• Delay command execution over sockets

    - by David
    I've been trying to fix the game loop in a real time (tick delay) MUD. I realized using Thread.Sleep would seem clunky when the user spammed commands through their choice of client (Zmud, etc) e.g. east;south;southwest would wait three move ticks and then output everything from the past couple rooms. The game loop basically calls a Flush and Fill method for each socket during each tick (50ms) private void DoLoop() { Stopwatch stopWatch = new Stopwatch(); stopWatch.Start(); while (running) { // for each socket, flush and fill ConnectionMonitor.Update(); stopWatch.Stop(); WaitIfNeeded(stopWatch.ElapsedMilliseconds); stopWatch.Reset(); } } The Fill method fires the command events, but as mentioned before, they currently block using Thread.Sleep. I tried adding a "ready" flag to the state object that attempts to execute the command along with a queue of spammed commands, but it ends up executing one command and queuing up the rest i.e. each subsequent command executes something that got queued up that should've been executed before. I must be missing something about the timer. private readonly Queue<SpammedCommand> queuedCommands = new Queue<SpammedCommand>(); private bool ready = true; private void TryExecuteCommand(string input) { var commandContext = CommandContext.Create(input); var player = Server.Current.Database.Get<Player>(Session.Player.Key); var commandInfo = Server.Current.CommandLookup .FindCommand(commandContext.CommandName, player.IsAdmin); if (commandInfo != null) { if (!ready) { // queue command queuedCommands.Enqueue(new SpammedCommand() { Context = commandContext, Info = commandInfo }); return; } if (queuedCommands.Count > 0) { // queue the incoming command queuedCommands.Enqueue(new SpammedCommand() { Context = commandContext, Info = commandInfo, }); // dequeue and execute var command = queuedCommands.Dequeue(); command.Info.Command.Execute(Session, command.Context); setTimeout(command.Info.TickLength); return; } commandInfo.Command.Execute(Session, commandContext); setTimeout(commandInfo.TickLength); } else { Session.WriteLine("Command not recognized"); } } Finally, setTimeout was supposed to set the execution delay (TickLength) for that command, and makeReady just sets the ready flag on the state object to true. private void setTimeout(TickDelay tickDelay) { ready = false; var t = new System.Timers.Timer() { Interval = (long) tickDelay, AutoReset = false, }; t.Elapsed += makeReady; t.Start(); // fire this in tickDelay ms } // MAKE READYYYYY!!!! private void makeReady(object sender, System.Timers.ElapsedEventArgs e) { ready = true; } Am I missing something about the System.Timers.Timer created in setTimeout? How can I execute (and output) spammed commands per TickLength without using Thread.Sleep?

I realized today that another summer had passed as the first rain in months fell here in northern California redwood country. If its fall that means that Oracle Open World is right around the corner and that tens of thousands of technology professionals will soon converge on San Francisco to fill every hotel and every corner of their minds. As in years past, team UPK will be there in force to answer questions, demo and discuss all things UPK. On Thursday, October 4, from 12:45pm to 1:45pm I along with several of my UPK teammates will be manning the User Productivity Kit Panel - Best Practices to Manage and Deploy Content. This session is an interactive session intended as an opportunity to get your UPK questions answered. To get things started we will answer some questions submitted in advance. If you have any questions or subject areas you’d like addressed during the session, let me know here in the blog and then come to the session and we’ll do our best to answer your questions. Peter Maravelias UPK Product Management

  • Google Chrome Loses ASP.NET Sessions - Need FavIcon

    - by nannette
    I had programmed a brilliant web page in ASP.NET 4.0 and lo and behold, this one page lost its sessions in Google Chrome. I could run it locally in debug and could not reproduce the issues in Chrome. Didn't happen in IE or Firefox, only Chrome on the published server. I finally found in a forum where someone mentioned that Google Chrome looks for favicons and if it doesn't find one it will throw a 302 redirect and kill the session. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8247842/session-data-lost-in-chrome...(read more)

  • How can I get my battery level to display in the notification area (system tray)?

    - by Jon
    I'm trying to use the Awesome window manager with GNOME, i.e. running gnome-session --session=ubuntu on login, and it works great for the most part, except for the fact that the notification area/systray is missing a battery indicator. There's the Network Manager applet (nm-applet), a keyboard icon for switching keyboard layouts, but no battery icon as I would've hoped. I thought the command would be something like gnome-power-manager,

  • Speaking at PASS 2012… Exciting and Scary… As usual…

    I have been selected this year at the PASS Summit 2012 to do two sessions, and they are both going to be interesting. Pre-Con: Relational Database Design Workshop - Abstract Triggers: Born Evil or Misunderstood? - Abstract The pre-con session entitled Relational Database Design Workshop will be (at least) the third time I will have done this pre-con session, and I am pretty excited to take it to a bit larger scale. The one big change that I am forcing this time is a limit on the lecture time. Each...(read more)

