• Create a term-document matrix from files

  I have a set of files from example001.txt to example100.txt. Each file contains a list of keywords from a superset (the superset is available if we want it). So example001.txt might contain apple banana ... otherfruit I'd like to be able to process these files and produce something akin to a matrix so there is the list of examples* on the top row, the fruit down the side, and a '1' in a column if the fruit is in the file. An example might be... x example1 example2 example3 Apple 1 1 0 Babana 0 1 0 Coconut 0 1 1 Any idea how I might build some sort of command-line magic to put this together? I'm on OSX and happy with perl or python...

  I am trying to write a batch file that will automate the following manual process: Open a new cmd prompt (prompt1) Run a bat file (b1) Run a program (that will continue to run) Minimize prompt1 Open a new cmd prompt (prompt2) Run a bat file (b1) Run a different program (that will continue to run) Minimize prompt2 I've found ways to open multiple instances of cmd to run different things, but after I've run the first thing (b1), I then need to run a program in that same cmd window. I currently have start /min cmd /k C:\Users\db2admin\python_environment\Scripts\activate.bat start /min cmd /k C:\Users\db2admin\python_environment\Scripts\activate.bat This opens the two windows and runs the bat, great, but now I need to execute another command (running a python file) in each of the cmd windows. How do I send commands to each prompt?

• How to connect to VPN using commands in Linux (Fedora 16)

  Usually, I use the network connections icon on the top bar to connect to VPN. The connection is configured properly and it connects well. Configuration screen shot is given below. As you can see I have selected the 'Connect automatically' option. But this option doesn't help in connecting to VPN automatically upon login. This is my university VPN and it uses 'Point-to-Point encryption (MPPE)' for authentication I need to connect to the VPN using command line, so that I can write a script and run it at start up, so the connection is automatically established every time I login. This will also help in connecting to VPN when I login from 'init 3' mode. I depend on this VPN connection for my internet access. Please help me with the required commands.

What I'm looking for is a command-line method to increase the volume (so I can run it on all of them quickly) that would hopefully work regardless of the audio codec in use in the particular file. (I don't mind hard-coding the output audio though). For reference, I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 on my server, and the files are being played back with Boxee on a Mac Mini, but the volume problem is the same on Windows too.

• Vim equivalent to Emacs C-i?

  Does Vim have a command equivalent to Emacs' Ctrl-I? Emacs has an extremely useful shortcut "C-I" which fixes indentation of the current line (or selected lines.) For example, suppose you write this tiny code on Emacs: def foo print "boo" end and you are selecting the whole 3 lines. You press "C-I" then the code becomes def foo print "boo" end I can use this in quiet mode i.e. ignoring. Emacs as well. Does anyone know how to do this on Vim?

• Color in Cygwin terminal

  I've installed cygwin because I'm a bit fed up with the Windows terminal not being great. The only problem I'm having is the lack of colours. You can see the problem in the following 2 screenshots that display the same command: All I want is something which has a nice font, resizes properly (including proper behaviour when maximised) and support for colours. Ideally I'd like tabs too. This seems like a silly reason to end up buying a mac, so I'm hoping I can get all these things on windows somehow.

• Connect a linux server to network and access it from another computer browser

  I had a server in a hosting company and I took it home. I need to connect him to a local network (not wifi) and access to the server from another computer in the network via browser, like I did it when it was in the hosting company. I don't have any knowledge in linux, I just know how to type in the command line :) I thinks all the IP configuration of the server is one big mess, because it passed from more then one hosting company to another... I tried a lot of tutorials that I found in the web, but nothing works - mainly because I don't know how to check if I did something wrong. • PHP exec() on windows not working

This doesn't seem to be running through the script at all, even though it works when the command is manually entered into the command prompt. exec('C:\\ffmpeg -i ' . $movedfile .   Windows command line, I want to search a file for all rows starting with: # NNN "<file>.inc" where NNN is a number and <file> any string. I want to use findstr, because I cannot require that the users of the script install ack. Here is the expression I came up with: >findstr /r /c:"^# [0-9][0-9]* \"[a-zA-Z0-9_]*.inc" all_pre.txt The file to search is all_pre.txt. So far so good. Now I want to pipe that to another command, say for example more. >findstr /r /c:"^# [0-9][0-9]* \"[a-zA-Z0-9]*.inc" all_pre.txt | more The result of this is the same output as the previous command, but with the file name as prefix for every row (all_pre.txt). • Executing commands containing space in bash

