  • Facebook - using an external flash application to connect via PHP

    So, I have this application that needs to connect to facebook. It uses php for all of its data access, in older examples of the facebook API, i see people get the UID, and sessionkey from the iframe page, then send them to php and run a function called $facebook-setUser($UID, $sessionKey). This is how the majority of the tutorials online are doing it. That would be great, except the newest facebook API doesn't have any function like that. I have been scouring the web for 2 hours and have found nothing relating to the disappearance of this seemingly critical function. So, I have a flash application that needs to authenticate via a stateless php resource. I would love it if my PHP code could be completely uncaring if the request originated from flash, or iphone, or another application altogether-it should just need userId and and sessionKey. Is this still possible? Thank you in advance for your help! :)

  • Using SalesForce's Web Service to create and set the type of a Task

    I am successfully creating a Task using the SalesForce API SOAP API through Java. However, my problem is that I can't seem to set the Type of it. They all default to "Call" but I really want them to be "Email". Can someone point me in the direction of where I can do this? I think it is to do with RecordTypeMapping, but i am somewhat confused as to how to use this in my Java code to look up the particular one for Task type. I feel I have got so close with this. I have the correct WSDL that is giving me the extra method on the Task.java class, but no matter what I pass in, it dies. This doesn't seem to be a huge ask, yet i am perplexed as to which dots to join to get it to work Any help would be appreciated. thanks

  • What online brokers offer APIs?

    So I'm getting really sick of E*TRADE and, being a developer, would love to find an online broker that offers an API. It would be great to be able to write my own trading tools, and maybe even modify existing ones. Based on my research so far, I've only found one option. Interactive Brokers offers a multi-language API (Java/C++/ActiveX/DDE) and has some fairly decent commission rates to boot. I want to make sure there aren't any other options out there I should be considering. Any ideas? Update: Based on answers so far, here's a quick list...     I have had issue today in one application where Geolocation is not working. Even on this page http://slaveryfootprint.org/survey/#where_do_you_live . When you enter a location , its showing null lattiude and longitude. Even though it search for autolocation, it can point the right location. and it happened all if a sudden today which was working fine since yestrday night and when I see in console it is returning null lat and long and null for city and I did not change the code at all.     Hi Guys, I simply want to create a fairly basic REST service, so that I can expose some of the data in my asp.net/SQL server application to the outside works, like this..... http://domain.com/api/offices - would return an xml set of office locations. http://domain.com/api/offices/15 - would return all the details of office 15. It's all fairly standard stuff (including basic authentication) but there seem to be several ways to achieve this using Microsoft technologies and I don't really know where to start. These seem to be the options... 1) WCF 2) ASP.NET MVC 3) ADO.NET Data Services 4) Rest Starter Kit project templates? Which of these is the easiest and most "up-to-date" solution to creating a web service?

I want to embed it in exe file, I was successful in running simple main class(present in file system) using JNI invocation API, I am planning to add jar file as resource in C/C++ program. But I don't know how do I run that jar file , One option is create temporary jar file on file system and run it using java, But I do not want to expose my jar file to everyone for security reasons, How can I run serialized jar file on the fly using JNI ?

  • How can I have a smooth animated move between 2 Google Maps locations?

    When clicking from one marker to another in Google Maps, the map screen animates the move smoothly if both markers are within them initial map view but jumps if one of the markers is off screen. I'm trying to set up a map which has several locations within the main map area but has one which is 'off screen'. I have a signpost icon to the more distant location within the initial map area which I want to smoothly scroll to the off screen location when clicked (so as to give a better sense of it's relative location). I can't find anything in the Maps API which would let me do this however. I could zoom out, move and then zoom in again but this looks a bit jarring. Am I missing something in the API, or does anyone have any suggestions?

  • youtube - video upload failure - unable to convert file - encoding the video wrong?

