• How to show scrollbars in TScrollBox after it has been made visible again?

  Hi, I've ran into one small problem. I am dynamicaly generating some controls and place them on a TScrollbox component. But i noticed that if scrollbox is visible, user can clearly see each of the controls being created and placed. So it looksl ike lots of work is being done and it is slow. I hid the scrollbox and generated all the controls on it, which took much less time and no flickering and alike. But here's the problem. When i unhide the scrollbox, its' scrollbar doesn't appear untill i actually resize the form. (The alignment of scrollbox is alClient) Any ideas on how to fix this? Tried repainting, but it didn't work. Refresh didn't work either. Thank you

Like in one screen has treeview on left side,gridview with paging in the middle and 4 buttons at right side. the controls are properly appears when the form is in maximize state. but if i minimize it the controls are not properly fits in the screen. i tried with different different tricks like table layout.. in dat i added panel...etc.. but i could not solve the problem. However, when adding controls which themselves contain a scriptmanagerProxy we run into the problem that the newed up Page object doesn't contain either a ScriptManager or the HtmlForm in which the ScriptManager needs to run. • Get clientid in user control from external javascript file

  Hello, I am developing a user control (ascx) in ASP.NET which uses javascript for manipulating controls. Currently the javascript code is inlined and uses <%= somecontrol.ClientID %> to get the control it needs. I want to put the javascript file in external file but from external file I cannot use the above syntax for retrieving controls. I have read about possible solutions in this and this answers but the problem is that the user control can be placed multiple times on page. This means that the Controls array (mentioned in the answers) will be rendered several times with different items. As a result the script will not be able to retrieve the id it needs. If I put <%= ClientId %> in the name of array that holds items then I will have the same problem as I am trying to solve. Any ideas?

  Hi guys, I was trying use/test video tag of HTML-5.   Hi, I engadged a problem with inherited Controls in WinForms, and need some advice on it. I do use a base class for items in a List (selfmade GUI list made of a panel) and some inherited controls that are for each type of data that could be added to the list. There was no problem with it, but I know found out, that it would be right, to make the base-control an abstract class, since it has methods, that need to be implemented in all inherited controls, called from the code inside the base-control, but must not and can not be implemented in the base class. When I mark the base-control as abstract, the VS2008 Designer refuses to load the window. Is there any way to get the Designer work with the base-control made abstract?

• How do I pre-empt IIS StaticFileHandler with my own HttpHandler

  Hi there, I'm building a website referencing an assembly that contains several js scripts as embedded resources, some controls which use those scripts and a 'HttpResourcesHandler' that knows how to retrieve those embedded scripts when asked for them. In web.config I have an entry in the section that reads <add verb="*" path="/embedded/controlscripts/*" validate="false" type="CWeb.Controls.Web.HttpResourcesHandler, CWeb.Controls.EditBox" /> This control adn the website work absolutely fine when debugging with the Visual Studio web development server, but if I then switch the website to run under IIS (v7 - I'm running Vista and there appears to be no problem with debugging the site using IIS 5 or 6), the control can no longer access the scripts. I get a HTTP 404.0 error screen indicating the StaticFileHandler cannot find the file. I know that - it's embedded. So the StaticFileHandler appears to be grabbing the request for the script before my own and returning a 404. How do I tell IIS to use my own resource handler for the embedded/controlscripts directory rather than the staticfilehandler? I'm running the website in classic mode by the way.

• Testing complex entities

  I've got a C# form, with various controls on it. The form controls an ongoing process, and there are many, many aspects that need to be right for the program to run correctly. Each part can be unit tested (for instance, loading some coefficients, drawing some diagnostics) but I often run into problems that are best described with an example: "If I click here, then here, then change this, then re-open the form, then click here, it crashes or produces an error" I've tried my best to use common code organisational ideas (inheritance, DRY, separation of concerns) but there never seems to be a way to test every single path, and inevitably, a form with several controls will have a huge number of ways to execute. What can I read (preferably online) that addresses this kind of issue, and is there a (non-generic) term for it. This isn't a specific problem I'm having, but one that creeps up on me, especially with WinForms.

