  • Gathering statistics for an Oracle WebCenter Content Database

    - by Nicolas Montoya
    Have you ever heard: "My Oracle WebCenter Content instance is running slow. I checked the memory and CPU usage of the application server and it has plenty of resources. What could be going wrong?An Oracle WebCenter Content instance runs on an application server and relies on a database server on the back end. If your application server tier is running fine, chances are that your database server tier may host the root of the problem. While many things could cause performance problems, on active Enterprise Content Management systems, keeping database statistics updated is extremely important.The Oracle Database have a set of built-in optimizer utilities that can help make database queries more efficient. It is strongly recommended to update or re-create the statistics about the physical characteristics of a table and the associated indexes in order to maximize the efficiency of optimizers. These physical characteristics include: Number of records Number of pages Average record length The frequency with which you need to update statistics depends on how quickly the data is changing. Typically, statistics should be updated when the number of new items since the last update is greater than ten percent of the number of items when the statistics were last updated. If a large amount of documents are being added or removed from the system, the a post step should be added to gather statistics upon completion of this massive data change. In some cases, you may need to collect statistics in the middle of the data processing to expedite its execution. These proceses include but are not limited to: data migration, bootstrapping of a new system, records management disposition processing (typically at the end of the calendar year), etc. A DOCUMENTS table with a ten million rows will often generate a very different plan than a table with just a thousand.A quick check of the statistics for the WebCenter Content (WCC) Database could be performed via the below query:SELECT OWNER, TABLE_NAME, NUM_ROWS, BLOCKS, AVG_ROW_LEN,TO_CHAR(LAST_ANALYZED, 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')FROM DBA_TABLESWHERE TABLE_NAME='DOCUMENTS';OWNER                          TABLE_NAME                       NUM_ROWS------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----------    BLOCKS AVG_ROW_LEN TO_CHAR(LAST_ANALYZ---------- ----------- -------------------ATEAM_OCS                      DOCUMENTS                            4172        46          61 04/06/2012 11:17:51This output will return not only the date when the WCC table DOCUMENTS was last analyzed, but also it will return the <DATABASE SCHEMA OWNER> for this table in the form of <PREFIX>_OCS.This database username could later on be used to check on other objects owned by the WCC <DATABASE SCHEMA OWNER> as shown below:SELECT OWNER, TABLE_NAME, NUM_ROWS, BLOCKS, AVG_ROW_LEN,TO_CHAR(LAST_ANALYZED, 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')FROM DBA_TABLESWHERE OWNER='ATEAM_OCS'ORDER BY NUM_ROWS ASC;...OWNER                          TABLE_NAME                       NUM_ROWS------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----------    BLOCKS AVG_ROW_LEN TO_CHAR(LAST_ANALYZ---------- ----------- -------------------ATEAM_OCS                      REVISIONS                            2051        46         141 04/09/2012 22:00:22ATEAM_OCS                      DOCUMENTS                            4172        46          61 04/06/2012 11:17:51ATEAM_OCS                      ARCHIVEHISTORY                       4908       244         218 04/06/2012 11:17:49OWNER                          TABLE_NAME                       NUM_ROWS------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----------    BLOCKS AVG_ROW_LEN TO_CHAR(LAST_ANALYZ---------- ----------- -------------------ATEAM_OCS                      DOCUMENTHISTORY                      5865       110          72 04/06/2012 11:17:50ATEAM_OCS                      SCHEDULEDJOBSHISTORY                10131       244         131 04/06/2012 11:17:54ATEAM_OCS                      SCTACCESSLOG                        10204       496         268 04/06/2012 11:17:54...The Oracle Database allows to collect statistics of many different kinds as an aid to improving performance. The DBMS_STATS package is concerned with optimizer statistics only. The database sets automatic statistics collection of this kind on by default, DBMS_STATS package is intended for only specialized cases.The following subprograms gather certain classes of optimizer statistics:GATHER_DATABASE_STATS Procedures GATHER_DICTIONARY_STATS Procedure GATHER_FIXED_OBJECTS_STATS Procedure GATHER_INDEX_STATS Procedure GATHER_SCHEMA_STATS Procedures GATHER_SYSTEM_STATS Procedure GATHER_TABLE_STATS ProcedureThe DBMS_STATS.GATHER_SCHEMA_STATS PL/SQL Procedure gathers statistics for all objects in a schema.DBMS_STATS.GATHER_SCHEMA_STATS (    ownname          VARCHAR2,    estimate_percent NUMBER   DEFAULT to_estimate_percent_type                                                 (get_param('ESTIMATE_PERCENT')),    block_sample     BOOLEAN  DEFAULT FALSE,    method_opt       VARCHAR2 DEFAULT get_param('METHOD_OPT'),   degree           NUMBER   DEFAULT to_degree_type(get_param('DEGREE')),    granularity      VARCHAR2 DEFAULT GET_PARAM('GRANULARITY'),    cascade          BOOLEAN  DEFAULT to_cascade_type(get_param('CASCADE')),    stattab          VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL,    statid           VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL,    options          VARCHAR2 DEFAULT 'GATHER',    objlist          OUT      ObjectTab,   statown          VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL,    no_invalidate    BOOLEAN  DEFAULT to_no_invalidate_type (                                     get_param('NO_INVALIDATE')),  force             BOOLEAN DEFAULT FALSE);There are several values for the OPTIONS parameter that we need to know about: GATHER reanalyzes the whole schema     GATHER EMPTY only analyzes tables that have no existing statistics GATHER STALE only reanalyzes tables with more than 10 percent modifications (inserts, updates,   deletes) GATHER AUTO will reanalyze objects that currently have no statistics and objects with stale statistics. Using GATHER AUTO is like combining GATHER STALE and GATHER EMPTY. Example:exec dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats( -   ownname          => '<PREFIX>_OCS', -   options          => 'GATHER AUTO' -);

