  • Refining Solr searches, getting exact matches?

    - by thebluefox
Afternoon chaps, Right, I'm constructing a fairly complex (to me anyway) search system for a website using Solr, although this question is quite simple I think... I have two search criteria, location and type. I want to return results that are exact matches to type (letter to letter, no exceptions), and like location. My current search query is as follows ../select/?q=location:N1 type:blue&rows=100&fl=*,score&debugQuery=true This firstly returns all the type blue's that match N1, but then returns any type that matches N1, which is opposite to what I'm after. Both fields are set as textgen in the Solr schema. Any pointers? Cheers gang

  • Which index is used in select and why?

    - by Lukasz Lysik
I have the table with zip codes with following columns: id - PRIMARY KEY code - NONCLUSTERED INDEX city When I execute query SELECT TOP 10 * FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by id column. But when I change the query to: SELECT TOP 10 id FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by code column. Again, when I change the query to: SELECT TOP 10 code FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by code column again. And finally when I change to: SELECT TOP 10 id,code FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by id column. My question is in the title of the question. I know which indexes are used in the queries, but my question is, why those indexes are used? I the second query (SELECT TOP 10 id FROM ZIPCodes) wouldn't it be faster if the clusteder index was used? How the query engine chooses which index to use?

  • Remove results below a certain score threshold in Solr/Lucene?

    - by snickernet
Hi Guys, Is there a built-in functionalities in solr/lucene to filter the results if they fall below a certain score threshold? Let's say if I provide a score threshold of .2, then all documents with score less than .2 will be removed from my results. My intuition is that this is possible by updating/customizing solr or lucene. Could you point me to right direction on how to do this? Thanks in advance!

  • The right way of using index.html

    - by Jeyekomon
I have quite a lot of issues I'd like to hear your opinion on, so I hope I'll manage to explain it well enough. I should also note that I'm beginner equipped only with the knowledge of HTML and CSS so although I'm almost sure that there is a simple solution using powerful PHP, it won't help me. Let's say that I have my personal blog on the address example.com/blog.html and there are links to several sub-blogs example.com/blog/math.html, example.com/blog/coding.html etc. So my root folder contains blog.html and blog folder, the blog folder itself contains files math.html and coding.html. First of all, I learned (from Google Webmasters Tools) that for SEO and aesthetical purposes it's good to unify example.com.com and example.com/index.html by adding _rel="canonical"_ attribute into the source of the index.html. Using a couple of other tricks (like linking to ../ and ./) I got rid of the ugly index.html appearing in my web addresses. And now I wonder if this trick can be used not only for the root folder but for any folder? I mean, I would move my blog.html into the blog folder, rename it into the index.html and add rel="canonical" to unify example.com/blog/index.html with example.com/blog/. This trick would change the address of my blog from example.com/blog.html into example.com/blog/. Not finished! I'm also experiencing problems with the google robot indexing my folders. So when I type site:example.com/ into the google search, the link to my folder example.com/blog/ with raw files, icons etc. appears among the other results. I guess there are also other ways how to fix it, but IMHO the change mentioned above would do the trick too - the index.html in the blog folder would preserve the user from viewing the actual raw content of that folder, there would appear only the right link example.com/blog/ in the google search and (I hope that) _rel="canonical"_ would make the second, unwanted link example.com/blog/index.html not to appear in the search results. So my questions are: Is it a good practice to have the index.html file in every subfolder or is it intended to be only in the root folder? Are there any disadvantages or problems that may occur when using the second, "index in every folder" method? Which one of the two ways of structuring the website described above would you prefer?

  • Google crawled all our RSS links - how do I remove these from their index? [closed]

    - by ElHaix
Possible Duplicate: How to Remove URLs from Google Search Engine We added a RSS link to our site for our content. Since then, our site visits have diminished. If a user is viewing the RSS feed, the link itself does not go to the actual article/content. Instead, each link goes to a main index - where the content may have changed, and the article they clicked on COULD be on that page, depending on its age. The RSS link structure is as follows: www.oursite.com/[search term]/rsslink/[title of the rss link they clicked on] I'm not trying to do anything black-hat here, but wondering if we're getting penalized for this somehow. If this is the case, could I do something like permanently-removed on all /rsslink/ pages?

