Is there any way to do this? For example: x = 0 while True: x = x + 1 if x < 30: do something and I need to update x's value from the command-line periodically

  • What causes POCO proxy entities to only sometimes be created in Entity Framework 4.

    I have set up my POCOs and I have marked their public properties as virtual and I am successfully getting Proxies most of the time (95%) but randomly I am getting EF return some proxies and some non-proxies. Recycling the app pool when this happens will then fix this instance of the error and it will go away for an amount of time. Then it will re-occur in some other random (it seems) place. What can cause this sort of behaviour? Thanks, Kohan

This is what I primarily develop (on the side-for my own use). The site hasn't given me a great overview of why it may be better than other frameworks.     Currently we are doing a payroll application in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (.Net 3.5) using some of the latest features like WCF, WF and the development for the same has almost completed. However, clients have shown their interest in migrating the developed payroll application in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (.Net 3.5) to Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 (.Net 4.0). I don't have an idea about the expected challenges in the migration or if its just going to be very smooth. Any thoughts or comments?

    We have a bunch of unit tests which test a lot of webpages and REST API services. Currently when our tests run it pulls from these pages live but this can take ages to run sometimes, and it also feels like the tests should be testing more of our code - not just relying on them being up and responding (if that makes sense..). Is it better practice to save a valid api response and with the unit tests load this in during setup? Thoughts?

  • Change|Assign parent for the Model instance on Google App Engine Datastore

    Is it possible to change or assign new parent to the Model instance that already in datastore? For example I need something like this task = db.get(db.Key(task_key)) project = db.get(db.Key(project_key)) task.parent = project task.put() but it doesn't works this way because task.parent is built-in method. I was thinking about creating a new Key instance for the task but there is no way to change key as well. Any thoughts?

  • Create jquery dropdown like RDP Menu Bar

Basically, I want a block of html to stay hidden at the top of the page with a ~3px edge sticking out (something to mouseover), and when you mouse over it, the hidden section slides down. Basically I want it to work like the RDP full screen menu bar works. Any thoughts on what the best way of doing this is?

  • How can I forcibly close a TcpListener

    I have a service which communicates through tcpListener. Problem is when the user restarts the service - an "Address already in use" exception is thrown, and the service cannot be started for a couple of minutes or so. Is there's any way of telling the system to terminate the old connection so I can open a new one? (I can't just use random ports because there is no way for the service to notify the clients what is the port, so we must depend on a predefined port)

    I would like to quickly retrieve the median value from a boost multi_index container with an ordered_unique index, however the index iterators aren't random access (I don't understand why they can't be, though this is consistent with std::set...). Is there a faster/neater way to do this other than incrementing an iterator container.size() / 2 times?

    Currently, for things like background images, our css files have no domain specified. This works both in our development and production environments. background-image: url(/images/bg.png); For performance reasons (cookie-less domain), we'd like to switch this: background-image: url(http://staticimagedomain.com/images/bg.png); Ideally, we don't hard code those, so our development environments can still pull locally. Any thoughts on how to best achieve this?
