  • In Sinatra, best way to serve iPhone layout vs. normal layout?

    I'm writing a Sinatra app which needs to render different layouts based on whether the user is using an iPhone or a regular browser. I can detect the browser type using Rack-Mobile-Detect but I'm not sure of the best way to tell Sinatra which layout to use. Also, I have a feeling that how I choose to do this may also break page caching. Is that true?   • Haskell map function with predicate

    I feel like this should be fairly obvious, or easy, but I just can't get it. What I want to do is apply a function to a list (using map) but only if a condition is held. Imagine you only wanted to divide the numbers which were even: map (`div` 2) (even) [1,2,3,4] And that would give out [1,1,3,2] since only the even numbers would have the function applied to them. Obviously this doesn't work, but is there a way to make this work without having to write a seperate function that you can give to map? Filter is almost there, except I also want to keep the elements which the condition doesn't hold for, and just not apply the function to them. Thanks

  • Symfony: Pre filtering submitted values before/after validation

    Hi All I've been scouring the net and i have found nothing! I am using symfonys form framework to build a simple 'Create' form. Validation is fine. However i'd like to pre-filter my submitted values, so adding ucfirst, strtoupper, and the like. I'm not sure if im missing something crucial here, but the way i see it is the only way to do this would be to create my own custom validators and utilizing the doClean method, which seems daft since i'd have hundreds of validators for each php function! Hope you guys can help, i've been crawling through source code, api's, numerous books and blogs and i haven't found a thing :( Either it's impossible, or it's really easy, i hope its the latter!

  • Rails before_filter on subclasses beeing called twice

    Hi! I'm at Rails 2.3.5 and I have this problem: class BaseController < ApplicationController before_filter :foo, :only => [:index] end class ChildController < BaseController before_filter :foo, :only => [:index, :show, :other, :actions] end The problem is that on ChildController, the :foo before filter gets called twice. I've tried a number of workarounds around this problem. If I don't include the :index action on the child, it never gets called for that action. The solution I found works, but is very very ugly skip_before_filter :foo before_filter :foo, :only => [:index, :show, :other, :actions] Is there a better way to solve this problem? Thanks

    So I've got a large amount of SQL data that looks basically like this: user | src | dst 1 | 1 | 1 1 | 1 | 1 1 | 1 | 2 1 | 1 | 2 2 | 1 | 1 2 | 1 | 3 I want to filter out pairs of (src,dst) that are unique to one user (even if that user has duplicates), leaving behind only those pairs belonging to more than one user: user | src | dst 1 | 1 | 1 1 | 1 | 1 2 | 1 | 1 In other words, pair (1,2) is unique to user 1 and pair (1,3) to user 2, so they're dropped, leaving behind only all instances of pair (1,1). Any ideas? The answers to the question below can find the non-unique pairs, but my SQL-fu doesn't suffice to handle the complication of requiring that they belong to multiple users as well. I need to create a node with employee working hours (it's gonna be created for all users with role "employee"), which looks like this: Monday: From __ : __ To __ : __ Tuesday: From __ : __ To __ : __ Wednesday: From __ : __ To __ : __ etc. So, I'll have to create probably 14 CCK fields (monday_from, monday_to, tuesday_from...) or more to store the day of the week and workging hours (hours and minutes). 2. I need to add a view with exposed filters, where visitors can filter employees by day of the week and working hours. What kind of field should I use for working hours?   • VS 2008, is there a way to search properties like the old vb6/EVB? CTRL+SHIFT?

    I really miss the CTRL+SHIFT+CHAR searching of a property in VS 2008 that older IDE's had... typing CTRL+SHIFT+T got you to "tabindex" then Tag when pressed again. They dropped it in VS 2002 I believe, and the closest I could find to restoring any functionality like it was acorn's property window filter, which isn't exactly functional. Does anyone know of a way to get this functionality back? I hate having to browse through 30-40 properties in design mode, when a CTRL+SHIFT+T would get me right to text. Thanks!

    Writing generated PDF (ByteArrayOutputStream) in a Servlet to PrintWriter. I am desperately looking for a way to write a generated PDF file to the response PrintWriter. Since a Filter up the hierarchy chain has already called response.getWriter() I can't get response.getOutputStream(). I do have a ByteArrayOutputStream where I generated the PDF into. Now all I need is a way to output the content of this ByteArrayOutputStream to the PrintWriter. If anyone could give me a helping hand would be very much appreciated!

