• Convert DVDs and ISO Files to MKV with MakeMKV

  Looking for a quick and easy way to convert your DVDs or ISOs to MKV files? Today we take a look at the MakeMKV Beta which gets the job done very well. Installing and Using MakeMKV Download and install MakeMKV (See download link below) If converting a DVD, place it into your optical drive. When you open MakeMKV you will be greeted by it’s minimalistic interface. Click on the DVD to hard drive button to open the DVD, or the folder icon on the top menu to browse for an ISO file.   MakeMKV will open the disc or file. Once the disc or file is opened, you’ll see the titles listed in the window on the left. Double-click on the titles to expand the tree structure.   Remove any title or tracks you don’t want to convert by unselecting the check box to the left. On the right side of the window, click the folder icon to select browse for your file output directory. When ready, click the MakeMkv button to begin the conversion process.   Conversion will proceed.   When the conversion is finished. Click OK. That’s all there is to it! Your MKV file is ready to play. Conclusion MakeMKV is currently still in beta and during the beta phase it will rip both DVD and Blu-ray for free. However, the DVD ripping functionality will always remain free. After 30 days if you want to continue ripping Blu-ray discs, you’ll need to purchase a license. • Migrating a blog from Orchard 0.5 to 0.9

  My personal blog still runs on Orchard 0.5, because the theme that I used to build it is not yet available for more recent versions, but it is still very important for me to know that I can migrate all my content and comments to a new version at any time. Fortunately, Nick Mayne has been consistently shipping a BlogML module a few days after each of the Orchard versions shipped. Because the module gallery for each version is behind a different URL and is kept alive even after a new one shipped, it is very easy to install the module for both versions. Step 0: Setting up the migration environment In order to do the migration, I made a local copy of the production site on my laptop (data included: I'm using SQL CE) and I also created a new local site with a fresh install of Orchard 0.9. Step 1: Enable the gallery feature on both versions From the admin UI, go to Features and locate the Gallery feature under "Packaging". Enable it. You may now click on "Browse Gallery" on the 0.5 instance and "Modules" under "Gallery" for 0.9: Step 2: Install the BlogML module on both versions From the gallery page, locate the BlogML module and install it. Do it on both versions. Then go to Features and enable BlogML under "Content Publishing". Do it on both versions. Step 3: Export from the 0.5 version Click on "Manage Blog" then on "Export using BlogML" from the 0.5 version. The module then informs you of the path of the saved file: Step 4: Import into the 0.9 version From the 0.9 version, click "Import under "Blogs". Click the button to browse to the file that you just saved from 0.5. Then click "Upload file and Import" Step 5: Copy the 0.5 media folder into 0.9 Copy the contents of the 0.5 version's media folder into the media folder of the 0.9 version. Once that is done, you can delete the "Default/Blog Exports" subfolder. Step 6: Configure the target blog Click "Manage Blog", then "Blog Properties" and restore any properties you had on the source blog. For me, it was the title and URL as well as to set the blog as the home page and show it on the main menu: Step 7: Republish the new site to the production server Once this is done and everything works locally, you are ready to publish to the production site. I use FTP. Note: this should work just as well for any couple of versions for which the BlogML module exists, and not just for 0.5 and 0.9.

• Nautilus bookmarks and smb shares work with non-root user

  I'm having a problem with Nautilus in Ubuntu 10.10 When I open Nautilus as common user, it shows bookmarks and the bookmarks that point to smb windows shares work fine. However, if I start Nautilus as root, it does not show bookmarks, and if I try to browse a smb share directly (by pressing Ctrl+L and inserting an address like smb://[email protected]/backups/) it doesn't work and gives me an error that it couldn't be found.

So when someone browse domain.com/robots.txt then a different file is shown. And when someone go to test.domain.com/robots.txt then a different file is shown. • How do you get out of "Flash movie keystroke capture" without a mouse?

  When you browse the web with either Chrome or Firefox and you find a Flash movie or TV show player (e.g. on Hulu), the movie will capture a lot of your keyboard input if you activate it somehow. You can still do basic things like ALT+Tab to switch apps, but basically any web browser keyboard shortcut is inaccessible until you use a mouse to click outside the Flash embed. Is there any way to escape the Flash movie without a mouse?

• How to disable Chrome's Incognito Mode?

  I use this extension called Website Blocker to discourage me from checking Gmail/Reddit. However, it is easy and tempting to open a New Incognito Window; since extensions are disabled in Incognito Mode, I'm still able to browse Gmail/Reddit in this manner. Is there any way to disable Chrome's Incognito Mode in Ubuntu? Ideally, this would encourage me to use my smartphone as a dedicated Gmail/Reddit checker.

• VMWare Workstation 8 can't find the headers directory

  I'm having an issue with VMware Workstation 8. I installed it but when i run it, it shows this window: But, when I press on "Browse", this window comes up Even if I select the linux-headers-3.8.0-31-generic folder, it says that it can't find the C headers for that kernel. Why? P.S. I already tried sudo apt-get install linux-headers-3.8.0-31-generic and the terminal says that the kernel is up to date.

The same can be said for e-commerce and your website. Being able to quickly convert shoppers into buyers with effective merchandising is what makes leading businesses successful. You want to engage each individual visitor with the most-relevant content to drive higher conversions and order values while decreasing abandonment, but predicting what will resonate with each customer is difficult. In a world of choices, online merchandizing tools can help personalize, streamline, and refine what your customers view when they browse your online catalog. The key to being effective is to align your products and content as closely as possible with the customer’s needs. The goal on the home page is to promote your brand and push visitors farther into the site. The home page is often the starting point for repeat customers as well as for new visitors hoping to address their current product needs. • overheating and shutdown problems when adobe flash runs?

  I'm a new user of UBUNTU and using a Dell latitude D630. When I browse to site that have some flash animation (mostly advertisements), the temperature of cores increase dramatically (I check with sensors, in the worse case it was 104C for one core and 93 for the other core) and if I don't close the website it will shutdown the laptop. Do you have any suggestion or solution for that? PS: as an example for crashing sites you can see "tabnak.ir", a news website with lots of ads.

• My Encore N300 wireless usb doesn't connect, any workarounds?

  I decided to wipe Windows 7 and made a full installation. Everything works great but for a Encore N300 wireless usb dongle that I use on my desktop. Ubuntu seems to recognize it and I can browse the available networks, but I can connect to any of them. I was told that I should download its drivers, and so I did it, but I don't know how to install them. Please, I'd like to know if my connectivity problem is really a driver issue or some other thing.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be able to sort files (in a given bucket) by anything other than whatever its default is (which seems to be by name). I'd like a nice GUI client for seeing these files which will let me sort them by date, so the newest will appear on top. I did find a Firefox plug-in - S3Fox - but it doesn't work for the current version of Firefox.

• Deny access to a folder on hosting server but serve the pages

  My hosting server allows to host multiple websites. The directory structure is like this root |_ www.a.com |_ www.b.com |_ www.c.com |_ www.d.com I want to put some PHP files on the www.d.com folder so if some one browse the site from web-browser can get it, but no one can get it's source code [even by loggin in to the root folder]. Is there any way to doing so ? There is a feature called Password protect folder or so, can in help in this case ?

• Webdav stops working after a few seconds

  With Ubuntu 13.10, I connect to two different OwnCloud installations and can browse for only a few seconds before it freezes the connection and stops working. When I try to reinstate the connection it fails to even ask for the password (Ubuntu was told to forget the password). I did check the webdav connection through Firefox on two computers and ES File Explorer on android. I know that this isn't a webdav problem and don't know what is happening in Ubuntu to stop being able to read the connection.