  • Branding Support for TopComponents

    - by Geertjan
    In yesterday's blog entry, you saw how a menu item can be created, in this case with the label "Brand", especially for Java classes that extend TopComponent: And, as you can see here, it's not about the name of the class, i.e., not because the class above is named "BlaTopComponent" because below the "Brand" men item is also available for the class named "Bla": Both the files BlaTopComponent.java and Bla.java have the "Brand" menu item available, because both extend the "org.openide.windows.TopComponent"  class, as shown yesterday. Now we continue by creating a new JPanel, with checkboxes for each part of a TopComponent that we consider to be brandable. In my case, this is the end result, at deployment, when the Brand menu item is clicked for the Bla class: When the user (who, in this case, is a developer) clicks OK, a constructor is created and the related client properties are added, depending on which of the checkboxes are clicked: public Bla() {     putClientProperty(TopComponent.PROP_SLIDING_DISABLED, false);     putClientProperty(TopComponent.PROP_UNDOCKING_DISABLED, true);     putClientProperty(TopComponent.PROP_MAXIMIZATION_DISABLED, false);     putClientProperty(TopComponent.PROP_CLOSING_DISABLED, true);     putClientProperty(TopComponent.PROP_DRAGGING_DISABLED, false); } At this point, no check is done to see whether a constructor already exists, nor whether the client properties are already available. That's for an upcoming blog entry! Right now, the constructor is always created, regardless of whether it already exists, and the client properties are always added. The key to all this is the 'actionPeformed' of the TopComponent, which was left empty yesterday. We start by creating a JDialog from the JPanel and we retrieve the selected state of the checkboxes defined in the JPanel: @Override public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ev) {     String msg = dobj.getName() + " Branding";     final BrandTopComponentPanel brandTopComponentPanel = new BrandTopComponentPanel();     dd = new DialogDescriptor(brandTopComponentPanel, msg, true, new ActionListener() {         @Override         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {             Object result = dd.getValue();             if (DialogDescriptor.OK_OPTION == result) {                 isClosing = brandTopComponentPanel.getClosingCheckBox().isSelected();                 isDragging = brandTopComponentPanel.getDraggingCheckBox().isSelected();                 isMaximization = brandTopComponentPanel.getMaximizationCheckBox().isSelected();                 isSliding = brandTopComponentPanel.getSlidingCheckBox().isSelected();                 isUndocking = brandTopComponentPanel.getUndockingCheckBox().isSelected();                 JavaSource javaSource = JavaSource.forFileObject(dobj.getPrimaryFile());                 try {                     javaSource.runUserActionTask(new ScanTask(javaSource), true);                 } catch (IOException ex) {                     Exceptions.printStackTrace(ex);                 }             }         }     });     DialogDisplayer.getDefault().createDialog(dd).setVisible(true); } Then we start a scan process, which introduces the branding. We're already doing a scan process for identifying whether a class is a TopComponent. So, let's combine those two scans, branching out based on which one we're doing: private class ScanTask implements Task<CompilationController> {     private BrandTopComponentAction action = null;     private JavaSource js = null;     private ScanTask(JavaSource js) {         this.js = js;     }     private ScanTask(BrandTopComponentAction action) {         this.action = action;     }     @Override     public void run(final CompilationController info) throws Exception {         info.toPhase(Phase.ELEMENTS_RESOLVED);         if (action != null) {             new EnableIfTopComponentScanner(info, action).scan(                     info.getCompilationUnit(), null);         } else {             introduceBranding();         }     }     