  I have a file named cmd that contains a list of unix commands as follows: hostname pwd ls /tmp cat /etc/hostname ls -la ps -ef | grep java cat cmd I have another script that executes the commands in cmd as: IFS=$'\n' clear for cmds in `cat cmd` do if [ $cmds ] ; then $cmds; echo "****************************"; fi done The problem is that commands in cmd without spaces run fine, but those with spaces are not correctly interpreted by the script. • How to disable Center Key (CK) and let only Left Soft Key (LSK) be used in j2me

  Hello everyone, I created a custom item in which I need to use the Center Key for the purpose of selecting and I am successfully able to use it with the keyPressed event using the keyCode as -5. The problem is, as soon as I press the CK, it also clicks on the command above the LSK and that causes the menu to pop up. Is there any way that I can disable the CK for a particular command or something like that (because I dont need CK, since I can click on the command through LSK as well, I want to use the CK specifically for the custom item)?   Dear All , I have to generate keys from cWrsync, I have Command: "ssh-keygen -t rsa -q -N '' -f %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\.ssh\id_rsa" I placed that command into a batch file, that is pointing to cwRsync\bin directory, where ssh-keygen exe file is located, That batch file working fine Windows, But in Vista it is throwing unexpected result... the output of batch on Vista is: C:\Program Files\cwRsync\bin>ssh-keygen -t rsa -q -N '' -f C:\ProgramData\.ssh\i d_rsa open C:\\ProgramData\\.ssh\\id_rsa failed: Bad address. Saving the key failed: C:\ProgramData\.ssh\id_rsa. The intersting thing is that if i manually run this command in commandline , it again run successfully,

• Mac OS X bash prompt bug?

  I am trying to set my bash prompt to display the time and current directory in bold: export PS1="\[\e[1m\][\A] \w \$ \[\e[0m\]" This does apparently work, but when I use the command history (ctrl-r), after finding the command I was searching for and pressing enter, this line is not displayed correctly. Here is an example: [21:58] ~/Wyona/svn-repos/zwischengas $ (reverse-i-search)`ta': tail -F logs/log4j-cnode1.log becomes, after pressing enter: [21:58] ~/Wyona/svn-repos/zwischengas $ -F logs/log4j-cnode1.log Of course, this is not "really" a problem, since the command does work correctly, but it is still annoying. Does anybody know why this happens? And, more importantly, how to prevent/fix it? Thanks, Memo

Based on the variables sourced from that file, I would try to launch application. But somehow the variables are not getting sourced as echo does not return any values. • What is the accepted pattern for WPF commanding in MVVM?

  I'm working on a WPF app and I understand the command pattern pretty well, but I've found that there are several different implementations of the command pattern for MVVM. There's Josh Smith's implementation in his WPF sample app, the DelegateCommand from Prism, and the CommandBindings implementation. My question is, what is the generally accepted best practice for using commands with MVVM? My application uses Prism so DelegateCommand is available to us. The devs on my team are arguing about which approach is "best." Some don't like the numerous .cs files generated for each command, others prefer that everything be wired up via CommandBindings. I'm at a loss. Can anyone shed some light?

• Globbing with MinGW on Windows

  I have an application built with the MinGW C++ compiler that works something like grep - acommand looks something like this: myapp -e '.*' *.txt where the thing that comes after the -e switch is a regex, and the thing after that is file name pattern. It seems that MinGW automatically expands (globs in UNIX terms) the command line so my regex gets mangled. I can turn this behaviour off, I discovered, by setting the global variable _CRT_glob to zero. This will be fine for bash and other sensible shell users, as the shell will expand the file pattern. For MS cmd.exe users however, it looks like I will have to expand the file pattern myself. So my question - does anyone know of a globbing library (or facility in MinGW) to do partial command line expansion? I'm aware of the _setargv feature of the Windows CRT, but that expands the full command line. Please note I've seen this question, but it really does not address partial expansion.