  • Trying to convert simple midlet application to Android application but running into problems.

    - by chobo2
Hi I am trying to do some threading in Android so I took an old threading assignment I had done fora midlet and took out the midlet code and replaced it with android code(such as textview). package com.assignment1; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.widget.TextView; public class Threading extends Activity { private TextView tortose; private TextView hare; private Thread hareThread; private Thread torotoseThread; private int num = 0; private int num2 = 0; public Threading() { } /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); tortose = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.TextView01); hare = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.TextView02); Hare newHare = new Hare(); hareThread = new Thread(newHare); hareThread.start(); Torotose newTortose = new Torotose(); torotoseThread = new Thread(newTortose); torotoseThread.start(); //updateDisplay(); } private synchronized void check(int value1, int value2) { if((value1-value2) >= 10) { try { wait(); } catch(Exception ex) { System.out.println(ex); } } } private synchronized void getGoing(int value1, int value2) { if((value1-value2) == 0) { try { notify(); } catch(Exception ex) { System.out.println(ex); } } } private class Hare extends Thread { public void run() { while(true) { num++; hare.setText(Integer.toString(num)); check(num, num2); try { // are threads different in andriod apps? Thread.sleep(100); // hareThread.sleep(100); } catch(Exception ex) { System.out.println(ex); } } } } private class Torotose extends Thread { public void run() { while(true) { num2++; tortose.setText(Integer.toString(num2)); getGoing(num,num2); try { Thread.sleep(200); //torotoseThread.sleep(200); } catch(Exception ex) { System.out.println(ex); } } } } } First it wanted me to change my threads to like static threads. So is this just how Android does it? Next when I run this code it just crashes with some unexpected error. I am not sure what the error is but when I try to debug it and goes to like to create a new "hare" object it shows me this. // Compiled from ClassLoader.java (version 1.5 : 49.0, super bit) public abstract class java.lang.ClassLoader { // Method descriptor #8 ()V // Stack: 3, Locals: 1 protected ClassLoader(); • [C++] Index strings by other strings

    - by mcco
Hello, I need to index specific strings with other strings and I can't really find a good way to do so. I tried to use tr1::unordered_map, but I'm having some difficulties using it. If someone could tell me what is the best way to do that I'd be really grateful :) I also need to index objects by a number (numbers are not in order so I can't use a vector)

  • ie7 z-index problem

    - by rezna
Hi, I've isolated a little test case of IE7's z-index bug, but don't know how to fix it. Have been playing with z-indeces all day long but it didn't. If someone knows, what to do about it, pls help ;) The test case is located here - http://upload.rezna.info/z-index-test.html The problem is, that in IE7 the second textbox is placed over the red list (suggest box). Thx, rezna

  • Determine if an Index has been used as a hint

    - by Joe Bloggs
In SQL Server, there is the option to use query hints. eg SELECT c.ContactID FROM Person.Contact c WITH (INDEX(AK_Contact_rowguid)) I am in the process of getting rid of unused indexes and was wondering how I could go about determining if an index was used as a query hint. Does anyone have suggestions on how I could do this? Cheers, Joe

  • Should I create a unique clustered index, or non-unique clustered index on this SQL 2005 table?

