  • subsonic.migrations and Oracle XE

    - by andrecarlucci
Hello, Probably I'm doing something wrong but here it goes: I'm trying to create a database using subsonic.migrations in an OracleXE version 10.2.0.1.0. I have ODP v 10.2.0.2.20 installed. This is my app.config: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <configSections> <section name="SubSonicService" type="SubSonic.SubSonicSection, SubSonic" requirePermission="false"/> </configSections> <connectionStrings> <add name="test" connectionString="Data Source=XE; User Id=test; Password=test;"/> </connectionStrings> <SubSonicService defaultProvider="test"> <providers> <clear/> <add name="test" type="SubSonic.OracleDataProvider, SubSonic" connectionStringName="test" generatedNamespace="testdb"/> </providers> </SubSonicService> </configuration> And that's my first migration: public class Migration001_Init : Migration { public override void Up() { //Create the records table TableSchema.Table records = CreateTable("asdf"); records.AddColumn("RecordName"); } public override void Down() { DropTable("asdf"); } } When I run the sonic.exe, I get this exception: Setting ConfigPath: 'App.config' Building configuration from D:\Users\carlucci\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\Wum\Wum.Migration\App.config Adding connection to test ERROR: Trying to execute migrate Error Message: System.Data.OracleClient.OracleException: ORA-02253: especifica‡Æo de restri‡Æo nÆo permitida aqui at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleConnection.CheckError(OciErrorHandle errorHandle, Int32 rc) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand.Execute(OciStatementHandle statementHandle, CommandBehavior behavior, Boolean needRowid, OciRowidDescriptor& rowidDescriptor, ArrayList& resultParameterOrdinals) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand.ExecuteNonQueryInternal(Boolean needRowid, OciRowidDescriptor& rowidDescriptor) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at SubSonic.OracleDataProvider.ExecuteQuery(QueryCommand qry) in D:\@SubSonic\SubSonic\SubSonic\DataProviders\OracleDataProvider.cs:line 350 at SubSonic.DataService.ExecuteQuery(QueryCommand cmd) in D:\@SubSonic\SubSonic\SubSonic\DataProviders\DataService.cs:line 544 at SubSonic.Migrations.Migrator.CreateSchemaInfo(String providerName) in D:\@SubSonic\SubSonic\SubSonic.Migrations\Migrator.cs:line 249 at SubSonic.Migrations.Migrator.GetCurrentVersion(String providerName) in D:\@SubSonic\SubSonic\SubSonic.Migrations\Migrator.cs:line 232 at SubSonic.Migrations.Migrator.Migrate(String providerName, String migrationDirectory, Nullable`1 toVersion) in D:\@SubSonic\SubSonic\SubSonic.Migrations\Migrator.cs:line 50 at SubSonic.SubCommander.Program.Migrate() in D:\@SubSonic\SubSonic\SubCommander\Program.cs:line 264 at SubSonic.SubCommander.Program.Main(String[] args) in D:\@SubSonic\SubSonic\SubCommander\Program.cs:line 90 Execution Time: 379ms What am I doing wrong? Thanks a lot for any help :) Andre Carlucci UPDATE: As pointed by Anton, the problem is the subsonic OracleSqlGenerator. It is trying to create the schema table using this sql: CREATE TABLE SubSonicSchemaInfo ( version int NOT NULL CONSTRAINT DF_SubSonicSchemaInfo_version DEFAULT (0) ) Which doesn't work on oracle. The correct sql would be: CREATE TABLE SubSonicSchemaInfo ( version int DEFAULT (0), constraint DF_SubSonicSchemaInfo_version primary key (version) ) The funny thing is that since this is the very first sql executed by subsonic migrations, NOBODY EVER TESTED it on oracle.

  • Reusable calendar popup like iCalendar/scheduler on iPad? Not a date picker wheel.

