  • lxc containers fail to autoboot in 14.04 trusty using 'lxc.start.auto = 1'

    - by user273046
    In trusty 14.04 containers fail to autoboot despite all settings being set as 14.04 requires. They show all as STOPPED I have correctly configured 2 LXC containers: calypso encelado They run perfectly if I run sudo lxc-autostart then sudo lxc-ls --fancy results in: ubuntu@saturn:/etc/init$ sudo lxc-ls --fancy NAME STATE IPV4 IPV6 AUTOSTART calypso RUNNING 192.168.1.161 - YES encelado RUNNING 192.168.1.162 - YES The problem is trying to run them at boot. I have at: /var/lib/lxc/calypso/config: # Template used to create this container: /usr/share/lxc/templates/lxc-download # Parameters passed to the template: # For additional config options, please look at lxc.conf(5) # Distribution configuration lxc.include = /usr/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.common.conf lxc.arch = x86_64 # Container specific configuration lxc.rootfs = /var/lib/lxc/calypso/rootfs lxc.utsname = calypso # Network configuration lxc.network.type = veth lxc.network.flags = up #lxc.network.link = lxcbr0 lxc.network.link = br0 lxc.network.hwaddr = 00:16:3e:64:0b:6e # Assegnazione IP Address lxc.network.ipv4 = 192.168.1.161/24 lxc.network.ipv4.gateway = 192.168.1.1 # Autostart lxc.start.auto = 1 lxc.start.delay = 5 lxc.start.order = 100 and I have LXC_AUTO="false" as required inside /etc/default/lxc: LXC_AUTO="false" USE_LXC_BRIDGE="false" # overridden in lxc-net [ -f /etc/default/lxc-net ] && . /etc/default/lxc-net LXC_SHUTDOWN_TIMEOUT=120 Any idea on why the containers don't start at boot? At reboot they are always in the STOPPED state: ubuntu@saturn:~$ sudo lxc-ls --fancy NAME STATE IPV4 IPV6 AUTOSTART calypso STOPPED - - YES encelado STOPPED - - YES and then again they can be started manually, using sudo lxc-autostart

  • Seeking solution for printing-reporting .NET

    - by Parhs
    I am developing an application that prints in separate threads in extreme cases about 20-25 pages per minute to various thermal printers. Currently templates for these are XAML xps documents. All printers have graphics drivers that support EMF/GDI printing. So GDI-EMF is done by operating system resulting in slower performance. Sending raw text for printing is another good solution but doesnt work always , because some clients have old chinese thermal printer that nobody support thus impossible to change codepage / emulation. So it doesnt work always. Also most computers running my software are low end ATOM CPU. So I am thinking to return to GDI, EMF printing and have both Text-Only reports and EMF reports. Another reason i want EMF is because here receipts are signed by Electronic Fiscal Memory device.Most of these dont do good job extracting text from XPS as they dont follow the standard but how windows convert GDI to XPS.Even with text-only mode some of them dont support all character encodings and are impossible to send paper cut command after the sign. I know that using a reporting engine would solve rendering problem but I dont want to buy one. All I want is to be able to show tabular data and insert an image and replaced text.I know there is StringTemplate that could do the generation of template but the problem is i should parse somehow the template and render it using GDI commands. Is there any other solution/approach for this ? Or is there anything ready ?

  • Is the separation of program logic and presentation layer going too far?

    - by Timwi
    In a Drupal programming guide, I noticed this sentence: The theme hook receives the total number of votes and the number of votes for just that item, but the template wants to display a percentage. That kind of work shouldn't be done in a template; instead, the math is performed here. The math necessary to calculate a percentage from a total and a number is (number/total)*100. Is this application of two basic arithmetic operators within a presentation layer already too much? Is the maintenance of the entire system severely compromised by this amount of mathematics? The WPF (Windows Presentation Framework) and its UI mark-up language, XAML, seem to go to similar extremes. If you try to so much as add two numbers in the View (the presentation layer), you have committed a cardinal sin. Consequently, XAML has no operators for any arithmetic whatsoever. Is this ultra-strict separation really the holy grail of programming? What are the significant gains to be had from taking the separation to such extremes?

  • Adventures in Windows 8: Placing items in a GridView with a ColumnSpan or RowSpan

