  192.168.3.1(ASA) - 192.168.2.1(ASA) - ( internet ) - 192.168.1.1(ASA) DomainController, FS, Exchange 192.168.0.1(ASA) - above is a rough idea what my network setup looks like. each internal ip (192.168.x.x) is located behind an ASA. Each location has a different gateway for the internet. They all talk to the 192.168.1.1 network for dns, dhcp, dc, exchange and so on. They can only see the 192.168.1.1, they can not see each other. In my Static Routes on my 192.168.1.1 ASA, should i have them configure as follows? example: 192.168.x.x 255.255.255.0 Locations_Internet_Gateway_IP OR 192.168.x.x 255.255.255.0 Main_Locations_Internet_Gateway_IP not sure which configurtation is correct, thanks in advance for any help!

• Windows Remote-App Server 2012 Office 2013 User Settings not saved

  I have a Windows Server 2012 with RemoteApps enabled. It's running the latest Patches etc. It has Office 2013 installed and Excel and Word are shared to all users. Now I got the Problem that after each Reboot all User Settings are lost. I have a few users who pin previously opened Documents so they dont need to remember all Paths and those are all gone after Reboot. Also last opened Documents is empty and after a Server reboot it brings the office 2013 Window for First time setup where it asks if you want to connect to skydrive and all that. In the RemoteApps Collection I enabled a Userprofile-Drive 100GB drive E: for Storing User profile data. There is a Domain of course and there is no GPO Preventing the user from Storing settings etc. We also got an older Terminal Server 2003 in the same Domain where this is not happening. Any ideas why this is happening that all the Settings are lost after Reboot?

• Building a Media Center PC with Comcast Cable...?

  Alright - so this might be a stupid question but I've never been all that much into TV. I currently have Comcast cable. I've just got the 'basic' 2-60 package or whatever; I've just always plugged the cable into the back of my TV. I've never had a cable box. Recently, Comcast has been pulling channels off of my line-up. Most recently, the stole the TV Guide channel from me. I'm told this is part of a push to get customers to switch to their digital line-up. But, I'm also told it requires some sort of digital receiver for each TV you've got. I don't want to buy a bunch of these digital receivers and I don't want to pay the monthly rental fee...but I have heard of how awesome media center PCs are and some really cool things they can do. And, I've got loads of PC parts sitting around. So, can someone guide me through this a bit? Are there computer video cards or TV tuners that are going to work with Comcast's digital cable? What kind of price range are we looking at?

• Why a 10 years old software still is so slow even today?

  I just noted this question due to a game (which happens to be Diablo 2), but the matter of fact is: why is my brand new mac book pro, made in 2009 with latest technology (tho it's the cheapest one) can't rival my computer which used to run this much faster back in 2000? Really, it was much faster on my AMD K6 450 back in those days, and I could even run two clients at same time with no slow down. I've always had the feeling this machine was slow, but this is a very odd way to attest it. Granted, the machine is smaller, runs on wifi and "boots" way faster thanks to sleep mode. But other than that, what have we evolved after all?! I'm pretty sure this shouldn't be graphical card's fault. Sure if I buy latest technology it will run fast, and probably most people here can confirm this and won't even understand my question. But the thing is, all the hardware is supposedly much faster and better than the stuff from 10 years ago. The software and operating system became more complex, but also more well refined. Now I'm trying a piece of software that is actually 10 years old and it's not getting any better results! Why?

  I want to use the WMI command line tool (wmic) to get information about windows computers on the network and output it as valid xml. However, I can't seem to find the right way to do this as the outputted xml currently contains invalid tokens for which I think I should use the /TRANSLATE:basicxml switch. The command: wmic /NODE:"tech-demo" /IMPLEVEL:Impersonate /USER:MyUser /PASSWORD:MyPassword /PRIVILEGES:DISABLE /AUTHLEVEL:Pkt /AUTHORITY:"ntlmdomain:companydomain.local" PATH Win32_LogicalDisk GET * /FORMAT:rawxml This command runs but returns invalid xml tokens ('<' and '' I think? edit: it appears to fail parsing at ‹) When I add the translate switch I get the message: Can not use credentials for local connections a bit strange that it tries to query the local pc when I add the switch.. Help would be greatly appreciated.

• Switch computer off automatically when the internet is disconnected

  Is there any free software that will detect the status of internet and shutdown the system when the internet disconnects? Or (more generally) can something run a task when the internet disconnects, and I can route it to shutdown the machine? I am downloading things overnight. But my problem is that sometimes the internet connection will be disconnected in the middle of the night, so there is no point in keeping the system running the rest of the night. So I need to avoid this problem by detecting the net connectivity.

  I have a laptop which occasionally uses Ethernet and most of the time WiFi. Now I want to forward a port in the router so that it always points to my current IP. I'm likely to get different IPs from time to time and I can't really use a dedicated IP for the machine since the IPs are assigned by MAC address and the wireless card has a different MAC address than the Ethernet port. I'm using a NetGear CG3100 router.

