  • boost::multi_array resize exception?

    - by Glen
I'm trying to figure out if the boost::multi_array constructor or resize method can throw a bad_alloc exception (or some other exception indicating the allocation or resize failed). I can't find this information in the documentation anywhere.

  • Create unordered list tree menu from data stored in an table with the adjacency list model...php

    - by Ronedog
I need to create a tree menu of "nth" subcategories. I settled on using the adjacency list model for my table structure, because I won't be updating this table very much and this seemed the easiest to implement for my use. I want to style the output using "ul" and "li" tags...I already have a css and jquery solution to do the styling. My problem comes from pulling the data out of the database and using a recursive function via PHP to build the list ... the list is a concatenated string that gets parsed to build the tree. I'm really having a hard time getting the closing "ul" and "li" tags to line up just where they need to be. Is this the best way to do this? Are there other better ways using arrays or something like that to do this? Any examples you can point me to of "best practices" for building a list like this will be appreciated. Thanks.

  • A dynamic array of class "landmark", inside another single class "landmarks"

    - by pinnacler
I'm working on a robot localization simulator and I created a class called "landmark". The end result is going to be a robot that is always centered and always faces the top of the screen. As it turns, the birds eye view map will rotate around the robot. To accomplish this, I'm assuming I can rotate one class and have all elements inside rotate as well. So, the landmark class has properties x,y, label, and radius. This is suppose to simulate a tree location in a forest. To test everything, I need "forest data," and I wrote a script to generate 100 trees in a 100m x 100m area. The script automatically generates values within an acceptable range for x,y, radius. The generated data is stored in an object called tempForest and is 100x3. Ideally, I want to create a class called "landmarks" (plural) that has 100 landmark instances inside. How would I instantiate 100 instances of landmark in one instance of landmarks using that randomly generated data? Ideally, I'd just type treeBeacons = landmarks(); and it would randomly populate 100 (user definable, set in config file) instances with x, y, radius data. I'm not sure how to deal with a dynamic array of class "Landmark", inside another single class "landmarks." Any ideas?

  • Array output for option of command in bash script

    - by dewaforex
Hi, Sorry for my bad english I'm stuck figure out with my bash script with array for option of command I make bash script to extract attachments from mkv file, and at the end merge again that attachments to mkv file after the video/audio has been encoding.. this is for extract attachment #find the total of attachment A=$(mkvmerge -i input.mkv | grep -i attachment | awk '{printf $3 "\n"}' | sed 's;\:;;' | awk 'END { print NR }') #extract it for (( i=1; i<=$A; i++ )) do font[${i}]="$(mkvmerge -i input.mkv | grep -i attachment | awk '{for (i=11; i <= NF; i++) printf($i"%c" , (i==NF)?ORS:OFS) }' | sed "s/'//g" | awk "NR==$i")" mkvextract attachments input.mkv $i:"${font[${i}]}" done And now for merge again the attachment for (( i=1; i<=$A; i++ )) do #seach for space between file name and and '\' before the space because some attachment has space in filename font1[${i}]=$(echo ${font[${i}]} | sed 's/ /\\ /g') #make option for add attachment attachment[${i}]=$"--attach-file ${font1[${i}]}" done mkvmerge -o output.mkv -d 1 -S test.mp4 sub.ass ${attachment[*]} The problem, still can't work for file name with space. When I tried echo the ${attachment[*]}, It's seem all right --attach-file Beach.ttf --attach-file Candara.ttf --attach-file CASUCM.TTF --attach-file Complete\ in\ Him.ttf --attach-file CURLZ_.TTF --attach-file Frostys\ Winterland.TTF --attach-file stilltim.ttf But the output still recognize the file name with space only the first word. mkvmerge v3.0.0 ('Hang up your Hang-Ups') built on Dec 6 2010 19:19:04 Automatic MIME type recognition for 'Beach.ttf': application/x-truetype-font Automatic MIME type recognition for 'Candara.ttf': application/x-truetype-font Automatic MIME type recognition for 'CASUCM.TTF': application/x-truetype-font Error: The file 'Complete\' cannot be attached because it does not exist or cannot be read. • how to manage a "resource" array efficiently

    - by Haiyuan Zhang
The senario of my question is that one need to use a fixed size of array to keep track of certain number of "objects" . The object here can be as simply as a integer or as complex as very fancy data structure. And "keep track" here means to allocate one object when other part of the app need one instance of object and recyle it for future allocation when one instance of the object is returned .Finally ,let me use c++ to put my problme in a more descriptive way . #define MAX 65535 /* 65535 just indicate that many items should be handled . performance demanding! */ typedef struct { int item ; }Item_t; Item_t items[MAX] ; class itemManager { private : /* up to you.... */ public : int get() ; /* get one index to a free Item_t in items */ bool put(int index) ; /* recyle one Item_t indicate by one index in items */ } how will you implement the two public functions of itemManager ? it's up to you to add any private member .