  • Load application context problem in Maven managed spring-test TestNg

    - by joejax
    I try to setup a project with spring-test using TestNg in Maven. The code is like: @ContextConfiguration(locations={"test-context.xml"}) public class AppTest extends AbstractTestNGSpringContextTests { @Test public void testApp() { assert true; } } A test-context.xml simply defined a bean: <bean id="app" class="org.sonatype.mavenbook.simple.App"/> I got error for Failed to load ApplicationContext when running mvn test from command line, seems it cannot find the test-context.xml file; however, I can get it run correctly inside Eclipse (with TestNg plugin). So, test-context.xml is under src/test/resources/, how do I indicate this in the pom.xml so that 'mvn test' command will work? Thanks, UPDATE: Thanks for the reply. Cannot load context file error was caused by I moved the file arround in different location since I though the classpath was the problem. • Spring MVC configuration problems

    - by Smek
    i have some problems with configuring Spring MVC. I made a maven multi module project with the following modules: /api /domain /repositories /webapp I like to share the domain and the repositories between the api and the webapp (both web projects). First i want to configure the webapp to use the repositories module so i added the dependencies in the xml file like this: <dependency> <groupId>${project.groupId}</groupId> <artifactId>domain</artifactId> <version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>${project.groupId}</groupId> <artifactId>repositories</artifactId> <version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version> </dependency> And my controller in the webapp module looks like this: package com.mywebapp.webapp; import com.mywebapp.domain.Person; import com.mywebapp.repositories.services.PersonService; import org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired; import org.springframework.context.annotation.ComponentScan; import org.springframework.context.annotation.Configuration; import org.springframework.stereotype.Controller; import org.springframework.ui.ModelMap; import org.springframework.web.bind.annotation.RequestMapping; import org.springframework.web.bind.annotation.RequestMethod; @Controller @RequestMapping("/") @Configuration @ComponentScan("com.mywebapp.repositories") public class PersonController { @Autowired PersonService personservice; @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.GET) public String printWelcome(ModelMap model) { Person p = new Person(); p.age = 23; p.firstName = "John"; p.lastName = "Doe"; personservice.createNewPerson(p); model.addAttribute("message", "Hello world!"); return "index"; } } In my webapp module i try to load configuration files in my web.xml like this: <context-param> <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name> <param-value>classpath:/META-INF/persistence-context.xml, classpath:/META-INF/service-context.xml</param-value> </context-param> These files cannot be found so i get the following error: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanDefinitionStoreException: IOException parsing XML document from class path resource [META-INF/persistence-context.xml]; nested exception is java.io.FileNotFoundException: class path resource [META-INF/persistence-context.xml] cannot be opened because it does not exist These files are in the repositories module so my first question is how can i make Spring to find these files? I also have trouble Autowiring the PersonService to my Controller class did i forget to configure something in my XML? Here is the error message: [INFO] [talledLocalContainer] SEVERE: Exception sending context initialized event to listener instance of class org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener [INFO] [talledLocalContainer] org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'personServiceImpl': Injection of autowired dependencies failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Could not autowire field: private com.mywebapp.repositories.repository.PersonRepository com.mywebapp.repositories.services.PersonServiceImpl.personRepository; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No matching bean of type [com.mywebapp.repositories.repository.PersonRepository] found for dependency: expected at least 1 bean which qualifies as autowire candidate for this dependency. • CDI @Conversation not propagated with handleNavigation()

