  • Generic Func<> as parameter to base method

    - by WestDiscGolf
I might be losing the plot, but I hope someone can point me in the right direction. What am I trying to do? I'm trying to write some base methods which take Func< and Action so that these methods handle all of the exception handling etc. so its not repeated all over the place but allow the derived classes to specify what actions it wants to execute. So far this is the base class. public abstract class ServiceBase<T> { protected T Settings { get; set; } protected ServiceBase(T setting) { Settings = setting; } public void ExecAction(Action action) { try { action(); } catch (Exception exception) { throw new Exception(exception.Message); } } public TResult ExecFunc<T1, T2, T3, TResult>(Func<T1, T2, T3, TResult> function) { try { /* what goes here?! */ } catch (Exception exception) { throw new Exception(exception.Message); } } } I want to execute an Action in the following way in the derived class (this seems to work): public void Delete(string application, string key) { ExecAction(() => Settings.Delete(application, key)); } And I want to execute a Func in a similar way in the derived class but for the life of me I can't seem to workout what to put in the base class. I want to be able to call it in the following way (if possible): public object Get(string application, string key, int? expiration) { return ExecFunc(() => Settings.Get(application, key, expiration)); } Am I thinking too crazy or is this possible? Thanks in advance for all the help.

  • comma in regex in String.replaceAll() method?

    - by kknight
My code tries to replace "," with "/" in a string. Should I escape "," in the regex string? Both of the two code snippets generated the same results, so I am confused. Code snippet 1: String test = "a,bc,def"; System.out.println(test.replaceAll("\\,", "/")); Code snippet 2: String test = "a,bc,def"; System.out.println(test.replaceAll(",", "/")); Should I use "," or "\,"? Which is safer? Thanks.

  • Need new method for linking to native mapping from mobile web app

    - by Carter
My mobile web apps use a map button which automatically starts the mapping features of Android and iPhone by simply linking to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+York. iOs 6 comes out, the links stop working, because Apple wants us to use "maps.APPLE.com". Turns out ANYTHING you send to "maps.apple.com" gets forwarded to "maps.google.com". So now I have to specially detect iOs 6 and swap out links just so Apple can forward everything back to Google anyway. Is there a clean way to open the device/native mapping app from a mobile web app that works on Android, iOs 6, and iOs pre-6, since iOs 6 nerfed it? Recently updated documentation on Apple dev site... http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#featuredarticles/iPhoneURLScheme_Reference/Articles/MapLinks.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40007894-SW1 Both these links go to the same place http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+York http://maps.apple.com/maps?q=New+York

  • Inferring type from method generics

    - by ng
I am from a Java background and I am looking from the equivalent in c# for the following. public interface Reader { <T> T read(Class<? extends T> type); } Such that I can do the following, constraining the parameter and inferring the return type. Cat cat = reader.read(Cat.class); Dog dog = reader.read(Dog.class); I was hoping something like this would work in c# but I am not sure it will. public interface Reader { T Read<T>(); } And and do this. public class TypeReader : Reader { public T Read<T>() { Type type = T.GetType(); ... } } Is something like this even possible in c#?

  • File sorting, Comparison method violates its general contract

    - by user2677383
    My file sorting comparator sometimes invoke java.lang.IllegalArgumentException in android app. I cannot figure out the reason. could you explain that? here is my code block: Comparator cc = new Comparator<File>() { @Override public int compare(File f1, File f2) { if (f1.isDirectory() && !f2.isDirectory()) { return 1; } if (f2.isDirectory() && !f1.isDirectory()) { return -1; } if ((f1.isFile() && f2.isFile()) || (f1.isDirectory() && f2.isDirectory())) { if (sort == 1) { return Util.compareFileName(f2.getName(), f1.getName()); } else if (sort == 2) { return (int) (f1.lastModified() - f2.lastModified()); } else if (sort == 3) { return (int) (f2.lastModified() - f1.lastModified()); } else if (sort == 4) { return (int) (f1.length() - f2.length()); } else if (sort == 5) { return (int) (f2.length() - f1.length()); } else return Util.compareFileName(f1.getName(), f2.getName()); } return f1.compareTo(f2); } }; Util.compareFileName is as followings: public static int compareFileName(String s1, String s2) { int thisMarker = 0; int thatMarker = 0; int s1Length = s1.length(); int s2Length = s2.length(); while (thisMarker < s1Length && thatMarker < s2Length) { String thisChunk = getChunk(s1, s1Length, thisMarker); thisMarker += thisChunk.length(); String thatChunk = getChunk(s2, s2Length, thatMarker); thatMarker += thatChunk.length(); // If both chunks contain numeric characters, sort them numerically int result = 0; if (isDigit(thisChunk.charAt(0)) && isDigit(thatChunk.charAt(0))) { // Simple chunk comparison by length. int thisChunkLength = thisChunk.length(); result = thisChunkLength - thatChunk.length(); // If equal, the first different number counts if (result == 0) { for (int i = 0; i < thisChunkLength; i++) { result = thisChunk.charAt(i) - thatChunk.charAt(i); if (result != 0) { return result; } } } } else { result = thisChunk.compareTo(thatChunk); } if (result != 0) return result; } return s1Length - s2Length; }