    - by MikeN
I need a date picker that shows an actual calendar (similar to the built-in calendar feature on the iPad.) Is there a reusuable widget? How could I easily implement one? The date picker wheel is terrible because it doesn't show you the day of the week (Sun, Mon, Tue...) and isn't really needed on the iPad where you have enough room to show a calendar which is a very user friendly way of letting someone pick a date (it is mentally easy to find the third Tuesday from today.)

  • Oracle 9i Session Disconnections

    - by mlaverd
[Cross-Posting from ServerFault] I am in a development environment, and our test Oracle 9i server has been misbehaving for a few days now. What happens is that we have our JDBC connections disconnecting after a few successful connections. We got this box set up by our IT department and handed over to. It is 'our problem', so options like 'ask you DBA' isn't going to help me. :( Our server is set up with 3 plain databases (one is the main dev db, the other is the 'experimental' dev db). We use the Oracle 10 ojdbc14.jar thin JDBC driver (because of some bug in the version 9 of the driver). We're using Hibernate to talk to the DB. The only thing that I can see that changed is that we now have more users connecting to the server. Instead of one developer, we now have 3. With the Hibernate connection pools, I'm thinking that maybe we're hitting some limit? Anyone has any idea what's going on? Here's the stack trace on the client: Caused by: org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: could not execute query at org.hibernate.exception.SQLStateConverter.handledNonSpecificException(SQLStateConverter.java:126) [hibernate3.jar:na] at org.hibernate.exception.SQLStateConverter.convert(SQLStateConverter.java:114) [hibernate3.jar:na] at org.hibernate.exception.JDBCExceptionHelper.convert(JDBCExceptionHelper.java:66) [hibernate3.jar:na] at org.hibernate.loader.Loader.doList(Loader.java:2235) [hibernate3.jar:na] at org.hibernate.loader.Loader.listIgnoreQueryCache(Loader.java:2129) [hibernate3.jar:na] at org.hibernate.loader.Loader.list(Loader.java:2124) [hibernate3.jar:na] at org.hibernate.loader.hql.QueryLoader.list(QueryLoader.java:401) [hibernate3.jar:na] at org.hibernate.hql.ast.QueryTranslatorImpl.list(QueryTranslatorImpl.java:363) [hibernate3.jar:na] at org.hibernate.engine.query.HQLQueryPlan.performList(HQLQueryPlan.java:196) [hibernate3.jar:na] at org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl.list(SessionImpl.java:1149) [hibernate3.jar:na] at org.hibernate.impl.QueryImpl.list(QueryImpl.java:102) [hibernate3.jar:na] ... • How to install WE8EBCDIC500 on Oracle XE?

    - by wishihadabettername
I need to make the "WE8EBCDIC500" character set available in an Oracle XE installation (on my desktop) to import a mainframe-generated file. Running SELECT value FROM v$nls_valid_values WHERE parameter='CHARACTERSET' does not show this character set to be installed and I get KUP-03006: error initializing handle for character set WE8EBCDIC500 when attempting to use it. How can this be done? Thanks.

  • Is there any ready-made calendar control for iPhone apps?

    - by chester
I am building an applicaiton for the iPhone that will display upcoming and past events. I settled for a list view, but then I realized that a calendar (just like the one displayed in the "month" view in the built-in Calendar application) would be a best match (that is, this one). However, the iPhone Human Interface Guidelines just mentions the Date Picker, not the calendar, so I believe there is nothing like that out of the box. Is that true? If so, does anyone know of a third-party control that could be used? (I could write one myself, but I'd rather pick up something ready, since this is a departure on the original project plans). Thank you all for your attention.

  • Implement a calender with Ruby and Javascript in Rails

    - by samuel02
I'm trying to implement a calendar with Ruby and Javascript in Rails. I'm using a calendar helper that creates a calendar with given year and month and events as parameters (<%= calendar(:year => 2012, :month => 4, :events => @events %>). I also have three buttons next, today and previous with which the user should be able to navigate the calendar with. I am also going to implement some js that makes it possible to select dates in the calendar. So what I would like to do is to insert the calendar in the DOM with javascript in order to generate a new calendar when the user clicks one of the buttons. That way I will be able to control the behavior of the buttons and add the select functionality. The problem is that I can't just insert my erb code in a javascript plus I'm not even sure it's the right way to go? Any suggestions are appreciated!