    - by Laurent Bugnion
    Currently working on a Windows 8 app for an important client, I will be writing about small issues, tips and tricks, ideas and whatever occurs to me during the development and the integration of this app. When working with a GridView, it is quite common to use a VariableSizedWrapGrid as the ItemsPanel. This creates a nice flowing layout which will auto-adapt for various resolutions. This is ideal when you want to build views like the Windows 8 start menu. However immediately we notice that the Start menu allows to place items on one column (Smaller) or two columns (Larger). This switch happens through the AppBar. So how do we implement that in our app? Using ColumnSpan and RowSpan When you use a VariableSizedWrapGrid directly in your XAML, you can attach the VariableSizedWrapGrid.ColumnSpan and VariableSizedWrapGrid.RowSpan attached properties directly to an item to create the desired effect. For instance this code create this output (shown in Blend but it runs just the same): <VariableSizedWrapGrid ItemHeight="100" ItemWidth="100" Width="200" Orientation="Horizontal"> <Rectangle Fill="Purple" /> <Rectangle Fill="Orange" /> <Rectangle Fill="Yellow" VariableSizedWrapGrid.ColumnSpan="2" /> <Rectangle Fill="Red" VariableSizedWrapGrid.ColumnSpan="2" VariableSizedWrapGrid.RowSpan="2" /> <Rectangle Fill="Green" VariableSizedWrapGrid.RowSpan="2" /> <Rectangle Fill="Blue" /> <Rectangle Fill="LightGray" /> </VariableSizedWrapGrid> Using the VariableSizedWrapGrid as ItemsPanel When you use a GridView however, you typically bind the ItemsSource property to a collection, for example in a viewmodel. In that case, you want to be able to switch the ColumnSpan and RowSpan depending on properties on the item. I tried to find a way to bind the VariableSizedWrapGrid.ColumnSpan attached property on the GridView’s ItemContainerStyle template to an observable property on the item, but it didn’t work. Instead, I decided to use a StyleSelector to switch the GridViewItem’s style. Here’s how: First I added my two GridViews to my XAML as follows: <Page.Resources> <local:MainViewModel x:Key="Main" /> <DataTemplate x:Key="DataTemplate1"> <Grid Background="{Binding Brush}"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding BrushCode}" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </Page.Resources> <Page.DataContext> <Binding Source="{StaticResource Main}" /> </Page.DataContext> <Grid Background="{StaticResource ApplicationPageBackgroundThemeBrush}" Margin="20"> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" /> <ColumnDefinition Width="*" /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <GridView ItemsSource="{Binding Items}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource DataTemplate1}" VerticalAlignment="Top"> <GridView.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <VariableSizedWrapGrid ItemHeight="150" ItemWidth="150" /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </GridView.ItemsPanel> </GridView> <GridView Grid.Column="1" ItemsSource="{Binding Items}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource DataTemplate1}" VerticalAlignment="Top"> <GridView.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <VariableSizedWrapGrid ItemHeight="100" ItemWidth="100" /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </GridView.ItemsPanel> </GridView> </Grid> The MainViewModel looks like this: public class MainViewModel { public IList<Item> Items { get; private set; } public MainViewModel() { Items = new List<Item> { new Item { Brush = new SolidColorBrush(Colors.Red) }, new Item { Brush = new SolidColorBrush(Colors.Blue) }, new Item { Brush = new SolidColorBrush(Colors.Green), }, // And more... }; } } As for the Item class, I am using an MVVM Light ObservableObject but you can use your own simple implementation of INotifyPropertyChanged of course: public class Item : ObservableObject { public const string ColSpanPropertyName = "ColSpan"; private int _colSpan = 1; public int ColSpan { get { return _colSpan; } set { Set(ColSpanPropertyName, ref _colSpan, value); } } public SolidColorBrush Brush { get; set; } public string BrushCode { get { return Brush.Color.ToString(); } } } Then I copied the GridViewItem’s style locally. To do this, I use Expression Blend’s functionality. It has the disadvantage to copy a large portion of XAML to your application, but the HUGE advantage to allow you to change the look and feel of your GridViewItem everywhere in the application. For example, you can change the selection chrome, the item’s alignments and many other properties. Actually everytime I use a ListBox, ListView or any other data control, I typically copy the item style to a resource dictionary in my application and I tweak it. Note that Blend for Windows 8 apps is automatically installed with every edition of Visual Studio 2012 (including Express) so you have no excuses anymore not to use Blend :) Open MainPage.xaml in Expression Blend by right clicking on the MainPage.xaml file in the Solution Explorer and selecting Open in Blend from the context menu. Note that the items do not look very nice! The reason is that the default ItemContainerStyle sets the content’s alignment to “Center” which I never quite understood. Seems to me that you rather want the content to be stretched, but anyway it is easy to change.   Right click on the GridView on the left and select Edit Additional Templates, Edit Generated Item Container (ItemContainerStyle), Edit a Copy. In the Create Style Resource dialog, enter the name “DefaultGridViewItemStyle”, select “Application” and press OK. Side note 1: You need to save in a global resource dictionary because later we will need to retrieve that Style from a global location. Side note 2": I would rather copy the style to an external resource dictionary that I link into the App.xaml file, but I want to keep things simple here. Blend switches in Template edit mode. The template you are editing now is inside the ItemContainerStyle and will govern the appearance of your items. This is where, for instance, the “checked” chrome is defined, and where you can alter it if you need to. Note that you can reuse this style for all your GridViews even if you use a different DataTemplate for your items. Makes sense? I probably need to think about writing another blog post dedicated to the ItemContainerStyle :) In the breadcrumb bar on top of the page, click on the style icon. The property we want to change now can be changed in the Style instead of the Template, which is a better idea. Blend is not in Style edit mode, as you can see in the Objects and Timeline pane. In the Properties pane, in the Search box, enter the word “content”. This will filter all the properties containing that partial string, including the two we are interested in: HorizontalContentAlignment and VerticalContentAlignment. Set these two values to “Stretch” instead of the default “Center”. Using the breadcrumb bar again, set the scope back to the Page (by clicking on the first crumb on the left). Notice how the items are now showing as squares in the first GridView. We will now use the same ItemContainerStyle for the second GridView. To do this, right click on the second GridView and select Edit Additional Templates, Edit Generate Item Container, Apply Resource, DefaultGridViewItemStyle. The page now looks nicer: And now for the ColumnSpan! So now, let’s change the ColumnSpan property. First, let’s define a new Style that inherits the ItemContainerStyle we created before. Make sure that you save everything in Blend by pressing Ctrl-Shift-S. Open App.xaml in Visual Studio. Below the newly created DefaultGridViewItemStyle resource, add the following style: <Style x:Key="WideGridViewItemStyle" TargetType="GridViewItem" BasedOn="{StaticResource DefaultGridViewItemStyle}"> <Setter Property="VariableSizedWrapGrid.ColumnSpan" Value="2" /> </Style> Add a new class to the project, and name it MainItemStyleSelector. Implement the class as follows: public class MainItemStyleSelector : StyleSelector { protected override Style SelectStyleCore(object item, DependencyObject container) { var i = (Item)item; if (i.ColSpan == 2) { return Application.Current.Resources["WideGridViewItemStyle"] as Style; } return Application.Current.Resources["DefaultGridViewItemStyle"] as Style; } } In MainPage.xaml, add a resource to the Page.Resources section: <local:MainItemStyleSelector x:Key="MainItemStyleSelector" /> In MainPage.xaml, replace the ItemContainerStyle property on the first GridView with the ItemContainerStyleSelector property, pointing to the StaticResource we just defined. <GridView ItemsSource="{Binding Items}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource DataTemplate1}" VerticalAlignment="Top" ItemContainerStyleSelector="{StaticResource MainItemStyleSelector}"> <GridView.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <VariableSizedWrapGrid ItemHeight="150" ItemWidth="150" /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </GridView.ItemsPanel> </GridView> Do the same for the second GridView as well. Finally, in the MainViewModel, change the ColumnSpan property on the 3rd Item to 2. new Item { Brush = new SolidColorBrush(Colors.Green), ColSpan = 2 }, Running the application now creates the following image, which is what we wanted. Notice how the green item is now a “wide tile”. You can also experiment by creating different Styles, all inheriting the DefaultGridViewItemStyle and using different values of RowSpan for instance. This will allow you to create any layout you want, while leaving the heavy lifting of “flowing the layout” to the GridView control. What about changing these values dynamically? Of course as we can see in the Start menu, it would be nice to be able to change the ColumnSpan and maybe even the RowSpan values at runtime. Unfortunately at this time I have not found a good way to do that. I am investigating however and will make sure to post a follow up when I find what I am looking for!   Laurent Bugnion (GalaSoft) Subscribe | Twitter | Facebook | Flickr | LinkedIn