    - by Bremer
I have a table storing millions of rows. It looks something like this: Table_Docs ID, Bigint (Identity col) OutputFileID, int Sequence, int …(many other fields) We find ourselves in a situation where the developer who designed it made the OutputFileID the clustered index. It is not unique. There can be thousands of records with this ID. It has no benefit to any processes using this table, so we plan to remove it. The question, is what to change it to… I have two candidates, the ID identity column is a natural choice. However, we have a process which does a lot of update commands on this table, and it uses the Sequence to do so. The Sequence is non-unique. Most records only contain one, but about 20% can have two or more records with the same Sequence. The INSERT app is a VB6 piece of crud throwing thousands insert commands at the table. The Inserted values are never in any particular order. So the Sequence of one insert may be 12345, and the next could be 12245. I know that this could cause SQL to move a lot of data to keep the clustered index in order. However, the Sequence of the inserts are generally close to being in order. All inserts would take place at the end of the clustered table. Eg: I have 5 million records with Sequence spanning 1 to 5 million. The INSERT app will be inserting sequence’s at the end of that range at any given time. Reordering of the data should be minimal (tens of thousands of records at most). Now, the UPDATE app is our .NET star. It does all UPDATES on the Sequence column. “Update Table_Docs Set Feild1=This, Field2=That…WHERE Sequence =12345” – hundreds of thousands of these a day. The UPDATES are completely and totally, random, touching all points of the table. All other processes are simply doing SELECT’s on this (Web pages). Regular indexes cover those. So my question is, what’s better….a unique clustered index on the ID column, benefiting the INSERT app, or a non-unique clustered index on the Sequence, benefiting the UPDATE app?

  • block z-positioning without z-index

    - by Peter
Please, have a look at: http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/base-css.html There are many examples like this one: if you look closer to the block borders, you can see that the gray block is under the white one. Using the browser's developer tools you can see that both boxes have an inherited z-index: auto; I can't reproduce this effect on my website (without using z-index). So, my question is: Why is the gray block under the white one?

  • MySQL: how to index an "OR" clause

    - by JoséMi
I'm executing the following query SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table WHERE field1='value' AND (field2 = 1000 OR field3 = 2000) There is one index over field1 and another composited over field2&field3. I see MySQL always selects the field1 index and then makes a join using the other two fields which is quite bad because it needs to join 146.000 rows. Suggestions on how to improve this? Thanks

  • does lucene search function work in large size document?

    - by shaon-fan
Hi,there I have a problem when do search with lucene. First, in lucene indexing function, it works well to huge size document. such as .pst file, the outlook mail storage. It can build indexing file include all the information of .pst. The only problem is to large sometimes, include very much words. So when i search using lucene, it only can process the front part of this indexing file, if one word come out the back part of the indexing file, it couldn't find this word and no hits in result. But when i separate this indexing file to several parts in stupid way when debugging, and searching every parts, it can work well. So i want to know how to separate indexing file, how much size should be the limit of searching? cheers and wait 4 reply. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ hi,there, follow Coady siad, i set the length to max 2^31-1. But the search result still can't include what i want. simply, i convert the doc word to string array[] to analyze, one doc word has 79680 words include the space and any symbol. when i search certain word, it just return 300 count, actually it has more than 300 results. The same reason, when i search a word in back part of the doc, it also couldn't find. //////////////set the length idexwriter.SetMaxFieldLength(2147483647); ////////////////////search IndexSearcher searcher = new ndexSearcher(Program.Parameters["INDEX_LOCATION"].ToString()); Hits hits = searcher.Search(query); This is my code, as others same. I found that problem when i need to count every word hits in a doc. So i also found it couldn't search word in back part of doc. pls help me to find, is there any set searcher length somewhere? how u meet this problem.

  • Z-index broken in IE8?

    - by Anna
    Hi there This code works in every other browser I've tried, except IE8. IE8 appears to ignore the z-index - and the pop-up becomes a pop-under. It's in the right place, just renders underneath the thumbnail. Anyone? Thanks! HTML: <a class="thumbnail" href="#thumb"> <img src="/images/comic_a3_thumb.jpg" height="300" width="212" border="0" style="float:right; margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:10px;" alt="description" /> <span> <img src="/images/comic_a3_popup.jpg" /> /span> </a> CSS: .thumbnail{ position: relative; z-index: 0; } .thumbnail:hover{ background-color: transparent; z-index: 50; } .thumbnail span{ /*CSS for enlarged image*/ position: absolute; background-color: lightyellow; padding: 5px; left: 0px; border: 1px dashed gray; visibility: hidden; color: black; text-decoration: none; } .thumbnail span img{ /*CSS for enlarged image*/ border-width: 0; padding: 2px; } .thumbnail:hover span{ /*CSS for enlarged image on hover*/ visibility: visible; top: -140px; /*position where enlarged image should offset horizontally */ left: -500px; }

  • Apache Lucene: Is Relevance Score Always Between 0 and 1?

