• Dividing n-bit binary integers

  Was wondering if anyone could help me with creating a pseudocode for how to go about dividing n-bit binary integers. Here is what I'm thinking could possibly work right now, could someone correct this if I'm wrong: divide (x,y) if x=0: return (0,0) //(quotient, remainder) (q,r) = divide(floor(x/2), y) q=2q, r=2r if x is odd: r = r+1 if r >= y: r = r-y, q = q+1 return (q,r) Would you guys say that this general pseudocode algorithm would accomplish the intended task of dividing n-bit numbers or am I missing something in my psuedocode before I start coding up something that's wrong?

• Should I be using libraries if I'm trying to learn how to program?

  I have been programming "a lot" in the past few months and at first I was trying to find the "easyest" language. Fortunately I realized that it's not about the language, it's about learning HOW to code. I ran into the Stanford lectures online (programming methodology) and I watched them all (around 23 hours total) awhile ago. Then I got into Java ME and programmed about 28.47% of a mobile RPG game (only around 2k lines of code). I feel like I learned a lot from those two experiences compared to previous ones but now that I'm moving into flash/actionscript 3.0 development and I'm finding myself learning like I did when I first started with PHP. I'm not really getting whats under the hood kind of. I'm finding myself using libraries to speed up development time which doesn't seem like a bad thing BUT I personally do not know how to write the libraries myself off hand. So should I be coding everything myself or is it ok to use libraries when you don't even know how to code them?

  During the design html pages or aspx pages, I like to do the pure coding without Html Designer. The problem is that I like to have the following format on html page for better readability. <div> <% if (1 == 1) { %> Hello <% } else { %> World <% } %> </div> As you can guess, whenever you type '}' or ';' or etc, visual studio try to do the auto format and change to the following format <div> <% if (1 == 1) { %> Hello <% } else { %> World <% } %> </div> The question is "Is it possible to disable auto formatting just only for HTML pages on VS2010? (NOT for C# code, I still like to have auto formatting for C# pages)"

  Hi, In my application I m using following coding convention to open my default screen :-- AppDelegate *ptrDefaultScreen = (AppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication]delegate]; [self.navigationController presentModalViewController:ptrDefaultScreen.FrmFlashScreenLink animated:YES]; but when I move to other screen after default screen ,my default screen is still exists even i used [self dismissModelViewController:YES]; to dimiss default screen from view. where I m wrong I want my default screen will be completely removed from view.   I have two classes, Tag and Hardware, defined with a simple parent-child relationship (see the full definition at the end). Now I want to filter a query on Tag using the version field in Hardware through an attribute_mapped_collection, eg: def get_tags(order_code=None, hardware_filters=None): session = Session() query = session.query(Tag) if order_code: query = query.filter(Tag.order_code == order_code) if hardware_filters: for k, v in hardware_filters.iteritems(): query = query.filter(getattr(Tag.hardware, k).version == v) return query.all() But I get: AttributeError: Neither 'InstrumentedAttribute' object nor 'Comparator' object associated with Tag.hardware has an attribute 'baseband The same thing happens if I strip it back by hard-coding the attribute, eg: query.filter(Tag.hardware.baseband.version == v) I can do it this way: query = query.filter(Tag.hardware.any(artefact=k, version=v)) But why can't I filter directly through the attribute?   Hi All, I am trying to identify a method for obtaining nearby wifi access points using C in Windows. I am coding in Visual Studio 2010. I have read the necessary documentation but am lacking in guidance on how to implement code that would accomplish this. I am specifically interested in obtaining the MAC address of nearby access points or at a minimum the MAC address of the currently connected Wifi access point. Is it possible to do this using WMI in Windows, specifically on Windows XP SP3 and later? Any pointers on how to do this are greatly appreciated.

  Hi, I've gotten extremely interested into coding trainers (Program that modifies value of a different process) for video games. I've done the simple 'god-mode' and 'unlimited money' things, but I want to do alot more than that. (Simple editing using WriteProcessMemory) There are memory addresses of functions on the internet of the video game I'm working on, and one of functions is like "CreateCar" and I'm wanting to call that function from an external program. My question: How can I call a function from an external process in C/C++, provided the function address, using a process handle or other method. PS: If anyone could link me to tools (I've got debuggers, no need for more..) that help with this sort of thing, that'd be nice.

