• download zip file using java?

  I am downloading zip file from web server using Java but somehow I am loosing about 2kb in each file. • Problem with building tree bottom up

  Hi, I have problems building a binary tree from the bottom up. THe input of the tree would be internal nodes of the trees with the children of this node being the leaves of the eventual tree. So initially if the tree is empty the root would be the first internal node. Afterwards, The next internal node to be added would be the new root(NR), with the old root(OR) being one of the child of NR. And so on. The problem i have is that whenever i add a NR, the children of the OR seems to be lost when i do a inOrder traversal. This is proven to be the case when i do a getSize() call which returns the same number of nodes before and after addNode(Tree,Node) Any help with resolving this problem is appreciated edited with the inclusion of node class code. both tree and node classes have the addChild methods because i'm not very sure where to put them for it to be appropriated. any comments on this would be appreciated too. • How to combine template partial specialization and template argument deduction

  My understanding is that template argument deduction is only for function templates, but function templates does not allow partial specialization. Is there a way to achieve both? I basically want to achieve a function-like object (can be a functor) with the signature template<class InputIterator1, class InputIterator2, class OutputIterator, int distribution> void GetQuantity(InputIterator1 frist1, InputIterator1 last1, InputIterator2 first2, OutputIterator result, double supply, double limit); Depending on the value of distribution, I want to have a couple of specializations of this template. And when I call this function,I basically do not want to specify all the type parameters, because they are many of them (and thus I need argument deduction)!

• Logictech USB HID controller message

  I have a Logitech game controller(http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Dual-Action-Game-Pad/dp/B0000ALFCI). I'm using c# and Microsoft's HID driver to track what buttons are being pressed. Each button press sends a Byte Array that has 8 values. The problems is that I don't know what those 8 value represent. Here is an example: 0, 128, 126, 127, 130, 24, 24, 0, 4, 252 0, 128, 126, 127, 130, 40, 40, 0, 4, 252 0, 128, 126, 127, 127, 72, 72, 0, 4, 252 0, 128, 126, 127, 127, 136, 136, 0, 4, 252 Those are the values of the Byte Array for button press 1, 2, 3, 4 respectively. I see where the values are changing, but I'm unsure what they represent. I'm unable to find any specs on Microsoft HID driver. Can someone point me in the right direction?

• Sending binary data from ASP to .net component

  The ASP application allows uploading of image files (jpg, gif, tif). These files are sent to a .net component registered in the GAC of the server. In the component file is encoded using System.Text.Unicode to byte[] array. This encoding is done with some data loss. The byte array has values 253 and 255 in consequetive elements. What could be the problem ? I'm sending the binary data as a string. Please help me... Thanks in advance, John

• Mobile Safari Geolocation API Issues

  Hi, since Mobile Safari's Geolocation API should be an implementation of the W3C Geolocation API I found some bugs. I was wondering if anybody noticed the same. As specified in the W3C Geolocation API the PositionCallback returns a Position object, which contains a Coordinates object. In this object all attributes are of type double. Using navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition and checking the Position object in the successCallback the accuracy attribute is always an object, but should be a double. The heading attribute is always -1 when testing in the iPhone simulator, but should be null or between 0 and 360. 2. Setting the options parameter for navigator.geolocation.watchPosition or navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition as specified in the W3C Geolocation API has no effect. No matter what is set as the timeout value, the win callback is called every 10 seconds. For example setting the timeout=1000 should immediately call either the successCallback or errorCallback. We are storing the hash and the binary file in a SQL DB. This works fine when we upload the same instance of a file. But when we save a new instance of the file from the DB (with today's date as the create/modify) on the file-system and then check the new hash versus the MD5 stored in the DB they do not match, and therefor fail a duplicate check. How can we check for a file hash excluding the file attributes? or is there a different issue here?

  When I call mysqldump from a controller or model I need to fully path the binary, when I call it from Rake I don't need to. If I do not fully path I get a zero byte file... I can confirm both processes are run using the same user. # Works in a controller, model and Rake task system "/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqldump -u root #{w.database_name} > #{target_file}" # Only works in a Rake task system "mysqldump -u root #{w.database_name} > #{target_file}" If I call the Rake task from the action it also fails (zero byte file). OS: Mac Ruby 1.8.6 EDIT: I use Etc.getpwuid(Process.uid).name to get the User of the current process

  My performance measurements of synchronous WCF calls from within a Silverlight application showed I can make 7 calls/s on a localhost connection, which is very slow. Can this be speeded up, or is this normal? The directory targetPath is even checked for existence before the copy code is executed and the filename looks like this: AB_timestamp.xml The user has write permissions to the targetPath and can copy the file without problems using the OS. As I don't have access to a machine this happens on yet and can't reproduce the problem on my own machine I turn to you for hints on the reason for this exception.

