that automatically converts ASP.NET MVC 2 application to ASP.NET MVC 3 application. For details see MVC 3 Project Upgrade Tool.           In ASP.NET MVC 2 DisplayAttribute is not supported but in ASP.NET MVC 3 DisplayAttribute will work properly.           ASP.NET MVC 3 also support model level validation via the new IValidatableObject interface.           ASP.NET MVC 3 includes a new helper method Html.Raw. This helper method allows you to display unencoded HTML.     Summary:          In this article I showed you the new features of ASP.NET MVC 3. This will help you a lot when you start using ASP MVC 3. I also provide you the links where you can find further details. Hopefully you will enjoy this article too.

    Hello, I came across something strange when creating an edit form with MVC 2. i realised that my error messages come up on form sumission even when i have filled ut valid data! i am using a buddy class which i have configured correctly ( i know that cos i can see my custom errors). Here is the code from the viewmodel that generates this; <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<TG_Careers.Models.Applicant>" %> <script src="/Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/Scripts/MicrosoftMvcAjax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/Scripts/MicrosoftMvcValidation.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <%= Html.ValidationSummary() %> <% Html.EnableClientValidation(); %> <% using (Html.BeginForm()) {%> <div class="confirm-module"> <table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="2"> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.FirstName) %> </td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.FirstName) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.FirstName) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.MiddleName) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.MiddleName) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.MiddleName) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.LastName) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.LastName) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.LastName) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Gender) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.Gender) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Gender) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.MaritalStatus) %></td> <td> <%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.MaritalStatus) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.MaritalStatus) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.DateOfBirth) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.DateOfBirth) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.DateOfBirth) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Address) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.Address) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Address) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.City) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.City) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.City) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.State) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.State) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.State) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.StateOfOriginID) %></td> <td><%= Html.DropDownList("StateOfOriginID", new SelectList(ViewData["States"] as IEnumerable, "StateID", "Name", Model.StateOfOriginID))%></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.StateOfOriginID) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.CompletedNYSC) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.CompletedNYSC) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.CompletedNYSC) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.YearsOfExperience) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.YearsOfExperience) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.YearsOfExperience) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.MobilePhone) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.MobilePhone) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.MobilePhone) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.DayPhone) %></td> <td> <%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.DayPhone) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.DayPhone) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.CVFileName) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.CVFileName) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.CVFileName) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.CurrentPosition) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.CurrentPosition) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.CurrentPosition) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.EmploymentCommenced) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.EmploymentCommenced) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.EmploymentCommenced) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td><%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.DateofTakingupCurrentPosition) %></td> <td><%= Html.EditorFor(model => model.DateofTakingupCurrentPosition) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.DateofTakingupCurrentPosition) %></td> </tr> <tr> <td>&nbsp;</td> <td>&nbsp;</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2">&nbsp;</td> </tr> </table> <p> <input type="submit" value="Save Profile Details" /> </p> </div> <% } %> Any ideas on this one please?   • Why does this XML validation via XSD fail in libxml2 (but succeed in xmllint) and how do I fix it?

    - by mtree
    If I run this XML validation via xmllint: xmllint --noout --schema schema.xsd test.xml I get this success message: .../test.xml validates However if I run the same validation via libxml2's C API: int result = xmlSchemaValidateDoc(...) • XNA - Keyboard text input

    - by Sekhat
    Okay, so basically I want to be able to retrieve keyboard text. Like entering text into a text field or something. I'm only writing my game for windows. I've disregarded using Guide.BeginShowKeyboardInput because it breaks the feel of a self contained game, and the fact that the Guide always shows XBOX buttons doesn't seem right to me either. Yes it's the easiest way, but I don't like it. Next I tried using System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow. I created a class that inherited from it, and passed it the Games window handle, implemented the WndProc function to catch WM_CHAR (or WM_KEYDOWN) though the WndProc got called for other messages, WM_CHAR and WM_KEYDOWN never did. So I had to abandon that idea, and besides, I was also referencing the whole of Windows forms, which meant unnecessary memory footprint bloat. So my last idea was to create a Thread level, low level keyboard hook. This has been the most successful so far. I get WM_KEYDOWN message, (not tried WM_CHAR yet) translate the virtual keycode with Win32 funcation MapVirtualKey to a char. And I get my text! (I'm just printing with Debug.Write at the moment) A couple problems though. It's as if I have caps lock on, and an unresponsive shift key. (Of course it's not however, it's just that there is only one Virtual Key Code per key, so translating it only has one output) and it adds overhead as it attaches itself to the Windows Hook List and isn't as fast as I'd like it to be, but the slowness could be more due to Debug.Write. Has anyone else approached this and solved it, without having to resort to an on screen keyboard? or does anyone have further ideas for me to try? thanks in advance. note: This is cross posted from the XNA Creators Forums, so if I get an answer there I'll post it here and Vice-Versa Question asked by Jimmy Maybe I'm not understanding the question, but why can't you use the XNA Keyboard and KeyboardState classes? My comment: It's because though you can read keystates, you can't get access to typed text as and how it is typed by the user. So let me further clarify. I want to implement being able to read text input from the user as if they are typing into textbox is windows. The keyboard and KeyboardState class get states of all keys, but I'd have to map each key and combination to it's character representation. This falls over when the user doesn't use the same keyboard language as I do especially with symbols (my double quotes is shift + 2, while american keyboards have theirs somewhere near the return key).