  • Set dropdownlist item text using server side method

    - by Blankman
I am trying to set the Text property of a drop down list option like this: <asp:ListItem Value="AB" Text='<%= Resources.Get("USA") %>'></asp:ListItem> But it isn't working, instead the Text value is literally <%= Resources.Get("USA") %> and not the string "USA". i.e. it is not being interpreted as code. What is the problem?

  • XML to XHTML - Best Method?

    - by Ian
Not wishing to be subjective but I have a need to get data from an XML source and convert it to (X)HTML. From my understanding I can do this with PHP (or other server-side scripts), Javascript, or XSLT. My feeling is that it would be more appropriate to use XSLT as it is dealing with an XML source and this is the purpose for which XSLT exists. I also see it having the advantage that it will still work if the user doesn't have Javascript enabled and wont be restricted to a server which runs PHP (or other server-side script). Am I right in my assumptions? Also could the same be same for an RSS feed? Thanks

  • Is there a faster method to match an arbitrary String to month name in Java

    - by jonc
Hello, I want to determine if a string is the name of a month and I want to do it relatively quickly. The function that is currently stuck in my brain is something like: boolean isaMonth( String str ) { String[] months = DateFormatSymbols.getInstance().getMonths(); String[] shortMonths = DateFormatSymbols.getInstance().getShortMonths(); int i; for( i = 0; i<months.length(); ++i;) { if( months[i].equals(str) ) return true; if( shortMonths[i].equals(str ) return true; } return false; } However, I will be processing lots of text, passed one string at a time to this function, and most of the time I will be getting the worst case of going through the entire loop and returning false. I saw another question that talked about a Regex to match a month name and a year which could be adapted for this situation. Would the Regex be faster? Is there any other solution that might be faster?

  • [[alloc] init] as a factory method

    - by iter
I want to initialize an instance of one of the subclasses of a superclass depending on the arguments to init: [[Vehicle alloc] initWithItinerary: shortWay]; // returns a bicycle [[Vehicle alloc] initWithItinerary: longWay]; // returns a car I can't find examples of code like this. I wonder if this is not idiomatic in Objective C, or I simply am not looking in the right places.

  • Is it possible to access the line of code where a method is called from within that method?

    - by Dan Tao
Disclaimers: I am not interested in doing this in any real production code. I make no claim that there's a good reason why I'm interested in doing this. I realize that if this is in any way possible, it must involve doing some highly inadvisable things. That said... is this possible? I'm really just curious to know. In other words, if I have something like this: int i = GetSomeInteger(); Is there any way from within GetSomeInteger that the code could be "aware of" the fact that it's being called in an assignment to the variable i? Again: no interest in doing this in any sort of real scenario. Just curious!

