  • using buttons to open webviews

    - by A-P
hey guys im trying to make the buttons on my project to open a different webview url. Im new to ios programming, but im used to andriod programming. Is this possible? Ive a,ready created another webview view that sits in the supporting files folderHere is my code below Viewcontroller.m #import "ViewController.h" @implementation ViewController - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Release any cached data, images, etc that aren't in use. } #pragma mark - View lifecycle - (void)viewDidLoad { NSString *urlString = @"http://www.athletic-profile.com/Application"; //Create a URL object. NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:urlString]; //URL Requst Object NSURLRequest *webRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; //Load the request in the UIWebView. [webView loadRequest:webRequest]; [super viewDidLoad]; // Do any additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. } - (void)viewDidUnload { [super viewDidUnload]; // Release any retained subviews of the main view. // e.g. self.myOutlet = nil; } - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillAppear:animated]; } - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; } - (void)viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillDisappear:animated]; } - (void)viewDidDisappear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidDisappear:animated]; } - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { // Return YES for supported orientations return (interfaceOrientation != UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown); } @synthesize webView; @end

  • delegate issues in Xcode

    - by trludt
.h file #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface AddEventViewController : UIViewController <UITextViewDelegate> @end .m file @property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *textField1; @property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *textField2; @property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *textField3; - (IBAction)textFieldReturn:(id)sender; @end @implementation AddEventViewController @synthesize textField1, textField2, textField3; - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]; if (self) { // Custom initialization } return self; } - (IBAction)textFieldReturn:(id)sender; { [sender resignFirstResponder]; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.textField1.delegate = self; textField1.delegate = self; // Do any additional setup after loading the view. } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Dispose of any resources that can be recreated. } - (void)touchesBegan: (NSSet *) touches withEvent: (UIEvent *)event { if (textField1) { if ([textField1 canResignFirstResponder]) [textField1 resignFirstResponder]; } [super touchesBegan: touches withEvent: event]; if (textField2) { if ([textField2 canResignFirstResponder]) [textField2 resignFirstResponder]; } [super touchesBegan: touches withEvent: event]; if (textField3) { if ([textField3 canResignFirstResponder]) [textField3 resignFirstResponder]; } [super touchesBegan: touches withEvent: event]; } - (BOOL)textFieldShouldReturn:(UITextField *)textField { [textField1 resignFirstResponder]; return NO; [textField2 resignFirstResponder]; return NO; [textField3 resignFirstResponder]; return NO; } @end Ok so im getting the yellow bug symbol on the lines: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.textField1.delegate = self; textField1.delegate = self; } I don't know how to delegate all of my textFields? how do i make this textFieldReturn work for all of my textFields.. that viewDidLoad area has to be the problem, because everything else works good...

  • Iphone UIButton not working in nested UIViews

    - by Charles Peterson
    This is so damn simple im sure! Im missing something and im exhausted from trying to fix it. hopefully someone can help. The Button in CharacterView.m works but the button nested down in CharacterMale.m does not. I'm not using IB everything is done progmatically. What would cause one button to work and other not? ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// CharacterController.m ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// #import "CharacterController.h" #import "CharacterView.h" @implementation CharacterController - (id)init { NSLog(@"CharacterController init"); self = [ super init ]; if (self != nil) { } return self; } - (void)loadView { [ super loadView ]; characterView = [ [ CharacterView alloc ] init]; self.view = characterView; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// CharacterView.m ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// #import "CharacterView.h" #import "CharacterMale.h" @implementation CharacterView - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if (self = [super initWithFrame:frame]) { characterMale = [ [ CharacterMale alloc ] init]; [self addSubview: characterMale]; UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; button.frame = CGRectMake(0, 200, 200, 100); [button setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"btnCharSelect.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [button addTarget:self action:@selector(ApplyImage:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [ self addSubview: button ]; } return self; } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { } -(void)ApplyImage:(id)sender { NSLog(@"CharacterView button works"); } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// CharacterMale.m ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// #import "CharacterMale.h" #import "CharacterController.h" @implementation CharacterMale - (id)init { self = [ super init]; if (self != nil) { UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"charMale.png"]; imageView = [[ UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; [image release]; [ self addSubview: imageView ]; UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; button.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 200, 100); [button setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"btnCharSelect.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [button addTarget:self action:@selector(ApplyImage:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [ self addSubview: button ]; } return self; } -(void)ApplyImage:(id)sender { NSLog(@"CharacterMal button works"); } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end