    - by Thomas Kernstock
    I have a problem with the propagation of a long runnig conversation when I redirect the view by the handleNavigation() method. Here is my test code: I have a conversationscoped bean and two views: conversationStart.xhtml is called in Browser with URL http://localhost/tests/conversationStart.jsf?paramTestId=ParameterInUrl
<f:metadata> <f:viewParam name="paramTestId" value="#{conversationTest.fieldTestId}" /> <f:event type="preRenderView" listener="#{conversationTest.preRenderView}" /> </f:metadata> <h:head>
Conversation Test
</h:head> <h:body> <h:form>
Startpage Test Conversation with Redirect
<h:messages /> <h:outputText value="Testparameter: #{conversationTest.fieldTestId}"/>
<h:outputText value="Logged In: #{conversationTest.loggedIn}"/>
<h:outputText value="Conversation ID: #{conversationTest.convID}"/>
<h:outputText value="Conversation Transient: #{conversationTest.convTransient}"/>
<h:commandButton action="#{conversationTest.startLogin}" value="Login ->" rendered="#{conversationTest.loggedIn==false}" />
<h:commandLink action="/tests/conversationLogin.xhtml?faces-redirect=true" value="Login ->" rendered="#{conversationTest.loggedIn==false}" />
</h:form> <h:link outcome="/tests/conversationLogin.xhtml" value="Login Link" rendered="#{conversationTest.loggedIn==false}"> <f:param name="cid" value="#{conversationTest.convID}"></f:param> </h:link> </h:body>
The Parameter is written to the beanfield and displayed in the view correctly. There are 3 different possibilites to navigate to the next View. All 3 work fine. The beanfield shows up the next view (conversationLogin.xhtml) too:
<h:head>
Conversation Test
</h:head> <h:body> <h:form>
Loginpage Test Conversation with Redirect
<h:messages /> <h:outputText value="Testparameter: #{conversationTest.fieldTestId}"/>
<h:outputText value="Logged In: #{conversationTest.loggedIn}"/>
<h:outputText value="Conversation ID: #{conversationTest.convID}"/>
<h:outputText value="Conversation Transient: #{conversationTest.convTransient}"/>
<h:commandButton action="#{conversationTest.login}" value="Login And Return" />
</h:form> </h:body>
When I return to the Startpage by clicking the button the conversation bean still contains all values. So everything is fine. Here is the bean: package test; import java.io.Serializable; import javax.annotation.PostConstruct; import javax.enterprise.context.Conversation; import javax.enterprise.context.ConversationScoped; import javax.faces.event.ComponentSystemEvent; import javax.inject.Inject; import javax.inject.Named; @Named @ConversationScoped public class ConversationTest implements Serializable{ private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; final String CONVERSATION_NAME="longRun"; @Inject Conversation conversation; private boolean loggedIn; private String fieldTestId; @PostConstruct public void init(){ if(conversation.isTransient()){ conversation.begin(CONVERSATION_NAME); System.out.println("New Conversation started"); } loggedIn=false; } public String getConvID(){ return conversation.getId(); } public boolean isConvTransient(){ return conversation.isTransient(); } public boolean getLoggedIn(){ return loggedIn; } public String startLogin(){ return "/tests/conversationLogin.xhtml?faces-redirect=true"; } public String login(){ loggedIn=true; return "/tests/conversationStart.xhtml?faces-redirect=true"; } public void preRenderView(ComponentSystemEvent ev) { // if(!loggedIn){ // System.out.println("Will redirect to Login"); // FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(); // ctx.getApplication().getNavigationHandler().handleNavigation(ctx, null, "/tests/conversationLogin.xhtml?faces-redirect=true"); // ctx.renderResponse(); // } } public void setFieldTestId(String fieldTestId) { System.out.println("fieldTestID was set to: "+fieldTestId); this.fieldTestId = fieldTestId; } public String getFieldTestId() { return fieldTestId; } } Now comes the problem !! As soon as I try to redirect the page in the preRenderView method of the bean (just uncomment the code in the method), using handleNavigation() the bean is created again in the next view instead of using the allready created instance. Although the cid parameter is propagated to the next view ! Has anybody an idea what's wrong ? best regards Thomas

