deleting and reusing a temp table in a stored precedures

Hi I need to SELECT INTO a temp table multiple times with a loop but I just can't do it, because after the table created( in SELECT into you can't simply drop the table at the end of the loop because you can't delete a table and create it again in the same batch. so how can I delete a table in a stored procedure and create it again? here is a snippet of where I am actualy using the temp table which is supposed to be a pivoting algorithm: WHILE @offset<@NumDays BEGIN SELECT bg.*, j.ID, j.time, j.Status INTO #TEMP1 FROM #TEMP2 AS bg left outer join PersonSchedule j on bg.PersonID = j.PersonID and bg.TimeSlotDateTime = j.TimeSlotDateTime and j.TimeSlotDateTime = @StartDate + @offset DROP TABLE #TEMP2; SELECT * INTO #TEMP2 FROM #TEMP1 DROP TABLE #TEMP1 SET @offset = @offset + 1 END

How to return a variable from a javascript function into html body.

Hi there, I am still new to javascript, and I am trying to get a function to return a variable using html & javascript. Basically the function should just return whichever radio button that the user clicks on, although at the moment I don't see anything being returned at all. The function is here: <script type="text/javascript"> function GetSelectedItem() { var chosen = "" len = document.f1.r1.length for (i = 0; i <len; i++) { if (document.f1.r1[i].checked) { chosen = document.f1.r1[i].value } } } return chosen </script> And then in the html section I have these radio buttons, and my attempt to get the variable "chosen" output to the screen. <form name = f1><Input type = radio Name = r1 Value = "ON" onClick=GetSelectedItem()>On <Input type = radio Name = r1 Value = "OFF" onClick =GetSelectedItem()>Off</form> <script type ="text/javascript">document.write(chosen)</script> At the moment nothing seems to be getting returned from the function (although if I output the variable 'chosen' inside the function then it is working correctly. Writing all the html of a document with jquery instead of in the page body?

I'm a UI person currently working on a web application, where most of the people I work with are back end developers. I'm currently at a disagreement with them about whether or not the above is a prudent thing to do. This application doe use quite a bit of JavaScript, and wouldn't even work without it unfortunately. This being the case, One of the back end developers that I'm working with is claiming that pages could and even SHOULD be build completely with JavaScript or jquery. This caught me completely off guard. We're talking about div tags, lists, background images and text here. I'm trying to explain to him that this isn't the right way to do things at all, and from a best practices perspective: content(html) should be separate from presentation(css), and behavior(script etc.). I know that it's possible to write html in jquery, although I haven't done it, but am I wrong in my thinking that this isn't the way things should be done. Is it even possible to write ALL the code with jquery? would love to hear any thoughts either way, as I will be discussing this with him again tomorrow.

How to insert the recently inserteddata of a table to others DB's Table? See description...

I am using MySQL DB and I have created a PHP script for the following, now i need the idea for the below asked question.... please help... I have a table called audit trail whose structure is: id, trackid, table, operation, newvalue, oldvalue, field, changedone I have created triggers for insert/update/delete for every table of same DB, now whenever there is change in ny DB the triggers get activated and updates the Audit trail table accordingly.. I am tracking these changes so that i can use these changes to be done on production DB which is of same structure as of this test DB. Also when the admin finds that he does not need the changes recently he did for production DB then he can rollback it using the Old Data it stored in Ausittrail table of test db. Now here in audit trail table structure, there will be an insert for every single field change like-wise if a table has 4 fields then the change in that tavle will insert 4 rows in audit trail.. Coming to the question now, How can i find the latest change done from the Audit table so that I can insert these changes in Production DB.

how to integrate my users database table with the aspnet_users table that comes with asp.net members

i have a database that already has a users table COLUMNS: userID - int loginName - string First - string Last - string i just installed the asp.net membership table. Right now all of my tables are joined into my users table foreign keyed into the "userId" field How do i integrate asp.net_users table into my schema? here are the ideas i thought of: Add a membership_id field to my users table and on new inserts, include that new field in my users table. This seems like the cleanest way as i dont need to break any existing relationships. break all existing relationship and move all of the fields in my user table into the asp.net_users table. This seems like a pain but ultimately will lead to the most simple, normalized solution any thoughts?