  • Simple, free Mac OSX paint program with transparency

    - by Julie
What FREE software (included with Mac OSX, or public domain) would be a good, simple way to take some existing PNG clipart files do some simple editing? I really only need to do 3 things: Rotate the image. Clip the image. Set a "transparent" color. I don't need anything that takes weeks to learn... or is super-powerful... or super expensive. Thanks.

  • JGoodies HashMap

    - by JohnMcClane
Hi, I'm trying to build a chart program using presentation model. Using JGoodies for data binding was relatively easy for simple types like strings or numbers. But I can't figure out how to use it on a hashmap. I'll try to explain how the chart works and what my problem is: A chart consists of DataSeries, a DataSeries consists of DataPoints. I want to have a data model and to be able to use different views on the same model (e.g. bar chart, pie chart,...). Each of them consists of three classes. For example: DataPointModel: holds the data model (value, label, category) DataPointViewModel: extends JGoodies PresentationModel. wraps around DataPointModel and holds view properties like font and color. DataPoint: abstract class, extends JComponent. Different Views must subclass and implement their own ui. Binding and creating the data model was easy, but i don't know how to bind my data series model. package at.onscreen.chart; import java.beans.PropertyChangeListener; import java.beans.PropertyChangeSupport; import java.beans.PropertyVetoException; import java.util.Collection; import java.util.HashMap; import java.util.Iterator; public class DataSeriesModel { public static String PROPERTY_DATAPOINT = "dataPoint"; • How can I automate or script daily downloads for any new anti- virus databases, and then have the program scan my drive?

    - by Macgrimm
Howdy all Super Users" I humbly ask if any Super User can direct this long time, gray haired Apple Tech in the right direction on this issue. I believe there probably are many ways to skin this cat. But I am looking to find simply the best, most unattended way to get it done. Any help will be greatly appreciated. also (I know there are much better softwares out there for the Mac so please don't go there! The politics of this company dictate which Anti virus we have to use) anyway without any further wait: basically I am trying to automate 2 very important functions of Mc'Afee anti-virus for Mac. First I want to automate the process of retrieving new virus definition files, and second I want to automate the process of scanning for viruses. It turns out that Using Mc'Afee Anti-Virus for the Mac are both manual functions. And they left up to the user (per user account) to perform. Depending on all of about 150 MAc users to perform these 2 tasks themselves is around 65% compliance. My question then is: If I wanted to use the command line such as (open /Applications/McAfee\ Security.app) It will open up the Security Console. But how can I make command Mc'Afee go out and grab the definition files and scan the computer? I have to admit I am at a crossroad and Macaltimers has set in. I would really appreciate it if any of you "Super ~ Users" can help me out with this MacAltimers loss of how to what to do. Thanks to All up Front Macgrimm

  • Reduce size of MP4

    - by testing
I have a MP4 file with a lengh of 22:44. Here are the details: Video: width: 720 px height: 404 px data bitrate: 1022 kBit/s overall bitrate: 1182 kBit/s fps: 24 codec: H264 - MPEG4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) Audio: bitrate: 159 kBit/s stereo sample rate: 48 kHz codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a) I thought I can reduce the current filesize (about 200 MB) by reducing the width and the height (420 x 236). I tried different programs: Handbrake, Format Factory, Next Video Converter and Super. The first three didn't worked as expected: Handbrake has a bug by setting the width and the height, the next two doesn't allow the fine setting of the videosize (only presets of width and height). Super seems to be the best, but I didn't found a setting which reduces the file size. I reduced the width and the height but only got 20 MB less. Now I tried the xth setting and I still get a too high file size. I want to reduce the filesize to 100 MB or less. The ouput format should be FLV or MP4, because I need this for flowplayer. Which settings of SUPER or which program should I use to reduce the file size? Of course the video should still be viewable.

