  • STAThread and Process output capture in c#

    Hi: This is a strange problem I encountered. I have an window application written in c# to do testing. It has a MDI parent form that is hosting a few children forms. One of the forms launch test cripts by creating processes and capture the scripts output to a text box. Another form open serial port and monitoring the status of the device I am working on(like a shell). If I ran both of them together, the output of the script seems only appear in the text box after the test is done. However, If I don't open the serial port form, the output of the script is captured in real time. Does anyone knows what's causing the problem? I notice the onDataReceived even handler for serial port form has a [STAThread] header to it. Will this cause the serial port thread having higher priority than other processes? Thanks in advance.

    I have two windows application, one is a windows service which create EventWaitHandle and wait for it. Second application is a windows gui which open it by calling EventWaitHandle.OpenExisting() and try to Set the event. But I am getting an exception in OpenExisting.   • RTS AI: where to start?

    I'd like to begin tinkering around with an RTS AI, but I'm having trouble finding a good environment to work with, ie a game that has been already created. I have looked at Spring RTS and Bos Wars, but they don't seem to be conducive to creating simple examples. I am not totally opposed to writing my own game environment, it would just take a long time. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get my feet wet without programming my own game?

    I start an external groovy script via cruisecontrol, which basically works. My problem is that if the groovy script fails I only get the "error string found" in my cruise webapp and email; its even not in the log files. The groovy script writes it output to stdout and to a logfile.   • Far jump in ntdll.dll's internal ZwCreateUserProcess

    I'm trying to understand how the Windows API creates processes so I can create a program to determine where invalid exes fail. I have a program that calls kernel32.CreateProcessA. Following along in OllyDbg, this calls kernel32.CreateProcessInternalA, which calls kernel32.CreateProcessInternalW, which calls ntdll.ZwCreateUserProcess. This function goes: mov eax, 0xAA xor ecx, ecx lea edx, dword ptr [esp+4] call dword ptr fs:[0xC0] add esp, 4 retn 0x2C So I follow the call to fs:[0xC0], which contains a single instruction: jmp far 0x33:0x74BE271E But when I step this instruction, Olly just comes back to ntdll.ZwCreateUserProcess at the add esp, 4 right after the call (which is not at 0x74BE271E). I put a breakpoint at retn 0x2C, and I find that the new process was somehow created during the execution of add esp, 4. So I'm assuming there's some magic involved in the far jump. I tried to change the CS register to 0x33 and EIP to 0x74BE271E instead of actually executing the far jump, but that just gave me an access violation after a few instructions. What's going on here? I need to be able to delve deeper beyond the abstraction of this ZwCreateUserProcess to figure out how exactly Windows creates processes.

    Hi, I have run into a problem where I am removing a component and adding another one. I have set addedEffect and removedEffect for corresponding component. But the addedEffect starts before the removedEffect completes. How can i make them in order ?? I am doing this in actionscript.So, in this case i'm not using state and transition.   • Ibatis startBatch() only works with SqlMapClient's own start and commit transactions, not with Sprin

    Hi, I'm finding that even though I have code wrapped by Spring transactions, and it commits/rolls back when I would expect, in order to make use of JDBC batching when using Ibatis and Spring I need to use explicit SqlMapClient transaction methods. I.e. this does batching as I'd expect: dao.getSqlMapClient().startTransaction(); dao.getSqlMapClient().startBatch(); int i = 0; for (MyObject obj : allObjects) { dao.storeChange(obj); i++; if (i % DB_BATCH_SIZE == 0) { dao.getSqlMapClient().executeBatch(); dao.getSqlMapClient().startBatch(); } } dao.getSqlMapClient().executeBatch(); dao.getSqlMapClient().commitTransaction(); but if I don't have the opening and closing transaction statements, and rely on Spring to manage things (which is what I want to do!), batching just doesn't happen. Given that Spring does otherwise seem to be handling its side of the bargain regarding transaction management, can anyone advise on any known issues here? (Database is MySQL; I'm aware of the issues regarding its JDBC pseudo-batch approach with INSERT statement rewriting, that's definitely not an issue here)

    I am using Java on Windows XP and want to be able to send commands to another program such as telnet. I do not want to simply execute another program. I want to execute it, and then send it a sequence of commands once it's running.   • Red5 Unable to Start Distribution.