Control-Break Style ADF Table - Comparing Values with Previous Row

Sometimes you need to display data in an ADF Faces table in a control-break layout style, where rows should be "indented" when the break column has the same value as in the previous row. In the screen shot below, you see how the table breaks on both the RegionId column as well as the CountryId column. To implement this I didn't use fancy SQL statements. The table is based on a straightforward Locations ViewObject that is based on the Locations entity object and the Countries reference entity object, and the join query was automatically created by adding the reference EO. Hey! So I'm trying to code something on wordpress for the first time but the validator doesn't seem to like me. My thoughts on the future of the web with respect to flash, plugins, etc…

More than 10 years ago I was coding Java applets. They were great at the time because I could reasonably expect them to run the same way in Netscape and Internet Explorer. I could also reliably do asynchronous networking back to the server. But then, Microsoft pulled their native Java runtime from Windows and Internet Explorer. It got a lot harder to get applets running in people’s browsers. So I started writing ActiveX controls for IE and Java applets for Netscape. Then I switched to Flash, not for too long, but it was enough for me to see that it was a capable and curious implementation of animation, multimedia and script. I even wrote a few Silverlight controls, but then I stopped. I stepped back from all of the “richness” and “interactivity” and I thought about things like accessibility and SEO. I wondered how my apps and sites might appear to the greater world. I wondered how the developers I am working with, or who might be inheriting my code down the road, might interact with it. And I thought to myself, What the hell was I thinking? Those embedded controls are not what the web is about, and they run contrary to nearly all of the things that makes the web exciting and fosters innovation within and around. Those plugins or controls, or whatever you want to refer to them as, are only stop-gaps that fill a hole in the basic HTML/Script/CSS specifications, and that’s all they should ever be used for. Full stop. Period. For instance, I still make use of a nifty little flash control called SWFUpload because it lets me check file size before an upload starts. I can do the same thing from a Silverlight control. But rest assured, if I could do this from native javascript, I would in a second. In fact, the only reason I chose SWFUpload over a ton of other alternatives is that it has a great javascript API so I can do (nearly) all of the UI in regular HTML. And I ALWAYS provide a non-flash alternative for uploading, and for the rest of any website where the designer has insisted on some piece of creativity that requires flash (usually because the designer is also the flash developer, but that’s an aside…). The web is about openness, and about exposing that openness in such a way that it can be taken advantage of as a small part of a greater whole. Sure we need security and authentication and ssl and all that stuff, but for me, its something more profound. For me, the majority of what the web is, is about exposing something that delivers meaning. What meaning can we derive from an <object> tag? more later - joel

Creating <li> with JavaScript in an XUL Application

Hi! I try to create some li elements in my XUL Application. Theres only the text of the elements shown, but no list typical bullets and linebreaks. Example: text text text text text text text Heres the JS Code I use to create the list: var li = document.createElement('html:li'); var txt = document.createTextNode("only shown as simple text"); li.appendChild(txt); document.getElementById('someList').appendChild(li); HTML: <html:ul id="someList"> <html:li>this is shown in correct list style</html:li> </html:ul> I tried 'html:li' and also 'li' but nothing worked. iOS Touch Icon through XLSX file?

I'm setting up some iPads, and pointing Safari to www.mywebsite.com/spreadsheet.xlsx and it's displaying the document fine. That part is OK. I'm just wondering if there is a way to add a iOS Icon to the document so I can save it to the springboard of the iPad? Maybe embedding the document in HTML? PHP could also possibly be used but I'm really not sure how I would go about doing this, has anyone managed anything like this before?

What shall I include in a 10 week web technologies course?

In September I will be teaching a university module on web technologies. This session will be available to 1st year (freshman) students who don't necessarily have any programming knowledge or know how the web works. In the 2nd semester I will be teaching Flash, which is my specialism, so I know exactly what I am going to teach, but in the 1st semester I will be teaching them web standards technologies - HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery, PHP and MySQL. Where I need advice is how to proportion the emphasis for each part, and which parts of each technology to cover. Another real issue I'm struggling with is how much of the bad old ways should I teach them? Do they need to know about bold as well as strong, etc. UPDATE: based, on your feedback I will only be teaching the latest version of everything - CSS3, HTML5 etc. I'm not sure exactly how long the semester will be but I'm guessing about 10-12 weeks. Each session is a 2 hour lab. Obviously there's only so much I can cover in that time and it will be up to the students to go a research this stuff properly on W3 schools etc. My ideas so far were: Lesson 0 - Course intro and overview of the current tech landscape. What is out there, what will we be learning, what won't we. What is a web server, URL etc. Looking at different example websites and discussing how they work. Lesson 1 - HTML basics (head, body, title, img, table, a, lists, h1, strong etc) Lesson 2 - CSS for styling and layout - fonts, webfonts, float etc Lesson 3 - Intro to programming JS (variables, loops, conditionals, functions) Lesson 4 - more JS programming fundamentals, DOM manipulation Lesson 5 - jQuery - making things fly about and look cool Lesson 6 - XML and Ajax Lesson 7 - PHP basics - syntax, server-side principles Lesson 8 - PHP and MySQL - forms, logins, saving user info Lesson 9 - don't know Lesson 10 - don't know Please let me know if you think this is the right order, what have I missed, how to use any spare sessions etc. Thanks :) UPDATE BASED ON RESPONSES: Thanks for all your responses - some great stuff. To be absolutely clear, this is not a computer science course, it is a practical module on a creative technology course. The emphasis definitely has to be on making cool things work rather than understanding how the backbone of the internet works. That can come later, if the students are interested. At the end of the module I would like the students to be able to produce a web page or pages that does something cool, using some or all of the technologies I cover. Many of these topics are of course far beyond the scope of a 2 hour session, however I do not have the option of reducing the syllabus, I will just have to explain what the technology does and encourage the student to research it in their own time.