    I am using .NET to create a video uploading application. Although it's communicating with YouTube and uploading the file, the processing of that file fails. YouTube gives me the error message, "Upload failed (unable to convert video file)." This supposedly means that "your video is in a format that our converters don't recognize..." I have made attempts with two different videos, both of which upload and process fine when I do it manually. So I suspect that my code is a.) not encoding the video properly and/or b.) not sending my API request properly.   • Making JSON Feed Work Server to Server

    I have a JSON feed (which I don't directly control, I have to ask the server admins to update it), that is returning NULL, or otherwise not working when I try to access it from another server. The actual feed works fine, but I can't get it to work like a normal API. Why can I use Flickr, WhitePages, Twitter, etc's JSON APIs, but for: http://portlandoregon.gov/shared/cfm/json.cfm It returns NULL in the browser when using JS. If I call it on the same server, it's fine though. If this is a server issue, what do I ask the admins to change, and if this is a local (browser) based issue, what am I doing wrong for this one feed that works for every other JSON API?

  • HTML-like GUI Framework in Java

    I was recently brought onto a project where we are developing a lot GUI elements for BlackBerry devices. The standard RIM APIs are pretty basic, almost never do what is required and are difficult or impossible to extend, so we end up re-implementing chunks of it. Currently the code we have isn't super organized and factored so there are lots of little tricks that get implemented over and over again. I had a thought about how to aid development efforts on this platform and wanted to see if the community could tell me if I'm still sane or if I've gone totally nuts. By far, the biggest organizational problem I've run into is making sure that each screen is laid out properly with proper padding and such. The current approach is to manually keep track of padding like so: protected void sublayout(int width, int height) { final int padding = 5; int y = padding; int x = padding; layoutChild(_someChild, width - padding * 2, height / 3 - padding * 2); setPositionChild(_someChild, x, y); y += _someChild.getHeight() + padding; // Calculate where to start drawing next. /* ... snipped ... */ } As you can see, positioning elements on a screen is a nightmare due to the tedium. I have investigated other GUI frameworks but, for a variety of reasons, it is difficult to find one that suites our purposes. One potential solution that came to me is to create a GUI framework who's API resembles HTML/CSS. This would allow for things like padding, margins, borders and colours to be handled through a sort of CSS API while the content would be organized using the HTML part of the API. It might look something like this: public class OptionsScreen extends Document { public OptionsScreen() { // You would set the style (like CSS style) through the constructor.   • Several client waiting for the same event

    I'm developing a communication API to be used by a lot of generic clients to communicate with a proprietary system. This proprietary system exposes an API, and I use a particular classes to send and wait messages from this system: obviously the system alert me that a message is ready using an event. The event is named OnMessageArrived. My idea is to expose a simple SendSyncMessage(message) method that helps the user/client to simply send a message and the method returns the response. As soon as the event arrived, checks if the message is the one I expect (checking the unique guid), otherwise continues to wait for the next event. This because could be (and usually is in this way) a lot of clients working concurrently, and I want them to work parallel. As I implemented my stuff, at the moment if I run client 1, client 2 and client 3, client 2 starts sending message as soon as client 1 has finished, and client 3 as client 2 has finished: not what I'm trying to do.   • AppFabric caching's local cache isnt working for us... What are we doing wrong?