  • Standards Corner: OAuth WG Client Registration Problem

    - by Tanu Sood
    Phil Hunt is an active member of multiple industry standards groups and committees (see brief bio at the end of the post) and has spearheaded discussions, creation and ratifications of Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii- mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi- mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} industry standards including the Kantara Identity Governance Framework, among others. Being an active voice in the industry standards development world, we have invited him to share his discussions, thoughts, news & updates, and discuss use cases, implementation success stories (and even failures) around industry standards on this monthly column. Author: Phil Hunt This afternoon, the OAuth Working Group will meet at IETF88 in Vancouver to discuss some important topics important to the maturation of OAuth. One of them is the OAuth client registration problem.OAuth (RFC6749) was initially developed with a simple deployment model where there is only monopoly or singleton cloud instance of a web API (e.g. there is one Facebook, one Google, on LinkedIn, and so on). When the API publisher and API deployer are the same monolithic entity, it easy for developers to contact the provider and register their app to obtain a client_id and credential.But what happens when the API is for an open source project where there may be 1000s of deployed copies of the API (e.g. such as wordpress). In these cases, the authors of the API are not the people running the API. In these scenarios, how does the developer obtain a client_id? An example of an "open deployed" API is OpenID Connect. Connect defines an OAuth protected resource API that can provide personal information about an authenticated user -- in effect creating a potentially common API for potential identity providers like Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, or Oracle. In Oracle's case, Fusion applications will soon have RESTful APIs that are deployed in many different ways in many different environments. How will developers write apps that can work against an openly deployed API with whom the developer can have no prior relationship?At present, the OAuth Working Group has two proposals two consider: Dynamic RegistrationDynamic Registration was originally developed for OpenID Connect and UMA. It defines a RESTful API in which a prospective client application with no client_id creates a new client registration record with a service provider and is issued a client_id and credential along with a registration token that can be used to update registration over time.As proof of success, the OIDC community has done substantial implementation of this spec and feels committed to its use. Why not approve?Well, the answer is that some of us had some concerns, namely: Recognizing instances of software - dynamic registration treats all clients as unique. It has no defined way to recognize that multiple copies of the same client are being registered other then assuming if the registration parameters are similar it might be the same client. Versioning and Policy Approval of open APIs and clients - many service providers have to worry about change management. They expect to have approval cycles that approve versions of server and client software for use in their environment. In some cases approval might be wide open, but in many cases, approval might be down to the specific class of software and version. Registration updates - when does a client actually need to update its registration? Shouldn't it be never? Is there some characteristic of deployed code that would cause it to change? Options lead to complexity - because each client is treated as unique, it becomes unclear how the clients and servers will agree on what credentials forms are acceptable and what OAuth features are allowed and disallowed. Yet the reality is, developers will write their application to work in a limited number of ways. They can't implement all the permutations and combinations that potential service providers might choose. Stateful registration - if the primary motivation for registration is to obtain a client_id and credential, why can't this be done in a stateless fashion using assertions? Denial of service - With so much stateful registration and the need for multiple tokens to be issued, will this not lead to a denial of service attack / risk of resource depletion? At the very least, because of the information gathered, it would difficult for service providers to clean up "failed" registrations and determine active from inactive or false clients. There has yet to be much wide-scale "production" use of dynamic registration other than in small closed communities. Client Association A second proposal, Client Association, has been put forward by Tony Nadalin of Microsoft and myself. We took at look at existing use patterns to come up with a new proposal. At the Berlin meeting, we considered how WS-STS systems work. More recently, I took a review of how mobile messaging clients work. I looked at how Apple, Google, and Microsoft each handle registration with APNS, GCM, and WNS, and a similar pattern emerges. This pattern is to use an existing credential (mutual TLS auth), or client bearer assertion and swap for a device specific bearer assertion.In the client association proposal, the developer's registration with the API publisher is handled by having the developer register with an API publisher (as opposed to the party deploying the API) and obtaining a software "statement". Or, if there is no "publisher" that can sign a statement, the developer may include their own self-asserted software statement.A software statement is a special type of assertion that serves to lock application registration profile information in a signed assertion. The statement is included with the client application and can then be used by the client to swap for an instance specific client assertion as defined by section 4.2 of the OAuth Assertion draft and profiled in the Client Association draft. The software statement provides a way for service provider to recognize and configure policy to approve classes of software clients, and simplifies the actual registration to a simple assertion swap. Because the registration is an assertion swap, registration is no longer "stateful" - meaning the service provider does not need to store any information to support the client (unless it wants to). Has this been implemented yet? Not directly. We've only delivered draft 00 as an alternate way of solving the problem using well-known patterns whose security characteristics and scale characteristics are well understood. Dynamic Take II At roughly the same time that Client Association and Software Statement were published, the authors of Dynamic Registration published a "split" version of the Dynamic Registration (draft-richer-oauth-dyn-reg-core and draft-richer-oauth-dyn-reg-management). While some of the concerns above are addressed, some differences remain. Registration is now a simple POST request. However it defines a new method for issuing client tokens where as Client Association uses RFC6749's existing extension point. The concern here is whether future client access token formats would be addressed properly. Finally, Dyn-reg-core does not yet support software statements. Conclusion The WG has some interesting discussion to bring this back to a single set of specifications. Dynamic Registration has significant implementation, but Client Association could be a much improved way to simplify implementation of the overall OpenID Connect specification and improve adoption. In fairness, the existing editors have already come a long way. Yet there are those with significant investment in the current draft. There are many that have expressed they don't care. They just want a standard. There is lots of pressure on the working group to reach consensus quickly.And that folks is how the sausage is made.Note: John Bradley and Justin Richer recently published draft-bradley-stateless-oauth-client-00 which on first look are getting closer. Some of the details seem less well defined, but the same could be said of client-assoc and software-statement. I hope we can merge these specs this week. • Using Oracle Proxy Authentication with JPA (eclipselink-Style)

