  • JQuery.ajax(): Problem with parameter data when consuming a WCF Service

    - by Torben H.
    Hello, I'm using JQuery to consume a WCF Service. Actually this works fine: var para = ' { "Parameter" : { "ID" : "5", "Name" : "Peter" } }' $.ajax({ type: "POST", contentType: "application/json", data: para, url: url success: success }); But I don't want to pass the data parameter as String and I think it should be possible to pass ist as array in any way. Like that: var para = { "Parameter" : { "ID" : 5, "Name" : "Peter" } } But when I try this I'm getting an error. What I'm doing wrong? Thanks

  • IIS 7 problem which does not occur under apache

    - by cc0
    I'm hosting a little site using a JavaScript to draw a simple graph. It involves one html index file, some css and some js files. It has all been working perfectly on two different apache servers, but when I set up IIS 7 the ajax calls fail. I get no java debug errors in firefox that I can work with, or any kind of error message at all. Without going into the code itself, does anyone have a similar experience with IIS? This is the first time I'm using IIS so I'm not quite sure what to expect to have trouble with. I'd love some input on this, if I have to delve into the code itself I'll make a new thread, I just thought I'd see if this could be a typical issue. Any help is appreciated!

  • Display loading while webservice is running

    - by poseid
    On the initial request to a page, I trigger a webservice and want to display a loading message. When the page has finished loading, I want to remove the waiting message from screen, but display it again when a change event in a checkbox triggers an Ajax call with another loading message. This code is not behaving to the given spec: $(document).ready( $(function() { $('#loadingDiv').hide(); $('#productsDropDown') .change(function() { var prodValue = $(this).val(); $('#proddate').load('getpdate.php', {prod: prodValue }); }); $('#loadingDiv') .ajaxStart(function() { $(this).show(); }) .ajaxStop(function() { $(this).hide(); }) ; }); ); what am I doing wrong?

    - by user1472224

I have spent the last couple days trying to figure this out as well. Can someone please point me in the right direction. current output (from php page) - Array (thats all the page outputs)

  • how to access method variables from within an anonomous function in javascript

    - by Hussain
    I'm writing a small ajax class for personal use. In the class, I have a "post" method for sending post requests. The post method has a callback parameter. In the onreadystatechange propperty, I need to call the callback method. Something like this: this.requestObject.onreadystatechange = function() { callback(this.responseText); } However, I can't access the callback variable from within the anonomous function. How can I bring the callback variable into the scope of the onreadystatechange anonomous function?

  • Google Contacts Data API and PHP

    - by pako
    I'm developing a PHP application to retrieve the list of contacts from a GMail account. I'm looking for a solution which would enable the user of my application to provide the login and password to their Gmail account in my application (as opposed to getting redirected to Google) and then automatically do the retrieval. The retrieval process can be run in PHP or JavaScript (which would then feed the list of contacts back to PHP using Ajax). Is it possible to do that? Which JavaScript API should I use for that? Can someone point me at the right chapter in Google Contacts Data API documentation?

  • Convert UTC date to actual date and time

    - by evann
    I have a chart of bitcoin prices. I have the correct prices on the Y-axis, but I cannot get the correct time on the X-axis. The time shows up in a UTC format in my console. I am adding price and date to the series each iteration. I need to get the date of that particular result and find the YEAR, MONTH and DAY of that so I can put it in the right format. Any help is appreciated thanks. $.ajax({ url: "/chart/ajax_get_chart", // the URL of the controller action method dataType: "json", type: "GET", success: function (result) { var result = JSON.parse(result); series = []; for (var i = 0; i < result.length; i++) { tempArray = [parseFloat(result[i]['price'])]; tempDate = Date.parse(result[i]['date']); series.push(tempDate); series.push(tempArray); }

  • How do the do that? Transparent foreground on a web page

    - by Jim Beam
    I really can't find the right Google terms to track this down. But you're all quite smart so thought I'd post it here. You know how sometimes you are on a good site and you click a button (like to submit a form) and the form doesn't go away, instead, the foreground becomes transparent and it contains a message of some kind, or another page. The message is at the forefront but the previous page is still mostly visible behind it - how do they do that? I'm assuming it's an AJAX-esque trick.

  • Calling ASP.NET web service function via GET method with jQuery

    - by the_V
    Hi, I'm trying to call web service function via GET method using jQuery, but having a problem. This is a web service code: [WebService(Namespace = "http://something.com/samples")] [ScriptService] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] public class TestWebService : System.Web.Services.WebService { [WebMethod] public string Test2() { string result = null; try { result = "{'result':'success', 'datetime':'" + DateTime.Now.ToString() + "'"; } catch (Exception ex) { result = "Something wrong happened"; } return result; } } That's the way I call the function: $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "http://localhost/testwebsite/TestWebService.asmx/Test2", data: "{}", contentType: "application/json", dataType: "json", error: function (xhr, status, error) { alert(xhr.responseText); }, success: function (msg) { alert('Call was successful!'); } }); Method is called successfully, but result string gets covered by XML tags, like this: <string> {'result':'success', 'datetime':'4/26/2010 12:11:18 PM' </string> And I get an error because of this (error handler is called). Does anybody know what can be done about this?

  • HttpSessionState Where, How, Advantages?

    - by blgnklc
    You see the code below, how I did use the session variable; So the three questions are; 1- Where are they stored? (Server or Client side) 2- Are they unique for each web page visitor? 3- Can I remove it using ajax or simple js code when my job is done with it? or it will be removed automatically..? sbyte[][] arrImages = svc.getImagesForFields(new String[] { "CustomerName", "CustomerSurName" }); Dictionary<string, byte[]> smartImageData = new Dictionary<string, byte[]>(); int i = 0; foreach (sbyte[] bytes in arrImages) { smartImageData.Add(fieldNames[i], ConvertToByte(bytes)); i++; } Session.Add("SmartImageData", smartImageData);

  • BlackBerry responseXML is null

    - by Andrew
    I'm trying to port a portion of AJAX code I wrote over to the BlackBerry application's embedded browser. Our base build is 4.6.1 and the RIM documentation claims that XMLHttpRequest's responseXML is available starting with this version. And when I request an XML file from my local server, I get back the responseText (so I know the request is working), but the responseXML is always null. I've made sure the HTTP "Content-Type" header is set to "text/xml" and I am getting the correct data loaded in a web browser. It's just nulling out in the BB web environment. Does anyone know what might be happening? A backup of using the responseText and piping it through DOMParser is not possible because that object was not added to the BB browser until 4.7.1. So I'm not sure what fallback I have.

  • jQuery $(document).ready and UpdatePanels?

    - by Herb Caudill
    I'm using jQuery to wire up some mouseover effects on elements that are inside an UpdatePanel. The events are bound in $(document).ready . For example: $(function() { $('div._Foo').bind("mouseover", function(e) { // Do something exciting }); }); Of course, this works fine the first time the page is loaded, but when the UpdatePanel does a partial page update, it's not run and the mouseover effects don't work any more inside the UpdatePanel. What's the recommended approach for wiring stuff up in jQuery not only on the first page load, but every time an UpdatePanel fires a partial page update? Should I be using the ASP.NET ajax lifecycle instead of $(document).ready?