  • Calling a .NET C# class from XSLT

    - by HanSolo
    If you've ever worked with XSLT, you'd know that it's pretty limited when it comes to its programming capabilities. Try writing a for loop in XSLT and you'd know what I mean. XSLT is not designed to be a programming language so you should never put too much programming logic in your XSLT. That code can be a pain to write and maintain and so it should be avoided at all costs. Keep your xslt simple and put any complex logic that your xslt transformation requires in a class. Here is how you can create a helper class and call that from your xslt. For example, this is my helper class:  public class XsltHelper     {         public string GetStringHash(string originalString)         {             return originalString.GetHashCode().ToString();         }     }   And this is my xslt file(notice the namespace declaration that references the helper class): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <xsl:stylesheet  xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0" xmlns:ext="http://MyNamespace">     <xsl:output method="text" indent="yes" omit-xml-declaration="yes"/>     <xsl:template  match="/">The hash code of "<xsl:value-of select="stringList/string1" />" is "<xsl:value-of select="ext:GetStringHash(stringList/string1)" />".     </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet>   Here is how you can include the helper class as part of the transformation: string xml = "<stringList><string1>test</string1></stringList>";             XmlDocument xmlDocument = new XmlDocument();             xmlDocument.LoadXml(xml);               XslCompiledTransform xslCompiledTransform = new XslCompiledTransform();             xslCompiledTransform.Load("XSLTFile1.xslt");               XsltArgumentList xsltArgs = new XsltArgumentList();                        xsltArgs.AddExtensionObject("http://MyNamespace", Activator.CreateInstance(typeof(XsltHelper)));               using (FileStream fileStream = new FileStream("TransformResults.txt", FileMode.OpenOrCreate, FileAccess.ReadWrite, FileShare.ReadWrite))             {                 // transform the xml and output to the output file ...                 xslCompiledTransform.Transform(xmlDocument, xsltArgs, fileStream);                            }

  • Another Twig Improvements

    - by Ondrej Brejla
    Hi all! We are here again to intorduce you some of our new NetBeans 7.3 features. Today we'll show you some another Twig improvements. So let's start! Code Templates First feature is about Code Templates. We added some basic templates to improve your Editor experience. You will be really fast with it! If someone don't know what Code Templates are, they are piece of code (snippet) which is inserted into editor after typing its abbreviation and pressing Tab key (or another one which you define in Tools -> Options -> Editor -> Code Templates -> Expand Template on) to epxand it. All default Twig Code Templates can be found in Tools -> Options -> Editor -> Code Templates -> Twig Markup. You can add your custom templates there as well. Note: Twig Markup code templates have to be expanded inside Twig delimiters (i.e. { and }). If you try to expand them outside of delimiters, it will not work, because then you are in HTML context. If you want to add a template which will contain Twig delimiter too, you have to add it directly into Tools -> Options -> Editor -> Code Templates -> HTML/XHTML. Don't add them into Twig File, it will not work. Interpolation Coloring The second, minor, feature is, that we know how to colorize Twig Interpolation. It's a small feature, but usefull :-) And that's all for today and as usual, please test it and if you find something strange, don't hesitate to file a new issue (product php, component Twig). Thanks a lot!

