  • Winforms: How to display a "loading" form?

    - by Martijn
    I have a grid and when a row is double clicked a form is loaded. However a lot of data must be loaded, so I'd like to display a simple form with the text 'loading, please wait..'. And when all loading is finished, the form must disappear. This is what I have right now, but it doesn't work: Code that invokes the form with lots of data: FormWithLotData form = new FormWithLotData(); form.ShowDialog(this); Constructor of FormWithLotData: // Show load form FormIsLoading frm = new FormIsLoading(); _CloseLoadForm closeForm = new _CloseLoadForm(frm.Close); System.Threading.Thread thread = new System.Threading.Thread(frm.Show); thread.Start(); InitializeComponent(); this.Visible = false; LoadAllData(); this.Visible = true; // Close load form Invoke(closeForm); Hope you can help me out. EDIT: I'd like to show an animated gif on the loading form.

  • Django Cannot set values on a ManyToManyField which specifies an intermediary model

    - by dana
    i am using a m2m and a through table, and when i was trying to save, my error was: Cannot set values on a ManyToManyField which specifies an intermediary model so, i've modified my code, so that when i save the form, to insert data into the 'through' table too.But now, i'm having another error. (i've bolded the lines where i think i am wrong) i have in models.py: class Classroom(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User, related_name = 'classroom_creator') classname = models.CharField(max_length=140, unique = True) date = models.DateTimeField(auto_now=True) open_class = models.BooleanField(default=True) members = models.ManyToManyField(User,related_name="list of invited members", through = 'Membership') class Membership(models.Model): accept = models.BooleanField(User) date = models.DateTimeField(auto_now = True) classroom = models.ForeignKey(Classroom, related_name = 'classroom_membership') member = models.ForeignKey(User, related_name = 'user_membership') and in def save_classroom(request): if request.method == 'POST': form = ClassroomForm(request.POST, request.FILES, user = request.user) **classroom_instance = Classroom member_instance = Membership** if form.is_valid(): new_obj = form.save(commit=False) new_obj.user = request.user r = Relations.objects.filter(initiated_by = request.user) membership = Membership.objects.create(**classroom = classroom_instance, member = member_instance,date=datetime.datetime.now())** new_obj.save() form.save_m2m() return HttpResponseRedirect('/classroom/classroom_view/{{user}}/') else: form = ClassroomForm(user = request.user) return render_to_response('classroom/classroom_form.html', { 'form': form, }, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) but i don't seem to initialise okay the classroom_instance and menber_instance.My error os: Cannot assign "": "Membership.classroom" must be a "Classroom" instance.   • Django: Save data from form in DB

    - by Anry
    I have a model: class Cost(models.Model): project = models.ForeignKey(Project) cost = models.FloatField() date = models.DateField() For the model I created a class form: class CostForm(ModelForm): class Meta: model = Cost fields = ['date', 'cost'] view.py: def cost(request, offset): if request.method == 'POST': #HOW save data in DB? return HttpResponseRedirect('/') else: form = CostForm() In the template file determined: <form action="/cost/{{ project }}/" method="post" accept-charset="utf-8"> <label for="date">Date:</label><input type="text" name="date" value={{ current_date }} id="date" /> <label for="cost">Cost:</label><input type="text" name="cost" value="0" id="cost" /> <p><input type="submit" value="Add"></p> </form> How save data from form in DB? P.S. offset = project name Model: class Project(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=150) url = models.URLField() manager = models.ForeignKey(User) timestamp = models.DateTimeField() I tried to write: def cost(request, offset): if request.method == 'POST': form = CostForm(request.POST) if form.is_valid(): instance = form.save(commit=False) instance.project = Project.objects.filter(title=offset) instance.date = request.date instance.cost = request.cost instance.save() return HttpResponseRedirect('/') else: form = CostForm() But it does not work :(

  • Databinding Textbox to Form.Text (title)