  • using Unity Android In a sub view and add actionbar and style

    - by aeroxr1
I exported a simple animation from Unity3D (version 4.5) in android project. With eclipse I modified the manifest and added another activity. • Understanding the concept of inheritance in Java

    - by Nirmal
Hello All.... I am just refreshing the oops features of the java. So, I have a little confusion regarding inheritance concept. For that I have a following sample code : class Super{ int index = 5; public void printVal(){ System.out.println("Super"); } } class Sub extends Super{ int index = 2; public void printVal(){ System.out.println("Sub"); } } public class Runner { public static void main(String args[]){ Super sup = new Sub(); System.out.println(sup.index+","); sup.printVal(); } } Now above code is giving me output as : 5,Sub. Here, we are overriding printVal() method, so that is understandable that it is accessing child class method only. But I could not understand why it's accessing the value of x from Super class... Thanks in advance....

  • SQL Group By equivalent

    - by MikeB
Pretend I have a cupcake_rating table: id | cupcake | delicious_rating -------------------------------------------- 1 | Strawberry | Super Delicious 2 | Strawberry | Mouth Heaven 3 | Blueberry | Godly 4 | Blueberry | Super Delicious I want to find all the cupcakes that have a 'Super Delicious' AND 'Mouth Heaven' rating. I feel like this is easily achievable using a group by clause and maybe a having. I was thinking: select distinct(cupcake) from cupcake_rating group by cupcake having delicious_rating in ('Super Delicious', 'Mouth Heaven') I know I can't have two separate AND statements. I was able to achieve my goal using: select distinct(cupcake) from cupcake_rating where cupcake in ( select cupcake from cupcake_rating where delicious_rating = 'Super Delicious' ) and cupcake in ( select cupcake from cupcake_rating where delicious_rating = 'Mouth Heaven' ) This will not be satisfactory because once I add a third type of rating I am looking for, the query will take hours (there are a lot of cupcake ratings).

  • Django Inherited Field Access

    - by Rick
As of the most current version, Django does not allow a subclass to have a variable with the same name as a variable in its superclass, if that variable is a Field instance. I need a subclass to modify this variable, which I call 'department'. Calling my classes super and sub, I need sub to modify the department variable it inherits from super. If I redeclare it, Django throws a field error. Of course, if I don't, department is not in scope for reassignment. If super has no department I get database errors. I get weird behaviour when I try rewriting init: def __init__(self): super(theSuperClass, self).__init__() TypeError: super(type, obj): obj must be an instance or subtype of type Anyone have any idea how to do this?

  • Raid 1 array won't assemble after power outage. How do I fix this ext4 mirror?

    - by Forkrul Assail
Two ext4 drives on Raid 1 with mdadm won't reassemble after the power went out for an extended period (UPS drained). After turning the machine back on, mdadm said that the array was degraded, after which it took about 2 days for a full resync, which completed without problems. • How to pass touch from a UITextView to a UITableViewCell

    - by Martin
I have a UITextView in a custom UITableViewCell. The textview works properly (scrolls, shows text, etc.) but I need the users to be able to tap the table cell and go to another screen. Right now, if you tap the edges of the table cell (i.e. outside the UItextView) the next view is properly called. But clearly inside the uitextview the touches are being captured and not forwarded to the table cell. I found a post that talked about subclassing UITextView to forward the touches. I tried that without luck. The implementation is below. I'm wondering if maybe a) the super of my textview isn't the uitableviewcell and thus I need to pass the touch some other way or b) If the super is the uitableviewcell if I need to pass something else? Any help would be much appreciated. #import "ScrollableTextView.h" @implementation ScrollableTextView - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { if (parentScrollView) { [parentScrollView touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event]; } [super touchesBegan:touches withEvent:event]; } - (void)touchesCancelled:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { if (parentScrollView) { [parentScrollView touchesCancelled:touches withEvent:event]; } [super touchesCancelled:touches withEvent:event]; } - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { if (parentScrollView) { [parentScrollView touchesEnded:touches withEvent:event]; } [super touchesEnded:touches withEvent:event]; } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { if (parentScrollView) { [parentScrollView touchesMoved:touches withEvent:event]; } [super touchesMoved:touches withEvent:event]; } - (BOOL)canBecomeFirstResponder { return YES; } @end