  • Autocomplettextview filtered by input keys

    - by soclose
    Hi I use autocompletetextview with SimpleCursorAdapter to get data from sqlite. I'd like to get its drop down list started by the entered key. In my autocompletetextview, the list is not shown or filtered by input text. eg, If user enter "an", all text started with "an" will be seen in this list. In Java public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.new); txtPNo = (AutoCompleteTextView) findViewById(R.id.txtSTo); mDbHelper = new DBAdapter(this); mDbHelper.open(); SimpleCursorAdapter notes = fillToData(); txtPhoneNo.setAdapter(notes); } private SimpleCursorAdapter fillToData() { Cursor c = mDbHelper.getName(); startManagingCursor(c); String[] from = new String[] {DBAdapter.Name,DBAdapter.No1}; int[] to = new int[] {R.id.txtName,R.id.txtNo1}; Log.d(TAG, "cursor.getCount()=" + c.getCount()); SimpleCursorAdapter notes = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this, R.layout.autocomplete, c, from, to); return notes; } In new.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:background="#ffffff" > <AutoCompleteTextView android:id="@+id/txtSTo" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="18sp" android:textColor="#000000" android:hint="To" android:completionThreshold="1" android:selectAllOnFocus="true" android:layout_alignParentTop = "true" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"/> </RelativeLayout> In autocomplete.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TableLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:stretchColumns="0" android:padding="5dp"> <TableRow android:padding="5dp"> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical"> <TextView android:id="@+id/txtName" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:textColor="#000000" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/txtNo1" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:textColor="#000000" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> </LinearLayout> </TableRow> </TableLayout> How to implement to get just filtered list?

  • List input and output audio devices in Applet

    I am running a signed applet that needs to provide the ability for the user to select the input and output audio devices ( similar to what skype provides). I borrowed the following code from other thread: import javax.sound.sampled.*; public class SoundAudit { public static void main(String[] args) { try { System.out.println("OS: "+System.getProperty("os.name")+" "+ System.getProperty("os.version")+"/"+ System.getProperty("os.arch")+"\nJava: "+ System.getProperty("java.version")+" ("+ System.getProperty("java.vendor")+")\n"); for (Mixer.Info thisMixerInfo : AudioSystem.getMixerInfo()) { System.out.println("Mixer: "+thisMixerInfo.getDescription()+ " ["+thisMixerInfo.getName()+"]"); Mixer thisMixer = AudioSystem.getMixer(thisMixerInfo); for (Line.Info thisLineInfo:thisMixer.getSourceLineInfo()) { if (thisLineInfo.getLineClass().getName().equals( "javax.sound.sampled.Port")) { Line thisLine = thisMixer.getLine(thisLineInfo); thisLine.open(); System.out.println(" Source Port: " +thisLineInfo.toString()); for (Control thisControl : thisLine.getControls()) { System.out.println(AnalyzeControl(thisControl));} thisLine.close();}} for (Line.Info thisLineInfo:thisMixer.getTargetLineInfo()) { if (thisLineInfo.getLineClass().getName().equals( "javax.sound.sampled.Port")) { Line thisLine = thisMixer.getLine(thisLineInfo); thisLine.open(); System.out.println(" Target Port: " +thisLineInfo.toString()); for (Control thisControl : thisLine.getControls()) { System.out.println(AnalyzeControl(thisControl));} thisLine.close();}}} } catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();}} public static String AnalyzeControl(Control thisControl) { String type = thisControl.getType().toString(); if (thisControl instanceof BooleanControl) { return " Control: "+type+" (boolean)"; } if (thisControl instanceof CompoundControl) { System.out.println(" Control: "+type+ " (compound - values below)"); String toReturn = ""; for (Control children: ((CompoundControl)thisControl).getMemberControls()) { toReturn+=" "+AnalyzeControl(children)+"\n";} return toReturn.substring(0, toReturn.length()-1);} if (thisControl instanceof EnumControl) { return " Control:"+type+" (enum: "+thisControl.toString()+")";} if (thisControl instanceof FloatControl) { return " Control: "+type+" (float: from "+ ((FloatControl) thisControl).getMinimum()+" to "+ ((FloatControl) thisControl).getMaximum()+")";} return " Control: unknown type";} } But what I get: Mixer: Software mixer and synthesizer [Java Sound Audio Engine] Mixer: No details available [Microphone (Pink Front)] I was expecting the get the real list of my devices (My preferences panels shows 3 output devices and 1 Microphone). I am running on Mac OS X 10.6.7. Is there other way to get that info from Java?