private void introduceBranding() throws IOException {         CancellableTask task = new CancellableTask<WorkingCopy>() {             @Override             public void run(WorkingCopy workingCopy) throws IOException {                 workingCopy.toPhase(Phase.RESOLVED);                 CompilationUnitTree cut = workingCopy.getCompilationUnit();                 TreeMaker treeMaker = workingCopy.getTreeMaker();                 for (Tree typeDecl : cut.getTypeDecls()) {                     if (Tree.Kind.CLASS == typeDecl.getKind()) {                         ClassTree clazz = (ClassTree) typeDecl;                         ModifiersTree methodModifiers = treeMaker.Modifiers(Collections.<Modifier>singleton(Modifier.PUBLIC));                         MethodTree newMethod =                                 treeMaker.Method(methodModifiers,                                 "<init>",                                 treeMaker.PrimitiveType(TypeKind.VOID),                                 Collections.<TypeParameterTree>emptyList(),                                 Collections.EMPTY_LIST,                                 Collections.<ExpressionTree>emptyList(),                                 "{ putClientProperty(TopComponent.PROP_SLIDING_DISABLED, " + isSliding + ");\n"+                                 "  putClientProperty(TopComponent.PROP_UNDOCKING_DISABLED, " + isUndocking + ");\n"+                                 "  putClientProperty(TopComponent.PROP_MAXIMIZATION_DISABLED, " + isMaximization + ");\n"+                                 "  putClientProperty(TopComponent.PROP_CLOSING_DISABLED, " + isClosing + ");\n"+                                 "  putClientProperty(TopComponent.PROP_DRAGGING_DISABLED, " + isDragging + "); }\n",                                 null);                         ClassTree modifiedClazz = treeMaker.addClassMember(clazz, newMethod);                         workingCopy.rewrite(clazz, modifiedClazz);                     }                 }             }             @Override             public void cancel() {             }         };         ModificationResult result = js.runModificationTask(task);         result.commit();     } } private static class EnableIfTopComponentScanner extends TreePathScanner<Void, Void> {     private CompilationInfo info;     private final AbstractAction action;     public EnableIfTopComponentScanner(CompilationInfo info, AbstractAction action) {         this.info = info;         this.action = action;     }     @Override     public Void visitClass(ClassTree t, Void v) {         Element el = info.getTrees().getElement(getCurrentPath());         if (el != null) {             TypeElement te = (TypeElement) el;             if (te.getSuperclass().toString().equals("org.openide.windows.TopComponent")) {                 action.setEnabled(true);             } else {                 action.setEnabled(false);             }         }         return null;     } }

  • How to remove default header from WCF REST Outgoing Response?

    - by bmsantos
The following C# WCF based REST service gives me some undesired headers that I'm not sure if I can remove them trough the API. The interface: [ServiceContract] public interface IControlSystem { [OperationContract] [WebGet] System.IO.Stream About(); } The implementation: public class ControlSystem : IControlSystem { public System.IO.Stream About() { return new System.IO.MemoryStream(ASCIIEncoding.Default.GetBytes("Hello World")); } } Out of a raw socket connection it gives the following response: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: ASP.NET Development Server/9.0.0.0 Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2010 13:12:51 GMT X-AspNet-Version: 2.0.50727 Cache-Control: private Content-Type: application/octet-stream Content-Length: 39 Connection: Close Hello World Question is, is it possible to get the server to not report anything other than the actual message? Need it in some calls so due to some small embedded device clients that will try to connect to the server and I would like to minimize the amount of parsing. Thanks, B.