    - by MysticEarth
    I'm trying to bind a Textbox.Text to Form.Text (which sets the title of the form). The binding itself works. But, the title isn't updated until I move the entire form. How can I achieve Form.Text being updated without moving the form? I'd like Form.Text being updated directly when I type something in the Textbox. Edit; I set the title of the Form in a TextChanged event which is fired by a ToolStripTextbox: public partial class ProjectForm : Form { public ProjectForm() { // my code contains all sorts of code here, // but nothing that has something to do with the text. } } private void projectName_TextChanged_1(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.Text = projectName.TextBox.Text; } And the Databinding version: public partial class ProjectForm : Form { public ProjectForm() { this.projectName.TextBox.DataBindings.Add("Text", this, "Text", true, DataSourceUpdateMode.OnValidation); } } Edit 2: I see I forgot to mention something. Don't know if it adds anything, but my apllication is a MDI application. The part of the title that changes is: ApplicationName [THIS CHANGES, BUT ONLY AFTER MOVING/RESIZING]

  • Value missing from form.fieldnames in ColdFusion

    - by Patrick McElhaney
    I must be losing my mind. <cfif cgi.request_method eq "POST"> <cfoutput> Form.fieldnames = #form.fieldnames#<br> structKeyList(form) = #structKeyList(form)# </cfoutput> </cfif> <form method="post" accept-charset="utf-8"> <input type="text" name="graduation_date" value="x"><br> <input type="text" name="foo" value="y"><br> <input type="text" name="bar" value="z"><br> <input type="submit" value="Submit Form" > </form> The form.fieldnames variable should include a list of submitted fields: foo, bar, and graduation_date. But graduation_date is missing. After a little more testing, I see that anything ending in _date is excluded from form.fieldnames. I was going to ask what's wrong with my code, but now I'm pretty convinced it's a bug in ColdFusion. (I'm on ColdFusion 8.0.1 / OS X 10.5.6.) It's a bug in ColdFusion, right?

  • Symfony form->bind fails

    - by Shawn Craver
    I'm working with a few custom forms, and one of them isn't binding it's values on a POST. I'm using the same logic for each, and only one of them isn't working. Here's the code: public function executeMediaFileUpload(sfWebRequest $request) { $this->form = new MediaFileUploadForm(); if (!$request->isMethod('POST')) $psk = $request->getParameter('psk'); else { $this->form->bind($request->getParameter($this->form->getName()), $request->getFiles($this->form->getName())); $this->logMessage('VALUE: ' . $this->form->getValue('version')); $psk = $this->form->getValue('application'); } $this->logMessage('PSK: ' . $psk); $app = Doctrine::getTable('Application')->find(array($psk)); $this->form->setDefault('application', $app->getPsk()); $this->form->setDefault('version', $app->getVersion()->getLast()->getPsk()); On the initial GET, I can see the value passed in via psk getting set as the default for application in the generated HTML, and all the values show up in the POST request in Firebug, but after I bind the form, it still contains no values.

  • CakePHP – 2 controllers, 1 form

    - by user1327
    I need to create a review form. I have 2 models and 2 controllers – Products and Reviews with 'Products' hasMany 'Reviews' relationship, the review form will be displayed on the current product page (Products controller, 'view' action), and this form will be use another controller (Reviews). Also I need validation with validation errors being displayed for this form. In my Products controller view.ctp I have: // product page stuff... echo $this->Form->create($model = 'Review', array('url' => '/reviews/add')); echo $this->Form->input('name', array('label' => 'Your name:')); echo $this->Form->input('email', array('label' => 'Your e-mail:')); echo $this->Form->input('message', array('rows' => '6', 'label' => 'Your message:')); echo $this->Form->end('Send'); echo $this->Session->flash(); ReviewsController - add: public function add() { if ($this->request->is('post')) { $this->Review->save($this->request->data); $this->redirect(array('controller' => 'products', 'action' => 'view', $this->request->data['Review']['product_id'], '#' => 'reviews')); } } Somehow this horrible code works.. in part. Review saves, but I don't get validation errors, and I can't add 'if ($this->Review->save($this->request->data);) { //... } because it will break this action (missed view error). My question is how to properly deal with this situation to achieve functionality that I need? Should I use elements with request action or I should move adding reviews to the ProductsController?