  • Java - Highest, Lowest and Average

    - by Emily
Hello, I've just started studying and I need help on one of my exercises. I need the end user to input a rain fall number for each month. I then need to out put the average rainfall, highest month and lowest month and the months which rainfall was above average. I keep getting the same number in the highest and lowest and I have no idea why. I am seriously pulling my hair out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is what I have so far: public class rainfall { /** * @param args */ public static void main(String[] args) { int[] numgroup; numgroup = new int [13]; ConsoleReader console = new ConsoleReader(); int highest; int lowest; int index; int tempVal; int minMonth; int minIndex; int maxMonth; int maxIndex; System.out.println("Welcome to Rainfall"); for(index = 1; index < 13; index = index + 1) { System.out.println("Please enter the rainfall for month " + index); tempVal = console.readInt(); while (tempVal>100 || tempVal<0) { System.out.println("The rating must be within 0...100. Try again"); tempVal = console.readInt(); } numgroup[index] = tempVal; } lowest = numgroup[0]; for(minIndex = 0; minIndex < numgroup.length; minIndex = minIndex + 1); { if (numgroup[0] < lowest) { lowest = numgroup[0]; minMonth = minIndex; } } highest = numgroup[1]; for(maxIndex = 0; maxIndex < numgroup.length; maxIndex = maxIndex + 1); { if (numgroup[1] > highest) { highest = numgroup[1]; maxMonth = maxIndex; } } System.out.println("The average monthly rainfall was "); System.out.println("The lowest monthly rainfall was month " + minIndex); System.out.println("The highest monthly rainfall was month " + maxIndex); System.out.println("Thank you for using Rainfall"); } private static ConsoleReader ConsoleReader() { return null; } } Thanks, Emily

  • Mapping a boolean[] PostgreSql column with Hibernate

    - by teabot
I have a column in a PostgreSql database that is defined with type boolean[]. I wish to map this to a Java entity property using Hibernate 3.3.x. However, I cannot find a suitable Java type that Hibernate is happy to map to. I thought that the java.lang.Boolean[] would be the obvious choice, but Hibernate complains: Caused by: org.hibernate.HibernateException: Wrong column type in schema.table for column mycolumn. Found: _bool, expected: bytea at org.hibernate.mapping.Table.validateColumns(Table.java:284) at org.hibernate.cfg.Configuration.validateSchema(Configuration.java:1130) I have also tried the following property types without success: java.lang.String java.lang.boolean[] java.lang.Byte[] How can I map this column?

  • Rails paginate array items one-by-one instead of page-by-page

    - by hnovick
Hi Guys, I have a group of assets, let's call them "practitioners". I'm displaying these practitioners in the header of a calendar interface. There are 7 columns to the calendar. 7 columns = 7 practitioners per view/page. Right now: if the first page shows you practitioners 1-7, when you go the next page you will see practitioners 8-15, next page 16-23, etc. etc. i am wondering how to page the practitioners so that if the first page shows you practitioners 1-7, the next page will show you practitioners 2-8, then 3-9, etc. etc. i would greatly appreciate any help you can offer. here is the rails code i am working with. best regards, harris novick # get the default sort order sort_order = RESOURCE_SORT_ORDER # if we've been given asset ids, start our list with them unless params[:asset_ids].blank? params[:asset_ids] = params[:asset_ids].values unless params[:asset_ids].is_a?(Array) sort_order = "#{params[:asset_ids].collect{|id| "service_provider_resources.id = #{id} DESC"}.join(",")}, #{sort_order}" end @asset_set = @provider.active_resources(:include => {:active_services => :latest_approved_version}).paginate( :per_page => RESOURCES_IN_DAY_VIEW, :page => params[:page], :order => sort_order )

  • Go: using a pointer to array

    - by Sean
I'm having a little play with google's Go language, and I've run into something which is fairly basic in C but doesn't seem to be covered in the documentation I've seen so far When I pass a pointer to an array to a function, I presumed we'd have some way to access it as follows: func conv(x []int, xlen int, h []int, hlen int, y *[]int) for i := 0; i<xlen; i++ { for j := 0; j<hlen; j++ { *y[i+j] += x[i]*h[j] } } } But the Go compiler doesn't like this: sean@spray:~/dev$ 8g broke.go broke.go:8: invalid operation: y[i + j] (index of type *[]int) Fair enough - it was just a guess. I have got a fairly straightforward workaround: func conv(x []int, xlen int, h []int, hlen int, y_ *[]int) { y := *y_ for i := 0; i<xlen; i++ { for j := 0; j<hlen; j++ { y[i+j] += x[i]*h[j] } } } But surely there's a better way. The annoying thing is that googling for info on Go isn't very useful as all sorts of C\C++\unrelated results appear for most search terms.

  • DatagGridViewColumn.DataPropertyName to an array element?