  • How to create a Appointment in a Shared Calendar (Sharepoint) with VBA (Macro)?

    - by Diogo K.
I am actually trying to make an appointment from an excel spreadsheet. I have all the information of the appointment, like subject, body, start and end dates, I actually can create an appointment but only with my personal calendar in outlook. How do I copy/move/create an appointment in a shared calendar in a sharepoint server? I've tried: Dim apOL As Object Dim objFolder As Folder Dim cro As String Set apOL = CreateObject("Outlook.Application") Set oItem = apOL.CreateItem(olApItem) Set MAPISession = apOL.Session ... cro = "stssync://sts/?ver=1.0&type=calendar&cmd=add-folder&base-url=(MY SP SERVER)&list-url=%2FLists%2FCronograma%20%20%2Fcalendar%2Easpx&guid=%7B02717CEF%2D404F%2D482F%2DA131%2D5C3C245CD268%7D&site-name=Testes&list-name=Cronograma%20-" ... Set objFolder = MAPISession.OpenSharedFolder(cro, Null,Null,Null) It gives me the error "Type Mismatch" I'd try to get the objFolder as the Sharepoint Folder then later create an local appointment and then try an Item.Move objFolder Is it the correct way?

  • Add event to all elements except the given with jQuery

    - by Metropolis
Hey everyone I created a date picker that uses ajax to populate an element with an id of calendarContainer. When the user clicks on a button to bring the calendar up, I want the user to be able to click anywhere else on the screen besides the calendar and have it hide. The calendarContainer is at the root of the dom and I have tried everything I can think of to get this working. I have gotten the calendar to go away when it is not clicked on. However, when I click on the calendar it is also going away. I only want the calendar to go away when it is not clicked on. Here are all of the things I have tried. $(":not(#calendarContainer > table)").live('click', function() { $.Calendar.hide(); }); $(":not(#calendarContainer").live('click', function() { $.Calendar.hide(); }); $(":not(#calendarContainer)").click(function() { $.Calendar.hide(); }); $("body:not(#calendarContainer)").click(function() { $.Calendar.hide(); }); $(":not(#calendarContainer, #calendarData)").live('click', function() { $.Calendar.hide(); }); Thanks for any help, Metropolis

  • Network(ing) to the Limit

    - by Oracle OpenWorld Blog Team
By Karen Shamban While Oracle OpenWorld attendees are networking, there's an Oracle Global IT team that builds and maintains the massive networks that help run the show. The objective? To keep things running as seamlessly and smoothly as possible, constantly evaluate priorities, mitigate risk, and be ready for whatever might happen -- because things do happen when there are 50,000 plus attendees, tens of thousands of devices, unexpected requirements, and a constant flow of up-to-the-minute information. Here's just some of what it takes to keep the conference going, network style: 100 Oracle network, voice, and desktop engineers; security, risk management, and other IT experts, who come in from 17 countries  1000+ network switches 300+ miles of copper and fiber 485 wireless access points 2,500 wired laptops 300 VoIP phones And just where are all these networks and devices deployed? This is what the team had to build and manage: Moscone North, South, and West, including: The keynote hall Oracle DEMOgrounds in the Exhibition Halls Hundreds of session rooms Connection Centers, Social Avenue, Lounges Registration The Howard Street Tent and Taylor Street Cafe tented venues Oracle Square (Union Square) Yerba Buena Gardens Masonic Auditorium Sessions and demos at 8 hotel venues That's a whole lot of networking going on. And here's the kicker: the team has only 4 days to bring get it all up and running across these many venues, and exactly 12 hours to take it all down once the show ends. The Global IT team puts in the equivalent of 152 24-hour days for set-up, 227 24-hour days of support during the conferences, and then tears it all down in about 20 24-hour days. And in case you were wondering, the planning for next year's Oracle OpenWorld starts ... next week. No rest for the weary.  Now THAT's networking!  So hats off to the Global IT team -- the job ain't easy, but somebody's got to do it, and they do it remarkably well.