    - by olaf.heimburger
    Security is a very intriguing topic. You will find it everywhere and you need to implement it everywhere. Yes, you need. Unfortunately, one can easily forget it while implementing the last mile. The Last Mile In a multi-tier application it is a common practice to use connection pools between the business layer and the database layer. Connection pools are quite useful to speed database connection creation and to split the load. Another very common practice is to use a specific, often called technical, user to connect to the database. This user has authentication and authorization rules that apply to all application users. Imagine you've put every effort to define roles for different types of users that use your application. These roles are necessary to differentiate between normal users, premium users, and administrators (I bet you will find or already have more roles in your application). While these user roles are pretty well used within your application, once the flow of execution enters the database everything is gone. Each and every user just has one role and is the same database user. Issues? What Issues? As long as things go well, this is not a real issue. However, things do not go well all the time. Once your application becomes famous performance decreases in certain situations or, more importantly, current and upcoming regulations and laws require that your application must be able to apply different security measures on a per user role basis at every stage of your application. If you only have a bunch of users with the same name and role you are not able to find the application usage profile that causes the performance issue, or which user has accessed data that he/she is not allowed to. Another thread to your role concept is that databases tend to be used by different applications and tools. These tools can be developer tools like SQL*Plus, SQL Developer, etc. or end user applications like BI Publisher, Oracle Forms and so on. These tools have no idea of your applications role concept and access the database the way they think is appropriate. A big oversight for your perfect role model and a big nightmare for your Chief Security Officer. Speaking of the CSO, brings up another issue: Password management. Once your technical user account is compromised, every user is able to do things that he/she is not expected to do from the design of your application. Counter Measures In the Oracle world a common counter measure is to use Virtual Private Database (VPD). This restricts the values a database user can see to the allowed minimum. However, it doesn't help in regard of a connection pool user, because this one is still not the real user. Oracle Proxy Authentication Another feature of the Oracle database is Proxy Authentication. First introduced with version 9i it is a quite useful feature for nearly every situation. The main idea behind Proxy Authentication is, to create a crippled database user who has only connect rights. Even if this user is compromised the risks are well understood and fairly limited. This user can be used in every situation in which you need to connect to the database, no matter which tool or application (see above) you use.The proxy user is perfect for multi-tier connection pools. CREATE USER app_user IDENTIFIED BY abcd1234; GRANT CREATE SESSION TO app_user; But what if you need to access real data? Well, this is the primary use case, isn't it? Now is the time to bring the application's role concept into play. You define database roles that define the grants for your identified user groups. Once you have these groups you grant access through the proxy user with the application role to the specific user. CREATE ROLE app_role_a; GRANT app_role_a TO scott; ALTER USER scott GRANT CONNECT THROUGH app_user WITH ROLE app_role_a; Now, hr has permission to connect to the database through the proxy user. Through the role you can restrict the hr's rights the are needed for the application only. If hr connects to the database directly all assigned role and permissions apply. Testing the Setup To test the setup you can use SQL*Plus and connect to your database: $ sqlplus app_user[hr]/abcd1234 Java Persistence API The Java Persistence API (JPA) is a fairly easy means to build applications that retrieve data from the database and put it into Java objects. You use plain old Java objects (POJOs) and mixin some Java annotations that define how the attributes of the object are used for storing data from the database into the Java object. Here is a sample for objects from the HR sample schema EMPLOYEES table. When using Java annotations you only specify what can not be deduced from the code. If your Java class name is Employee but the table name is EMPLOYEES, you need to specify the table name, otherwise it will fail. package demo.proxy.ejb; import java.io.Serializable; import java.sql.Timestamp; import java.util.List; import javax.persistence.Column; import javax.persistence.Entity; import javax.persistence.Id; import javax.persistence.JoinColumn; import javax.persistence.ManyToOne; import javax.persistence.NamedQueries; import javax.persistence.NamedQuery; import javax.persistence.OneToMany; import javax.persistence.Table; @Entity @NamedQueries({ @NamedQuery(name = "Employee.findAll", query = "select o from Employee o") }) @Table(name = "EMPLOYEES") public class Employee implements Serializable { @Column(name="COMMISSION_PCT") private Double commissionPct; @Column(name="DEPARTMENT_ID") private Long departmentId; @Column(nullable = false, unique = true, length = 25) private String email; @Id @Column(name="EMPLOYEE_ID", nullable = false) private Long employeeId; @Column(name="FIRST_NAME", length = 20) private String firstName; @Column(name="HIRE_DATE", nullable = false) private Timestamp hireDate; @Column(name="JOB_ID", nullable = false, length = 10) private String jobId; @Column(name="LAST_NAME", nullable = false, length = 25) private String lastName; @Column(name="PHONE_NUMBER", length = 20) private String phoneNumber; private Double salary; @ManyToOne @JoinColumn(name = "MANAGER_ID") private Employee employee; @OneToMany(mappedBy = "employee") private List employeeList; public Employee() { } public Employee(Double commissionPct, Long departmentId, String email, Long employeeId, String firstName, Timestamp hireDate, String jobId, String lastName, Employee employee, String phoneNumber, Double salary) { this.commissionPct = commissionPct; this.departmentId = departmentId; this.email = email; this.employeeId = employeeId; this.firstName = firstName; this.hireDate = hireDate; this.jobId = jobId; this.lastName = lastName; this.employee = employee; this.phoneNumber = phoneNumber; this.salary = salary; } public Double getCommissionPct() { return commissionPct; } public void setCommissionPct(Double commissionPct) { this.commissionPct = commissionPct; } public Long getDepartmentId() { return departmentId; } public void setDepartmentId(Long departmentId) { this.departmentId = departmentId; } public String getEmail() { return email; } public void setEmail(String email) { this.email = email; } public Long getEmployeeId() { return employeeId; } public void setEmployeeId(Long employeeId) { this.employeeId = employeeId; } public String getFirstName() { return firstName; } public void setFirstName(String firstName) { this.firstName = firstName; } public Timestamp getHireDate() { return hireDate; } public void setHireDate(Timestamp hireDate) { this.hireDate = hireDate; } public String getJobId() { return jobId; } public void setJobId(String jobId) { this.jobId = jobId; } public String getLastName() { return lastName; } public void setLastName(String lastName) { this.lastName = lastName; } public String getPhoneNumber() { return phoneNumber; } public void setPhoneNumber(String phoneNumber) { this.phoneNumber = phoneNumber; } public Double getSalary() { return salary; } public void setSalary(Double salary) { this.salary = salary; } public Employee getEmployee() { return employee; } public void setEmployee(Employee employee) { this.employee = employee; } public List getEmployeeList() { return employeeList; } public void setEmployeeList(List employeeList) { this.employeeList = employeeList; } public Employee addEmployee(Employee employee) { getEmployeeList().add(employee); employee.setEmployee(this); return employee; } public Employee removeEmployee(Employee employee) { getEmployeeList().remove(employee); employee.setEmployee(null); return employee; } } JPA could be used in standalone applications and Java EE containers. In both worlds you normally create a Facade to retrieve or store the values of the Entities to or from the database. The Facade does this via an EntityManager which will be injected by the Java EE container. Here is sample Facade Session Bean for a Java EE container. package demo.proxy.ejb; import java.util.HashMap; import java.util.List; import javax.ejb.Local; import javax.ejb.Remote; import javax.ejb.Stateless; import javax.persistence.EntityManager; import javax.persistence.PersistenceContext; import javax.persistence.Query; import javax.interceptor.AroundInvoke; import javax.interceptor.InvocationContext; import oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection; import org.eclipse.persistence.config.EntityManagerProperties; import org.eclipse.persistence.internal.jpa.EntityManagerImpl; @Stateless(name = "DataFacade", mappedName = "ProxyUser-TestEJB-DataFacade") @Remote @Local public class DataFacadeBean implements DataFacade, DataFacadeLocal { @PersistenceContext(unitName = "TestEJB") private EntityManager em; private String username; public Object queryByRange(String jpqlStmt, int firstResult, int maxResults) { // setSessionUser(); Query query = em.createQuery(jpqlStmt); if (firstResult 0) { query = query.setFirstResult(firstResult); } if (maxResults 0) { query = query.setMaxResults(maxResults); } return query.getResultList(); } public Employee persistEmployee(Employee employee) { // setSessionUser(); em.persist(employee); return employee; } public Employee mergeEmployee(Employee employee) { // setSessionUser(); return em.merge(employee); } public void removeEmployee(Employee employee) { // setSessionUser(); employee = em.find(Employee.class, employee.getEmployeeId()); em.remove(employee); } /** select o from Employee o */ public List getEmployeeFindAll() { Query q = em.createNamedQuery("Employee.findAll"); return q.getResultList(); } Putting Both Together To use Proxy Authentication with JPA and within a Java EE container you have to take care of the additional requirements: Use an OCI JDBC driver Provide the user name that connects through the proxy user Use an OCI JDBC driver To use the OCI JDBC driver you need to set up your JDBC data source file to use the correct JDBC URL. hr jdbc:oracle:oci8:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=localhost)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=XE))) oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver user app_user 62C32F70E98297522AD97E15439FAC0E SQL SELECT 1 FROM DUAL jdbc/hrDS Application Additionally you need to make sure that the version of the shared libraries of the OCI driver match the version of the JDBC driver in your Java EE container or Java application and are within your PATH (on Windows) or LD_LIBRARY_PATH (on most Unix-based systems). Installing the Oracle Database Instance Client software works perfectly. Provide the user name that connects through the proxy user This part needs some modification of your application software and session facade. Session Facade Changes In the Session Facade we must ensure that every call that goes through the EntityManager must be prepared correctly and uniquely assigned to this session. The second is really important, as the EntityManager works with a connection pool and can not guarantee that we set the proxy user on the connection that will be used for the database activities. To avoid changing every method call of the Session Facade we provide a method to set the username of the user that connects through the proxy user. This method needs to be called by the Facade client bfore doing anything else. public void setUsername(String name) { username = name; } Next we provide a means to instruct the TopLink EntityManager Delegate to use Oracle Proxy Authentication. (I love small helper methods to hide the nitty-gritty details and avoid repeating myself.) private void setSessionUser() { setSessionUser(username); } private void setSessionUser(String user) { if (user != null && !user.isEmpty()) { EntityManagerImpl emDelegate = ((EntityManagerImpl)em.getDelegate()); emDelegate.setProperty(EntityManagerProperties.ORACLE_PROXY_TYPE, OracleConnection.PROXYTYPE_USER_NAME); emDelegate.setProperty(OracleConnection.PROXY_USER_NAME, user); emDelegate.setProperty(EntityManagerProperties.EXCLUSIVE_CONNECTION_MODE, "Always"); } } The final step is use the EJB 3.0 AroundInvoke interceptor. This interceptor will be called around every method invocation. We therefore check whether the Facade methods will be called or not. If so, we set the user for proxy authentication and the normal method flow continues. @AroundInvoke public Object proxyInterceptor(InvocationContext invocationCtx) throws Exception { if (invocationCtx.getTarget() instanceof DataFacadeBean) { setSessionUser(); } return invocationCtx.proceed(); } Benefits Using Oracle Proxy Authentification has a number of additional benefits appart from implementing the role model of your application: Fine grained access control for temporary users of the account, without compromising the original password. Enabling database auditing and logging. Better identification of performance bottlenecks. • NoSQL with MongoDB, NoRM and ASP.NET MVC - Part 2