  • Augmenting functionality of subclasses without code duplication in C++

    - by Rob W
    I have to add common functionality to some classes that share the same superclass, preferably without bloating the superclass. The simplified inheritance chain looks like this: Element -> HTMLElement -> HTMLAnchorElement Element -> SVGElement -> SVGAlement The default doSomething() method on Element is no-op by default, but there are some subclasses that need an actual implementation that requires some extra overridden methods and instance members. I cannot put a full implementation of doSomething() in Element because 1) it is only relevant for some of the subclasses, 2) its implementation has a performance impact and 3) it depends on a method that could be overridden by a class in the inheritance chain between the superclass and a subclass, e.g. SVGElement in my example. Especially because of the third point, I wanted to solve the problem using a template class, as follows (it is a kind of decorator for classes): struct Element { virtual void doSomething() {} }; // T should be an instance of Element template<class T> struct AugmentedElement : public T { // doSomething is expensive and uses T virtual void doSomething() override {} // Used by doSomething virtual bool shouldDoSomething() = 0; }; class SVGElement : public Element { /* ... */ }; class SVGAElement : public AugmentedElement<SVGElement> { // some non-trivial check bool shouldDoSomething() { /* ... */ return true; } }; // Similarly for HTMLAElement and others I looked around (in the existing (huge) codebase and on the internet), but didn't find any similar code snippets, let alone an evaluation of the effectiveness and pitfalls of this approach. Is my design the right way to go, or is there a better way to add common functionality to some subclasses of a given superclass?

  • which style of member-access is preferable

    - by itwasntpete
    the purpose of oop using classes is to encapsulate members from the outer space. i always read that accessing members should be done by methods. for example: template<typename T> class foo_1 { T state_; public: // following below }; the most common doing that by my professor was to have a get and set method. // variant 1 T const& getState() { return state_; } void setState(T const& v) { state_ = v; } or like this: // variant 2 // in my opinion it is easier to read T const& state() { return state_; } void state(T const& v) { state_ = v; } assume the state_ is a variable, which is checked periodically and there is no need to ensure the value (state) is consistent. Is there any disadvantage of accessing the state by reference? for example: // variant 3 // do it by reference T& state() { return state_; } or even directly, if I declare the variable as public. template<typename T> class foo { public: // variant 4 T state; }; In variant 4 I could even ensure consistence by using c++11 atomic. So my question is, which one should I prefer?, Is there any coding standard which would decline one of these pattern? for some code see here

  • Groovy JUnit test support

    - by Martin Janicek
    Good news everyone! I've implemented support for the Groovy JUnit tests which basically means you can finally use Groovy in the area where is so highly productive! You can create a new Groovy JUnit test in the New File/Groovy/Groovy JUnit test and it should behave in the same way as for Java tests. Which means if there is no JUnit setup in your project yet, you can choose between JUnit 3 and JUnit 4 template and with respect to your choice the project settings will be changed (in case of the Maven based projects the correct dependencies and plugins are added to the pom.xml and in case of the Ant based project the JUnit dependency is configured). Or if the project is already configured, the correct template will be used. After that the test skeleton is created and you can write your own code and of course run the tests together with the java ones. Some of you were asking for this feature and of course I don't expect it will be perfect from the beginning so I would be really glad to see some constructive feedback about what could be improved and/or redesigned ;] ..at the end I have to say that the feature is not active for the Ant based Java EE projects yet (I'm aware of it and it will be fixed to the NetBeans 7.3 final - actually it will be done in a few days/weeks, just want you to know). But it's already complete in all types of the Maven based projects and also for the Ant based J2SE projects. And as always, the daily build where you can try the feature can be downloaded right here, so don't hesitate to try it!

  • Is there an elegant way to track multiple domains under separate accounts with google analytics?

    - by J_M_J
    I have a situation where a content management system uses the same template for multiple websites with different domain names and I can't make a separate template for each. However, each website needs to be tracked with Google analytics. Would this be appropriate to track each domain like this by putting in some conditional code? And would this be robust enough not to break? Is there a more elegant way to do this? <script type="text/javascript"> var _gaq = _gaq || []; switch (location.hostname){ case 'www.aaa.com': _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-xxxxxxx-1']); break; case 'www.bbb.com': _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-xxxxxxx-2']); break; case 'www.ccc.com': _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-xxxxxxx-3']); break; } _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; (document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0] || document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0]).appendChild(ga); })(); </script> Just to be clear, each website is a separate domain name and must be tracked separately, NOT different domains with same pages on one analytics profile.

  • Modular Architecture for Processing Pipeline

    - by anjruu
    I am trying to design the architecture of a system that I will be implementing in C++, and I was wondering if people could think of a good approach, or critique the approach that I have designed so far. First of all, the general problem is an image processing pipeline. It contains several stages, and the goal is to design a highly modular solution, so that any of the stages can be easily swapped out and replaced with a piece of custom code (so that the user can have a speed increase if s/he knows that a certain stage is constrained in a certain way in his or her problem). The current thinking is something like this: struct output; /*Contains the output values from the pipeline.*/ class input_routines{ public: virtual foo stage1(...){...} virtual bar stage2(...){...} virtual qux stage3(...){...} ... } output pipeline(input_routines stages); This would allow people to subclass input_routines and override whichever stage they wanted. That said, I've worked in systems like this before, and I find the subclassing and the default stuff tends to get messy, and can be difficult to use, so I'm not giddy about writing one myself. I was also thinking about a more STLish approach, where the different stages (there are 6 or 7) would be defaulted template parameters. Can anyone offer a critique of the pattern above, thoughts on the template approach, or any other architecture that comes to mind?