  • MVC3 - render view that is not a method in a controller

    - by scoo-b
I don't know how to best describe my requirement, but here goes. I'm trying to render a view from the following controller/model in a nopCommerce application: CustomerController.cs snippet: [NonAction] protected CustomerNavigationModel GetCustomerNavigationModel(Customer customer) { var model = new CustomerNavigationModel(); model.HideAvatar = !_customerSettings.AllowCustomersToUploadAvatars; model.HideRewardPoints = !_rewardPointsSettings.Enabled; model.HideForumSubscriptions = !_forumSettings.ForumsEnabled || !_forumSettings.AllowCustomersToManageSubscriptions; model.HideReturnRequests = !_orderSettings.ReturnRequestsEnabled || _orderService.SearchReturnRequests(customer.Id, 0, null).Count == 0; model.HideDownloadableProducts = _customerSettings.HideDownloadableProductsTab; model.HideBackInStockSubscriptions = _customerSettings.HideBackInStockSubscriptionsTab; return model; } CustomerNavigationModel.cs: public partial class CustomerNavigationModel : BaseNopModel { public bool HideInfo { get; set; } public bool HideAddresses { get; set; } public bool HideOrders { get; set; } public bool HideBackInStockSubscriptions { get; set; } public bool HideReturnRequests { get; set; } public bool HideDownloadableProducts { get; set; } public bool HideRewardPoints { get; set; } public bool HideChangePassword { get; set; } public bool HideAvatar { get; set; } public bool HideForumSubscriptions { get; set; } public CustomerNavigationEnum SelectedTab { get; set; } } public enum CustomerNavigationEnum { Info, Addresses, Orders, BackInStockSubscriptions, ReturnRequests, DownloadableProducts, RewardPoints, ChangePassword, Avatar, ForumSubscriptions } MyAccountNavigation.cshtml snippet: @model CustomerNavigationModel @using Nop.Web.Models.Customer; @if (!Model.HideInfo) { <li><a href="@Url.RouteUrl("CustomerInfo")" class="@if (Model.SelectedTab == CustomerNavigationEnum.Info) {<text>active</text>} else {<text>inactive</text>}">@T("Account.CustomerInfo")</a></li>} Views: @Html.Partial("MyAccountNavigation", Model.NavigationModel, new ViewDataDictionary()) I am aware that it is unable to render MyAccountNavigation because it doesn't exist in the controller. However, depending on which page the syntax is placed it works. So is there a way to achieve that without changing the code in the controller? Thanks in advance.

  • calling a trim method in actionscript 2.0

    - by user151013
Hi I Got a notnull function for a text field as below private function valStringNotNull( val:String ) :Boolean { if ( String(val).length <= 0 ) { _errorCode = "StringNull"; return false; } _errorCode = "NoError"; return true; } and this function is being called here var pCnt:Number = 0; _validateParams[pCnt++] = { type: "notNull", input: win.firstNameInput , isSendData:true, dataName:"firstName"}; _validateParams[pCnt++] = { type: "notNull", input: win.lastNameInput, isSendData:true, dataName:"lastName"}; _validateParams[pCnt++] = { type: "noValidation", input: roleCombo, isSendData:true, dataName:"role" }; Selection.setFocus(win.firstNameInput); and for the not null I defined this way private function validateCases ( param:Object ) :Boolean { _errorObj = param.input || param.input1; switch( param.type ) { case "notNull": return valStringNotNull( param.input.text ); break; } } but as you see as I defined the length should be greater than zero its taking even a space as an input and displaying blank white space in my text field so I got a trim function as below public function ltrim(input:String):String { var size:Number = input.length; for(var i:Number = 0; i < size; i++) { if(input.charCodeAt(i) > 32) { return input.substring(i); } } return ""; } and I need to call this trim function before my not null function so that it trims off all the leftside white space but as I am very new to flash can some one help me how to keep this trim function before the notnull function. Can some one please help me with this please

  • Factory Method Using Is/As Operator

    - by Swim
I have factory that looks something like the following snippet. Foo is a wrapper class for Bar and in most cases (but not all), there is a 1:1 mapping. As a rule, Bar cannot know anything about Foo, yet Foo takes an instance of Bar. Is there a better/cleaner approach to doing this? public Foo Make( Bar obj ) { if( obj is Bar1 ) return new Foo1( obj as Bar1 ); if( obj is Bar2 ) return new Foo2( obj as Bar2 ); if( obj is Bar3 ) return new Foo3( obj as Bar3 ); if( obj is Bar4 ) return new Foo3( obj as Bar4 ); // same wrapper as Bar3 throw new ArgumentException(); } At first glance, this question might look like a duplicate (maybe it is), but I haven't seen one exactly like it. Here is one that is close, but not quite: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/242097/factory-based-on-typeof-or-is-a

  • Own params to PeriodicTask run() method in Celery

    - by Alex Isayko
Hello to all! I am writing a small Django application and I should be able to create for each model object its periodical task which will be executed with a certain interval. I'm use for this a Celery application, but i can't understand one thing: class ProcessQueryTask(PeriodicTask): run_every = timedelta(minutes=1) def run(self, query_task_pk, **kwargs): logging.info('Process celery task for QueryTask %d' % query_task_pk) task = QueryTask.objects.get(pk=query_task_pk) task.exec_task() return True Then i'm do following: >>> from tasks.tasks import ProcessQueryTask >>> result1 = ProcessQueryTask.delay(query_task_pk=1) >>> result2 = ProcessQueryTask.delay(query_task_pk=2) First call is success, but other periodical calls returning the error - TypeError: run() takes exactly 2 non-keyword arguments (1 given) in celeryd server. So, can i pass own params to PeriodicTask run() ? Thanks!