• Adding interfaces that won't be actually used

  I currently have two interfaces(that I'll name here IA and IB): interface IA { int Width; int Height; ... } interface IB { int Width; int Height; ... } that share the same two properties: they both have a Width and a Height property. I was thinking if there is any point in defining an IMatrix interface containing a Width and Height properties: interface IMatrix { int Width; int Height; } The thing is that although they share both the same properties, I won't make use of polymorphism with IMatrix in any of my coding: i.e., there won't by any situation where I'll want to use an IMatrix, I'll just want to use IA and IB. Adding an IMatrix seems more like over-engineering than other thing, but I'd like to ask you guys what your opinion is on the matter. Thanks

  Starting to use PC-Lint on an existing code base (fear and trepidation). One thing that it complains about is the following: class IBatch { public: virtual void StartBatch() =0; virtual int CommitBatch() =0; }; Which when another class derives from this to use it like an interface base class 'IBatch' has no destructor So, the question: when you create Interface classes like the above, do you always include a virtual destructor? Why? (is it a style or a coding error?)

• Utilizing a third party application for GitHub in a django project

  I'm trying to use a third party application located here: git://github.com/Star2Billing/django-audiofield.git I'm using Aptana Studio as my IDE. I created my project and then I clicked on the project and imported the app from the github location. It looked like it imported. I wanted to check that it imported properly before beginning any real coding so I performed manage.py validate. I got a message that stated: "No module named audiofield". I added the app to my Installed Apps settings and followed the installation instructions. I'm not sure if I'm importing it incorrectly. Also, I'm using virtualenv in Aptana. I'm not sure if this may have added to the problem. Please help.

  I would like to edit the ASP.NET MVC templates for Visual Studio so that any new action or controller created has a specific piece of code within it by default. • Extendable accessing of sqlite database on android platform

  Hi, I am fairly new to the android sdk and databases and have been searching for an answer to this quite some time. I am trying to build an app which has multiple tables within a database. e.g. one for weapons, armours etc. However, my DatabaseManager class which handles all of my table creating, DatabaseHelper inner class and populating of data is creating for an extremely large class requiring high maintenance. Every time I would like to add or remove a table column I need to change quite a few areas of code, - Every reference to the addition of a row in that table with data - The method that the above calls - The method returning all of the database rows - The code in the helper class creating the table - Any specific update methods My question is this: Surely there must be some better way of coding this system, maybe using a database isn't the best way to go, or am i just not used to such large classes having only learned java at university and my largest class consisting of a mere 400-600 lines of code. I don't know 2 things: 1) Where should I use (within component class!) the methods for drawing, like FillRect or PolyLine? In OnPaint handler that I should define and map it in MESSAGE MAP? Will it (OnPaint handler) be called from OnPaint handler of the dialog of the application or where from? 2)How to connect the component, once it is made, to the test application, which will for example be dialog based?   This should be easy for many of you, but for me it's just another bit of rust needing to be chipped away as I get back into basic Java coding. Using bloody associative arrays for so long in other languages have turned me nice and spoiled. :P My problem is simple: I'm storing a set of objects, each containing a string and a number, in a list. I would like each object inserted into this list to be sorted alphabetically by its string. I would also like to be able to retrieve objects from the list by their string as well. I would like to do this as formally and/or efficiently as possible. Is there something already available in the Java standard libraries for this?

I have a big list of properties that I need to map between two objects, and in one, the value that I need to map is buried inside an array. I'm hoping to avoid hard-coding the property names in the code. If I have a class like this: class Product { public $colors, $sizes; } I can access the properties like this: $props = array('colors', 'sizes'); foreach ($props as $p) { $this->$p = $other_object->$p; } As far as I can tell, if each of the properties on the left are an array, I can't do this: foreach ($props as $p) { $this->$p[0]['value'] = $other_object->$p; } Is that correct, or am I missing some clever way around this?

I have been using public properties instead of exposing member variables publically. Many a people told that this approach helps in encapsulation. I don’t realize any encapsulation advantage by making it a property. While discussions, I came to know that not many people knows about the real reason for going for Property. Where someone using a CMS could type [readmore] anywhere into the Content field, which would be replaced by the above anchor via PHP. This way they would be easily able to control where the Read More break appears within the container. In the associated example I am hard-coding the height to 75px, although what I want is for the height to be dependent on the location of the anchor id="stop" in the text. Thanks.