  • SQL to XML open data made simple

    - by drrwebber
    The perennial question for people is how to easily generate XML from SQL table content?  The latest CAM Editor release really tackles this head on by providing a powerful and simple toolset.  Firstly you can visually browse your SQL tables and then drag and drop from columns and tables into the XML structure editor.   This gives you a code-free method of describing the transformation you require.  So you do not need to know about the vagaries of XML and XSD schema syntax. Second you can map directly into existing industry domain XML exchange structures in the XML visual editor, again no need to wrestle with XSD schema, you have WYSIWYG visual control over what your output will look like. If you do not have a target XML structure and need to build one from scratch, then the CAM Editor makes this simple.  Switch the SQL viewer into designer mode, then take your existing SQL table and drag and drop it into the XML structure editor.  Automatically the XML wizard tool will take your SQL column names and definitions and create equivalent XML for you and insert the mappings. Simply save the structure template, and run the Open Data generator menu option, and your XML is built for you. Completely code-free template driven development. To see this in action, see our video demonstration links and then download the tools and samples and try it yourself.

  • C++ function templates, function name confusion. This is funny [migrated]

    - by nashmaniac
    Alright so heres the program and works absolutely right #include <iostream> using namespace std; template <typename T> void Swap(T &a , T &b); int main(){ int i = 10; int j = 20; cout<<"i, j = " << i <<" , " <<j<<endl; Swap(i,j); cout<<"i, j = " << i <<" , " <<j<<endl; } template <typename T> void Swap(T &a , T &b){ T temp; temp = a ; a = b; b= temp; } but when I change the function's name from Swap to swap it generates an error saying error: call of overloaded 'swap(int&, int&)' is ambiguous| note: candidates are: void swap(T&, T&) [with T = int]| ||=== Build finished: 1 errors, 0 warnings ===| what happened is it a rule to start functions using templates to start with a capital letter ?

  • Is this the correct approach to an OOP design structure in php?

    - by Silver89
    I'm converting a procedural based site to an OOP design to allow more easily manageable code in the future and so far have created the following structure: /classes /templates index.php With these classes: ConnectDB Games System User User -Moderator User -Administrator In the index.php file I have code that detects if any $_GET values are posted to determine on which page content to build (it's early so there's only one example and no default): function __autoload($className) { require "classes/".strtolower($className).".class.php"; } $db = new Connect; $db->connect(); $user = new User(); if(isset($_GET['gameId'])) { System::buildGame($gameId); } This then runs the BuildGame function in the system class which looks like the following and then uses gets in the Game Class to return values, such as $game->getTitle() in the template file template/play.php: function buildGame($gameId){ $game = new Game($gameId); $game->setRatio(900, 600); require 'templates/play.php'; } I also have .htaccess so that actual game page url works instead of passing the parameters to index.php Are there any major errors of how I'm setting this up or do I have the general idea of OOP correct?

  • Web Applications Desktop Integrator (WebADI) Feature for Install Base Mass Update in 12.1.3

    - by LuciaC
    Purpose The integration of WebADI technology with the Install Base Mass Update function is designed to make creation and update of bulk item instances much easier than in the past. What is it? WebADI is an Excel-based desktop application where users can download an Excel template with item instances pre-populated based on search criteria.  Users can create and update item instances in the Excel sheet and finally upload the Excel data using an "upload" option available in the Excel menu. On upload, the modified data will bulk upload to interface tables which are processed by an asynchronous concurrent program that users can monitor for the uploaded results. Advantage: This allows users to work in a disconnected Environment: session time outs can be avoided, as once a template is downloaded the user can work in a disconnected environment and once all updates are done the new input can be uploaded. Also the data can be saved for later update and upload. For more details review the following: R12.1.3 Install Base WebADI Mass Update Feature (Doc ID 1535936.1) How To Use Install Base WebADI Mass Update Feature In Release 12.1.3 (Doc ID 1536498.1).

  • How to persuade C fanatics to work on my C++ open source project?

    - by paperjam
    I am launching an open-source project into a space where a lot of the development is still done Linux-kernel-style, i.e. C-language with a low-level mindset. There are multiple benefits to C++ in our space but I fear those used to working in C will be scared off. How can I make the case for the benefits of C++? Specifically, the following C++ attributes are very valuable: concept of objects and reference-counting pointers - really don't want to have to malloc(sizeof(X)) or memcpy() structs templates for specialising whole bodies of code with specific performance optimizations and for avoiding duplication of code. template metaprogramming related to the above syntactic sweetness available (e.g. operator overloading, to be used in very small doses) STL Boost libraries Many of the knee-jerk negative reactions to C++ are illfounded. Performance does not suffer: modern compilers can flatten dozens of call stack levels and avoid bloat through wide use of template specializations. Granted, when using metaprogramming and building multiple specializations of a large call tree, compile time is slower but there are ways to mitigate this. How can I sell C++?

  • How can I port msvc++ code with non-dependent names in templates to Linux?

    - by user352382
    I can deal with porting platform dependent functions. I have a problem that the compilers I tried on Linux (clang and g++) do not accept the following code, while the msvc++ compiler does: template <class T> class Base { protected: T Value; }; template <class T> class Derived : public Base<T> { public: void setValue(const T& inValue){ Value = inValue; } }; int main(int argc, char const *argv[]) { Derived<int> tmp; tmp.setValue(0); return 0; } g++ error: main.cpp: In member function ‘void Derived<T>::setValue(const T&)’: main.cpp:11:3: error: ‘Value’ was not declared in this scope I believe this due to the use of a non-dependent name (Value) in the second class. More information. The problem is that I have a very large code base, in which this type of code is used very often. I understand that it is wrong when looking at the standard. However it is very convenient not having to write this-> or Base<T>:: in front of every use of Value. Even writing using Base<T>::Value; at the start of the derived class is problematic when you use ~20 members of the base class. So my question is: are there compilers for Linux that allow this kind of code (with or without extra compiler switches)? Or are there small modifications that will allow this code to compile on Linux?