• Any way to get TStringList.CommaText to not escape commas with quotes?

  I'm doing some work with code generation, and one of the things I need to do is create a function call where one of the parameters is a function call, like so: result := Func1(x, y, Func2(a, b, c)); TStringList.CommaText is very useful for generating the parameter lists, but when I traverse the tree to build the outer function call, what I end up with looks like this: result := Func1(x, y, "Func2(a, b, c)"); It's quoting the third argument because it contains commas, and that produced invalid code. But I can't do something simplistic like StringReplace all double quotes with empty strings, because it's quite possible that a function argument could be a string with double quotes inside. Is there any way to make it just not escape the lines that contain commas?

According to the book NHibernate in Action, on page 187: Collections of components are mapped similarily to other collections of value type instances. The only difference is the use of <composite-element> in place of the familiar <element> tag. How would I do this using Castle ActiveRecord attributes?

  I am evaluating the use of code generation for my flight simulation project. More specifically there is a requirement to allow "the average engineer" (no offense I am one myself) to define the differential equations that describe the dynamic system in a more natural syntax than C++ provides. The idea is to devise a abstract descriptor language that can be easily understood and edited to generate C++ code from. This descriptor is supplied by the modeling engineer and used by the ones implementing and maintaining the simulation evironment to generate code. I've got something like this in mind: model Aircraft has state x1, x2; state x3; input double : u; input bool : flag1, flag2; algebraic double : x1x2; model Engine : tw1, tw2; model Gear : gear; model ISA : isa; trim routine HorizontalFight; trim routine OnGround, General; constant double : c1, c2; constant int : ci1; begin differential equations x1' = x1 + 2.*x2; x2' = x2 + x1x2; begin algebraic equations x1x2 = x1*x2 + x1'; end model It is important to retain the flexibility of the C language thus the descriptor language is meant to only define certain parts of the definition and implementation of the model class. This way one enigneer provides the model in from of the descriptor language as examplified above and the maintenance enigneer will add all the code to read parameters from files, start/stop/pause the execution of the simulation and how a concrete object gets instatiated. My first though is to either generate two files from the descriptor file: one .h file containing declarations and one .cpp file containing the implementation of certain functions.   To make story short, i'm building self-learning banner management system. Users will be able to insert these banners to their site when banners will be shown based on sales/impressions ratio. I have 4 tables Banners bannerID int bannerImage varchar.... SmartBanners smartBannerID int smartBannerArrayID int bannerID int impressionsCount int visibility tinyint (percents) SmartBannerArrays smartBannerArrayID int userID int Statistics bannerID int saleAmountPerDay decimal... Each night i need to generate new "visibility" for each SmartBanner based on whole SmartBannerArray that same user has. So i need to get sum of impressions and sales for each bannerID in SmartBannerArray. All comes to my mind is to use double cursor, one will loop thought SmartBannerArrays get needed values for sum of impressions and sales and then inner loop which will access each SmartBanner and change it's "visibility" percentage based on (sales/impressions)/(sumOfSales/sumOfImpressions)*100 Hope you get the picture... Is there any other way to design better tables or not to use double cursor to avoid server overload ?

  Can anyone tell me how adding a key scales in MySQL? I have 500,000,000 rows in a database, trans, with columns i (INT UNSIGNED), j (INT UNSIGNED), nu (DOUBLE), A (DOUBLE). I try to index a column, e.g. ALTER TABLE trans ADD KEY idx_A (A); and I wait. For a table of 14,000,000 rows it took about 2 minutes to execute on my MacBook Pro, but for the whole half a billion, it's taking 15hrs and counting. Am I doing something wrong, or am I just being naive about how indexing a database scales with the number of rows?

  Hi, I have the following code which downloads video content: WebRequest wreq = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); using (HttpWebResponse wresp = (HttpWebResponse)wreq.GetResponse()) using (Stream mystream = wresp.GetResponseStream()) { using (BinaryReader reader = new BinaryReader(mystream)) { int length = Convert.ToInt32(wresp.ContentLength); byte[] buffer = new byte[length]; buffer = reader.ReadBytes(length); Response.Clear(); Response.Buffer = false; Response.ContentType = "video/mp4"; //Response.BinaryWrite(buffer); Response.OutputStream.Write(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); Response.End(); } } But the problem is that the whole file downloads before being played. How can I make it stream and play as it's still downloading? Or is this up to the client/receiver application to manage?