Database Design Question

Hi, I am designing a database for a project. I have a table that has 10 columns, most of them are used whenever the table is accessed, and I need to add 3 more rows; View Count Thumbs Up (count) Thumbs Down (Count) which will be used on %90 of the queries when the table is accessed. So, my question is that whether it is better to break the table up and create new table which will have these 3 columns + Foreign ID, or just make it 13 columns and use no joins? Since these columns will be used frequently, I guess adding 3 more columns is better, but if I need to create 10 more columns which will be used %90 of the time, should I add them as well, or create a new table and use joins? I am not sure when to break the table if the columns are used very frequently. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance,

Image slider not working when website is hosted on remote server [on hold]

I'm having a different problem. I made a html website and it contains Nivo Slider in the index page. The site is working perfectly when viewed locally. I uploaded the site to remote server but the slider is not being displayed and the photo from the gallery is not working as expected ( popups on the local pc). Is there any software to clip a website, make changes to the code and republish it?

I am working in the front end of an application and we provide the interface between the customers and several backend services. We have been using Kapow software to clip the html/jsp code we receive from the backend, make the necessary changes and publish them on the main website. I wanted to know if there is any other alternative to this software which suffices our requirement. Also, are any of those open source?

Are there similar sites to jsdo.it and jsfiddle.net? [closed]

I'm looking for sites similar to jsdo.it and jsfiddle.net. I really like jsdo.it, as it provides a nice editor and the ability to fork, but I really can't stand the usability as it really gets to be a pain to use after a while. I also like jsfiddle.net, but it too has some usability issues and the URL for your fiddle changes every time you save. Are there any other good alternatives for in-browser HTML testing and development?

select from multiple tables with different columns

Say I got this sql schema. Table Job: id,title, type, is_enabled Table JobFileCopy: job_id,from_path,to_path Table JobFileDelete: job_id, file_path Table JobStartProcess: job_id, file_path, arguments, working_directory There are many other tables with varying number of columns and they all got foreign key job_id which is linked to id in table Job. My questions: Is this the right approach? I don't have requirement to delete anything at anytime. I will require to select and insert mostly. Secondly, what is the best approach to get the list of jobs with relevant details from all the different tables in a single database hit? e.g I would like to select top 20 jobs with details, their details can be in any table (depends on column type in table Job) which I don't know until runtime. SEO and suboptimal source code

I have a wordpress website for my business and its success will be largely dependent on google ranking. The structure of the theme I'm using is designed for a blog, not for a business website. That means the source code is quite ugly-looking. My question is, does it affect SEO at all? I know that it can affect SEO somehow by the page taking longer than needed to load, but apart from that, will there be any penalizing for having a suboptimal or confusing html structure? Thanks

Iframe scrolls over the fixed header in IE 11 , how to make it scroll under/behind the header?

In my html page, I have a header and its position is fixed. In the contant or body of the page I have an Iframe to display a youtube video and other DIV tabs. In other browsers like chrome, Morzilla etc all the contants schrolls behind the header and works fine!!. But In IE (IE 11), only the youtube video in Iframe scrolls over/aboves the header. How can I make it to scroll behind the header in IE. Thank in advance

Load the main page if user visits a page meant for an ajax request?

Hello, I am using jQuery for a simple website and have a main page 'index.html' which can load some content (e.g. 'info1.html' or 'info2.html') via jQuery ajax requests, and display the result of these requests inside an element in the 'index.html' page. If a user somehow visits say 'info1.html' directly, is their a way to redirect or load the main 'index.html' page? (or what's best practice for this type of thing) as Google is indexing all the small html files used for the ajax requests and sometimes a user can click into the site via these pages. Thanks.
