• What would be the equivalent VB.NET code for this C# FluentNHibernate component mapping?

  I'm a C# programmer constrained to write VB.NET code. While exploring NHibernate further for my current client, I encountered FluentNHibernate, which I find real attractive. But now, I wonder how to "translate" this C# code for component mapping into VB.NET code: Component(x => x.Address, m => { m.Map(x => x.Number); m.Map(x => x.Street); m.Map(x => x.PostCode); }); I know from here: Component(Of Client)(Function(c) c.Address, ...) what I miss is how to continue with the brackets in VB.NET, since there's no Begin End keywords or so. EDIT 1: Following Mr. JaredPar instructions, I figured that his solution might work. If we take the time to read his answer, we may notice that we both don't know what the MType is within his solution. I might have found out that the MType is: FluentNHibernate.Mapping.ComponentPart(Of TComponent) Thus, TComponent is, from my understanding, an anonymous type that I shall parameter to use. From this point of view, since I wish to map the properties of my Address object, replacing TComponent in my help method signature seems not to work. It sees my Address type, it recognizes it, but it seems buggy somehow. I guess VBNET is poorly designed for lambda expressions and is less evolved than C# (Sorry, a bit of frustration due to the constraint of working with it and not being capable of doing things VERY easily done in C#.) • In Castle Windsor, can I register a Interface component and get a proxy of the implementation?

  Lets consider some cases: _windsor.Register(Component.For<IProductServices>().ImplementedBy<ProductServices>().Interceptors(typeof(SomeInterceptorType)); In this case, when I ask for a IProductServices windsor will proxy the interface to intercept the interface method calls. If instead I do this : _windsor.Register(Component.For<ProductServices>().Interceptors(typeof(SomeInterceptorType)); then I cant ask for windsor to resolve IProductServices, instead I ask for ProductServices and it will return a dynamic subclass that will intercept virtual method calls. Of course the dynamic subclass still implements 'IProductServices' My question is : Can I register the Interface component like the first case, and get the subclass proxy like in the second case?. There are two reasons for me wanting this: 1 - Because the code that is going to resolve cannot know about the ProductServices class, only about the IProductServices interface. 2 - Because some event invocations that pass the sender as a parameter, will pass the ProductServices object, and in the first case this object is a field on the dynamic proxy, not the real object returned by windsor. Let me give an example of how this can complicate things : Lets say I have a custom collection that does something when their items notify a property change: private void ItemChanged(object sender, PropertyChangedEventArgs e) { int senderIndex = IndexOf(sender); SomeActionOnItemIndex(senderIndex); } This code will fail if I added an interface proxy, because the sender will be the field in the interface proxy and the IndexOf(sender) will return -1.

  Hi all, SKIP TO UPDATE 3 I want to enable the Seam debug page on Weblogic 10.3.2 (11g). So, I have done the following: I have the jboss-seam and jboss-seam-debug jars as dependency in both my ejb and web maven projects (both are modules of my superproject) I put this context parameter in my web.xml: <context-param> <param-name>org.jboss.seam.core.init.debug</param-name> <param-value>true</param-value> </context-param> Now, when I hit the URL of my application, I get the debug page with this exception (full stacktrace at the end of the post): Caused by java.lang.IllegalStateException with message: "No phase id bound to current thread (make sure you do not have two SeamPhaseListener instances installed)" From posts I read it seems that this is somehow related to two jars of jboss-seam or jboss-seam-debug being in the classpath. I opened my ear file and only one of each is present (in the ear) whereas the war itself has no libraries in the WEB-INF/lib. I have also read of another way to initialize debug page using the components.xml. They have an outer EAR project containing the inner WAR project. They discuss that this may be related to how jars end up in the projects. I use Maven, and I had set it to create "Skinny Wars", that is excluding all jar dependencies from the inner WAR project, so that it remains small in size. All its dependencies are contained in the EAR and are used by all other modules. I changed the settings of the maven-war-plugin to leave inside the war the web-specific jars (the ones mentioned in the link, like RichFaces, jboss-seam-debug, Facelets etc). However, the problem has reverted to its previous form. I now get the debug page, whatever link I press, with the initial exception. When deploying WITH jboss-seam-debug.jar in the EAR (EAR/lib directory), the application does not appear, but ONLY the debug page with the following exception (stacktrace at the end): Exception during request processing: Caused by java.lang.IllegalStateException with message: "No phase id bound to current thread (make sure you do not have two SeamPhaseListener instances installed)" When "JBoss-izing" the same EAR (remove hibernate jars, which are provided by JBoss, and move all libraries from EAR/lib to EAR root), the application loads correctly. BOTH the application AND the debug page appear correctly. • Windows 7 Pro sysprep not working