I am writing a program that will solve a type of min. spanning tree problem. i have 2 different algorithms that I've gotten working in two separate .cpp files i've named kruskels.cpp and prims.cpp. my question is this: each file takes the following command line to run it . time ./FILENAME INPUTFILE FACTOR i would like to make a program that, depending on what inputfile is entered, will run either kruskels.cpp or prims.cpp. how can i do this? this program must pass those command line arguments to kruskels or prims. each file (kruskels.cpp and prims.cpp) are designed to be run using those command line arugments (so they take in INPUTFILE and FACTOR as variables to do file io). this should be for c++.

It looks like this: cat input.txt myprogram -path "/home/user/work" I try to debug the code with gdb inside emacs, by M-x gdb, I try to load the program with the command: gdb cat input.txt myprogram -path "/home/user/work" However, gdb does not like it. Question cribbed from here. Unfortunately I don't understand the solution and am not sure what to do beyond compiling with the -g option and running the command M-x gdb.

• How to package AIR 2 native installer?

  I have made an AIR 2.0 app that uses NativeProcess so it needs to be packaged as a native installer (.exe) rather than a .air file. I first tried using Package Assistant but I kept getting an error telling me it cannot load keystore file. so I tried using the command line I use: pathToAirSDK>adt -args but I get an error telling me that "adt" is not a known command so I try: pathToAirSDK>adt.jar -args but I get a pop up telling me windows does not know how to open adt.jar files. Has anyone packaged a native installer for an AIR 2.0 app? How did you do it? edit forgot to mention I am doing this in windows using the windows command line.

• Calling an svn update from a php script via a browser is not working

  Hey guys, I have two scripts. running an update and calling shell_exec('svn update') and shell_exec('svn st') running a mysqldump shell_exec('mysqldump params') The svn script is not running the update command, the svn st is printing results but not the svn update I tried to declare parameters when calling svn update eg 'svn update ' . dir . ' --username myuser --password mypasswd --non-interactive'; -- still nothing Played with most of the params If this is something related to binaries/permissions/groups, I don't see it. The mysqldump command works fine and is producing a file, so why isn't the svn updating the filesystem? Please do not advise using core SVN classes in PHP. This is not an option, I don't have complete control over the server and the module is not available. Thanks for your help, -hbt PS: important thing to mention here. The scripts works when called via the command line. It only fails when called via a web browser.

• Is it bad practice to use python's getattr extensively?

  I'm creating a shell-like environment. My original method of handleing user input was to use a dictionary mapping commands (strings) to methods of various classes, making use of the fact that functions are first class objects in python. For flexibility's sake (mostly for parsing commands), I'm thinking of changing my setup such that I'm using getattr(command), to grab the method I need and then passing arguments to it at the end of my parser. Another advantage of this approach is not having to update my (currently statically implemented) command dictionary every time I add a new method/command. My question is, will I be taking a hit to the efficiency of my shell? Does it matter how many methods/commands I have? I'm currently looking at 30 some commands, which could eventually double.

• WPF MVVM TreeView item source losing context after command

  I have a treeview which contains files, every view model holds an item source which is an ObservableCollection with files items: public ObservableCollection<CMItemFileNode> SubItemNode On each item i have context menu options (Delete, Execute..). If i move from one viewModel to another the ObservableCollection of files updated correctly and presented correctly but, when i perform a context menu command like delete file item, the command execute good but when i move to another view model (which holds SubItemNode ObservableCollection of is own) after the command executed the WPF still thinks i'm in the last view model i was in and not the one i'm really on. Very important to mention is that when i update to .net 4.5 (which unfortunantly i can't do) everything is ok and the ObservableCollection addresses the correct view model. • find: missing argument to -exec

  Hello all, I was helped out today with a command, but it doesn't seem to be working. This is the command: find /home/me/download/ -type f -name "*.rm" -exec ffmpeg -i {} -sameq {}.mp3 && rm {}\; The shell returns find: missing argument to `-exec' What I am basically trying to do is go through a directory recursively (if it has other directories) and run the ffmpeg command on the .rm file types and convert them to .mp3 file types. Once this is done, remove the .rm file that has just been converted. I appreciate any help on this.
