• MKAnnotationView for userLocation pin iPhone

  I have an application that uses MKMapView and at some point in the app I need to remove all the current pins in the map using [mapView removeAnnotations:mapView.annotations] And then I want to show again the current user location mapView.showUserLocation = YES But I can only make it reappear as a regular pin, because the userLocation view class its not public so I cant return views of that type. • Constraining to parent container with MouseDragElementBehavior

  Hi all, I just had a question regarding constraining a control's drag and drop movement to its parent canvas. I tried using the ConstrainToParentBounds property on the MouseDragElementBehavior, however, when this is used the drag must be done really slowly or the movement of the control is choppy or stops altogether. So I am attempting to implement my own boundary constraints. I seem to be running into difficulty though. I am still using the MouseDragElementBehavior but am attempting to supplement it by also handling mouseleftbuttondown, mousemove, mouseleftbuttonup events. I know that these are working (haven't been overridden by the MouseDragElementBehavior) as I have tested them using other methods. • How to delete a file with a space at end of the name and hidden attributes?

  We have a hidden file with a space at the end of the file name. Usually, I take ownership of the file, then use a command line rename with the 8.3 (dir/x) file name. However, rename doesn't acknowledge hidden or system files. Any ideas on how to remove it? The original creator cannot access the file. The system is a Windows 2003 server with NTFS and SMB file sharing (normal windows file sharing).

• How to list all files on all hard drives with output in MS-DOS batch?

  How can I list all files (including system and hidden) on all hard drives (not removable drives)? I think in something like a: dir -a -h *.* /s > file.txt but this is for the specific drive where I'm. How can I do something like that but with C:, D:, etc, but I don't know the DOS's name of the drivers, and i need a .bat to do this (an automatic listing). Implementer can't also know the names of drivers.

• AI navigation around a 2d map - Avoiding obstacles.

  Hey there, I know my question seems pretty vague but I can't think of a better way to put it so I'll start off by explaining what I'm trying to do. I'm currently working on a project whereby I've been given a map and I'm coding a 'Critter' that should be able to navigate it's way around the map, the critter has various other functions but are not relevant to the current question. The whole program and solution is being written in C#. I can control the speed of the critter, and retrieve it's current location on the map by returning it's current X and Y position, I can also set it's direction when it collides with the terrain that blocks it. The only problem I have is that I can't think of a way to intelligently navigate my way around the map, so far I've been basing it around what direction the critter is facing when it collides with the terrain, and this is in no way a good way of moving around the map! I'm not a games programmer, and this is for a software assignment, so I have no clue on AI techniques. All I am after is a push in the right direction on how I could go about getting this critter to find it's way around any map given to me. • CompositeDataBoundControl - databound values overwritten before event is fired due to DummyDataSourc

  I have a custom servercontrol that inherits from CompositeDataBoundControl. I have three templates: one header template, one footer template and one item template. The item template can contain a checkbox that I use to decide if I should delete the item. In the footer and/or header templates I have a button with a CommandName of "DeleteItem". When that button is clicked, I handle the event in OnBubbleEvent: if (cea.CommandName == "DeleteItem") { //loop through the item list and get the selected rows List<int> itemsToDelete = new List<int>(); foreach(Control c in this.Controls){ if (c is ItemData) { ItemData oid = (ItemData)c; CheckBox chkSel = (CheckBox)oid.FindControl("chkSelected"); if (chkSel.Checked) { itemsToDelete.Add(oid.Item.Id); } } } foreach (int id in itemsToDelete) { DeleteItem(id); } } } The problem is that Item is null since the CreateChildControls method already has been run as asp.net needs to recreate the control hierarchy before the event fire. It uses the DummyDataSource and a list of null objects to recreate the control hierarchy: IEnumerator e = dataSource.GetEnumerator(); if (e != null) { while (e.MoveNext()) { ItemData container = new ItemData (e.Current as OrderItem); ITemplate itemTemplate = this.ItemTemplate; if (itemTemplate == null) { itemTemplate = new DefaultItemTemplate(); } itemTemplate.InstantiateIn(container); Controls.Add(container); if (dataBinding) { container.DataBind(); } counter++; } } The problem is this line: ItemData container = new ItemData (e.Current as OrderItem); When the control hierarchy is rebuilt before the event is fired, the e.Current is null, so when I try to find out which item was marked for deletion, I get 0 since the original value has been overwritten. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