    - by shiju
     In my last post, I have given an introduction to MongoDB and NoRM using an ASP.NET MVC demo app. I have updated the demo ASP.NET MVC app and a created a new drop at codeplex. You can download the demo at http://mongomvc.codeplex.com/In my last post, we have discussed to doing basic CRUD operations against a simple domain entity. In this post, let’s discuss on domain entity with deep object graph.The below is our domain entities public class Category { [MongoIdentifier] public ObjectId Id { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "Name Required")] [StringLength(25, ErrorMessage = "Must be less than 25 characters")] public string Name { get; set;} public string Description { get; set; } public List<Expense> Expenses { get; set; } public Category() { Expenses = new List<Expense>(); } } public class Expense { [MongoIdentifier] public ObjectId Id { get; set; } public Category Category { get; set; } public string Transaction { get; set; } public DateTime Date { get; set; } public double Amount { get; set; } } We have two domain entities - Category and Expense. A single category contains a list of expense transactions and every expense transaction should have a Category.The MongoSession class internal class MongoSession : IDisposable { private readonly MongoQueryProvider provider; public MongoSession() { this.provider = new MongoQueryProvider("Expense"); } public IQueryable
Categories { get { return new MongoQuery
(this.provider); }     }     public IQueryable<Expense> Expenses     {         get { return new MongoQuery<Expense>(this.provider); }     }     public MongoQueryProvider Provider     {         get { return this.provider; }     }       public void Add<T>(T item) where T : class, new()     {         this.provider.DB.GetCollection<T>().Insert(item);     }       public void Dispose()     {         this.provider.Server.Dispose();     }     public void Delete<T>(T item) where T : class, new()     {         this.provider.DB.GetCollection<T>().Delete(item);     }       public void Drop<T>()     {         this.provider.DB.DropCollection(typeof(T).Name);     }       public void Save<T>(T item) where T : class,new()     {         this.provider.DB.GetCollection<T>().Save(item);                }     }     ASP.NET MVC view model  for Expense transaction  public class ExpenseViewModel {     public ObjectId Id { get; set; }       public ObjectId CategoryId { get; set; }       [Required(ErrorMessage = "Transaction Required")]            public string Transaction { get; set; }       [Required(ErrorMessage = "Date Required")]            public DateTime Date { get; set; }       [Required(ErrorMessage = "Amount Required")]        public double Amount { get; set; }       public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> Category { get; set; } }  Let's create action method for Insert and Update a expense transaction   [HttpPost] public ActionResult Save(ExpenseViewModel expenseViewModel) {     try     {         if (!ModelState.IsValid)         {             using (var session = new MongoSession())             {                 var categories = session.Categories.AsEnumerable
(); expenseViewModel.Category = categories.ToSelectListItems(expenseViewModel.CategoryId); } return View("Save", expenseViewModel); } var expense=new Expense(); ModelCopier.CopyModel(expenseViewModel, expense); using (var session = new MongoSession()) { ObjectId Id = expenseViewModel.CategoryId; var category = session.Categories .Where(c => c.Id ==Id ) .FirstOrDefault(); expense.Category = category; session.Save(expense); } return RedirectToAction("Index"); } catch { return View(); } } Query with Expenses using (var session = new MongoSession()) { var expenses = session.Expenses. Where(exp => exp.Date >= StartDate && exp.Date <= EndDate) .AsEnumerable<Expense>(); } We are doing a LINQ query expression with a Date filter. We can easily work with MongoDB using NoRM driver and can managing object graph of domain entities are pretty cool. Download the Source - You can download the source code form http://mongomvc.codeplex.com