  • Is there a default buffer length for 'sprintf' method?

    - by Isuru
Hi, I used sprintf method to format data to a string which I want to write to a file, in C++ console application using VS 2008. The Input is a particular message, which has various variables and values (ex: Type 'int' and Value '10' / Type string and value "abc", etc.) When I send a two messages it works perfectly. But When I send more than two messages it gives a runtime error saying 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xabababab. Why is this happening? Is it because the method 'sprintf' has a default buffer length? How can I overcome this problem?

  • In Rails/ActiveRecord 3, how do I change the default primary key type for MySQL?

    - by jfarmer
In Rails 3, how do you change the default primary key type to, say, BIGINT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY In my case I'm only interested in MySQL. For Rails 2, you can see the answer to "How do I use long IDs in Rails?"1 In Rails 3, however, this will throw an error. I'm not sure if that's because the class is no long used, or if the code needs to go in the same place. You can see in active_record/connection_adapters/mysql_adapter.rb that the NATIVE_DATABASE_TYPES constant is still defined. What's the correct way to achieve the same effect in Rails 3?

  • How can I put my own text hover into default Eclipse editor?

    - by vitivy
I need to put some extra information into to the standard "javadoc" hover, that shows up when you go with mouse over some token. Or I need to create a new hover showing that information while pressing some key (like alt) and then hovering (I can see that this is done e.g. with the shift key, which enables us to see the hover with sourcecode, instead of javadoc). So far I found documentation on how to create hover in your own editors, but I need to extend the default java editor. Basically I am interested in showing some e-mail information related to the classname (token) over which user is hovering. Is there any extension point that could be used for this? Thanks for any help!

  • How to manipulate the default behaviour of jQuery Imageflow?

    - by Tim
Some of you sure know the jQuery-Plugin Imageflow on hxxp://finnrudolph.de/ImageFlow/ (sorry for that, I definitely need to gain reputation, working on it ;)) The default behaviour is that the images within the image-container (which has 100% width in this case) will be resized according to the image-container. There's an option to declare the distance between every image and it would be much better, if this value would be encreased and decreased with the window-resize-event. Everything seems to happen in a function called "moveTo" which is unfortunately also responsible for the resizing when moving to another image. I tried it since hours now but I don't come to a solution. Find the source-code here, and the mentioned function "moveTo" on line 554. Thank your very much for any help! Tim

  • How can I enable Pascal casing by default when using Jackson JSON in Spring MVC?

    - by bhilstrom
I have a project that uses Spring MVC to create and handle multiple REST endpoints. I'm currently working on using Jackson to automatically handle the seralization/deserialization of JSON using the @RequestBody and @ResponseBody annotations. I have gotten Jackson working, so I've got a starting point. My problem is that our old serialization was done manually and used Pascal casing instead of Camel casing ("MyVariable" instead of "myVariable"), and Jackson does Camel casing by default. I know that I can manually change the name for a variable using @JsonProperty. That being said, I do not consider adding "@JsonProperty" to all of my variables to be a viable long-term solution. Is there a way to make Jackson use Pascal casing when serializing and deserializing other than using the @JsonProperty annotation?

I have several keybindings in my text editing application that no longer work now that I have switched from using a regular textbox to using a richtextbox. This is because the wpf richtextbox has several default hokeys such as "Ctrl+1", "Ctrl+2", and "Ctrl+5". My keybindings are defined in a view that contains the view that the richtextbox is in. I can't move the keybindings to the richtextbox; Is there any fix for this problem? Other than using a third-party control or creating my own richtextbox from textboxbase.

I have added the following tag to the site to tell the browser that compatibility mode should NOT be used. <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=Edge" > I have the doctype as this: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> Still, the browser doesn't seem to default to standard mode and the user must manually ensure that they are NOT in compatibility mode. Can I disable IE 9 Compatibility Mode? Have I done what I need to do to disable IE 9 Compatibility Mode? Can the user always override IE 9 Standards Mode?

  • iphone: custom UITableViewCell taller than the default cell view.