  • Report Builder Error (Input string was not in a correct format) when filtering data

    - by JVZ
    Issue: the user is getting an error “The requested list could not be retrieved because the query is not valid or a connection could not be made to the data source.” while trying to filter a reporting using Report Builder 2.0. When you expand the details the message is “Input string was not in a correct format” I verified that when the user clicks to see the filter values the query is being sent to the underlying database (by using profiler). When I build the same report [I'm a server admin] I have no issues and see all the filtered values, which leads me to believe this is a permissions issue. I believe I granted all the correct permissions, see below: Report Server Setup [Project Name] Data Sources Models […other folders] We are using SQL Server 2005. • Parallel.For maintain input list order on output list

    - by romeozor
    I'd like some input on keeping the order of a list during heavy-duty operations that I decided to try to do in a parallel manner to see if it boosts performance. (It did!) I came up with a solution, but since this was my first attempt at anything parallel, I'd need someone to slap my hands if I did something very stupid. There's a query that returns a list of card owners, sorted by name, then by date of birth. This needs to be rendered in a table on a web page (ASP.Net WebForms). The original coder decided he would construct the table cell-by-cell (TableCell), add them to rows (TableRow), then each row to the table. So no GridView, allegedly its performance is bad, but the performance was very poor regardless :). The database query returns in no time, the most time is spent on looping through the results and adding table cells etc. I made the following method to maintain the original order of the list: private TableRow[] ComposeRows(List<CardHolder> queryResult) { int queryElementsCount = queryResult.Count(); // array with the query's size var rowArray = new TableRow[queryElementsCount]; Parallel.For(0, queryElementsCount, i => { var row = new TableRow(); var cell = new TableCell(); // various operations, including simple ones such as: cell.Text = queryResult[i].Name; row.Cells.Add(cell); // here I'm adding the current item to it's original index // to maintain order in the output list rowArray[i] = row; }); return rowArray; } So as you can see, because I'm returning a very different type of data (List<CardHolder> -> TableRow[]), I can't just simply omit the ordering from the original query to do it after the operations. Also, I also thought it would be a good idea to Dispose() the objects at the end of each loop, because the query can return a huge list and letting cell and row objects pile up in the heap could impact performance.(?) How badly did I do? Does anyone have a better solution in case mine is flawed?