• nginx can't see MySQL

  I have a fully working Joomla 2.5.6 install driven by a local MySQL server, but I'd like to test nginx to see if it's a faster web serving experience than Apache. \ PHP 5.4.6 (PHP54w) \ CentOS 6.2 \ Joomla 2.5.6 \ PHP54w-fpm.i386 (FastCGI process manager) \ php -m shows: mysql & mysqli modules loaded Nginx seems to have installed fine via yum, it can process a PHP-info file via FastCGI perfectly OK (http://37.128.190.241/php.php) but when I stop Apache, start nginx instead and visit my site I get: "Database connection error (1): The MySQL adapter 'mysqli' is not available." I've tried adjusting my Joomla configuration.php to use mysql instead of mysqli but I get the same basic error, only this time "Database connection error (1): The MySQL adapter 'mysql' is not available" of course! Can anyone think what the problem might be please? I did try explicitly setting extension = mysqli.so and extension = mysql.so in my php.ini to try and force the issue (despite php -m showing they were both successfully loaded anyway) - no difference. • JFLAP Turing Machine shortcut problem

  In JFLAP (http://jflap.org), there are some shortcuts for Turing machine transitions. One of these shortcuts allows you to transition as long as the current tape symbol isn't the indicated symbol. For example, the transition !g,x;R basically says "Take this transition if the current tape symbol is not g". So far, so good. But the transition I want is !?,~;R which basically says "Move right as long as the current symbol is not the end-of-string (empty cell) symbol". The problem is I cannot figure out how to type in "!?". The JFLAP online documentation (http://www.jflap.org/tutorial/turing/one/index.html#syntax) has this to say: The first shortcut is that there exists the option of using the “!” character to convey the meaning of “any character but this character.” For example, concerning the transition (!a; x, R), if the head encounters any character but an “a”, it will replace the character with an “x” and move right. To write the expression “!?”, just type a “1” in when inputting a command. My question is...how do I actually do what that last sentence is trying to explain to me? Thanks for your help! Robert

• Swapping root directory of a web server

  One of the clients that I maintain requests a website redesign, we do all the work in a subfolder /newsite/ and they intend to make it live this instant. The /newsite/ is made in wordpress and from my understanding WP keeps all the URL's as they were initially created. Would it be easier to just create the new root dir at /newsite/ or move all contents of the root to /oldsite/ and move /newsite/ to the root? Please advise the best route, i.e. mod_rewrite.

Though it works fine usually, when user types the queries really fast some random SqlException is thrown.   I am following the http://wiki.fluentnhibernate.org/Getting%5Fstarted tutorial to create my first NHibernate project with Fluent NHibernate I have 2 tables 1) Account with fields Id AccountHolderName AccountTypeId 2) AccountType with fields Id AccountTypeName Right now the account types can be Savings or Current So the table AccountTypes stores 2 rows 1 - Savings 2 - Current For AccoutType table I have defined enum public enum AccountType { Savings=1, Current=2 } For Account table I define the entity class public class Account { public virtual int Id {get; private set;} public virtual string AccountHolderName {get; set;} public virtual string AccountType {get; set;} } The fluent nhibernate mappings are: public AgencyMap() { Id(o => o.Id); Map(o => o.AccountHolderName); Map(o => o.AccountType); } When I try to run the solution, it gives an exception - InnerException = {"(XmlDocument)(2,4): XML validation error: The element 'class' in namespace 'urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2' has incomplete content. List of possible elements expected: 'meta, subselect, cache, synchronize, comment, tuplizer, id, composite-id' in namespace 'ur... I guess that is because I have not speciofied any mapping for AccountType. The questions are: How can I use AccountType enum instead of a AccountType class? Maybe I am going on wrong track. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks!

• nivo slider and drop down menu doesnt work in IE

• ZeroDowntime deployment of configuration in Tomcat 7

  looking at the things which can be done with the Parallel deployments in Tomcat 7, I wonder how new or changed configuration could be provided to these various versions of the application. In a nutshell - what parallel deployment offers is that pushing a new version of a war file to the webapps dir (with filenames like "App##01.war, "App##02.war") and ever user with a new session will get the newer version, all others stay with the old version. So how could one provide different or additional configuration (properties) to the various versions? Cheers.