  • How to sync two computers using new MobileMe calendar

    - by CesarGon
I have been using MobileMe for over a year with success. I use it to sync my Outlook calendars in my work and home computers, using Windows 7 and Outlook 2007. The main Outlook calendar folder in my work computer is replicated to MobileMe as "Work", and synced to my home computer, and the main calendar folder in my home computer is replicated to MobileMe as "Home", and synced to my work computer. This means that I can see both "Work" and "Home" calendars from both computers (as well as from the web interface through me.com), which is very convenient. Yesterday I migrated to the new MobileMe calendar, accepting the suggestion that popped up on the me.com website. After the migration, the MobileMe control panel on each of Windows computers asked me to re-configure my calendar setup, and everything fell apart. The "Home" and "Work" calendar folders in Outlook are now ignored by MobileMe, and new ones named "Home in MobileMe" and "Work in MobileMe" have been created, and placed in a separate Outlook data file rather than the default. This means that now: I now have four folders, two of which are not replicated to MobileMe The two folders that are not replicated reside on a separate data file, so alarms and reminders don't work; they're basically useless to me as calendar folders In addition, the button in the MobileMe Control Panel that used to let me specify what MobileMe folder should be synced against the default Outlook folder has gone. MobileMe is now too smart. Do you have any idea how to undo this mess and go back to a situation where I have two folders, as described in the top paragraph, which keep synced? I don't want an extra data file. Thanks.

  • Solutions on how to use an OS X calendar as a more perfect time tracking solution for 5-10 users in a small agency?

    - by jnthnclrk
I really like OS X's iCal. Entering events is easy with the mouse and it also gives you a very real visual sense of how long tasks take to complete. We often work remotely in our organisation, so we use a few shared calendars between key individuals to provide us with an overview of hours worked, availability & schedule conflicts without too much disruption to our various, hectic workflows. It really is a neat solution, especially on shared tasks. How many times have you tasked a remote colleague and then lost the thread on whether that task was completed or not? With shared calendars you get a much clearer idea of what your people are working on without having to pick up the phone or compose a chat. However, there are a few areas where this approach fails... iCloud syncing often needs to be re-jiggered The "view only" option on shared calendars does not seem to work, which makes all shared calendars editable by others There is no decent reporting with this workflow There is no task categorisation or tagging Things get very busy in iCal when working with more than 2 shared calendars I've looked at a few task management apps like Basecamp and Harvest, but nothing appears to let me edit my calendar natively and then sync with a 3rd party. Interested in solutions to improve the above workflow and enable us to elegantly increase the amount of users.