    I have installed subclipse, Ant, IvyDE, Red5 Plugin for eclipse, All of the Environmental variables are set and the necessary elements have been added to the path. I am attempting to create a Red5 Distribution by using eclipse, opening Build.xml right clicking dist [default] in the outline window and running as and selecting Ant Builder. Eclipse says that the build is Successful. I first stop the Red5 Service, and then I attempt to run the build I create in eclipse it fails, below are the errors that display in the command prompt. I was hoping someone else might have run into a similar issue before.   • What is the best way to process XML sent to WCF 3.5

    I have to develop a WCF application in 3.5. The input will be sent in the form of XML and the response would be sent in the form of XML as well. A ASP.NET application will be consuming the WCF and sending/receiving data in XML format. Now, as per my understanding, when consuming WCF from an ASP.NET application, we just add a reference to the service, create an object of the service, pack all the necessary data(Data Members in WCF) into the input object (object of the Data Contract) and call the necessary function. It happens that the ASP.NET application is being developed by a separate party and they are hell bent on receiving and sending data in XML format. What I can perceive from this is that the WCF will take the XML string (a single Data Member string type) as input and send out a XML string (again a single Data Member string type) as output. I have created WCF applications earlier where requests and responses were sent out in XML/JSON format when it was consumed by jQuery ajax calls. In those cases, the XML tags were automatically mapped to the different Data Members defined. What approach should I take in this case? Should I just take a string as input (basically the XML string) or is there any way WCF/.NET 3.5 will automatically map the XML tags with the Data Members for requests and responses and I would not need to parse the XML string separately?

  • Create Custom Builds of an Xcode Project

    I am going to build a Mac application written in Obj-C with Xcode. For argument's sake let's say it will have 10 optional features. I need a way to enable or disable those features to create custom builds of the application. These builds would be automated (most likely through the Mac OS X Terminal) so I would need a way to state which of these features are enabled/disabled at build time (a configuration file or CLI arguments would be ideal.) So what is the best way to accomplish this? I'm trying to plan this out before I start coding so that there is proper separation in my code base to allow for these features to come and go. Ideally the custom build would only contain compiled code for the features it should have. In other words I don't want to always compile all the features and condition them out at runtime.

  • IRb: how to start an interactive ruby session with pre-loaded classes

    Hi, As I am going through my journey by adopting the Ruby language, I spend a lot of time inside IRb. It's just fantastic! But, as I am not very aware of it's capabilities, and still a nuby with Ruby, I would like to know the following: How can I 'flush' the session, without restarting IRb (or is this not possible). How can I configure IRb to load a bunch of source files "hello.rb" and "hello_objects.rb", i.e. at startup? I am heavily working in these and it would be nice to know a short hand to load these classes, without manually typing 'load' for each again. Thank you for your answers, comments and feedback!

  • Ruby on Rails - Static page as start page

    Hello! I am developing an app in RoR which has static and dynamic parts. The static portion is placed in the public/ folder of the app. Now if i have an index.html in my public folder then i will not be able to use the routes configured in my routes.rb The default configurations like map.connect /:controller/:action will not be usable if i have an index.html. So i removed the index html. Now i have a static page startpage.html in my public/ folder which has to be the starting page of the app. And the i have links in it for other static/dynamic pages. The RoR app is hosted in apache and i tried to configure the Virtual Host configuration by adding the DirectoryIndex param so that when ever a request comes for the site it will direct it to the startpage.html but still it takes me to the default controller that i have specified in routes.rb with map.root I dont want to add a dummy controller and action and create a view which has the startpage and configure routes.rb to use it as the root. What i am looking to do here is Basically startpage.html should be my first page in the app served as a static page from the public/ folder. This will then have links to other pages and controllers/actions Here i am not able to apache to redirect to the html page instead of passing on the control to rails application. Directory listing is also enabled by using Options Indexes but still no change. Any pointers anyone?

  • Defining where on the page the flowdocument I am printing will 'start' and 'end'

    Dear community. I am almost done with implementing a printing functionality, but I am having trouble getting the last hurdle done with. My problem is, that I am printing some reports, consisting of a header (with information about the person the report is about), a footer (with a page number) and the content in the middle, which is a FlowDocument. Since the flowdocuments can be fairly long, It is very possible that they will span multiple pages. My approach is to make a custom FlowDocumentPaginator which derives from DocumentPaginator. In there i define my header and my footer. However, when I print my page, the flowdocument and my header and footer are on top of eachother.   • How to start / stop internet sharing using apple script

    i dont have a wifi router, so when at home i need to turn my laptop into a wifi source so that both myself and my partner can access the internet. however during the days i work at a coffee shop and require the use of their wifi. i'm running snow leopard and i find it stupidly cumbersome to constantly be turning off and on, first internet sharing and then my wifi. any ideas for a quick n dirty applescript solution? thanks a bajillion!