  • RedirectToAction help: or better suggestion

    - by Dean Lunz
    Still getting my feet wet with asp.net mvc. I have a working Action and httppost action but I want to replace the "iffy" code with a RedirectToAction call because the code is rather large for what it does. A call using RedirectToAction would clean it up more. Every way I've tried it fails to work for me in that the drop down list fails to have the proper item selected. The code below works fine but calling RedirectToAction the was I have been does not work for me. So how can i rework the code below to use RedirectToAction ? I find this line of code particularly troubling because there is no garentee that the "this.Url.RequestContext.RouteData.Route" property will be of type "System.Web.Routing.Route". // get url request var urlValue = "/" + ((System.Web.Routing.Route)(this.Url.RequestContext.RouteData.Route)).Url; I also find the second piece of code rather bloated ... // build the url template urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{realm}", realm); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{guild}", guild); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{date}", date.ToShortDateString().Replace("/", "-")); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{pageIndex}", pageIndex.ToString()); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{itemCount}", itemCountToDisplay.ToString()); The route I have setup is routes.MapRoute( "GuildOverview Realm", // Route name "GuildMembers/{realm}/{guild}/{date}/{pageIndex}/{itemCount}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "GuildMembers", action = "Index" }); // Parameter defaults The code for my controller actions is below ... [HttpPost] public ActionResult Index(string realm, string guild, DateTime date, int pageIndex, int itemCount, FormCollection formCollection) { // get form data if it's there and try parse num items to display var cnt = this.Request.Form["ddlDisplayCount"]; int itemCountToDisplay = 10; if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(cnt)) int.TryParse(cnt, out itemCountToDisplay); // get url request var urlValue = "/" + ((System.Web.Routing.Route)(this.Url.RequestContext.RouteData.Route)).Url; // build the url template urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{realm}", realm); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{guild}", guild); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{date}", date.ToShortDateString().Replace("/", "-")); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{pageIndex}", pageIndex.ToString()); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{itemCount}", itemCountToDisplay.ToString()); return this.Redirect(urlValue); } public ActionResult Index(string realm, string guild, DateTime date, int pageIndex, int itemCount) { // get the page index ViewData["pageIndex"] = pageIndex; // validate item count var pageItemCountItems = new[] { 10, 20, 50, 100 }; if (!pageItemCountItems.Contains(itemCount)) itemCount = pageItemCountItems[0]; // calc the number of pages there are var numPages = (this._repository.GetGuildMemberCount(date, realm, guild) / itemCount) + 1; this.ViewData["pageCount"] = numPages; // get url request var urlValue = "/" + ((System.Web.Routing.Route)(this.Url.RequestContext.RouteData.Route)).Url; // build the url template urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{realm}", realm); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{guild}", guild); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{date}", date.ToShortDateString().Replace("/", "-")); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{pageIndex}", "{0}"); urlValue = urlValue.Replace("{itemCount}", itemCount.ToString()); // set url template ViewData["UrlTemplate"] = urlValue; // set list of items for the display count dropdown var itemCounts = new SelectList(pageItemCountItems, itemCount); ViewData["DisplayCount"] = itemCounts; return View(_repository.GetGuildCharacters(date, realm, guild, (pageIndex - 1) * itemCount, itemCount)); } and my Index view contains the fallowing <%=Html.SimplePager(int.Parse(ViewData["pageIndex"].ToString()), int.Parse(ViewData["pageCount"].ToString()), ViewData["urlTemplate"].ToString(), "nav-menu")%> <% using (Html.BeginForm()) { %> <%= Html.DropDownList("ddlDisplayCount", (SelectList)ViewData["DisplayCount"], new { onchange = "this.form.submit();" })%> <% }%>

  • Using xsl:variable in a xsl:foreach select statment

    - by Nefariousity
    I'm trying to iterate through an xml document using xsl:foreach but I need the select=" " to be dynamic so I'm using a variable as the source. Here's what I've tried: ... <xsl:template name="SetDataPath"> <xsl:param name="Type" /> <xsl:variable name="Path_1">/Rating/Path1/*</xsl:variable> <xsl:variable name="Path_2">/Rating/Path2/*</xsl:variable> <xsl:if test="$Type='1'"> <xsl:value-of select="$Path_1"/> </xsl:if> <xsl:if test="$Type='2'"> <xsl:value-of select="$Path_2"/> </xsl:if> <xsl:template> ... <!-- Set Data Path according to Type --> <xsl:variable name="DataPath"> <xsl:call-template name="SetDataPath"> <xsl:with-param name="Type" select="/Rating/Type" /> </xsl:call-template> </xsl:variable> ... <xsl:for-each select="$DataPath"> ... The foreach threw an error stating: "XslTransformException - To use a result tree fragment in a path expression, first convert it to a node-set using the msxsl:node-set() function." When I use the msxsl:node-set() function though, my results are blank. I'm aware that I'm setting $DataPath to a string, but shouldn't the node-set() function be creating a node set from it? Am I missing something? When I don't use a variable: <xsl:for-each select="/Rating/Path1/*"> I get the proper results. Here's the XML data file I'm using: <Rating> <Type>1</Type> <Path1> <sarah> <dob>1-3-86</dob> <user>Sarah</user> </sarah> <joe> <dob>11-12-85</dob> <user>Joe</user> </joe> </Path1> <Path2> <jeff> <dob>11-3-84</dob> <user>Jeff</user> </jeff> <shawn> <dob>3-5-81</dob> <user>Shawn</user> </shawn> </Path2> </Rating> My question is simple, how do you run a foreach on 2 different paths?