    - by unknown
Hi there, I'm using a DataGridView binding its datasource to a List, and specifying the properties for each column. An example would be: DataGridViewTextBoxColumn colConcept = new DataGridViewTextBoxColumn(); DataGridViewCell cell4 = new DataGridViewTextBoxCell(); colConcept.CellTemplate = cell4; colConcept.Name = "concept"; colConcept.HeaderText = "Concept"; colConcept.DataPropertyName = "Concept"; colConcept.Width = 200; this.dataGridViewBills.Columns.Add(colConcept); {... assign other colums...} And finally this.dataGridViewBills.DataSource=billslist; //billslist is List<Bill> Obviously Class Bill has a Property called Concept, as well as one Property for each column. Well, now my problem, is that Bill should have and Array/List/whateverdynamicsizecontainer of strings called Years. Let's assume that every Bill will have the same Years.Count, but this only known at runtime. Thus, I can't specify properties like Bill.FirstYear to obtain Bill.Years[0], Bill.SecondYear to obtain Bills.Years[1]... etc... and bind it to each column. The idea, is that now I want to have a grid with dynamic number of colums (known at runtime), and each column filled with a string from the Bill.Years List. I can make a loop to add columns to the grid at runtime depending of Bill.Years.Count, but is possible to bind them to each of the strings that the Bill.Years List contains??? I'm not sure if I'm clear enough. The result ideally would be something like this, for 2 bills on the list, and 3 years for each bill: --------------------------------------GRID HEADER------------------------------- NAME CONCEPT YEAR1 YEAR2 YEAR3 --------------------------------------GRID VALUES------------------------------- Bill1 Bill1.Concept Bill1.Years[0] Bill1.Years[1] Bill1.Years[2] Bill2 Bill2.Concept Bill2.Years[0] Bill2.Years[1] Bill2.Years[2] I can always forget the datasource, and write each cell manually, as the MSFlexGrid used to like, but if possible, I would like to use the binding capabilities of the DataGridView. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

  • Displaying music list using custom lists instead of array adapters

Hi, I have displayed the music list in a list view. The list is obtained from a website. I have done this using Arraylist. Now, i want to iterate the same program using custom lists and custom adapters instead of array list. The code i have written using array lists is... public class MusicListActivity extends Activity { MediaPlayer mp; File mediaFile; TextView tv; TextView albumtext; TextView artisttext; ArrayList<String> al=new ArrayList<String>(); • MySQL multidimensional arrays...

    - by jay
What is the best way to store data that is dynamic in nature using MySQL? Let's say I have a table in which one item is "dynamic". For some entries I need to store one value, but for others it could be one hundred values. For example let's say I have the following simple table: CREATE TABLE manager ( name char(50), worker_1_name(50), worker_2_name(50), ... worker_N_name(50) ); Clearly, this is not an ideal way to set up a database. Because I have to accommodate the largest group that a manager could potentially have, I am wasting a lot of space in the database. What I would prefer is to have a table that I can use as a member of another table (like I would do in C++ through inheritance) that can be used by the "manager" table to handle the variable number of employees. It might look something like this. CREATE TABLE manager ( name char(50), underlings WORKERS ); CREATE TABLE WORKERS ( name char(50), ); I would like to be able to add a variable number of workers to each manager. Is this possible or am I constrained to enumerating all the possible number of employees even though I will use the full complement only rarely?

  • Can't add object to Array in jQuery's getJSON data function (scope issue)

    - by seo20
    I have a person object and wants to store it into a global ArrayCollection I have made. Works great in normal scope: var s = new ArrayCollection(); s.add(new person("Knud", "Mikkelsen", 35)); The problem is when I want to add people inside my jQuery function "mainFunction". I can't seem to get it right. I know it's something to do with scope and I have to wrap something in functions like in my ArrayCollection. Please help me - thanks a lot. function ArrayCollection() { var myArray = new Array; return { empty: function () { myArray.splice(0, myArray.length); }, add: function (myElement) { myArray.push(myElement); }, getAll: function () { return myArray; } } } function person(firstName, lastName, age) { this.firstName = firstName; this.lastName = lastName; this.age = parseInt(parseFloat(age)); } function mainFunction() { //.... var s = new ArrayCollection(); s.add(new person("Knud", "Mikkelsen", 35)); $.getJSON(url, function (data) { for (var x = 0; x < data.length; x++) { var myPerson = new person(data[x].FirstName.toString(), data[x].LastName.toString(), data[x].Age.toString()); s.add(myPerson); } }); alert(drawArray(s.getAll())); } function drawArray(myArray) { var v = ""; for (var i = 0; i < myArray.length; i++) { v += myArray[i].firstName + " " + myArray[i].lastName + " (" + myArray[i].age + ")\n"; } return v; }

  • Tutorials and Introductions to C++ Expression Templates

    - by grrussel
What are good introductions to the creation of C++ expression template systems? I would like to express arithmetic on user defined types while avoiding temporary values (which may be large), and to learn how to do this directly rather than applying an existing library. I have found Todd Veldhuizen's original paper and an example from the Josuttis C++ Templates book, and an article by Kreft & Langer. I am looking for simple, clear expositions.

  • PHP Compare Two Arrays?

    - by Sjwdavies
I'm trying to compare two entries in a database, so when a user makes a change, I can fetch both database entries and compare them to see what the user changed, so I would have an output similar to: User changed $fieldName from $originalValue to $newValue I've looked into this and came accross array_diff but it doesn't give me the output format I need. Before I go ahead and write a function that does this, and returns it as a nice $mtextFormatDifferenceString, can anyone point me in the direction of a solution that already does this? I don't want to re-invent the wheel..