  • Render view to string followed by redirect results in exception

    So here's the issue: I'm building e-mails to be sent by my application by rendering full view pages to strings and sending them. This works without any problem so long as I'm not redirecting to another URL on the site afterwards. Whenever I try, I get "System.Web.HttpException: Cannot redirect after HTTP headers have been sent." I believe the problem comes from the fact I'm reusing the context from the controller action where the call for creating the e-mail comes from. More specifically, the HttpResponse from the context. Unfortunately, I can't create a new HttpResponse that makes use of HttpWriter because the constructor of that class is unreachable, and using any other class derived from TextWriter causes response.Flush() to throw an exception, itself.   • 401 Using Multiple Authentication methods IE 10 only

    I am not sure if this is more of a coding issue or server setup issue so I've posted it on stackoverflow and here... On our production site we've run into an issue that is specific to Internet Explorer 10. I am using jQuery doing an ajax POST to a web service on the same domain and in IE10 I am getting a 401 response, IE9 works perfectly fine. I should mention that we have mirrored code in another area of our site and it works perfectly fine in IE10. The only difference between the two areas is that one is under a subdomain and the other is at the root level. www.my1stdomain.com vs. portal.my2nddomain.com The directory structure on the server for these are: \my1stdomain\webservice\name\service.aspx \portal\webservice\name\service.aspx Inside of the \portal\ and \my1stdomain\ folders I have a page that does an ajax call, both pages are identical. $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: '/webservice/name/service.aspx/function', cache: false, contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', dataType: 'json', data: '{ "json": "data" }', success: function() { }, error: function() { } }); I've verified permissions are the same on both folders on the server side. This seems to be working in IE10 on Windows 7, however IE 10 on Windows 8 still sees the same issue. These pages are classic asp with the headers that are being included, also there are no other meta tags being used.   • OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 Refuses to Load Websites the first time intermittently

    Many times when I am browsing the web, Snow Leopard will sit and load a site for 20 seconds or more, until it times out and says it cannot be displayed. If I refresh, it loads RIGHT away, every time. The issue is intermittent but happens from once every couple of days to a few times a day. So the long and short of it is this: Aluminum MacBook (Non-Pro) 2.4GHz Core2Duo, 4GB DDR3 I am using 10.6.6 but I have had this issue since 10.6.0 It happens in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari I have flushed my DNS (using the command 'blablabla flush') I am using custom DNS servers which I hoped would fix it but it had no effect* I am running Apache currently but haven't been for most of the time I've reformatted multiple times, always experiencing the issue I am on Cox cable internet, with a Motorola Surfboard & a Belkin F6D4230-4 v1 (Pre?) N wireless router. I've put the router in G only & N only & G+N to no effect It seems to be domain dependant as I can sometimes load the Google cache right away, and sometimes other sites will load but Google will refuse My Powerbook G4 with Leopard, other Windows XP laptops, & my wired Win7 desktop do not suffer from the issue. *I recently started using these to escape the awful Cox redirect page on timeouts I'm almost positive the issue has happened on other networks but I can't recall a specific instance (I have a terrible memory). The problem is intermittent and fixable enough (I just have to wait until it times out and hit refresh one time) but incredibly annoying since I'm constantly reading documentation from a large variety of sites. EDIT: To clarify, this happens with ALL sites, not only specific sites. I haven't been able to detect any pattern to the failures, but one day Google.com will refuse to load while reddit.com will, and the next day vice versa. Keep in mind that waiting for a timeout and hitting refresh loads the page right away, every time. If I don't wait for the timeout, opening more links, hitting refresh, and clicking the link a billion times have no effect. It seems to be domain neutral, affecting sites seemingly at random. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with connection inactivity either, because I will be SSHed into different servers, uploading files, browsing, downloading, etc, and it will just quit loading Jquery.com (for example) until I sit and wait for a timeout. /EDIT This is my last resort. Please, someone, tell me what is happening. Thank you.

  • Why can I view my site over a 3G connection but not through my wifi?

    So, I am sitting in my office with four computers on the same network and internet connection. Two of the computers can visit this particular website. Two of the computer get a message "Google Chrome could not find". I have tried FF and IE also with the same problem. I can view the site 90% of the time on two of the working computers although the site seems slow and sometimes I also get the same errors as the other two computers. I have flushed the DNS, reset the router, tested the site on other peoples computers with success. Is this likely to be a site issue, an ISP issue, a hosting issue? Any advice is greatly appreciated.   • Anti-virus protection question?