  • Silverlight ItemsControl vertical scrollbar, using a wrappanel as ControlTemplate

    - by Orestes C.A.
    I have a collection of elements, each one with a name and a subcollection of image blobs. I want to display an Accordion, with each item representing each of the MainElements. inside each element, I display the images in the subcollecion of said MainElement. The Accordion gets resized by the user, so I use a wrappanel for presenting the images. When the accordion is wide enough, the images reorder themselves fitting as many as posible in each row. the problem comes when the wrappanel only displays one image per row (because there's no space enough for more), the image list continues, but I can't see all the images, because they don't fit inside the control's height. I need a vertical scrollbar to be displayed inside the AccordionItem so I can scroll down the image list. So, here's my code: <layoutToolkit:Accordion Width="Auto" Height="Auto" ItemsSource="{Binding MainElementCollection}"> <layoutToolkit:Accordion.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding MainElementName}" /> </DataTemplate> </layoutToolkit:Accordion.ItemTemplate> <layoutToolkit:Accordion.ContentTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding SubElementCollection}" ScrollViewer.VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" > <ItemsControl.Template> <ControlTemplate> <controlsToolkit:WrapPanel /> </ControlTemplate> </ItemsControl.Template> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid> <Image Margin="2" Width="150" Source="{Binding PreviewImage, Converter={StaticResource ImageConverter}}" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> </DataTemplate> </layoutToolkit:Accordion.ContentTemplate> </layoutToolkit:Accordion> http://www.silverlightshow.net/tips/How-to-add-scrollbars-to-ItemsControl.aspx suggests that I should surround my wrappanel with a scrollviewer, like this <ItemsControl.Template> <ControlTemplate> <scrollviewer> <controlsToolkit:WrapPanel /> </scrollviewer> </ControlTemplate> </ItemsControl.Template> But then my wrappanel gets really small and I can only see a small vertical scrollbar Any ideas? Thanks a lot. Edit: I figured thatthe wrappanel loses its width when used in the controltemplate It should be used as follows: <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <controlsToolkit:WrapPanel ScrollViewer.VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Visible" /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> Anyway, I tried adding the ScrollViewer.VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Visible" line but I'm stuck again.

  • C++ invalid reference problem

    - by Karol
    Hi all, I'm writing some callback implementation in C++. I have an abstract callback class, let's say: /** Abstract callback class. */ class callback { public: /** Executes the callback. */ void call() { do_call(); }; protected: /** Callback call implementation specific to derived callback. */ virtual void do_call() = 0; }; Each callback I create (accepting single-argument functions, double-argument functions...) is created as a mixin using one of the following: /** Makes the callback a single-argument callback. */ template <typename T> class singleArgumentCallback { protected: /** Callback argument. */ T arg; public: /** Constructor. */ singleArgumentCallback(T arg): arg(arg) { } }; /** Makes the callback a double-argument callback. */ template <typename T, typename V> class doubleArgumentCallback { protected: /** Callback argument 1. */ T arg1; /** Callback argument 2. */ V arg2; public: /** Constructor. */ doubleArgumentCallback(T arg1, V arg2): arg1(arg1), arg2(arg2) { } }; For example, a single-arg function callback would look like this: /** Single-arg callbacks. */ template <typename T> class singleArgFunctionCallback: public callback, protected singleArgumentCallback<T> { /** Callback. */ void (*callbackMethod)(T arg); public: /** Constructor. */ singleArgFunctionCallback(void (*callback)(T), T argument): singleArgumentCallback<T>(argument), callbackMethod(callback) { } protected: void do_call() { this->callbackMethod(this->arg); } }; For user convenience, I'd like to have a method that creates a callback without having the user think about details, so that one can call (this interface is not subject to change, unfortunately): void test3(float x) { std::cout << x << std::endl; } void test5(const std::string& s) { std::cout << s << std::endl; } make_callback(&test3, 12.0f)->call(); make_callback(&test5, "oh hai!")->call(); My current implementation of make_callback(...) is as follows: /** Creates a callback object. */ template <typename T, typename U> callback* make_callback( void (*callbackMethod)(T), U argument) { return new singleArgFunctionCallback<T>(callbackMethod, argument); } Unfortunately, when I call make_callback(&test5, "oh hai!")->call(); I get an empty string on the standard output. I believe the problem is that the reference gets out of scope after callback initialization. I tried using pointers and references, but it's impossible to have a pointer/reference to reference, so I failed. The only solution I had was to forbid substituting reference type as T (for example, T cannot be std::string&) but that's a sad solution since I have to create another singleArgCallbackAcceptingReference class accepting a function pointer with following signature: void (*callbackMethod)(T& arg); thus, my code gets duplicated 2^n times, where n is the number of arguments of a callback function. Does anybody know any workaround or has any idea how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

  • I'm trying to run some PHP scripts as CLI instead of over HTTP. How do I make them play nice?

