  • custom progress bar in net compact framework

    Hi all, I want to have my own progress bar in .net compact framework, instead of default wait cursor. I have tried with a form, having only a progress bar, and showing and hiding the form when I want to show some background activity running, but that does not update the progress bar. I have found out that it needs to be on different thread. I am quite weak at threads, I cant get it working. Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

    I have a class Bar: class Bar { public: Bar(void); ~Bar(void); }; And a class Foo that gets a reference to Bar object as a constructor parameter and needs to save it in a private member bar_ : class Foo { private: Bar& bar_; public: Foo(Bar& bar) : bar_(bar) {} ~Foo(void) {} }; This doesn't compile : overloaded member function not found in 'Parser' missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int Now i suspect couple of things that i need to assure, the second error is for Bar& bar_; declaration in Foo. Do i need to use an explicit constructor when declaring bar_ ? I am interested in learning how the compiler works regarding this matter, so a detailed explanation would be highly appreciated.     I want to be able to design my own UITableViewCell in IB. But I keep getting a null ref exception when trying to access the label I defined in IB. Here's what I'm doing: In Interface Builder: I removed the "View" and added a UITableViewCell instead. Changed the class of the UITableViewCell to "TestCellView". Added a UILabel to the cell. Added an outlet "oLblText" to TestCellView and connected the UILabel to it. Changed the identifier of the class to "TestCellView". I wish to show them differing their properties by changing the text style (parent list items are in bold, child list items are in normal style).     Hello Is there any way of using JSF2.0 in connection with variable lists of components? For example, lets say I have list o people that I would like to edit. They are presented on the page as list of components PersonEditor, which allow changing person data. Each editor is associated with single Person element. In order for this to work I need to perform following steps: On initial request: Get list of people For each person create PersonEditor and associate it with Person object. Fill editor's data. On user action: When user changes values and presses Save, data is processed by backing bean. I can either fill editor with data from list of people or bind it to the backing bean, but not at the same time, so I am stuck.     so I'm trying to get some info in the auto-complete widget like it's shown in the JQuery UI demo Demo, the only problem is they use a variable that they fill with the data they want to show, I instead want to access the data and the different description and stuff using a Data Base in MySQL, for this I have changed the source to use another php page that looks up the info. here is the code for the Auto-complete, I really don't understand the methods so I haven't changed it from the basic search.   • Objective C number keypad, custom comma button

    I'm trying to add a comma button on a number keypad that has previous, next and done buttons, so that it looks like this : Problem is, that the orange button does not respond to taps. Actually if I moved it above the "7" button and tapped it, the 7 would be tapped. So my orange button may be shown above the keyboard, but it's reacting to taps as if it were below.   • MediaElement not showing in custom 3D class

    I'm trying to display a videostream in a Viewport3d. When I add the MediaElement via xaml, the video plays without a problem; even when I add the video as ModelVisual3D in the code-behind, the video works. When I abstract the video into a class, however, the video stops appearing. This happens with both web and local video files. I tried compiling with both x86 and 64 bit. Any way to fix this behaviour? Why is this happening?     In one of our class sir said that template allows one to customize behavior of class, and then he gave example of string class, that with few lines of code we can customize string class from STL, as in, we can make it to treat 'a' and 'z' same, 'b' and 'y' same, 'c' and 'x' same and so on. Similary 'A' and 'Z' same etc. "abc" == "zyx" is true; "Abc" == "zyx" is false; "Abc == "Zyx" is true; etc I was thinking of implementing such string class, but I am not able to do so. I would like to also would like to use a HashSet<Foo> to keep track of "canonical values" e.g. I have a class that I would like to write like this, so that if I have two separate objects that are equivalent I can coalesce them into references to the same object: class Canonicalizer<T> { final private Set<T> values = new HashSet<T>(); public T findCanonicalValue(T value) { T canonical = this.values.get(value); if (canonical == null) { // not in the set, so put it there for the future this.values.add(value); return value; } else { return canonical; } } } except that Set doesn't have a "get" method that would return the actual value stored in the set, just the "contains" method that returns true or false. (I guess that it assumes that if you have an object that is equal to a separate object in the set, you don't need to retrieve the one in the set) Is there a convenient way to do this?   • Android: Custom Clock widget Service work-around?