    We are using appfabric as the 2ndlevel cache for an NHibernate asp.net application comprising a customer facing website and an admin website. They are both connected to the same cache so when admin updates something, the customer facing site is updated. It seems to be working OK - we have a CacheCLuster on a seperate server and all is well but we want to enable localcache to get better performance, however, it dosnt seem to be working. We have enabled it like this... bool UseLocalCache = int LocalCacheObjectCount = int.MaxValue; TimeSpan LocalCacheDefaultTimeout = TimeSpan.FromMinutes(3); DataCacheLocalCacheInvalidationPolicy LocalCacheInvalidationPolicy = DataCacheLocalCacheInvalidationPolicy.TimeoutBased; if (UseLocalCache) { configuration.LocalCacheProperties = new DataCacheLocalCacheProperties( LocalCacheObjectCount, LocalCacheDefaultTimeout, LocalCacheInvalidationPolicy ); // configuration.NotificationProperties = new DataCacheNotificationProperties(500, TimeSpan.FromSeconds(300)); } Initially we tried using a timeout invalidation policy (3mins) and our app felt like it was running faster. HOWEVER, we noticed that if we changed something in the admin site, it was immediatley updated in the live site. As we are using timeouts not notifications, this demonstrates that the local cache isnt being queried (or is, but is always missing). The cache.GetType().Name returns "LocalCache" - so the factory has made a local cache. Running "Get-Cache-Statistics MyCache" in PS on my dev environment (asp.net app running local from vs2008, cache cluster running on a seperate w2k8 machine) show a handful of Request Counts. However, on the Production environment, the Request Count increases dramaticaly. We tried following the method here to se the cache cliebt-server traffic... http://blogs.msdn.com/b/appfabriccat/archive/2010/09/20/appfabric-cache-peeking-into-client-amp-server-wcf-communication.aspx but the log file had nothing but the initial header in it - i.e no loggin either. I cant find anything in SO or Google. Have we done something wrong? Have we got a screwy install of AppFabric - we installed it via WebPlatform Installer - I think? (note: the IIS box running ASp.net isnt in yhe cluster - it is just the client). Any insights greatfully received!

  • A submenu (`ToolStripMenuItem`) does not show automatically.

    I have encountered strange problem with a three-level context menu. In some situation the sub menu does not show automatically. I have following structure of the menu: * AAA - level 1 * BBB - level 1 * CCC - level 2 * xxx - level 3 * yyy - level 3 * DDD - level 2 * zzz - level 3 * vvv - level 3 I start from a menu with two option AAA and BBB. After I move the cursor over BBB the second-level menu appears with two other options CCC and DDD. So far OK. Now, when I quickly move the cursor over DDD the third-level sub menu does not show up, but when I move the cursor back to CCC the sub menu shows up, and when I go back to DDD then the sub menu also shows. Why it does not show at first time? Have you ever encountered such a problem? I fixed the problem with MouseEnter and MouseLeave events, but I still wonder why it does not work properly without the events.

  • iPhone, special characters in JSON Response

    Writing an iphone app, and I'm getting my data from a REST API that returns JSON. My problem is, some of the data has special characters embedded and Im getting errors. Example: MartÌn Petite-RiviËre-Saint-FranÁois Here is my current code: NSString *jsonString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:receivedData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSMutableArray *tempResults = [[[jsonString JSONValue] objectForKey:@"getRegionResortsLastUpdatedResponse"] objectForKey:@"return"]; Whenever the data has special characters in it "jsonString" return "(null)", otherwise everything works fine. Is this something I can handle on my end, or does the API need to be modified to output the character codes?

  • Html how to make a part on iframe, unvisible and unclickable externally? (my idea)

    I have a page (A) including a BUTTON with a function close_window() , however when I embed A to my main page (B) using iframe, the close_window() can't work as expected since there is no more window anymore, and I am not able to remove the button from the iframe since A is on another domain (Security issues prevents). What I want to do is make this button label invisible. And the only way I think is to put a white image just to the place where that button exists on my iframe, externally. is Smthing like that possible? I want the image to be on the top of iframe? Or do you have any other idea ? Thanks for helps.

  • Programmatically retrieve a list of a user's Facebook pages

    Greetings, Using the Facebook API, I have obtained an OAuth access token for a user. I can use it to retrieve information about the user and post to their wall, etc. I'm trying to figure out how to (or if there is a way to) programmatically get a list of pages a user owns (so that they can be presented in a drop-down list on a third-party site). I have been unable to find such a method in the Facebook API, but I'm hoping I've missed something. Thanks!