  • Can't get jQuery to get focus on cloned input fields

    - by Rebel1Moon
    I have a page that needs to create dynamic form fields as often as the user needs, and I am trying to use Ajax to tie it in to my database for faster form entry and to prevent user typos. So, I have put my Ajax returned data into popup div, the user selects, then the form field is filled in. The problem comes on the cloned fields. They don't seem to want to bring up the popup div when focused. I am thinking it is something to do with when they get created/added to the DOM. Here is my JS that creates the clones: $(document).ready(function() { var regex = /^(.*)(\d)+$/i; var cloneIndex = $(".clonedInput").length; $("button.clone").live("click", function(){ $(this).parents(".clonedInput").clone() .appendTo("#course_container") .attr("id", "clonedInput" + cloneIndex) .find("*").each(function() { var id = this.id || ""; var match = id.match(regex) || []; if (match.length == 3) { this.id = match[1] + (cloneIndex); } }); cloneIndex++; numClones=cloneIndex-1; //alert("numClones "+numClones); }); Here is where I expect to be able to get focus on the correct cloned field and call the popup. The baker_equiv0 id is original code, whereas baker_equiv1 is the first clone. $('#baker_equiv0').focus(function() { \\ THIS CODE WORKS $('.popup').fadeIn(500); $('#results').empty(); // document.enter_data.baker_equiv1.value="test"; THIS LINE WORKS //alert("numClones "+numClones); }); $('#baker_equiv1').focus(function() { // THIS DOESN'T EVER FIRE alert("numClones "+numClones); $('.popup').fadeIn(500); $('#results').empty(); }); Here is the HTML with the form: <label for="baker_equiv" class="">Baker Equivalent: <span class="requiredField">*</span></label> <input type="text" class="cinputsa" name="baker_equiv[]" id="baker_equiv0" size="8" ONKEYUP="get_equiv(this.value);"> If I put this in the HTML code above, it works fine: onfocus="alert(this.id)" I'd also be interested in how to adjust the JS code to work based on the id array created rather than having to copy code for each potential set of fields clones, i.e., baker_equiv[] rather than baker_equiv0, baker_equiv1, etc. Thanks all!

  • Do While loop breaks after incorrect input?

    - by Daminkz
    I am trying to have a loop continue to prompt the user for an option. When I get a string of characters instead of an int, the program loops indefinitely. I have tried setting the variable result to NULL, clearing the input stream, and have enclosed in try{}catch blocks (not in this example). Can anyone explain to me why this is? #include <iostream> #include <vector> #include <string> using namespace std; int menu(string question, vector<string> options) { int result; cout << question << endl; for(int i = 0; i < options.size(); i++) { cout << '[' << i << ']' << options[i] << endl; } bool ans = false; do { cin >> result; cin.ignore(1000, 10); if (result < options.size() ) { ans = true; } else { cout << "You must enter a valid option." << endl; result = NULL; ans = false; } } while(!ans); return result; } int main() { string menuQuestion = "Welcome to my game. What would you like to do?"; vector<string> mainMenu; mainMenu.push_back("Play Game"); mainMenu.push_back("Load Game"); mainMenu.push_back("About"); mainMenu.push_back("Exit"); int result = menu(menuQuestion, mainMenu); cout << "You entered: " << result << endl; return 0; }

  • Accept keyboard input when game is not in focus?

    - by Corey Ogburn
    I want to be able to control the game via keyboard while the game does not have focus... How can I do this in XNA? EDIT: I bought a tablet. I want to write a separate app to overly the screen with controls that will send keyboard input to the game. Although, it's not sending the input DIRECT to the game, it's using the method discussed in this SO question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6446085/emulate-held-down-key-on-keyboard To my understanding, my test app is working the way it should be but the game is not responding to this input. I originally thought that Keyboard.GetState() would get the state regardless that the game is not in focus, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

  • NLP with greatly contrained input and abilities

    - by Mike F
    Hat in hand here. I'm a seasoned developer and I would be grateful for a bit of help. I don't have time to read or digest long intricate discussions on theoretical concepts around NLP (or go get my PHD). That said, I have read a few and it's a damn interesting field. The problem is I need real world solutions, for real world products, in real world time frames. The problem I'm having is right now I'm not sure what the right questions are to ask to get started implementing. I believe this is mostly related to vocabulary. I'll read somewhere, a blog post, a forum post, a whitepaper, and it says, I'm doing flooping with the blargy blarg method, and I go google flooping and blargy blarg, and I get references to more obscurity. It seemingly never ends. So, my question is multiphased. First, more generally, how do I become passingly educated on this quickly? Just in time educated. I only need to know what I need to know to take the next step. I've spent 20 years writing code. Explain quick. I'll get it. (I mean provide a reference to something that explains quickly of course). I'm happy to read the right book, but I don't want to read a book where I read the chapter introduction that explains what floopy floop is and then skip over the rest of the chapter with examples of floopy flooping (because now I get what it is). I also don't want to read a book that goes into too much detail with theoretical underpinnings or history. For example, the Jurafsky book seems like way more than I need: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0131873210. But I will read it if this is the right book to read. (It's also dang expensive!) I need the root node of the expedited learning tree here, if you will. Point me in the right direction and I'll be quite grateful. I'm expecting quite a lot of firehose drinking - I just need the right firehose. Second, what I need to do is take a single sentence, with a very reduced vocabulary, and get a grammar tree (sorry if this is the wrong terminology) that I can do something with. I know I could easily write this command line input style in c in a more conventional manner, but I need it to be way better than that. But I don't need a chatterbot either. What I'm doing needs to live in a constrained environment. I can't use Python (unfortunately). I can't ship with gigabytes of corpuses. I need any libraries I use to be in c/c++. If I have to write this myself, I will. Hopefully, it will be achievable considering the reduced problem set. Maybe, probably, that's just naive. If so, let me know. :-) Thanks in advance - Mike