    I was interested in developing a clock widget for the homescreen and upon reading Home Screen Widgets tutorial, is there a pre-existing Service I could reference for updating the current time rather than re-inventing the wheel? I have currently Retro Clock on my android phone and noticed that when I click it, it pops up the Alarm Clock settings, but with the default Google Analog Clock widget, upon click does nothing. Is that because the Retro Clock widget implements the Alarm Clock service? If so, how can I go about referencing that service? Or do I have this all wrong and misunderstood? Any help is appreciated. EDIT: I believe implementing the service to update the clock would drain the battery life tremendously, any ideas on a work around or help shed some light on any performance issues with using Service?

  • Hundreds of custom UserControls create thousands of USER Objects

    I'm creating a dashboard application that shows hundreds of "items" on a FlowLayoutPanel. Each "item" is a UserControl that is made up of 12 or labels. My app queries a database and then creates an "item" instance for each record, populating ethe labels and textboxes with data before adding it to the FlowLayoutPanel. After adding about 560 items to the panel, I noticed that the USER Objects count in my Task Manager had gone up to about 7300, which was much much larger than any other app on my machine. I did a quick spot of mental arithmetic (OK, I might have used calc.exe) and figured that 560 * 13 (12 labels plus the UserControl itself) is 7280. So that suddenly gave away where all the objects were coming from... Knowing that there is a 10,000 USER object limit before windows throws in the towel, I'm trying to figure better ways of drawing these items onto the FlowLayoutPanel. My ideas so far are as follows: 1) User-draw the "item", using graphics.DrawText and DrawImage in place of many of the labels. I'm hoping that this will mean 1 item = 1 USER Object, not 13. 2) Have 1 instance of the "item", then for each record, populate the instance and use the Control.DrawToBitmap() method to grab an image and then use that in the FlowLayoutPanel (or similar) So... Does anyone have any other suggestions ??? P.S. It's a zoomable interface, so I have already ruled out "Paging" as there is a requirement to see all items at once :( Thanks everyone.

    I am hoping to clarify the processes going on here. I have created a subclass of UIButton whose init method looks like this: - (id)initWithTitle:(NSString *)title frame:(CGRect)btnFrame { self = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [self setTitle:title forState:UIControlStateNormal]; self.frame = btnFrame; return self; } In my view controller I am creating one of these buttons and adding it as a subview: myButton = [[CustomButton alloc] initWithTitle:@"Title" frame:someFrame]; [self.view addSubview:myButton]; In the view controller's dealloc method I log the retain count of my button: - (void)dealloc { NSLog(@"RC: %d", [myButton retainCount]); //RC = 2 [super dealloc]; NSLog(@"RC: %d", [myButton retainCount]); //RC = 1 } The way I understand it, myButton is not actually retained, even though I invoked it using alloc, because in my subclass I created an autorelease button (using buttonWithType:). In dealloc, does this mean that, when dealloc is called the superview releases the button and its retain count goes down to 1? The button has not yet been autoreleased? Or do I need to get that retain count down to zero after calling [super dealloc]? Cheers.

    I am developing a website but require help regarding a simple javascript audio player. Currently, I have four divs set up as the "buttons" : previous song; pause; play; and next song. Pretty much self explanatory, each button serves its obvious function, previous song, pause the song, play the song, and next song. With this in mind, I am also hoping to have the music start playing right after the page completes loading. I understand there are numerous javascript solutions that involve the use of third-party "applications" such as jplayer, however, I am not well learned in javascript and would like to request the aid of the general body in this matter. LOL. that was awkwardly formal. Um, but yes. I am looking for a way to use my four divs as the controllers of a multi-track audio player. Thanks,