  How do you develop references for jobs? I have 6 years of programming experience spanning two jobs, but sadly I don't have a lot of people I can draw on as references. It's been several years since I left my last job, which was at a small company, and I've lost touch with the few people I knew there. I now work at another small company. I think I've gone as far as I can in my current position, and would like to look for greener pastures, but I can't exactly use my current boss as a reference, even though I have a very good repore with him. I'm sure he'd make a great reference down the road, but I'm afraid I'd insult him or jeopardize my current job by mentioning that I'm thinking of leaving and would like him to help me. I've applied to some jobs, and I have gotten several replies like, "Oh, you're exactly what we're looking for. Send us a couple references and we'll schedule an interview. Oh, no references? You must be a psychopath, nevermind." I've tried doing some small freelance work on the side, just so I can have a contact who can vouch for my work, but the competition for even small projects is pretty fierce and I can rarely devote adequate time to freelancing while holding a full time job. In addition, I often encounter a Catch-22 where a lot of freelancing jobs also require references. So how do programmers maintain existing references and develop new ones, especially while holding a full time job?

  the built in command line ftp client in server 2008 does not support passive mode so I've used these commands to allow outbound ftp (it stalls without this) 1) Open port 21 on the firewall netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="FTP (no SSL)" action=allow protocol=TCP dir=in localport=21 2) Activate firewall application filter for FTP (aka Stateful FTP) that will dynamically open ports for data connections netsh advfirewall set global StatefulFtp enable however in server 2008 r2, these commands seem to work, but it does not affect the outbound ftp, it stalls I do not want to use an alt client

• Efficient algorithm for Next button on a MySQL result set

  I have a website that lets people view rows in a table (each row is a picture). There are more than 100,000 rows. You can view different subsets of the rows, and you can view them with different sort orders. While you are viewing one of the rows, you can click the "Next" or "Previous" buttons to go the next/previous row in the list. How would you implement the "Next" and "Previous" features of the website? More specifically, if you have an arbitrary query that returns a list of up to 100,000+ rows, and you know some information about the current row someone is viewing, how do you determine the NEXT row efficiently? Here is the pseudo-code of the solution I came up with when the website was young, and it worked well when there were only 1000 rows, but now that there are 100,000 rows I think it is eating up too much memory. int nextRowId(string query, int currentRowId) { array allRowIds = mysql_query(query); // Takes up a lot of memory! int currentIndex = (index of currentRowId in allRowIds); // Takes time! return allRowIds[currentIndex+1]; } While you are thinking about this problem, remember that the website can store more information about the current row than just its ID (for example, the position of the current row in the result set), and this information can be used as a hint to help determine the ID of the next row. Edit: Sorry for not mentioning this earlier, but this isn't just a static website: rows can often be added to the list, and rows can be re-ordered in the list. (Much rarer, rows can be removed from the list.) I think that I should worry about that kind of thing, but maybe you can convince me otherwise.

  Can I have different .bashrc files loading when logging into different nodes that share the same home dir? This is, I am mostly interested to loading different PATH directories when logging as bash, depending on the different Linux nodes I log into? For example, if I log into bash in machine abc-01, I would like to have a given .bashrc loaded, but when I log into abc-02, that uses the same /home/username directory, I would like to use a different .bashrc. How can I go about doing that?

• How can I diff against a revision of a single file using only the default Git GUI tools?

  I want to view the history of a single file, and then compare a single revision from that history against the current version. On the command line, this is easy: Run: git log -- <filename> Locate the version you want to compare, Run: git diff <commitid> -- <filename> But how can this be done using only the default Git gui tools, git gui and gitk? I know of two methods using gitk, but they're both horribly clunky: Either: Select the New View option from the View menu, Type in the full path to your file into the box labelled Enter files and directories to include, one per line, Locate the version you want to compare by looking at the highlighted items in the top pane, and click on it to select it, Right-click on the current version and select Diff selected - this, Or: Select Tree in the bottom right-hand pane, Locate the file you want to look at, right-click on it, and select Highlight this only, Locate the version you want to compare by looking at the highlighted items in the top pane, and click on it to select it, Right-click on the current version and select Diff selected - this, Click on the file in the bottom right-hand pane to jump to it in the diff output, or scroll manually. Is a better method than this?