  • cakephp - form for belongsTo Model

    - by user1511579
    I createt the following model to link 2 relational tables: class Ficha extends AppModel { //public $useTable = 'ficha_seg'; var $primaryKey = 'id_ficha'; var $name = 'Ficha'; var $belongsTo = array( 'Perigo' => array( 'className' => 'Perigo', 'foreignKey' => false, 'conditions' => 'Perigo.id_fichas = Ficha.id_ficha' ) ); } Now, i have a form that requires data from the class Ficha, and then is redirected to another ctp page where i will input the data for the table "Perigos". However, since i'm still a newbie in cakephp i'm having difficult building that second form to insert the data on the table "Perigos". Here goes the code i built at the moment related to the second form: FichasController.php (the method where is it supposed to save the data on the table "Perigos": public function preencher_ficha(){ if ($this->request->is('ficha')) { $this->Ficha->create(); if ($this->Ficha->Perigo->save($this->request->data)) { $last_id=$this->Ficha->getLastInsertID(); $this->Session->setFlash('Your post has been updated '.$last_id.'.'); //$this->redirect(array('action' => 'preencher_ficha')); } else { $this->Session->setFlash('Unable to qualquer coisa your post.'); } } } The preencher_ficha.ctp file with the form: echo $this->Form->create('Ficha->Perigo', array('action' => 'index')); echo $this->Form->input('class_subst', array('label' => 'Classificação:')); echo $this->Form->input('simbolos_perigo', array('label' => 'Símbolos:')); echo $this->Form->input('frases_r', array('label' => 'Frases:')); echo $this->Form->end('Finalizar Ficha'); Here i guess the create part is wrong, but i think i have errors too in the controller part.

  • Is it possible to get multiple forms to work with one ajax post function

    - by Scarface
    Hey guys I have a system where there is one form for each friend you have and I used to have an ajax post function for each form, but I want to save code and was wondering if it was possible to get multiple forms to work with just one post function. If anyone has any advice on how to achieve this I would appreciate it. For example <div id="message"> <form id='submit' class='message-form' method='POST' > <input type='hidden' id='to' value='friend1' maxlength='255' > Subject<br><input type='text' id='subject' maxlength='50'><br> Message<br><textarea id='message2' cols='50' rows='15'></textarea> <input type='submit' id='submitmessage' class='responsebutton' value='Send'> </form> </div> $(document).ready(function(){ $(".message-form").submit(function() { $("#submitmessage").attr({ disabled:true, value:\"Sending...\" }); var to = $('#to').attr('value'); var subject = $('#subject').attr('value'); var message = $('#message2').attr('value'); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "messageprocess.php", data: 'to='+ to + '&subject=' + subject + '&message=' + message, success: function(response) { if(response == "OK") { $('.message-form').html("<div id='message'></div>"); $('#message').html("<h2>Email has been sent!</h2>") .append("<p>Please wait...</p>") .hide() .fadeIn(1500, function() { $('#message').append(\"<img id='checkmark' src='images/check.png' />\"); });

  • Highlight active form with CSS?

    - by 2unco
    <!doctype html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"/> <style> form:focus{ background:red; } </style> <title>Home, sweet home</title> </head> <body> <form> <input type="text"/> <input type="submit"/> </form> <form> <input type="text"/> <input type="submit"/> </form> <form> <input type="text"/> <input type="submit"/> </form> </body> </html> This obviously doesn't work, as is why I'm asking the question. How can I get the form which has one if it's inputs as the focus to highlight? That is, I want to be able to apply styles to the active FORM, not the active INPUT - is that doable without JS or something?