  • iPhone: Calling dealloc on parentViewController causes an exception

    - by arielcamus
Hi, I'm dealing with viewDidUnload and dealloc methods and I've founded a problem when calling [super dealloc]; in parent view controller. I have a lot of view controllers with custom code which I have putted outside on a parent view controller. So, when defining my view controllers I set a reference to the super class: @interface LoginViewController : AbstractViewController Then, at the dealloc method I call the AbstractViewController dealloc method: //(Login View Controller code) - (void)dealloc { [user release]; [passwd release]; [super dealloc]; } [super dealloc] execute the following code: //(Abstract View Controller code) - (void)dealloc { [dbUtils release]; [loadingView release]; [super dealloc]; } If I simulate a memory warning on iPhone Simulator, the following exception is thrown: 2010-03-03 11:27:45.805 MyApp[71563:40b] Received simulated memory warning. 2010-03-03 11:27:45.808 MyApp[71563:40b] *** -[LoginViewController isViewLoaded]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x13b51b0 kill quit However, if I comment the [super dealloc] line in AbstractViewController the exception is not thrown and my app still running. Thank you for your help once again!

  • What does it mean to say "Instance variables are not over-rided" in java?

    - by Ankit
I am aware of the concept called field hiding in java. But still I am having a confusion in relation to instance variable being not over-ridden. According to my present knowledge, overriding a method of super-class means that the JVM will call the sub-class's over-ridden method though the super-class's method is available to the sub-class. And I read the similar thing for field hiding via the link:- Hiding Fields So, in any case we are over-ridding the instance if we change the values of the inherited instance variable in the sub-class. I am confused please help. I am using the following super-class:- public class Animal{ File picture; String food; int hunger; int width, height; int xcoord, ycoord; public void makeNoise(){ ......... } public void eat(){ ............. } public void sleep(){ .......... } public void roam(){ ............. } } It has sub-classes like Tiger, cat, dog, hippo etc. The sub-classes over-ride the makeNoise(), eat and roam() method. But each sub-class also uses a different set of values for instance variables. So as per my confusion, I am kind-of overriding all the instance variables and 3 methods of the super-class Animal; and I still have the super-class instance variables available to the sub-class with the use of the super keyword.

  • Best way to implement game loop without freezing UI thread

    - by Matt H
I'm trying to make a simple 2D game in Java. So far I have a JFrame, with a menubar, and a class which extends JPanel and overrides it's paint method. Now, I need to get a game loop going, where I will update the position of images and so on. However, I'm stuck at how best to achieve this. Should I use multi-threading, because surely, if you put an infinite loop on the main thread, the UI (and thus my menu bar) will freeze up? Here's my code so far: import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Graphics; import javax.swing.JPanel; @SuppressWarnings("serial") public class GameCanvas extends JPanel { public void paint(Graphics g) { while (true) { g.setColor(Color.DARK_GRAY); try { Thread.sleep(100); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } } import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JMenu; import javax.swing.JMenuBar; import javax.swing.JMenuItem; @SuppressWarnings("serial") public class Main extends JFrame { GameCanvas canvas = new GameCanvas(); final int FRAME_HEIGHT = 400; final int FRAME_WIDTH = 400; public static void main(String args[]) { new Main(); } public Main() { super("Game"); JMenuBar menuBar = new JMenuBar(); JMenu fileMenu = new JMenu("File"); JMenuItem startMenuItem = new JMenuItem("Pause"); menuBar.add(fileMenu); fileMenu.add(startMenuItem); super.add(canvas); super.setVisible(true); super.setSize(FRAME_WIDTH, FRAME_WIDTH); super.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); super.setJMenuBar(menuBar); } } Any pointers/tips? Also, where should I put my loop? In my main class, or my GameCanvas class? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

  • Android Actionbar Tabs + Fragments + Service

    - by Vladimir
So, I have 3 problems with my code: 1) I want that each tab saves its state. So that a TextView shows changed text if it was changed. 2) if I go to Tab2 then to Tab1 I can't see the content of the fragments. Only if I touch on the already selected tab, it shows me the content 3) I can't correctly connect/bind and unbind service to Fragment Text must be changed from Service. Please help, I don't know how I realize my intent.