  • Input string was not in the correct format using int.Parse

    - by JDWebs
    I have recently been making a login 'representation' which is not secure. So before answering, please note I am aware of security risks etc., and this will not be on a live site. Also note I am a beginner :P. For my login representation, I am using LINQ to compare values of a DDL to select a username and a Textbox to enter a password, when a login button is clicked. However, an error is thrown 'Input string was not in the correct format', when using int.Parse. Front End: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Login_Test.aspx.cs" Inherits="Login_Login_Test" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title>Login Test</title> </head> <body> <form id="LoginTest" runat="server"> <div> <asp:DropDownList ID="DDL_Username" runat="server" Height="20px" DataTextField="txt"> </asp:DropDownList> <br /> <asp:TextBox ID="TB_Password" runat="server" TextMode="Password"></asp:TextBox> <br /> <asp:Button ID="B_Login" runat="server" onclick="B_Login_Click" Text="Login" /> <br /> <asp:Literal ID="LI_Result" runat="server"></asp:Literal> </div> </form> </body> </html> Back End: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; public partial class Login_Login_Test : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!Page.IsPostBack) { Binder(); } } private void Binder() { using (DataClassesDataContext db = new DataClassesDataContext()) { DDL_Username.DataSource = from x in db.DT_Honeys select new { id = x.UsernameID, txt = x.Username }; DDL_Username.DataValueField = "id"; DDL_Username.DataTextField = "txt"; DDL_Username.DataBind(); } } protected void B_Login_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (TB_Password.Text != "") { using (DataClassesDataContext db = new DataClassesDataContext()) { DT_Honey blah = new DT_Honey(); blah = db.DT_Honeys.SingleOrDefault(x => x.UsernameID == int.Parse(DDL_Username.SelectedValue.ToString())); if (blah == null) { LI_Result.Text = "Something went wrong :/"; } if (blah.Password == TB_Password.Text) { LI_Result.Text = "Credentials recognised :-)"; } else { LI_Result.Text = "Error with credentials :-("; } } } } } I am aware this problem is very common, but none of the help I have found online is useful/relevant.   • C# : Console.Read() does not get the "right" input

    - by Daemonfire3002nd
    Hi there, I have the following code: The actual problem is the "non-quoted" code. I want to get the player amount (max = 4), but when I ask via Console.Read() and I enter any Int from 1 to 4 I get as value: 48 + Console.Read(). They only thing how I can get the "real" input is using Console.ReadLine(), but this does not give me an Integer, no it returns a string, and actually do not know how to convert String (Numbers) to Integers in C#, because I am new, and because I only found ToString() and not ToNumber. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace eve_calc_tool { class Program { int players; int units; int active_units; int inactive_units; int finished_units; int lastDiceNumber = 0; bool game_state; public static void Main(string[] args) { int count_game = 0; //Console.Title = "Mensch ärger dich nicht"; //Console.WriteLine("\tNeues Spiel wird"); //Console.WriteLine("\t...geladen"); //System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000); //Console.Clear(); //Console.WriteLine("Neues Spiel wird gestartet, bitte haben sie etwas Geduld"); //Console.Title = "Spiel " + count_game.ToString(); //Console.Clear(); //string prevText = "Anzahl der Spieler: "; //Console.WriteLine(prevText); string read = Console.ReadLine(); /*Program game = new Program(); game.players = read; game.setPlayers(game.players); if (game.players > 0 && 5 > game.players) { game.firstRound(); }*/ string readagain = read; Console.ReadLine(); } /* bool setPlayers(int amount) { players = amount; if (players > 0) { return true; } else { return false; } } bool createGame() { inactive_units = units = getPlayers() * 4; active_units = 0; finished_units = 0; game_state = true; if (game_state == true) { return true; } else { return false; } } int getPlayers() { return players; } private static readonly Random random = new Random(); private static readonly object syncLock = new object(); public static int RandomNumber(int min, int max) { lock (syncLock) { // synchronize return random.Next(min, max); } } int rollDice() { lastDiceNumber = RandomNumber(1,6); return lastDiceNumber; } int firstRound() { int[] results = new int[getPlayers()]; for (int i = 0; i < getPlayers(); i++) { results[i] = rollDice(); } Array.Sort(results); return results[3]; } */ } }