    - by Luc
Hello, I'm creating an application that consists of a ListView with 5 rows: - 1st one containing a graph - 2nd to 5th rows containing some data with the same formatting. I have created 2 classes: GraphCustomViewCell and DataCustomViewCell. Depending upon the position of the cell I load the correct CustomCell with: NSArray *topLevelObjects = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"GraphCustomViewCell" owner:nil options:nil]; for(id currentObject in topLevelObjects) { if([currentObject isKindOfClass:[GraphCustomViewCell class]]) { cell = (GraphCustomViewCell *)currentObject; break; } } That works fine except that the first row, the one corresponding to the graph, is bigger (in height) that the 4 other rows, and as a results it hides the 3 first other rows. Is there any option in the table view that enables the custom cell to expand the default cells ? I'd like that the 5 rows (graph + 4 data rows) to fit the entire screen (480 - tabbar's height). Thanks a lot for your help. Regards, Luc

  • Python: re-initialize a function's default value for subsequent calls to the function.

    - by Peter Stewart
I have a function that calls itself to increment and decrement a stack. I need to call it a number of times, and I'd like it to work the same way in subsequent calls but, as expected, it doesn't re-use the default value. I've read that this is a newbie trap and I've seen suggested solutions, but I haven't been able to make any solution work. It would be nice to be able to "fun.reset" def a(x, stack = [None]): print x,' ', stack if x > 5: temp = stack.pop() if x <=5: stack.append(1) if stack == []: return a(x + 1) print a(0) print a(2) #second call print a(3) #third call I expected this to work, but it doesn't. print a(0, [None]) print a(2, [None]) #second call print a(3, [None]) #third call Can I reset the function to it's initial state? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Have the default security settings changed in Windows 7 that would affect IPrincipal.IsInRole?

    - by adrianbanks
We use NTLM auth in our application to determine whether a user can perform certain operations. We use the IPrincipal of their current Windows login (in WinForms applications), calling IsInRole to check for specific group memberships. To check that a user is a local administrator on the machine, we use: AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetPrincipalPolicy(PrincipalPolicy.WindowsPrincipal); ... bool allowed = Thread.CurrentPrincipal.IsInRole(@"Builtin\Administrators") This works if the current user is the Administrator user, or is another user that is a member of the Builtin\Administrators group. In our testing on Windows 7, we have found that this no longer works as expected. The Administrator user still works fine, but any other user that is a member of the Builtin\Administrators group returns false for the IsInRole call. What could be causing this difference? I have a gut feeling that a default setting has changed somewhere (possible in gpedit), but cannot find anything that looks like the culprit.

  • How to stop Javascript from showing default image and only text for link?

    - by tokyowp
The Javascript below has a default image, but I would like display text "only text url" for this link instead of this button at this link http://developer.mixi.co.jp/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/bt_check_1.gif that this script defaults to. Is this possible? <div> <a href="http://mixi.jp/share.pl" class="mixi-check-button" data-key="some-data-key" data-url="http://someurl.com">only text url </a> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://static.mixi.jp/js/share.js"></script> </div>

  • How do I set default values on new properties for existing entities after light weight core data migration?

    - by Moritz
I've successfully completed light weight migration on my core data model. My custom entity Vehicle received a new property 'tirePressure' which is an optional property of type double with the default value 0.00. When 'old' Vehicles are fetched from the store (Vehicles that were created before the migration took place) the value for their 'tirePressure' property is nil. (Is that expected behavior?) So I thought: "No problem, I'll just do this in the Vehicle class:" - (void)awakeFromFetch { [super awakeFromFetch]; if (nil == self.tirePressure) { [self willChangeValueForKey:@"tirePressure"]; self.tirePressure = [NSNumber numberWithDouble:0.0]; [self didChangeValueForKey:@"tirePressure"]; } } Since "change processing is explicitly disabled around" awakeFromFetch I thought the calls to willChangeValueForKey and didChangeValueForKey would mark 'tirePresure' as dirty. But they don't. Every time these Vehicles are fetched from the store 'tirePressure' continues to be nil despite having saved the context.

  • How do I change the default format of log messages in python app engine?

    - by dazed-n-confused
I would like to log the module and classname by default in log messages from my request handlers. The usual way to do this seems to be to set a custom format string by calling logging.basicConfig, but this can only be called once and has already been called by the time my code runs. Another method is to create a new log Handler which can be passed a new log Formatter, but this doesn't seem right as I want to use the existing log handler that App Engine has installed. What is the right way to have extra information added to all log messages in python App Engine, but otherwise use the existing log format and sink?

Also if there is a better way to make configuring ld to using the default gcc linking? Thanks