  • Improved Performance on PeopleSoft Combined Benchmark using SPARC T4-4

    - by Brian
Oracle's SPARC T4-4 server running Oracle's PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 combined online and batch benchmark achieved a world record 18,000 concurrent users experiencing subsecond response time while executing a PeopleSoft Payroll batch job of 500,000 employees in 32.4 minutes. This result was obtained with a SPARC T4-4 server running Oracle Database 11g Release 2, a SPARC T4-4 server running PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 application server and a SPARC T4-2 server running Oracle WebLogic Server in the web tier. The SPARC T4-4 server running the application tier used Oracle Solaris Zones which provide a flexible, scalable and manageable virtualization environment. The average CPU utilization on the SPARC T4-2 server in the web tier was 17%, on the SPARC T4-4 server in the application tier it was 59%, and on the SPARC T4-4 server in the database tier was 47% (online and batch) leaving significant headroom for additional processing across the three tiers. The SPARC T4-4 server used for the database tier hosted Oracle Database 11g Release 2 using Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) for database files management with I/O performance equivalent to raw devices. Performance Landscape Results are presented for the PeopleSoft HRMS Self-Service and Payroll combined benchmark. The new result with 128 streams shows significant improvement in the payroll batch processing time with little impact on the self-service component response time. The PeopleSoft HRSS benchmark kit is a Oracle standard benchmark kit run by all platform vendors to measure the performance. It's an OLTP benchmark where DB SQLs are moderately complex. The results are certified by Oracle and a white paper is published. PeopleSoft HR SS defines a business transaction as a series of HTML pages that guide a user through a particular scenario. Users are defined as corporate Employees, Managers and HR administrators. The benchmark consist of 14 scenarios which emulate users performing typical HCM transactions such as viewing paycheck, promoting and hiring employees, updating employee profile and other typical HCM application transactions. All these transactions are well-defined in the PeopleSoft HR Self-Service 9.1 benchmark kit. This benchmark metric is the weighted average response search/save time for all the transactions. The PeopleSoft 9.1 Payroll (North America) benchmark demonstrates system performance for a range of processing volumes in a specific configuration. This workload represents large batch runs typical of a ERP environment during a mass update. The benchmark measures five application business process run times for a database representing large organization. They are Paysheet Creation, Payroll Calculation, Payroll Confirmation, Print Advice forms, and Create Direct Deposit File. The benchmark metric is the cumulative elapsed time taken to complete the Paysheet Creation, Payroll Calculation and Payroll Confirmation business application processes. The benchmark metrics are taken for each respective benchmark while running simultaneously on the same database back-end. Specifically, the payroll batch processes are started when the online workload reaches steady state (the maximum number of online users) and overlap with online transactions for the duration of the steady state. Key Points and Best Practices Two PeopleSoft Domain sets with 200 application servers each on a SPARC T4-4 server were hosted in 2 separate Oracle Solaris Zones to demonstrate consolidation of multiple application servers, ease of administration and performance tuning. Each Oracle Solaris Zone was bound to a separate processor set, each containing 15 cores (total 120 threads). The default set (1 core from first and third processor socket, total 16 threads) was used for network and disk interrupt handling. This was done to improve performance by reducing memory access latency by using the physical memory closest to the processors and offload I/O interrupt handling to default set threads, freeing up cpu resources for Application Servers threads and balancing application workload across 240 threads. A total of 128 PeopleSoft streams server processes where used on the database node to complete payroll batch job of 500,000 employees in 32.4 minutes. • Using Open MQ as an Oracle CEP Event Source