  • invalid input by the user

    - by TJL
    hey guys so this is my program, I need to notify the user that if hhe/she enters a letter other than w d b or w that is an invalid request. what ive done so far does this, but when i input a number to the dollars_withdraw or dollars_deposit or account_balance the program will do the transaction but also add the "invalid request" before going back to main loop. how do i change it so the program wont do that for numerical inputs for the withdraw deposit and balance?: // Atm machine.cpp : Defines the entry point for the console application. #include <iostream> #include <string> using namespace std; int main () { char user_request; string user_string; double account_balance, dollars_withdraw, dollars_deposit; account_balance = 5000; while(account_balance >0) { cout << "Would you like to [W]ithdraw, [D]eposit, Check your [b]alance or [Q]uit?" << endl; cin >> user_string; user_request= user_string[0]; if(user_request == 'w' || user_request== 'W') { cout << "How much would you like to withdraw?" << endl; cin >> dollars_withdraw; if (dollars_withdraw > account_balance || dollars_withdraw <0) cout << "Invalid transaction" << endl; else account_balance = account_balance - dollars_withdraw; cout << "Your new balance is $" << account_balance << endl; } if (user_request == 'd' || user_request== 'D') { cout << "How much would you like to deposit?" << endl; cin >> dollars_deposit; if (dollars_deposit <0) cout << "Invalid transaction" << endl; else account_balance= account_balance + dollars_deposit; cout << "Your new balance is $" << account_balance << endl; } if(user_request == 'b' || user_request == 'B') { account_balance= account_balance; cout << "Your available balance is $" << account_balance << endl; } if(user_request == 'q' || user_request == 'Q') break; else cout << "Invalid request " << endl; } cout << "Goodbye" << endl; return 0; }

Now I get the wonderful error Sandbox "Sorry — your last action could not be completed" This is my HTML: <body onload="document.Paypal.submit();"> <!-- item_number should get passed back --> <form name="Paypal" method="post" action="https://www.sandbox.paypal.com cgi-bin/webscr" id="Paypal"> <div> <input type="hidden" name="__VIEWSTATE" id="__VIEWSTATE" value="/wEPDwUKLTkyNTEyNzc0NGRk0LKGvSMTla6LgHpbOsdk7iC0iXE=" /> </div> <div> <input type="hidden" name="__EVENTVALIDATION" id="__EVENTVALIDATION" value="/wEWCALKhatPArLPtrsEAreImG4CweeH+AkCgMPhowcC+NaM4gQC+Y2VqwoCouzSnwEVXI9UvQxqI2UcdQ4SmcSWqfEZNw==" /> </div> <input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_cart" /> <input type="hidden" name="upload" value="1" /> <!-- The following is for itemized PayPal data instead of the aggregated version --> <input type="hidden" name="item_name_1" value="LEADING SKILLS 4/10/2012 6:00 PM Section: Members " /> <input type="hidden" name="amount_1" value="250.00" /> <input type="hidden" name="quantity_1" value="2" /> <input type="hidden" name="handling_cart" value="7.00" /> <input type="hidden" name="tax_cart" value="35.00" /> <!-- STANDARD DATA --> <input name="business" type="hidden" id="business" value="[email protected]" /> <input name="invoice" type="hidden" id="invoice" value="TS-1E8B59A0-B" /> <input type="hidden" name="no_note" value="0" /> <input name="currency_code" type="hidden" id="currency_code" value="USD" /> <input name="shipCountry" type="hidden" id="shipCountry" /> <input type="hidden" name="return" value="http://rockclimbing.venueblue.com/Gateway/paypal/Complete.aspx?id=db86c0bf-beb8-4e37-b495-bed1d3e7e6f3" /> <input name="cancel_returnUrl" type="hidden" id="cancel_returnUrl" value="http://rockclimbing.venueblue.com/ShoppingCart.aspx" /> <input type="hidden" name="cn" value="How did you hear about us?" /> <input name="custom" type="hidden" id="custom" value="db86c0bf-beb8-4e37-b495-bed1d3e7e6f3" /> <input name="notify_url" type="hidden" id="notify_url" value="http://rockclimbing.venueblue.com/Gateway/Paypal/IPN.aspx" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit Payment Info" style="display:none;" /> Processing Order.... </form> </body> Anyone have a clue what happened?