  • ADF Mobile - Update through Web Service (with ADF Business Components)

    - by Shay Shmeltzer
    In my previous blog entry I went over the basics of exposing ADF Business Components through service interfaces, and developing a simple ADF Mobile application that access and fetches data from those services. In this entry we'll dive a bit deeper  and address an update scenario through these web service interfaces. You can see the full demo video at the end of the post. In the first steps I show how to add an explicit method execution to fetch a specific record we want to update on the second page of a flow. For an update you'll be invoking a service method and passing the record you want to update as a parameter. As in many other Web services scenarios, we need to provide a complete object of specific type to the method. The ADF Web service data control helps you here by offering an object of this type that you can drag and drop into your page. The next step is to make sure to fill that object with the values you want to update. In the demo we do this through  coding in a backing bean that shows how to use the AdfmfJavaUtilities utility. The code gets the value from one field, gets a pointer to the parallel update field, and then copy from one to the other. At the end of the bean we manually execute the call to the update method on the Web service. Here is the demo: &amp;amp;<span id="XinhaEditingPostion"></span>lt;span id=&amp;amp;quot;XinhaEditingPostion&amp;amp;quot;&amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;lt;/span&amp;amp;gt; Here is the code used in the backing bean in the demo above. package a.mobile;import oracle.adfmf.amx.event.ActionEvent;import javax.el.MethodExpression;import javax.el.ValueExpression;import oracle.adfmf.amx.event.ActionEvent;import oracle.adfmf.framework.api.AdfmfJavaUtilities;import oracle.adfmf.framework.model.AdfELContext;public class backing {    public backing() {    }    public void copyAndUpdate(ActionEvent actionEvent) {        // Add event code here...        AdfELContext adfELContext = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getAdfELContext();        ValueExpression ve = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.DepartmentName.inputValue}", String.class);        ValueExpression ve3 =            AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.DepartmentName1.inputValue}", String.class);        ve3.setValue(adfELContext, ve.getValue(adfELContext));        ve = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.DepartmentId.inputValue}", int.class);        ve3 = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.DepartmentId1.inputValue}", int.class);        ve3.setValue(adfELContext, ve.getValue(adfELContext));        ve = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.ManagerId.inputValue}", int.class);        ve3 = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.ManagerId1.inputValue}", int.class);        ve3.setValue(adfELContext, ve.getValue(adfELContext));        ve = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.LocationId.inputValue}", int.class);        ve3 = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.LocationId1.inputValue}", int.class);        ve3.setValue(adfELContext, ve.getValue(adfELContext));        MethodExpression me = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getMethodExpression("#{bindings.updateDepartmentsView1.execute}", Object.class, new Class[] {});         me.invoke(adfELContext, new Object[] {});        }    }