  • Improved appointment rendering in RadScheduler for ASP.NET AJAX, Q1 2010

    Now that Q1 2010 release is out in the wild, we can sit down and discuss some of the changes we decided to make in the new release. One of them is the new appointment rendering of RadScheduler - a potentially breaking change, but a much needed one. If you have problems with your old custom skins, include the old base stylesheet along with your RadScheduler and set EnableEmbeddedBaseStylesheet=false in your RadScheduler. You can find the said base stylesheet attached to this post.   While trying to improve the performance of RadScheduler, I noticed that the number of resources slows down the rendering and overall performance considerably. This had to be expected - the images to support the appointment rounded corners (and the predefined resources) were quite large. However, I didnt take into account that all browsers keep for performance reasons their images uncompressed in memory and with the color depth of the current desktop. A simple calculation later I discovered that the appointment sprite itself is taking 25MB memory when loaded. Add 5 resources to the fray and you have 150MB memory down with a single blow. As it turns out - a sprite image is not a panacea, if it gets too big - dont be afraid to break it in two. The loading time may suffer, but your browser suffers more while rendering a 25MB monster. First I thought of undertaking the aforementioned solution - breaking the appointment sprite in two and thus reducing the two appointment sprites to mere 2MB uncompressed. Then I thought - the rounded corners are small - I can use borders and backgrounds to simulate rounded appointment borders while still keeping the same HTML structure. The gradients can be done with a single 10x50px image plus we have a gain - border colors and backgrounds can be changed on the fly.  I started with five rendering elements at first, then tried with four and finally I settled on only three elements.  Behold the new appointment rendering (quite simple really):       On the left you can see that the first container has only top and bottom borders and a background. In fact, the background isnt even needed since it will be obscured by the elements on top of it. The whole first container is only needed for the four dots that reside in the four corners of the appointment. On top of this container is another one that holds the left and right borders and slightly lighter background to create the illusion of a second lighter border beside the other two. At last on top of all others is placed the text container that also holds the top and bottom borders and the gradient background. On the right you can see the final result - Im quite happy with it and I hope you will be too. After creating the new rendering we took another step further - we decided to use alpha gradients for the resource rendering, thus supporting any color appointments with rounded corners and gradients. You can see some examples below:We plan on adding BorderColor and BackColor properties  to the ResourceStyles definitions for Q1 SP1. However with the new rendering in Q1 2010 we do support BackColor and BorderColor appointment properties - you only need to set AppointmentStyleMode=Default to keep RadScheduler from switching to Simple appointment rendering. Here is one screenshot of RadScheduler with appointments set to different colors: I hope that you will enjoy working with the new appointments in RadScheduler. • ASP.NET AJAX Modal Popup on Mouse Over

    Todays customer question concerns client side predicates for showing a Modal Popup control. Im happy to be getting these kind of questions because it shows how ASP.NET developers are continuing to evolve their web development perspective and separate server logic execution and client logic execution. Though the Modal Popup Extender is a Server Side control extender it HAS client side events and methods. This exposes the Modal Popup to any JavaScript coding that we want. • Multiplayer card game using PHP/Ajax and mysql

    - by Alireza Seifi
    I am designing a map game, using PHP and MYSQL. I don't know how to make the players who sign-in to the website to see other players who are also connected to the site and be able to chat with one another. I want to design the game in such a way that 2 players can play with each other and be able to send messages during the game while others groups are playing at the same time. I have designed the map game successfully, but the problem is making the player 1 who log-in to site to see the player 2 who will also log-in and both can get connected to play each other. http://i.stack.imgur.com/YyCPG.png I will appreciate your responses.

  • jQuery Ajax Error Handling – How To Show Custom Error Messages

    - by schnieds
    So you want to make your error feedback nice for your users…Kind of an ironic statement isn’t it? We obviously want to avoid errors if at all possible in our applications, but when errors do occur then we want to provide some nice feedback to our users. The worst thing that can happen is to blow up a huge server exception page when something goes wrong or equally bad is not providing any feedback at all and leaving the user in the dark. Although I do not recommend displaying actual .NET Framework exception messages or stack traces to the user in most instances; they are usually not helpful to the user and can be a security concern.... • Advantages to Server Scripting languages over Client Side Scripting languages

    There are numerous advantages to server scripting languages over client side scripting languages in regards to creating web sites that are more compelling compared to a standard static site. Server side scripts are executed on a web server during the compilation of data to return to a client. These scripts allow developers to modify the content that is being sent to the user prior to the return of the data to the user as well as store information about the user. In addition, server side scripts allow for a controllable environment in which they can be executed. This cannot be said for client side languages because the developer cannot control the users’ environment compared to a web server. Some users may turn off client scripts, some may be only allow limited access on the system and others may be able to gain full control of the environment.  I have been developing web applications for over 9+ years, and I have used server side languages for most of the applications I have built.  Here is a list of common things I have developed with server side scripts. List of Common Generic Functionality: Send Email FTP Files Security/ Access Control Encryption URL rewriting Data Access Data Creation I/O Access The one important feature server side languages will help me with on my website is Data Access because my component will be backed with a SQL server database. I believe that form validation is one instance where I might see server side and client side scripts used interchangeably because it does not matter how or where the data is validated as long as the data that gets inserted is valid.