    - by seth.white
I helped an Oracle CEP customer recently who wanted to use Open MQ has an event source for their Oracle CEP application.  In this case, the Oracle CEP application was being used to provide monitoring for an electronic commerce website, however, the steps for configuring Open MQ are entirely independent of the application logic. I thought I would list the configuration steps in a blog post in case they might help others in the future. Note that although the Oracle CEP documentation states that only WebLogic and Tibco JMS are "officially" supported, any JMS implementation that provides a Java client should work with Oracle CEP. The first step is to add an adapter to the application's EPN. This can be done in the usual way, using the Eclipse IDE. The end result is something like the following bit of configuration in the application's Spring application context. Note that the provider attribute value of 'jms-inbound' specifies that the out-of-the-box JMS adapter is being used. <wlevs:adapter id="helloworldAdapter" provider="jms-inbound"> </wlevs:adapter>   Next, configure the inbound adapter so that it can connect to Open MQ in the Oracle CEP configuration file (config.xml). The snippet below provides an example of what this configuration should look like. The exact values specified for jndi-provider-url, jndi-factory, connection-jndi-name, destination-jndi-name elements will depend on your Open MQ configuration.  For example , if the name of your Open MQ topic destination is 'ElectronicCommerceTopic', then you would specify that as the destination-jndi-name.  The name of your Open MQ connection factory goes in the connection-jndi-name element. In my simple example, I also specify in event-type element so that the out-of-the-box JMS adapter will attempt to automatically convert incoming messages to events of type HelloWorldEvent. In a more complex application, one would configure a custom converter on the JMS adapter to convert from messages to events.  The Oracle CEP 11.1.3 documentation describes how to do this.   <jms-adapter> <name>helloworldAdapter</name> <event-type>HelloWorldEvent</event-type> <jndi-provider-url>file:///C:/Temp</jndi-provider-url> <jndi-factory>com.sun.jndi.fscontext.RefFSContextFactory</jndi-factory> <connection-jndi-name>YourJMSConnectionFactoryName</connection-jndi-name> <destination-jndi-name>YourJMSDestinationName</destination-jndi-name> </jms-adapter>   Finally, one needs to package the client-side Open MQ jars so that the classes that they contain are available to the Oracle CEP runtime. The recommended way for doing this in the Oracle CEP 11.1.3 release is to package the classes as a library module or simply place them in the application bundle.  The advantage of deploying the classes as a library module is that they are available to any application that wants to connect to Open MQ. In my case, I packaged the classes in my application bundle. A best practice when you want to include additional jars in your application bundle is to create a 'lib' directory in your Eclipse project and then copy the required jars into that directory.  Then, use the support that Eclipse provides to add the jars to the bundle classpath (which makes the classes part of your application in the same way that regular application classes are), and export all of the classes from your application bundle so that they are available to the Oracle CEP server runtime.  The screenshot below Illustrates how this is done in Eclipse.  The bundle classpath contains two Open MQ jars and all packages in the jars are exported.     Finally, import the javax.jms and javax.naming packages into the application module as these are needed by the Open MQ classes. The screenshot below shows the complete list of package imports for my sample application.       Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to build and deploy your application and begin receiving inbound messages from Open MQ. The SPECjEnterprise2010 benchmark has been designed and developed to cover the Java EE 5 specification's significantly expanded and simplified programming model, highlighting the major features used by developers in the industry today. This provides a real world workload driving the Application Server's implementation of the Java EE specification to its maximum potential and allowing maximum stressing of the underlying hardware and software systems. The workload consists of an end to end web based order processing domain, an RMI and Web Services driven manufacturing domain and a supply chain model utilizing document based Web Services. The application is a collection of Java classes, Java Servlets, Java Server Pages, Enterprise Java Beans, Java Persistence Entities (pojo's) and Message Driven Beans. The SPECjEnterprise2010 benchmark heavily exercises all parts of the underlying infrastructure that make up the application environment, including hardware, JVM software, database software, JDBC drivers, and the system network. The primary metric of the SPECjEnterprise2010 benchmark is jEnterprise Operations Per Second ("SPECjEnterprise2010 EjOPS"). This metric is calculated by adding the metrics of the Dealership Management Application in the Dealer Domain and the Manufacturing Application in the Manufacturing Domain. There is no price/performance metric in this benchmark. Key Points and Best Practices Sixteen Oracle WebLogic server instances were started using numactl, binding 2 instances per chip. Eight Oracle database listener processes were started, binding 2 instances per chip using taskset. Additional tuning information is in the report at http://spec.org. • SQL Server for the Oracle DBA Links

    - by BuckWoody
I do a presentation (and a class) called "SQL Server for the Oracle DBA". It's a non-marketing overview that gives you the basics of working with SQL Server if you're already familiar wtih how Oracle works. This class and these links DO NOT help you with "Why should I use Oracle/SQL Server instead of Oracle/SQL Server" - I'll assume you're already there, and if not, there are LOTS of sites to help you make that decision. Although these links might contain slight marketing slants (I don't control them) I've tried to get the best links I can. Feel free to comment here to add more/better links. As such, these aren't links that help you work with Oracle - they are links to help you work with SQL Server. Some of them contain more information than you actually need, others don't have near enough. Taken together (and with the class) you're able to get done what you need to do.