    - by Eamorr
Greetings, I have the following Apache Lucene snippet that's giving me some nice results: int numHits=100; int resultsPerPage=100; IndexSearcher searcher=new IndexSearcher(reader); TopScoreDocCollector collector=TopScoreDocCollector.create(numHits, true); Query q=parser.parse(queryString); searcher.search(q,collector); ScoreDoc[] hits=collector.topDocs(0*resultsPerPage,resultsPerPage).scoreDocs; Results r=new Results(); r.length=hits.length; for(int i=0;i<hits.length;i++){ Document doc=searcher.doc(hits[i].doc); double distanceKm=getGreatCircleDistance(lucene2double(doc.get("lat")), lucene2double(doc.get("lng")), Double.parseDouble(userLat), Double.parseDouble(userLng)); double newRelevance=((1/distanceKm)*Math.log(hits[i].score)/Math.log(2))*(0-1); System.out.println(hits[i].doc+"\t"+hits[i].score+"\t"+doc.get("content")+"\t"+"Km="+distanceKm+"\trlvnc="+String.valueOf(newRelevance)); } What I want to know, is hits[i].score always between 0 and 1? It seems that way, but I can't be sure. I've even checked the Lucene documentation (class ScoreDocs) to no avail. You'll see I'm calculating the log of the "newRelevance" value, which is based on hits[i].score. I need hits[i].score to be between 0 and 1, because if it is below zero, I'll get an error; above 1 and the sign will change from negative to positive. I hope some Lucene expert out there can offer me some insight. Many thanks,

  • calculating the index of an array C#

    - by Kerry G
    I want to display a list of the answers a student entered incorrectly. How do I identify the index of these questions? I am hoping to change the contents of a textbox to a list of the questions answered incorrectly, which would require calculating the index of each incorrect question. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Data; using System.Drawing; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Threading.Tasks; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace WindowsFormsApplication5 { public partial class Form1 : Form { public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); } //return a pass/fail //return number of correct answers //return number of incorrect answers //return index figures of incorrect values public void examResults () { string[] correctAnswers = {B,D,A,A,C,A,B,A,C,D,B,C,D,A,D,C,C,B,D,A}; string[] studentResults = File.ReadAllLines("studentResults.txt"); var c = correctAnswers.Where((x, i) => x.Equals(studentResults[i])).Count(); if ( c <= 14) passFailBox.Text = "Student has failed the exam"; else passFailBox.Text = "Student has passed the exam"; numberCorrectBox.Text = "Student has answered" + c + "answers correctly"; int f; f= 21-c; numberIncorrectBox.Text = "Student has answered" + f + "answers incorrectly"; } } }

  • Index question: Select * with WHERE clause. Where and how to create index

    - by Mestika
Hi, I’m working on optimizing some of my queries and I have a query that states: select * from SC where c_id ="+c_id” The schema of ** SC** looks like this: SC ( c_id int not null, date_start date not null, date_stop date not null, r_t_id int not null, nt int, t_p decimal, PRIMARY KEY (c_id, r_t_id, date_start, date_stop)); My immediate bid on how the index should be created is a covering index in this order: INDEX(c_id, date_start, date_stop, nt, r_t_id, t_p) The reason for this order I base on: The WHERE clause selects from c_id thus making it the first sorting order. Next, the date_start and date_stop to specify a sort of “range” to be defined in these parameters Next, nt because it will select the nt Next the r_t_id because it is a ID for a specific type of my r_t table And last the t_p because it is just a information. I don’t know if it is at all necessary to order it in a specific way when it is a SELECT ALL statement. I should say, that the SC is not the biggest table. I can say how many rows it contains but a estimate could be between <10 and 1000. The next thing to add is, that the SC, in different queries, inserts the data into the SC, and I know that indexes on tables which have insertions can be cost ineffective, but can I somehow create a golden middle way to effective this performance. Don't know if it makes a different but I'm using IBM DB2 version 9.7 database Sincerely Mestika