  • How to call a method after asynchronous task is complete

    - by doctordoder
I have a class called WikiWebView which is a subclass of UIWebView which loads Wikipedia subjects and is designed to fetch all the links of the webpage, in order to create a sort of site map for the subject. My problem is that I can only create the links once the web page has loaded, but the loading isn't done right after [self loadRequest:requestObj] is called. - (void)loadSubject:(NSString *)subject { // load the actual webpage NSString *wiki = @"http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/"; NSString *fullURL = [wiki stringByAppendingString:subject]; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:fullURL]; NSURLRequest *requestObj = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [self loadRequest:requestObj]; // [self createLinks]; // need this to be called after the view has loaded } - (void)createLinks { NSString *javascript = @"var string = \"\";" "var arr = document.getElementsByClassName(\"mw-redirect\");" "for (var i = 0; i < arr.length; ++i)" "{" "var redirectLink = arr[i].href;" "string = string + redirectLink + \" \";" "}" "string;"; NSString *links = [self stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:javascript]; self.links = [links componentsSeparatedByString:@" "]; } I tried the normal delegation technique, which lead to this code being added: - (id)init { if (self = [super init]) { self.delegate = self; // weird } return self; } #pragma mark - UIWebViewDelegate - (void)webViewDidStartLoad:(UIWebView *)webView { ++_numProcesses; } - (void)webView:(UIWebView *)webView didFailLoadWithError:(NSError *)error { --_numProcesses; } - (void)webViewDidFinishLoad:(UIWebView *)webView { --_numProcesses; if (_numProcesses == 0) { [self createLinks]; } } However, the delegate methods are never called.. I've seen similar questions where the answers are to use blocks, but how would I do that in this case?

  • JQuery method for IFrame functionality

  • How to create PHP method linking?

    - by Kerry
I've seen other objects that do this: $obj->method1()->method2(); How do I do that? Is each function just modifying the pointer of an object or returning a pointer? I don't know the proper term for this style -- if anyone could help me with that, it would be great.

  • Python threading question (Working with a method that blocks forever)

    - by Nix
I am trying to wrap a thread around some receiving logic in python. Basically we have an app, that will have a thread in the background polling for messages, the problem I ran into is that piece that actually pulls the messages waits forever for a message. Making it impossible to terminate... I ended up wrapping the pull in another thread, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't a better way to do it. Original code: class Manager: def __init__(self): receiver = MessageReceiver() receiver.start() #do other stuff... class MessageReceiver(Thread): receiver = Receiver() def __init__(self): Thread.__init__(self) def run(self): #stop is a flag that i use to stop the thread... while(not stopped ): #can never stop because pull below blocks message = receiver.pull() print "Message" + message What I refectored to: class Manager: def __init__(self): receiver = MessageReceiver() receiver.start() class MessageReceiver(Thread): receiver = Receiver() def __init__(self): Thread.__init__(self) def run(self): pullThread = PullThread(self.receiver) pullThread.start() #stop is a flag that i use to stop the thread... while(not stopped and pullThread.last_message ==None): pass message = pullThread.last_message print "Message" + message class PullThread(Thread): last_message = None def __init__(self, receiver): Thread.__init(self, target=get_message, args=(receiver)) def get_message(self, receiver): self.last_message = None self.last_message = receiver.pull() return self.last_message I know the obvious locking issues exist, but is this the appropriate way to control a receive thread that waits forever for a message? One thing I did notice was this thing eats 100% cpu while waiting for a message... **If you need to see the stopping logic please let me know and I will post.

  • Implementation of interface when using child class of a parent class in method of interface

    - by dotnetdev
I don't have access to my dev environment, but when I write the below: interface IExample void Test (HtmlControl ctrl); class Example : IExample { public void Test (HtmlTextArea area) { } I get an error stating the methods in the class implementation don't match the interface - so this is not possible. HtmlTextArea is a child class of HtmlControl, is there no way this is possible? I tried with .NET 3.5, but .NET 4.0 may be different (I am interested in any solution with either framework). Thanks