  Hello, I'm trying to sysprep a Windows 7 Professional machine, prior to grabbing an image for mass deployment on identical hardware, and am having a hard time getting sysprep to work (at all). I've created an XML answer file with WSIM, and have a basic setupcomplete.cmd file, but none of the configurations in the answer file seem to be applied. I've read technet articles and googled, and I still have no idea why this is happening. • In Seam what's the difference between injected EntityManager and getEntityManager from EntityHome

  I am testing a Seam application using the needle test API. In my code I am using the getEntityManager() method from EntityHome. When I run the unit tests against an in memory database I get the following exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException: No application context active at org.jboss.seam.Component.forName(Component.java:1945) at org.jboss.seam.Component.getInstance(Component.java:2005) at org.jboss.seam.Component.getInstance(Component.java:1983) at org.jboss.seam.Component.getInstance(Component.java:1977) at org.jboss.seam.Component.getInstance(Component.java:1972) at org.jboss.seam.framework.Controller.getComponentInstance(Controller.java:272) at org.jboss.seam.framework.PersistenceController.getPersistenceContext(PersistenceController.java:20) at org.jboss.seam.framework.EntityHome.getEntityManager(EntityHome.java:177) etc .. I can resolve some of these errors by injecting the EntityManager with @In EntityManager entityManager; Unfortunately the persist method of EntityHome also calls the getEntityManager. This means a lot of mocks or rewriting the code somehow. Is there any workaround and why is this exception thrown anyway? I am using Seam 2.2.0 GA by the way. There is nothing special about the components. They are generated by seam-gen. The test is performed with in memory database - I followed the examples in http://jbosscc-needle.sourceforge.net/jbosscc-needle/1.0/db-util.html.

  I have several tabs and one of the tabs uses rich:extendedDataTable. If sortBy is clicked in the page where table is used and if I navigate to another page, it looks for the bean of the old page and throws an error saying that sortyBy of the column is undefined. E.g. If I use sortBy on userId in tab1 (where the column must have sortBy="#{data.userId}") and then I click on tab2, it looks for the data.userId and throws an error.   Hello, I'm having a somewhat weird problem with custom JSF component. This doesn't make sense. Why would writeAttribute differentiate between the two strings? Additional info: The component extends UIComponentBase I am using it with facelets

• Why does the JSF action tag handler in JSP invoke rendering immediately after creation?

  Dear fellows, I read the article "Improving JSF by Dumping JSP" from Hans Bergsten. There I read the following: The JSP container processes the page and invokes the JSF action tag handlers as they are encountered. A JSF tag handler looks for the JSF component it represents in the component tree. If it can't find the component, it creates it and adds it to the component tree. It then asks the component to render itself. and furthermore On the first request, the action creates its component and asks it to render itself. I understand that the immediate rendering after the creation of the component is the problem here (The reference to the input component can't be resolved in the example). That's one point, why JSF doesn't fit with JSP. But it reads as if the action tag handler itself would ask the component to render. Or is it JSP that triggers the rendering directly after the action tag handler created the component. If it is the action tag handler, I don't understand, why this is the fault of JSP. What is different here than from JSF intended? Thanks for your help, I need this for my thesis.

• How can I limit asp.net control actions based on user role?

  I have several pages or views in my application which are essentially the same for both authenticated users and anonymous users. I'd like to limit the insert/update/delete actions in formviews and gridviews to authenticated users only, and allow read access for both authed and anon users. I'm using the asp.net configuration system for handling authentication and roles. This system limits access based on path so I've been creating duplicate pages for authed and anon paths. The solution that comes to mind immediately is to check roles in the appropriate event handlers, limiting what possible actions are displayed (insert/update/delete buttons) and also limiting what actions are performed (for users that may know how to perform an action in the absence of a button.) However, this solution doesn't eliminate duplication - I'd be duplicating security code on a series of pages rather than duplicating pages and limiting access based on path; the latter would be significantly less complicated. I could always build some controls that offered role-based configuration, but I don't think I have time for that kind of commitment right now. Is there a relatively easy way to do this (do such controls exist?) or should I just stick to path-based access and duplicate pages? Does it even make sense to use two methods of authorization? There are still some pages which are strictly for either role so I'll be making use of path-based authorization anyway. Finally, would using something other than path-based authorization be contrary to typical asp.net design practices, at least in the context of using the asp.net configuration system?

