  I have an array of a certain type. Now I want to find an entry where a certain condition is met. What is the preferred way to do this with the restriction that I don't want to create a temporary object to find, but instead I only want to give a search condition.   Hi folks! I'm wondering if it is possible to use assigned variables as identifier in a json array. When I tried this, I was getting some unexpected results: (Code is simplified, parameters are passed in a different way) var parameter = 'animal'; var value = 'pony'; Util.urlAppendParameters (url, {parameter : value}); Util.urlAppendParameters = function(url, parameters) { for (var x in parameters) { alert(x); } } Now the alert popup says: 'parameter' instead of 'animal'. I know I could use a different method (creating an array and assigning every parameter on a new line), but I want to keep my code compact. So my question is: Is it possible to use a variable as an identifier in the json array, and if so, could you please tell me how? Thanks in advance!

• Grouping data in an NSMutable array

  Hi guys, I have an array i load with lots of data from an xml file. I am displaying this on a tableview and then when you click on say an author it goes through to display all their books. At the minute my NSMutableArray has an entry for every each book with title, author and so on. So in the table of authors it display the authors name as many times as they have books. I want to group the array data so the table only displays each author once but the author contains an array of his books. Seems simple but I can't find a group method for arrays. thanks peeps

  Hello, I have an array set inside a velocity template that contains some paths. The idea is to put a few "default" .js/.css files that 90% of the pages will use in this array. However, the other pages will still have to be able to add/delete values from this array, in case there are no linked files at all, or I need to add some.   Hi, We have an AIR app and using a datagrid. We want to store the dataGrid.columns array in mySQL DB through PHP. This is needed because the user can customise the column headers of the datagrid and his preference needs to be stored and shown to him on his next login. Using HTTPService, we tried sending the dataGrid.columns array as a string, as follows, var ht:HTTPService = new HTTPService(); ht.url = Config.getServerURL(); ht.method = URLRequestMethod.POST; ht.resultFormat = "text"; ht.request["action"] = "updateGrid"; ht.request["headercolumns"] = colsArray.toString(); The data is stord as comma separated array string in DB. When we retrieve it back, cannot seem to cast it back to the DatagridColumns and assign it. Please let me know. Regards Jada.

If I want to create a list of objects generated in a loop, I can do: a = [] for i in range(5): a.append(i) I want to do something similar with a numpy array. I know about vstack, concatenate etc. However, it seems these require two numpy arrays as inputs. What I need is: big_array # Initially empty.   Hi, I have a command line C++ program that lets you enter basic information about a person (ID number, name, age, etc.) and I want to output to a console in the following manner: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Index ID # First Name Last Name Age ------------------------------------------------------------------- 0 1234 John Smith 25 The person objects are stored in an array of Persons and I've overload the ostream (<<) operator to print out all of the fields like you see. The dashed lines and header come from a displayHdg() function. Anyhow, I have not been able to figure out how to get the proper index value for the array. Ideally, I'd like to generate the indices for each line, but all my attempts have failed. The array is looped through and each object printed in the main() function, and the ostream is overloaded in a person class, so I tried to use global variables as well as static variables, and all of those produce incorrect numbering (i.e. show 0, 1 the first time (for 2 objects), then change to 1, 2 on the next display). Any ideas?

I understand this can be achieved by some special symbols but still i would like to know the standard way. Even if i am using some special symbol , how will i handle a situation where the actual data item is the value of special symbol.   This seems like such a simple need but I've spent an inordinate amount of time trying to do this to no avail. I've looked at other questions on SO and I haven't found what I need. I have a very simple JavaScript array such as peoplenames = new Array("Mike","Matt","Nancy","Adam","Jenny","Nancy","Carl"); that may or may not contain duplicates and I need to simply remove the duplicates and put the unique values in a new array. That's it. I could point to all the codes that I've tried but I think it's useless because they don't work. If anyone has done this and can help me out I'd really appreciate it. JavaScript or jQuery solutions are both acceptable.

  Dear experts, I was trying to dynamically generate DOM elements using JS. I read from Douglas Crockford's book that DOM is very very poorly structured. Anyways, I would like to create a number of DIVISION elements and store the reference into an array so it could be accessed later. Here's the code for(i=0;i<3;i++){ var div=document.body.appendChild(document.createElement("div")); var arr=new Array(); arr.push(div); } Somehow this would not work..... I'm already using XmlType to change the display name, is there something similar that lets you set its group name when in an array. [XmlType(TypeName="Xxxx")] public class SomeClass Or, will I need to add a wrapper class for this collection?

  Hi all, I have an array that has 30 date objects. The date objects are indexed in the array from the minimum date value to the maximum date value. What I would like to do is retrieve only 7 dates from the array. Out of the 7, the first one should be the minDate and the last should be the maxDate, with 5 dates in the middle.   I hope this is blindingly obvious: I'm looking for the fastest way to replace a repeating element in a string with the elements in a given array, e.g. for SQL queries and parameter replacement. $query = "SELECT * FROM a WHERE b = ? AND c = ?"; $params = array('bee', 'see'); Here I would like to replace the instances of ? with the corresponding ordered array elements, as so: SELECT * FROM a WHERE b = 'bee' and c = 'see' I see that this might be done using preg_replace_callback, but is this the fastest way or am I missing something obvious?