    - by gnfti
    Hi everyone. I'm using some PHP scripts from FeedForAll to join together RSS feeds (RSSmesh) and display them as HTML (RSS2HTML). Because I intend to run these scripts fairly intensively and don't want the resulting HTTP requests and bandwidth to count towards my hosting quota, I am in the process of moving to running them on the web host's server in an umbrella PHP "batch" script, and call this script via cron (this is a Linux server, by the way). Here's a (working) sample request over HTTP: http://www.mydomain.com/a/rss2htmlcore/rss2html2.php?XMLFILE=http://www.mydomain.com/a/myapp/xmlcache/feed.xml&TEMPLATE=template.html This will produce the desired HTML output. An example of how I want this to work on the command line: /srv/customers/mycustomer#/mydomain.com/www/a/rss2htmlcore/rss2html2-cli.php /srv/customers/mycustomer#/mydomain.com/www/a/myapp/xmlcache/feed.xml /srv/customers/mycustomer#/mydomain.com/www/a/template.html This is with the correct shebang line added to "rss2html2-cli.php". I could just as well specify the executable ("/usr/local/bin/php") in the request, I doubt it makes a difference because I am able to run another script (that I wrote myself) either way without problems. Now, RSS2HTML and RSSmesh are different in that, for starters, they include secondary files -- for example, both include an XML parser script -- and I suspect that this is where I am getting a bit in over my head. Right now I'm calling exec() from the "umbrella" batch script, like so: exec("/srv/customers/mycustomer#/mydomain.com/www/a/rss2htmlcore/rss2html2-cli.php /srv/customers/mycustomer#/mydomain.com/www/a/myapp/xmlcache/feed.xml /srv/customers/mycustomer#/mydomain.com/www/a/template.html", $output) But no output is being produced. What's the best way to go about this and what "gotchas" should I keep in mind? Is exec() the right way to approach this? It works fine for the other (simple) script but that writes its own output. For this I want to get the output and write it to a file from within the umbrella script if possible. I've also tried output buffering but to no avail. Do I need to pay attention to anything specific with regard to the includes? Right now they're specified in the scripts as include_once("FeedForAll_XMLParser.inc.php"); and the specified files are indeed in the same folder. Further info: -This is a Linux server. -I have no direct access to the shell, so I can't test things directly on a command line, everything is via crontab. -I will admit that support for the FeedForAll scripts leaves a lot to be desired, but I'd like to keep using their scripts if at all possible, if only because I know them and have been using them for a while. I have looked into Simplepie, but the FFA scripts do some things that I've seen no obvious solutions for with Simplepie, like limiting the number of items per individual feed (RSSmesh) or limiting the description length (RSS2HTML). -Yahoo! Pipes is out, they cache their data for too long for my application. Should you want to take a look at the code, here are the scripts as txt files. RSS2HTML2 and RSSmesh are the FeedForAll scripts, FeedForAll_XMLParser... is the included parser. Note that I have not yet amended these to handle $argv etc. I have however in "scraper-universal-rss-cli", which works fine with CLI. If anyone has any thoughts to share on this it would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  • XSLT: look for a word and it's context

    - by farhad
    Hello! I need to search a word and it's context into an xml. For example <line>hello world, my name is farhad and i'm having trouble with xslt</line> looking for 'and', context of 3 words: <line>hello world, my <span class="context">name is farhad <span class="word">and</span> i'm having</span> trouble with xslt</line> How can i do? I wrote some xslt to find the word, but i can't go back 3 words to set span. This is my xslt: <xsl:variable name="delimiters">[,.;!?\s"()]+</xsl:variable> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:apply-templates select="//line"/> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="line"> <line> <xsl:for-each select="tokenize(.,'\s')"> <xsl:choose> <!-- se l'ultimo carattere è di punteggiatura, prendo la sottostringa senza la punteggiatura --> <xsl:when test="compare(replace(.,$delimiters,'$1'),'red') = 0"> <span class="word"> <xsl:value-of select="."/> </span> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <xsl:value-of select="."/> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="position()=last()"> <xsl:text></xsl:text> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <xsl:text> </xsl:text> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </xsl:for-each> </line><xsl:text> </xsl:text> </xsl:template> This is an example xml: http://pastebin.com/eAVM9CDQ . I have to search for context also on preceding tags, for example: <line>hello world,</line> <line>my name</line> <line>is farhad </line> <line>and i'm having</line> <line>trouble with xslt</line> so, looking for 'and', context of 3 words: <line>hello world,</line> <line>my <span class="context">name</line> <line>is farhad </line> <line><span class="word">and</span> i'm having</span></line> <line>trouble with xslt</line> with problems of overlapping, but now it's not a problem (i think i know how manage it). How can i search a word and its context? Thank you very much.

  • STL operator= behavior change with Visual Studio 2010?

    - by augnob
    Hi, I am attempting to compile QtScriptGenerator (gitorious) with Visual Studio 2010 (C++) and have run into a compile error. In searching for a solution, I have seen occasional references to compile breakages introduced since VS2008 due to changes in VS2010's implementation of STL and/or c++0x conformance changes. Any ideas what is happening below, or how I could go about fixing it? If the offending code appeared to be QtScriptGenerator's, I think I would have an easier time fixing it.. but it appears to me that the offending code may be in VS2010's STL implementation and I may be required to create a workaround? PS. I am pretty unfamiliar with templates and STL. I have a background in embedded and console projects where such things have until recently often been avoided to reduce memory consumption and cross-compiler risks.