  • Fun with RadCaptcha for ASP.NET AJAX and OCR software

    A friend of mine was evaluating OCR software and finally decided to go with FineReader. I was curious what would happen if we put the RadCaptcha control in. Will the advanced OCR manage to decode it or not? At first he showed me a test run with the RadCaptcha demo description, to get an idea of the basic output:    Naturally, the captured description text was no problem - only a few characters were misread but then corrected with the spellcheck. Next, the real test was performed:    These were only a couple of the results, but there is no need to post the rest of the tests - none of the RadCaptcha images were recognized by the OCR software. Here are the CaptchaImage settings used in the tests: Background Noise Level: Low /default value Line Noise Level: Low /default value Font Warp Factor: Low /Medium is default value...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • AJAX Control Toolkit - Globalization (Language)

    - by Guilherme Cardoso
    For those who use AjaxToolKit controls presenting a language-dependent data (the CalendarExternder with the names of the months and weeks, for example) you can change the language to be presented in a simple way. In Web.Config let's define the primary culture as follows: < system . web > <System. Web> < globalization uiCulture = "pt-pt" culture = "pt-pt" /> <Globalization UICulture = "en-us" culture = "en-us" /> ... ...  In this example I'm using Portuguese. To finish it is necessary to change our ScriptManager. Be it the ToolScriptManager AjaxToolKit or belonging to the ScriptManager's framework. NET, the properties as a vibrant and true are the EnableScriptGlobalization EnableScriptLocalization. < cc1 : ToolkitScriptManager ID = "ToolkitScriptManager1" runat = "server" EnableScriptGlobalization = "true" EnableScriptLocalization = "true" > <Cc1: ToolkitScriptManager ID = "ToolkitScriptManager1" runat = "server" EnableScriptGlobalization = "true" EnableScriptLocalization = "true"> </ cc1 : ToolkitScriptManager > </ Cc1: ToolkitScriptManager> or < asp : ScriptManager ID = "ScriptManager1" runat = "server" EnableScriptGlobalization = "true" EnableScriptLocalization = "true" > <Asp: ScriptManager ID = "ScriptManager1" runat = "server" EnableScriptGlobalization = "true" EnableScriptLocalization = "true"> </ asp : ScriptManager > </ Asp: ScriptManager>   Like hus we use the controls on AjaxToolKit, always using the Portuguese language. It is important that AjaxTookKit is updated to avoid shortages or errors in translation, though I have not updated by this error in the ModalPopup the latest version, and any controls that I have used are translated correctly.

  • Writing Unit Tests for an ASP.NET MVC Action Method that handles Ajax Request and Normal Request