Implementing comments by my own is too hard and it's not very safe. Maybe someone had and experience integrating some existing joomla component for an own component? Update: Maybe I can copy-paste code of some existing joomla comments component in my own component? Does somebody tried to do this?

• Windows 8&ndash;Custom WinRT components and WinJS

  Wow, I’m still alive! I installed the RTM of Windows 8 when it became available, and in the last few days have started taking a look at writing a windows 8 app using HTML/JS, which in and of itself is a weird thing. I don’t think that windows developers of 10 years ago would’ve thought something like this would have ever come about. As I was working on this, I ran across a problem, found the solution, and thought I’d blog about it to try and kick start me back into blogging. I already answered my own question on Stack Overflow, but will explain here. I needed to create a custom WinRT component to do some stuff that I either wouldn’t be able to or didn’t know how to do with the javascript libraries available to me. I had a javascript class defined like this: WinJS.Namespace.define("MyApp", { MyClass: WinJS.Class.define(function() { //constructor function }, { /*instance members*/ }, { /*static members*/ }) }); This gives me an object I can access in javascript: var foo = new MyApp.MyClass(); I created my WinRT component like this: namespace MyApp { public sealed class SomeClass { public int SomeMethod() { return 42; } } }   With the thought that from my javascript, I’d be able to do this: var foo = new MyApp.MyClass(); var bar = new MyApp.SomeClass(); //from WinRT component foo.SomeProperty = bar.SomeMethod();   When I tried this, I got the following error when trying to construct MyApp.MyClass (the object defined in Javascript) 0x800a01bd - Javascript runtime error: Object doesn't support this action. I puzzled for a bit, then noticed while debugging that my “MyApp” namespace didn’t have anything in it other than the WinRT component. I changed my WinRT component to this: namespace MyAppUtils { public sealed class SomeClass { //etc } } And after this, everything was fine. So, lesson learned: If you’re using Javascript and create a custom WinRT component, make sure that the WinRT component is in a namespace all its own. Not sure why this happens, and if I find out why or if MS says something about this somewhere, I’ll come back and update this.

  Is there a way to handle the dynamic change of a dropdown for a single row in a grid-based datawindow? Example: NAME LIKABILITY PURCHASED IN COLOUR (Text) (DropDown*) (Text) (Text) Bananas [Good] Hands Yellow [Bad] [Bananas are good] Apples [Good] Bags Red [Bad] Given the above is a grid-based datawindow, where the fields 'NAME','PURCHASED IN' and 'COLOUR' are text fields, where as the 'LIKABILITY' field is a dropdown*. I say dropdown* because the same visual representation can be created by using a DropDownList (hardcoded within the datawindow element at design time), or a DropDownDW (or DDDW, a select statement that can be based on other elements in the datawindow). However, there is no way I can get 'Bananas' having it's 3 dropdowns, while Apples has only 2. If I enter multiple rows of 'Bananas', then all rows have 3 dropdowns, but as soon as I add an Apples row, all dropdowns revert to 2 selections. To attempt to achieve this functionality, I have tried the following options: -- 1) dw_1.Object.likability.values("Good~tG/Bad~tB/Bananas are good~tDRWHO") on ue_itemchange when editing NAME. FAILS: edits all instances of LIKABILITY instead of the current row. -- 2) Duplicate Dropdowns, having one filtered, one unfiltered selection list per row, visible based on NAME selection. FAILS: can't set visibility/overlapping columns on grid-based datawindow. (Source) -- 3) Hard-code display value as Database value, or Vice Versa. Have 'GOOD','BAD','BANANASAREGOOD' as the display and database values, and change handling of options from G, B, DRWHO to these new values. FAILS: 3rd option appears for all rows, still selectable on Apple rows, which is wrong. -- 4) DDDW retrieve list of options for dropdown. Create a DDDW that uses the value of NAME to determine what selections it should have for the dropdown. FAILS: edits all instances of the dropdown, not just the current row. -- 5) DDDW retrieve counter of options available (if B then 3 else 2), then have duplicate dropdown columns that protect/unprotect based on DDDW counter. FAILS: Can't autoselect dddw value to populate column to cause protect on other two columns, ugly solution in any case. -- There is now a bounty on this question for anyone who can give me a solution that will enable me to edit a dropdown column for a single row on a grid-based datawindow in PB 10.5

  I have found urls to install ubuntu to a HD. But my current system has been upgraded and updated so often that it does not resemble anything on the web or on my drive disks.
