• what is the oldest glib version that a qt application can run with

  I am trying to build a standalone qt application (built on ubuntu and deployed on Red Hat 5.3, both 64 bits) after building a qt application that is statically linked to the qt library I tried to run the program on red hat and got an error saying libc.so.6 was not found and that GLIBC_2.9 or GLIBC_2.10 is not installed and needed. I tried doing a yum install glibc but then I get a message saying that glibc is up to date (its version is 2.0) I guees I am going to restart the build process but this time from a red hat installation. What do you sugges I should do in this case. My goal is to build a standalone qt application that only needs to run on red hat 5 (im pretty sure there is also going to be an issue with fontconfig.so but I can simply provide this library directly in the same directory as the app)

  console.log takes a string and replaces tokens with values, for example: console.log("My name is %s, and I like %", 'Dave', 'Javascript') would print: My name is Dave, and I like Javascript I'd like to wrap this inside a method like so: function log(msg, values) { if(config.log == true){ console.log(msg, values); } } The 'values' arg might be a single value or several optional args. How can I accomplish this? If I call it like so: log("My name is %s, and I like %s", "Dave", "Javascript"); I get this (it doesn't recognize "Javascript" as a 3rd argument): My name is Dave, and I like %s If I call this: log("My name is %s, and I like %s", ["Dave", "Javascript"]); then it treats the second arg as an array (it doesn't expand to multiple args). What trick am I missing to get it to expand the optional args?

• fastest (low latency) method for Inter Process Communication between Java and C/C++

  Hello, I have a Java app, connecting through TCP socket to a "server" developed in C/C++. both app & server are running on the same machine, a Solaris box (but we're considering migrating to Linux eventually). type of data exchanged is simple messages (login, login ACK, then client asks for something, server replies). each message is around 300 bytes long. Currently we're using Sockets, and all is OK, however I'm looking for a faster way to exchange data (lower latency), using IPC methods. I've been researching the net and came up with references to the following technologies: - shared memory - pipes - queues but I couldn't find proper analysis of their respective performances, neither how to implement them in both JAVA and C/C++ (so that they can talk to each other), except maybe pipes that I could imagine how to do. can anyone comment about performances & feasibility of each method in this context ? any pointer / link to useful implementation information ? thanks for your help

  Hi All, Im trying to write an extension method that I can use to copy values from one object property to another object of a different type, as long as the property names and types match exactly. I read here that GetType() should unbox the Nullable<T> so it returns T but if I call that on PropertyInfo.PropertyType I get ReflectedMemberInfo and not the type T im looking for.   So if your converting from Void* to Type* or from Type* to Void* should you use: void func(void *p) { Params *params = static_cast<Params*>(p); } or void func(void *p) { Params *params = reinterpret_cast<Params*>(p); } To me static_cast seems the more correct but I've seen both used for the same purpose. Also, does the direction of the conversion matter. i.e. should I still use static_cast for: _beginthread(func,0,static_cast<void*>(params) I have read the other questions on C++ style casting but I'm still not sure what the correct way is for this scenario (I think it is static_cast)

  Is it possible to get a method's return value in the Visual Studio debugger, even if that value isn't assigned to a local variable? For example, I'm debugging the following code: public string Foo(int valueIn) { if (valueIn > 100) return Proxy.Bar(valueIn); else return "Not enough"; } Since I'm not setting any local variables in Foo, and assuming I'm not setting a break point in whatever's calling Foo, is there a way to see what the return value is if I have a breakpoint inside of Foo (or another way)? I don't have much experience with the Autos or Intermediate windows, so I'm not sure if those are even a valid option or not.

• How to subclass a specific jqueryui widget method ?

  Since I updated jQueryUI to 1.8 I found a couple of issues in our implementations and I could fix it myself without waiting for a fix on their end if I could find out how to subclass a specific method of the datepicker widget so I call the parent code and then execute my code. I was reading on $.widget but I just can't wrap my head around how that is suppose to work. I tried something like this: $.widget("ui.datepicker", { _showDatepicker: function(input) { alert('Yo'); $.datepicker.prototype._showDatepicker.apply(this,arguments); alert('Hey!'); } }); And all sorts of other variations and beging to think I just don't understand the 'extendability' of jQueryUI or it just can't be done. • UIAlertView crashing on undocumented method

  Our app has been crashing with a frequency of roughly 1 in 1,500 launches due to a bug that is proving elusive. The relevant portion of the stack trace is included. It's being fired as a callback so I have no reference for where it's occurring in my own code. It looks like what's going on is there is a UIViewAnimationState object that is calling UIAlertView's private method (_popoutAnimationDidStop:finished:). Only problem is, it appears the UIAlertView has been dealloced by this point. I don't do anything weird with alert views. I throw them up, and I wait for user input. They are all shown before being released. Anyone encountered this? At this point, I'm leaning toward it being an Apple bug. • Looking for the most painless non-RDBMS storage method in C#

  I'm writing a simple program that will run entirely client-side. (Desktop programming? do people still do that?) and I need a simple way to store trivial amounts of data in a structured form, but really don't see any need to use a database system. What's more, some of the data needs to be serialized and passed around to different users, like some kind of "file" or perhaps a "document". (has anyone ever done that before?) So, I've looked at using .Net DataSets, LINQ, direct XML manipulation, and they all seem like they would get the job done, but I would like to know before I dive into any of them if there's one method that is generally regarded as easier to code than others. As I said, the amount of data to be stored is trivial, even if one hundred people all used the same machine we're not talking about more than 10 MB, so performance is not as large a concern as is codeability/maintainability.   Suppose I have a big program that consists of hundreds of methods in it. And according to the nature of input the program flow is getting changed. Think I want to make a change to the original flow. And it is big hassle to find call hierarchy/ references and understand the flow. Do I have any solution for this within Eclipse? Or a plugin? As an example, I just need a Log of method names that is in order of time. Then I don't need to worry about the methods that are not relevant with my "given input" Update : Using debug mode in eclipse or adding print messages are not feasible. The program is sooooo big. :)

  I created the following interface: <?php interface Action { public function execute(\requests\Request $request, array $params); } Then I try to make a Mock object of this interface with PHPUnit 3.4, but I get the following error: Fatal error: Declaration of Mock_Action_b389c0b1::execute() must be compatible with that of Action::execute() in D:\Xampp\xampp\php\PEAR\PHPUnit\Framework\TestCase.php(1121) : eval()'d code on line 2 I looked through the stack trace I got from PHPUnit and found that it creates a Mock object that implements the interface Action, but creates the execute method in the following way: <?php public function execute($request, array $params) As you can see, PHPUnit takes over the array type-hint, but forgets about \requests\Request. Which obviously leads to an error. Does anyone knows a workaround for this error? I also tried it without namespaces, but I still get the same error.

After this in the same conditional block i select what filter should be applied by filter object.