  • SuperMicro BMC on OpenSuSE Linux --cannot access from LAN

    - by Kendall
    Hi, I have an (old) SMC-001 IPMI device on an (old) X6DVL-EG2 motherboard. My problem is that I cannot access the BMC from LAN. I'm also getting some interesting output from ipmitool. First, the setup. I enable Console Redirection in the BIOS, turn BIOS Redirection after POSt to "disabled". I then modprobe'ed for ipmi_msghandler, ipmi_devintf and ipmi_si. I then found ipmi0 under /dev. So far so good. Since I want console redirection over serial, I modified /boot/grub/menu.lst: http://pastebin.com/YYJmhusQ I then modified "/etc/inittab" as follows: S1:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty -L 19200 ttyS1 ansi Networking I set as following, using "ipmitool" ipaddr: 192.168.3.164 netmask: 255.255.255.0 defgw: 192.168.3.1 The above are correct for my environment. To test it I do: ipmitool -I open chassis power off which responds by powering off the machine. When I to access from another computer on the network, however, I get an error message: host# ipmitool -I lanplus -H 192.168.10.164 -U Admin -a chassis power status Error: Unable to establish LAN session Unable to get Chassis Power Status "Admin" seems to be a valid user name: host# ipmitool -I open user list 1 2 Admin true false true USER The interesting output from ipmitool I initially mentioned: host # ipmitool -I open lan set 1 access on Set Channel Access for channel 1 failed: Request data field length limit exceeded Also, newload4:/home/gjones # ipmitool channel info 1 Channel 0x1 info: Channel Medium Type : 802.3 LAN Channel Protocol Type : IPMB-1.0 Session Support : session-less Active Session Count : 0 Protocol Vendor ID : 7154 Get Channel Access (volatile) failed: Request data field length limit exceeded The output of "ipmitool -I open lan print 1" is here: http://pastebin.com/UZyL6yyE Any help/suggestions is greatly appreciated; I've been working with this thing for a few hours now with no success.

  • Windows 2008 RemoteAPP client disconnects within a matter of minutes

    - by Jeroen Wilke
    I'm having an odd problem with Windows 2008 TS, and remote applications specifically. The situation is as follows: TS idle timeout is disabled via GPO TS terminating disconnected sessions after 1hr (via GPO) My users can log on to the Terminal server, and get a full desktop, OR via rdp files that give access to a few remote applications. When a user connects to a full desktop, everything is fine and dandy, they will remain logged on indefinately, and when they disconnect the session is terminated after an hour. however, when a user connects using a remote application link, the client seems to disconnect after only a few minutes of inactivity, when you click the window, the session reconnects. EventID's on TS server: 4779: This event is generated when a user disconnects from an existing Terminal Services session, or when a user switches away from an existing destop using Fast User Switching. 4778 : This event is generated when a user reconnects to an existing Terminal Services session, or when a user switches to an existing desktop using Fast User Switching users are connecting directly to 3389, not using a TS-gateway at the moment. This behavior is consistent on different clients that we have, Full desktop is fine, RemoteAPP constantly disconnects. The .rdp file used doesn't list any interesting parameters, aside from what application to launch, and where to find it. Can someone explain to me how there can be a difference in behaviour between full desktop, and remoteapp ? since essentially they use the exact same client ? Regards Jeroen

  • ssh keys rejected each day

    - by EddyR
    I've had OpenSSH server running on my debian server for a couple weeks and all of a sudden now when I go to login the next day it rejects my ssh key and I have to manually add a new one each time. Not only that but I have the "tunneling with clear-text passwords" option enabled and the non-root (login with root is disabled) account for that is rejected too. I'm at a loss why this is happening and I can't find any ssh options that would explain it. --update-- I just changed debug level to DEBUG.
