  • strod() and sprintf() inconsistency under GCC and MSVC

    I'm working on a cross-platform app for Windows and Mac OS X, and I have a problem with two standard C library functions: strtod() (string-to-double conversion) ? sprintf (when used for outputting double-precision floating point numbers) -- their GCC and MSVC versions return different results. I'm looking for a well-tested cross-platform open-source implementation of those functions, or just for a pair of functions that would correctly and consistently convert double to string and back. I've already tried the clib GCC implementation, but the code is too long and too dependent on other source files, so I expect the adaptation to be difficult. What implementations of string-to-double and double-to-string functions would you recommend?

    I have a sharepoint intranet portal which has many blogs and they have customized design. We use default Data form webpart for displaying blog posts. By default the posts are sorted based on "created date". I have a new requirement from the client asking me to change the sorting criteria to "Published date". What is the easiest method to achieve this without using SharePoint Designer . Note: Creating a new view is not a solution as I will not be able to apply the customized design.

  • Storing date and time as epoch vs native datetime format in the database

    For most of my tasks I find it much easier to work with date and time in the epoch format: it's trivial to calculate timespan or determine if some event happened before or after another, I don't have to deal with time-zone issues if the data comes from different geographical sources, in case of scripting languages what I usually get from database when I request a datetime-typed column is a string that I need to parse in order to work with it. This list can go on, but for me in order to keep my code portable that's enough to ditch database's native datetime format and store date and time as integer. What do you guys think?

This is being written out to a file which will then be processed by another tool. An example is below. I want this: 1 [label="this is a\ntest"] \n (second \n is a true newline) I have tried this: string = '1 [label="this is a\ntest"]' + "\n" Any thoughts?

    Hello: I am having some trouble with a very basic string issue in Python (that I can't figure out). Basically, I am trying to do the following: '# read file into a string myString = file.read() '# Attempt to remove non breaking spaces myString = myString.replace("\u00A0"," ") '# however, when I print my string to output to console, I get: Foo **<C2><A0>** Bar I thought that the "\u00A0" was the escape code for unicode non breaking spaces, but apparently I am not doing this properly. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

  • How to format a date as localized Short MonthDay string

    I would like to format a DateTime to a string containing the month name abbreviated and the date for use in axis labels in a graph. The default DateTime format strings do not contain abbreviated month. I guess there is no standard but I could take a substring of the first 3 characters of the month name and replace this into the MonthDay format.     Need some help to find the number of matched tokens between two strings. I have a list of string stored in ArrayList (example given below): Line 0 : WRB VBD NN VB IN CC RB VBP NNP Line 1 : WDT NNS VBD DT NN NNP NNP Line 2 : WRB MD PRP VB DT NN IN NNS POS JJ NNS Line 3 : WDT NN VBZ DT NN IN DT JJ NN IN DT NNP Line 4 : WP VBZ DT JJ NN IN NN Here, you can see each string consists of a bunch of tokens separated by spaces. So, there's three things I need to work with.. Compare the first token (WRB) in Line 0 to the tokens in Line 1 to see if they match. Move on to the next tokens in Line 0 until a match is found. If there's a match, mark the matched tokens in Line 1 so that it will not be matched again. Return the number of matched tokens between Line 0 and Line 1. Return the distance of the matched tokens. Example: token NN is found on position 3 on line 0 and position 5 on Line 1. Distance = |3-5| = 2 I've tried using split string and store it to String[] but String[] is fixed and doesn't allow shrinking or adding of new elements. Tried Pattern Matcher but with disasterous results. Tried a few other methods but there's some problems with my nested for loops..(will post part of my coding if it will help). Any advice or pointers on how to solve this problem this would be very much appreciated. Thank you very much.

I'm parsing a single HTML doc that is static (For an undisclosed reason, I can't use an HTML parser to do the job.) I have an expression that looks like: $string =~ /\<img\ssrc\="(.*)"/; and I want to get the value of $1. However, in the one string, there are many img tags like this, so I need something like an array returned (@1?) is this possible?

Could it be that the string A::getString() returns is being allocated in A.dll and freed in main.exe? If so, why - and what would be a safe way to pass strings between DLLs (or executables, for that matter)? Without using wrappers like shared_ptr with a custom deleter.

  • Where is the iPhone's Date & Time getting it's time zone list

    I can get a list of time zones with [NSTimeZone knownTimeZoneNames], but that only gives the time zone IDs which include one or 2 cities in each time zone. The Date & Time settings has a great list of cities and I have seen a few other apps that have the same if not similar lookup lists. Where do these lists come from?? I do need to relate a picked city to it's time zone like Date & Time does. Thanks, John

    I have the following lambda function: f = lambda x: x == None and '' or x It should return an empty string if it receives None as the argument, or the argument if it's not None. For example: >>> f(4) 4 >>> f(None) >>> If I call f(None) instead of getting an empty string I get None. I printed the type of what the function returned and I got NoneType. I was expecting string. type('') returns string, so I'd like to know why the lambda doesn't return an empty string when I pass None as an argument. I'm fairly new to lambdas so I might have misunderstood some things about how they work.

  • How do I read text from a serial port?

    I am trying to read data off of a Windows serial port through Java. I have the javax.comm libraries and am able to get some data but not correct data. When I read the port into a byte array and convert it to text I get a series of characters but no real text string. I have tried to specify the byte array as being both "UTF-8" and "US-ASCII". Does anyone know how to get real text out of this?     I have a table in SQL server which has a DATETIME field called Date_Printed. I am trying to get all records in the table which lie between a specified date range. Currently I am using the following SQL DECLARE @StartDate DATETIME DECLARE @EndDate DATETIME SET @StartDate = '2010-01-01' SET @EndDate = '2010-06-18 12:59:59 PM' SELECT * FROM table WHERE Date_Printed BETWEEN @StartDate AND @EndDate I have an index on the Date_Printed column. I was wondering if this is the best way to get the rows in the table which lie between those date or if there is a faster way. The table has about 750,000 records in it right now and it will continue to grow. The query is pretty fast but I'd like to make it faster if possible.

  • Avoid implicit conversion from date to timestamp for selects with Oracle using Hibernate

    I'm using Hibernate 3.2.7.GA criteria queries to select rows from an Oracle Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.4.0 database, filtering by a timestamp field. The field in question is of type java.util.Date in Java, and DATE in Oracle. It turns out that the field gets mapped to java.sql.Timestamp, and Oracle converts all rows to TIMESTAMP before comparing to the passed in value, bypassing the index and thereby ruining performance. One solution would be to use Hibernate's sqlRestriction() along with Oracle's TO_DATE function. That would fix performance, but requires rewriting the application code (lots of queries). So is there a more elegant solution? Since Hibernate already does type mapping, could it be configured to do the right thing? Update: The problem occurs in a variety of configurations, but here's one specific example: Oracle Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.4.0 Oracle JDBC Driver 11.1.0.7.0 Hibernate 3.2.7.GA Hibernate's Oracle10gDialect Java 1.6.0_16

Eliminate any rows that is NOT duplicate (not everybody in this file has been admitted again) and compare the dates to get the ReAdmitdate and ReDischargedate I dumped the data into a SQL table and trying to compare the dates to figure out "ReAdmitdate" and "ReDischargedate" any help is appreciated.     Hi guys, I have a database with date field is this format "2010.06.11. | 10:26 13" What is need is a php array that would hold all the different dates, .i.e. array[0] = "2010.06.09." array[1] = "2010.06.10." array[2] = "2010.06.11." Currently I am doing it by selecting the whole table, then looping through the result and adding the date substr to an array if it is not already there. But maybe there is a faster way? Thanks.