    About 4 years ago, I found Kaspersky and have been using the most current version since. Most people try and argue the use of AVG or Avast to me, and there are some very solid reasons I do not go that route. Over the years, I have found Kasp to become bulkier and bulkier, and have had issues setting it up for friends/family/clients. I am just curios on possible recommendations from other users, with my criteria in mind: What I like about Kasp in the past: The license sold in stores in a 3 pack, is considered a commercial license, and emails from Kasp in response to my questions, make it clear that I can do with the 3 licenses that I want, providing I do not use more than 3 installs per Key. So, allowed me to buy 3, 5, and 7 packs, and resell to users at a cheaper cost than what they would pay if they bought their own license. The ability to easily obtain a currently updated .exe for installation on multiple peoples machines. Power of the scan. Kasp has been a good solution for me (even when using a trial license) on cleaning up machines that were badly infected (in which AVG and AVAST were unable to.) Speed of install/update. After a cleanup of malwarebytes, spybot, mcafee stinger, ccleaner, and combofix, I used to be able to get Kasp Int Security installed and updated in around 5 minutes. The issues that I have with the free AV, is strength of protection. In my opinion for someone who is a 'power use' these are good alternatives, because such a user should be trained or knowledgeable enough to be careful and not get themselves in trouble. Most of the users I assist, are too PC ignorant to know any better, and go hogwild on the web. It has been my experience that the number of people coming back to me with spyware/malware/virus issues since I have converted from AVG to Kasp has been cut down to around 20% of what it used to be 4 or 5 years ago. In a perfect world, I could install and use Kasp Internet Security 2008, and be very happy. But this is not the case anymore. So after this long description of what I used, and have used, does anyone have any good recommendations on AV that isn't going to cost me too much per install?

    Hey guys, I need to output my model as json and everything is going fine. However, some of the attributes need to be 'beautified' by filtering them through some helper methods, such as number_to_human_size. How would I go about doing this? In other words, say that I have an attribute named bytes and I want to pass it through number_to_human_size and have that result be output to json. I would also like to 'trim' what gets output as json if that's possible, since I only need some of the attributes. Is this possible? Can someone please give me an example? I would really appreciate it.

    If you do something like this in your Repository: IQueryable<CarClass> GetCars(string condition, params object[] values) { return db.Cars.Where(condition, values); } And you set the condition and values outside of the repository: string condition = "CarMake == @Make"; object[] values = new string[] { Make = "Ford" }; var result = myRepo.GetCars( condition, values); How would you be able to sort the result outside of the repository with Dynamic Query? return View( "myView", result.OrderBy("Price")); Somehow I am losing the DynamicQuery nature when the data exits from the repository. And yes, I haven't worked out how to return the CarClass type where you would normally do a Select new Carclass { fieldName = m.fieldName, ... }

  • How to debug browser crash when running Silverlight app

    I am on a team of three people who are developing a Silverlight application. On two of our developers' machines the app seems to randomly crash. It never crashes on the third developer's machine. The nature of the crash is that internet explorer just dies with an "Internet Explorer has stopped working" message. If I am attached to the app with the Visual Studio debugger the only information I get is this line in the output window: "The program '[2140] iexplore.exe: Silverlight' has exited with code -1073741819 (0xc0000005)." How should I go about debugging this problem? I'm not really sure where to start.

    I'm writing a small C# application that will use Internet Explorer to interact with a couple a websites, with help from WatiN. However, it will also require from time to time to use a proxy. I've came across Programmatically Set Browser Proxy Settings in C#, but this only enables me to enter a proxy address, and I also need to enter a Proxy username and password. How can I do that? Note: It doesn't matter if a solution changes the entire system Internet settings. However, I would prefer to change only IE proxy settings (for any connection). The solution has to work with IE8 and Windows XP SP3 or higher. I'd like to have the possibility to read the Proxy settings first, so that later I can undo my changes. EDIT With the help of the Windows Registry accessible through Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey, i was able to apply a proxy something like this: RegistryKey registry = Registry.CurrentUser.OpenSubKey("Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Internet Settings", true); registry.SetValue("ProxyEnable", 1); registry.SetValue("ProxyServer", "127.0.0.1:8080"); But how can i specify a username and a password to login at the proxy server? I also noticed that IE doesn't refresh the Proxy details for its connections once the registry was changed how can i order IE to refresh its connection settings from the registry? Thanks