    - by shiju
    In this blog post, I will demonstrate how to write unit tests for an ASP.NET MVC action method, which handles both Ajax request and normal HTTP Request. I will write a unit test for specifying the behavior of an Ajax request and will write another unit test for specifying the behavior of a normal HTTP request. Both Ajax request and normal request will be handled by a single action method. So the ASP.NET MVC action method will be execute HTTP Request object’s IsAjaxRequest method for identifying whether it is an Ajax request or not. So we have to create mock object for Request object and also have to make as a Ajax request from the unit test for verifying the behavior of an Ajax request. I have used NUnit and Moq for writing unit tests. Let me write a unit test for a Ajax request Code Snippet [Test] public void Index_AjaxRequest_Returns_Partial_With_Expense_List() {     // Arrange       Mock<HttpRequestBase> request = new Mock<HttpRequestBase>();     Mock<HttpResponseBase> response = new Mock<HttpResponseBase>();     Mock<HttpContextBase> context = new Mock<HttpContextBase>();       context.Setup(c => c.Request).Returns(request.Object);     context.Setup(c => c.Response).Returns(response.Object);     //Add XMLHttpRequest request header     request.Setup(req => req["X-Requested-With"]).         Returns("XMLHttpRequest");       IEnumerable<Expense> fakeExpenses = GetMockExpenses();     expenseRepository.Setup(x => x.GetMany(It.         IsAny<Expression<Func<Expense, bool>>>())).         Returns(fakeExpenses);     ExpenseController controller = new ExpenseController(         commandBus.Object, categoryRepository.Object,         expenseRepository.Object);     controller.ControllerContext = new ControllerContext(         context.Object, new RouteData(), controller);     // Act     var result = controller.Index(null, null) as PartialViewResult;     // Assert     Assert.AreEqual("_ExpenseList", result.ViewName);     Assert.IsNotNull(result, "View Result is null");     Assert.IsInstanceOf(typeof(IEnumerable<Expense>),             result.ViewData.Model, "Wrong View Model");     var expenses = result.ViewData.Model as IEnumerable<Expense>;     Assert.AreEqual(3, expenses.Count(),         "Got wrong number of Categories");         }   In the above unit test, we are calling Index action method of a controller named ExpenseController, which will returns a PartialView named _ExpenseList, if it is an Ajax request. We have created mock object for HTTPContextBase and setup XMLHttpRequest request header for Request object’s X-Requested-With for making it as a Ajax request. We have specified the ControllerContext property of the controller with mocked object HTTPContextBase. Code Snippet controller.ControllerContext = new ControllerContext(         context.Object, new RouteData(), controller); Let me write a unit test for a normal HTTP method Code Snippet [Test] public void Index_NormalRequest_Returns_Index_With_Expense_List() {     // Arrange               Mock<HttpRequestBase> request = new Mock<HttpRequestBase>();     Mock<HttpResponseBase> response = new Mock<HttpResponseBase>();     Mock<HttpContextBase> context = new Mock<HttpContextBase>();       context.Setup(c => c.Request).Returns(request.Object);     context.Setup(c => c.Response).Returns(response.Object);       IEnumerable<Expense> fakeExpenses = GetMockExpenses();       expenseRepository.Setup(x => x.GetMany(It.         IsAny<Expression<Func<Expense, bool>>>())).         Returns(fakeExpenses);     ExpenseController controller = new ExpenseController(         commandBus.Object, categoryRepository.Object,         expenseRepository.Object);     controller.ControllerContext = new ControllerContext(         context.Object, new RouteData(), controller);     // Act     var result = controller.Index(null, null) as ViewResult;     // Assert     Assert.AreEqual("Index", result.ViewName);     Assert.IsNotNull(result, "View Result is null");     Assert.IsInstanceOf(typeof(IEnumerable<Expense>),             result.ViewData.Model, "Wrong View Model");     var expenses = result.ViewData.Model         as IEnumerable<Expense>;     Assert.AreEqual(3, expenses.Count(),         "Got wrong number of Categories"); }   In the above unit test, we are not specifying the XMLHttpRequest request header for Request object’s X-Requested-With, so that it will be normal HTTP Request. If this is a normal request, the action method will return a ViewResult with a view template named Index. The below is the implementation of Index action method Code Snippet public ActionResult Index(DateTime? startDate, DateTime? endDate) {     //If date is not passed, take current month's first and last date     DateTime dtNow;     dtNow = DateTime.Today;     if (!startDate.HasValue)     {         startDate = new DateTime(dtNow.Year, dtNow.Month, 1);         endDate = startDate.Value.AddMonths(1).AddDays(-1);     }     //take last date of start date's month, if end date is not passed     if (startDate.HasValue && !endDate.HasValue)     {         endDate = (new DateTime(startDate.Value.Year,             startDate.Value.Month, 1)).AddMonths(1).AddDays(-1);     }     var expenses = expenseRepository.GetMany(         exp => exp.Date >= startDate && exp.Date <= endDate);     //if request is Ajax will return partial view     if (Request.IsAjaxRequest())     {         return PartialView("_ExpenseList", expenses);     }     //set start date and end date to ViewBag dictionary     ViewBag.StartDate = startDate.Value.ToShortDateString();     ViewBag.EndDate = endDate.Value.ToShortDateString();     //if request is not ajax     return View("Index",expenses); }   The index action method will returns a PartialView named _ExpenseList, if it is an Ajax request and will returns a View named Index if it is a normal request.