  I've three questions. Is it better/faster/optimal to set up your server's preferred and alternate DNS servers in your OS's network settings or in your router settings? Will it cause problems if it is set up in both places, both pointing to the same IPs? I am running Windows and I have my network assign a static IP to one of my computers. This doesn't allow me to obtain the DNS server addresses from my router automatically. Is there an IP I can put in that will cause it to take the DNS server addresses from the router?

• How to dump remote database without mysqldump?

  I want to dump the database on my remotely hosted site in regular intervals using a shell script. Unfortunately the server is locked down pretty tight, has no mysqldump installed, binary files can't be executed by normal users/in home directories (so I can't "install" it myself) and the database lives on a separate server, so I can't grab the files directly. The only thing I can do is log into the webserver via SSH and establish a connection to the database server using the mysql command line client. How can I dump the contents to a file a la mysqldump in SQL format? Bonus: If possible, how can I dump the contents directly to my end of the SSH connection?

  I followed these instructions to create self-signed ssl: http://www.visualwin.com/SelfSSL/ (I opened SelfSSL and typed selfssl /T) When I access https: //localhost/ than it works, but when I try to access it remotely (i set up my router to port forward to localhost), for example https: //myip the page does not load. Also, I noticed one other thing. When I access localhost locally then I am asked to enter user/pass, but if I access remotely the I get the following warning: Under Construction The site you were trying to reach does not currently have a default page.   I have a Mac (OS X 10.5) that I would like to connect to a dedicated/isolated Internet connection (one that is not connected to the LAN), and a LAN. The LAN is set up with its own, separate, Internet connection which is shared by several dozen computers (and is quite slow). I want to set it up so that the Mac uses its own dedicated Internet connection (on a different account with a different company) for its Internet access, but can still access the local area network as well. How can I configure the Mac & the network to allow this?

There's no firewall blocking on the pc I am trying to connect from.   We've got a Force10 S60 switch to replace an older Cisco. I can't find a way to give the switch itself an IP address on the local VLAN so I can ssh to it. The config guide talks about using either a management interface on a separate management network or dedicating e.g. a gigabit port as a management port with a dedicated IP address. Ideally I would like to do what we do currently with the Cisco switches, which is in effect give the entire switch an IP so it can be reached from any host on the same VLAN without having to use up a physical port on the switch or physically connect the management port to another device. Is this possible with the S60 and if so, how would you give it, say the address 10.0.1.1 in vlan 10 (10.0.1.1/24)? Thanks!!!

  There is a file server in my office that is not connected to my office LAN. In this server there are folders that are shared. This server is connected to a switch and a wireless router. Everyone who wants to access this server uses wireless network connection. They log in to this server by providing user name and password registered to the server. Some people can log in to my office file server by providing user name in (the server name)/(user name) format, while other must use (the server IP address)/(user name) format. Why is it like this? I need everyone can access the file server by providing user name in (the server name)/(user name) format. I have tried to change the %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file, as some suggested, but it won't work. Any other suggestion?

• Remote logging for multiple Apache virtual hosts using syslog-ng

  I'm running a couple Apache web servers that each have 4-8 separate virtual hosts on each of them. I'm trying to setup a dedicated log server that stores each virtual host access and errors logs in a separate directory for that virtual host. For example on the logging server, /var/log/remove/10.0.0.2/virtualhost1 contains access_log and error_log /var/log/remove/10.0.0.2/virtualhost2 contains access_log and error_log /var/log/remove/10.0.0.3/virtualhost3 contains access_log and error_log and so on... Right now I have it split up by host but I can't figure out how to do it additionally by virtual host. Here are the relevant lines from the logging server's syslog-ng.conf source r_src { tcp(ip("0.0.0.0") port(5140)); }; destination r_all { file("/opt/splunk/logs/$HOST"); }; log { source(r_src); destination(r_all); }; Any help would be appreciated.   Hi, Every time I turn on my PC the viewport isn't aligned correctly on the screen - there is always a black strip on the right hand side. This is not a big issue as it can be resolved by pressing the menu button on the screen and doing a factory reset. However it is irritating having to do it every time. I am using a flat screen monitor with vga connections. The weird thing it never used to happen before with the tower Im using. Is potentially out of date drivers a problem? Thanks.

  We run a SVN repository. Some of our more advanced users need to be able to perform some SVN administration without relying on the system administrator. They need to be able to do things like create SVN repositories, delete SVN repositories,, and perform commands like 'svnadmin dump' and 'svnadmin load'. We'd like to avoid SSH access on these FreeBSD machines, and would rather provide a service interface through a Web UI. I'm looking for a simple script (or a small number of scripts) which use Perl or PHP. I found svnadmin or svnadmin.pl, but was hoping to find something with a larger user community or which has been recommended by others. It looks like Trac allows SVN administration, but comes with may more features then we need.

• windows 2003 remote desktop configuration - "Active session limit" greyed out

  I have a terminal server which works fine except for one thing: users are logged off after 2 hours, regardless of activity. I have Override user settings checked in the appropriate control window, and "End a disconnected session: Never" is set. But, I found the "Active session limit" is greyed out so I can't change it, and is set to 2 hours.