• Access a content control in C# when using Master Pages

  Good day everyone, I am building a page in ASP.NET, and using Master Pages in the process. I have a Content Place Holder name "cphBody" in my Master Page, which will contain the body of each Page for which that Master Page is the Master Page. In the ASP.NET Web page, I have a Content tag (referencing "cphBody") which also contains some controls (buttons, Infragistics controls, etc.), and I want to access these controls in the CodeBehind file. However, I can't do that directly (this.myControl ...), since they are nested in the Content tag. I found a workaround with the FindControl method. ContentPlaceHolder contentPlaceHolder = (ContentPlaceHolder) Master.FindControl("cphBody"); ControlType myControl = (ControlType) contentPlaceHolder.FindControl("ControlName"); That works just fine. However, I am suspecting that it's not a very good design. Do you guys know a more elegant way to do so? Thank you! Guillaume Gervais.

The problem is that using the splitter is very sluggish. i would expect that a modern 2 GHz computer can re-display the form as fast as a human can push the mouse around. But that's definitely not the case, and it takes about 200-300 ms before the form is fully re-adjusted. The form has about 100 visual controls on it, no code, or custom controls. How do i go about tracing who's the cause of the sluggishness?

• Programming issue while applying text to the third party control.

  Hello I have used some third party controls in my windows application. There is a snippet which is being used in our code which re-initializes all the .text property of all the controls on the form. Everything works fine except for a control. This control is similar to the Windows Panel except for it has a dropdown appearance. This control has .Caption property instead of .Text property associated to it. This causes the problem whenever i use such codes foreach (Control oControl in this.Controls) { if (oControl is DropDownPanel) { { oControl.Text = rm_ResourceManager.GetString(oControl.Name + ".Text"); } } } The text is not set here for the DropDownPanel control in the above method. Since .Text is not available for DropDownPanel control. I cannot do the following either .. ((DropDownPanel)oControl).Caption = rm_ResourceManager.GetString(oControl.Name + ".Text"); Cos it shall throw exception if i try to cast oControl with that of DropDownPanel Any ideas how can i overcome such a condition.   I've just discovered a bug in my app, it looks like a Flash player bug, i would like to know if anyone has found a workaround or something. I've some radio buttons groups in my app. If I press the arrow keys while holding the spacebar pressed, it ends up triggering TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at fl.controls::LabelButton/drawIcon() at fl.controls::LabelButton/draw() at fl.controls::RadioButton/draw() at fl.core::UIComponent/callLaterDispatcher() If found this thread that describes my same situation. Do you think there's any workaround for this? Is it really a flash bug?

  I have developed a web application (ASP.NET Web Forms). One of my customer has very restrictive policies. When he accesses the web page, IE shows this message: Your security settings do not allow Web sites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. As far as I know, we don't use ActiveX controls on our page. I did a "View Souce" and did not find anything suspect. How can I find what part of my page refers to an ActiveX. The application uses jQuery and a few jQuery plug-ins. Is there a tool/add-in like "Fire Bug" that I can use to list the ActiveX controls referred on a page?

  I know to never trust user input, since undesirable input could be compromise the application's integrity in some way, be it accidental or intentional; however, is there a case for calling Page.IsValid even when no validation controls are on the page (again, I know its bad practice to be trusting user input by omitting validation)? Does Page.IsValid perform any other kinds of validation? I looked at MSDN, and the docs seem to suggest that Page.IsValid is only effective if there are validation controls on the page, or the Page.Validate method has been called. A friend of mine suggested that I always check Page.IsValid in the button click handlers every time even if there are no validation controls or explicit Page.Validate calls. Thanks for any advice!

  I have a Table and a Button. Table's cells have controls LiteralControl and CheckBox. I check some fields and then by click on button i remove these fields from database. On event Page_PreRender i clear Table and then fill it with updated data. Then it shows me Table with updated data. But if i check fields of table again and do a click on a button it wont do what i expected. In Page_Load event i see that it dont save properties of controls. Checked CheckBox controls appears as unchecked.

• BindableAttribute, Combobox, Selectedvalue property - WinForms

  I am deriving from combobox (WinForms) and am providing a new implementation for the Selectedvalue property. It works fine as is, but any change to the selectedvalue property is not updating other controls bound to the same "binding context" to change their values accordingly. I did try adding the BindableAttribute(true) to the property, but still it does nottrigger the change in value to the other linked controls. The control's DataBindings.add(...) is all set up. And other controls are also bound to the same data filed on the same datasource. Any ideas what i am doing wrong.