  • String Vector program exits before input

    - by kylepayne
    So, I have a project that must add, delete, and print the contents of a vector... the problem is that, when run the program exits before I can type in the string to add to the vector. I commented the function that that portion is in. Thanks! #include <iostream> #include <cstdlib> #include <vector> #include <string> using namespace std; void menu(); void addvector(vector<string>& vec); void subvector(vector<string>& vec); void vectorsize(const vector<string>& vec); void printvec(const vector<string>& vec); void printvec_bw(const vector<string>& vec); int main() { vector<string> svector; menu(); return 0; } //functions definitions void menu() { vector<string> svector; int choice = 0; cout << "Thanks for using this program! \n" << "Enter 1 to add a string to the vector \n" << "Enter 2 to remove the last string from the vector \n" << "Enter 3 to print the vector size \n" << "Enter 4 to print the contents of the vector \n" << "Enter 5 ----------------------------------- backwards \n" << "Enter 6 to end the program \n"; cin >> choice; switch(choice) { case 1: addvector(svector); break; case 2: subvector(svector); break; case 3: vectorsize(svector); break; case 4: printvec(svector); break; case 5: printvec_bw(svector); break; case 6: exit(1); default: cout << "not a valid choice \n"; // menu is structured so that all other functions are called from it. } } void addvector(vector<string>& vec) { string line; int i = 0; cout << "Enter the string please \n"; getline(cin, line); // doesn't prompt for input! vec.push_back(line); } void subvector(vector<string>& vec) { vec.pop_back(); return; } void vectorsize(const vector<string>& vec) { if (vec.empty()) { cout << "vector is empty"; } else { cout << vec.size() << endl; } return; } void printvec(const vector<string>& vec) { for(int i = 0; i < vec.size(); i++) { cout << vec[i] << endl; } return; } void printvec_bw(const vector<string>& vec) { for(int i = vec.size(); i > 0; i--) { cout << vec[i] << endl; } return; }

  • while(true) and loop-breaking - anti-pattern?

    - by KeithS
    Consider the following code: public void doSomething(int input) { while(true) { TransformInSomeWay(input); if(ProcessingComplete(input)) break; DoSomethingElseTo(input); } } Assume that this process involves a finite but input-dependent number of steps; the loop is designed to terminate on its own as a result of the algorithm, and is not designed to run indefinitely (until cancelled by an outside event). Because the test to see if the loop should end is in the middle of a logical set of steps, the while loop itself currently doesn't check anything meaningful; the check is instead performed at the "proper" place within the conceptual algorithm. I was told that this is bad code, because it is more bug-prone due to the ending condition not being checked by the loop structure. It's more difficult to figure out how you'd exit the loop, and could invite bugs as the breaking condition might be bypassed or omitted accidentally given future changes. Now, the code could be structured as follows: public void doSomething(int input) { TransformInSomeWay(input); while(!ProcessingComplete(input)) { DoSomethingElseTo(input); TransformInSomeWay(input); } } However, this duplicates a call to a method in code, violating DRY; if TransformInSomeWay were later replaced with some other method, both calls would have to be found and changed (and the fact that there are two may be less obvious in a more complex piece of code). You could also write it like: public void doSomething(int input) { var complete = false; while(!complete) { TransformInSomeWay(input); complete = ProcessingComplete(input); if(!complete) { DoSomethingElseTo(input); } } } ... but you now have a variable whose only purpose is to shift the condition-checking to the loop structure, and also has to be checked multiple times to provide the same behavior as the original logic. For my part, I say that given the algorithm this code implements in the real world, the original code is the most readable. If you were going through it yourself, this is the way you'd think about it, and so it would be intuitive to people familiar with the algorithm. So, which is "better"? is it better to give the responsibility of condition checking to the while loop by structuring the logic around the loop? Or is it better to structure the logic in a "natural" way as indicated by requirements or a conceptual description of the algorithm, even though that may mean bypassing the loop's built-in capabilities?
