• Removing values from a returned linq query

  HI there I am hoping for some help with a query I have. I have this query var group = from r in CustomerItem group r by r.StoreItemID into g select new { StoreItemID = g.Key, ItemCount = g.Count(), ItemAmount = Customer.Sum(cr => cr.ItemAmount),RedeemedAmount = Customer.Sum(x => x.RedeemedAmount) }; I am returning my results to a list so I can bind it listbox. I have a property called EntryType which is an int. There are 2 available numbers 1 or 2 Lets say I had 3 items that my query is working with 2 of them had the EntryType = 1 and the 3rd had EntryType2. The first records had a ItemAmount of 55.00 and the 3rd had a ItemAmount of 50.00 How can I group using something simlar to above but minus the ItemAmount of 50.00 from the grouped amount to return 60.00? Any help would be great!!

  My application has to do the following: - if the user enters a query that matches exactly an object in my database, a Activity that shows this object should appear; - if the query doesn't match an exact object, a ArrayList with related objects will be returned and an Activity will display this list. So, as I'm using a SearchView on my ActionBar, I want to know how to open the right Activity based on the result of the query, something like this: if(objectFound) openActivityThatShowsThisObject(); else openActivityWithRelatedResults(); I saw in other question that I could use a facade Activity, but I don't know if that is a good approach. Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

  I have got a table which contains 5 column and query requirements: update row no 8 (or id=8) set its column 2, column 3's value from id 9th column 2, column 3 value. means all value of column 2, 3 should be shifted to column 2, 3 of upper row (start from row no 8) and value of last row's 2, 3 will be null For example, with just 3 rows, the first row is untouched, the second to N-1th rows are shifted once, and the Nth row has nulls. id math science sst hindi english 1 11 12 13 14 15 2 21 22 23 24 25 3 31 32 33 34 35 The result of query of id=2 should be: id math science sst hindi english 1 11 12 13 14 15 2 31 32 23 24 25 //value of 3rd row (col 2,3) shifted to row 2 3 null null 33 34 35 This process should run for all rows whose id 2 Please help me to create this update query I am using MS sqlserver 2005

• decode mysql query before returning it to view

  I'm running a query to mysql that returns encrypted data. I'd like, if possible, to decode the results before sending it to the view. It seems like better form to handle the decoding in the controller (or even the model) rather than inside the view. I can't seem to wrap my head around how to do it, though. I was thinking I could iterate through the object, decodode it, and push it to another array that would be sent to the view. Problem with this is I won't know (and need to keep) the indexes of the query.   My table is as follows ObjectID bigint Tag nvarchar(50) Weight float Type tinyint I want to get search for all objects that has tags 'big' or 'large' I want the objectid in order of sum of weights (so objects having both the tags will be on top) select objectid, row_number() over (order by sum(weight) desc) as rowid from tags where tag in ('big', 'large') and type=0 group by objectid the reason for row_number() is that i want paging over results. The query in its current form is very slow, takes a minute to execute over 16 million tags. What should I do to make it faster? I have a non clustered index (objectid, tag, type) Any suggestions?

  I am trying to bhuild a drill down menu for my website, where user will click on a category and it will show the subcategories of that clicked category, there could be n-levels. I am able to write sql query which returns the output exactaly as I want, but the problem is...I dont want to show the whole menu to end user, I would like to open/expand only clicked category. my Query output is: 1 IPTV 2 Jadoo Tv 3 Shava Tv 4 Jalva Tv 5 Programming 6 Microsoft 7 Asp.Net 8 PHP so by default IPTV & Programming Should be displayed, since they are parent, and when I click on IPTV it should open the children of IPTV, like I said there could be n-levels. I was thinking, I can load the output of query to webpage and then control the menu navigation with css/javascript. do you guys have any ideas?

  I'm a little lost as how to run two mysql queries as one(return one result set to be sorted etc). I understand how to do multiple JOINS but need to combine the below which is more than just a multiple join - it would include a multiple where etc. 1st query sql = "SELECT s.id, s.song_name FROM `songs` as s INNER JOIN `artists` as a ON s.artist_id = a.id WHERE ((`a`.id = #{search}))" 2nd query sql = "SELECT s.id, s.song_name FROM `songs` as s INNER JOIN `similarments` as si ON s.artist_id = si.artist_id WHERE ((`si`.similar_id = #{search}))" And then run both queries at once so I can ORDER them etc. Or combine them as one big query (maybe put an OR somewhere)? • Many Associations Leading to Slow Query

  I currently have a database that has a lot of many to many associations. I have services which have many variations which have many staff who can perform the variation who then have details on themselves like name, role, etc... At 10 services with 3 variations each and up to 4 out of 20 staff attached to each service even doing something as getting all variations and the staff associated with them takes 4s. Is there a way I can reduce these queries that take a while to process? I've cut down the queries by doing eager loading in my DBM to reduce the problems that arise from 1+N issues, but still 4s is a long query for just a testing stage. Is there a structure out there that would help make such nested many to many associations much quicker to select? Maybe combining everything past the service level into a single table with a 'TYPE' column ?? I'm just not knowledgable enough to know the solution that turns this 4s query into a 300MS query... Any suggestions would be helpful.

This will return the row for id 1, however if I change the start_date to 2012-11-25, it will fail due to the first condition on AND. I'm really confuse on this since I am new to this, is there any built-in function to handle this kind of situation?

  I have a user table 'users' that has fields like: id first_name last_name ... and have another table that determines relationships: user_id friend_id user_accepted friend_accepted .... I would like to generate a query that selects all the users but also add another field/column say 'network_status' that depends on the values of user_accepted and fiend_accepted. For example, if user_accepted is true friend_accepted is false I want the 'network_status' field to say 'request sent'. Can I possibly do this in one query? (I would prefer not to user if/else inside the query but if that's the only way so be it)

  I have this SQL update query: UPDATE table1 SET table1.field1 = 1 WHERE table1.id NOT IN (SELECT table2.table1id FROM table2); Other portions of the application can add records to table2 which use the field table1id to reference table1. The goal here is to remove records from table1 which aren't referenced by table2. Does SQL Server automatically lock table2 with this kind of query so that a new record can't be added to table2 while executing this query? I've also considered: UPDATE table1 SET field1 = 1 WHERE 0 = (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table2 WHERE table1.id = table2.table1id); Which seems possibly safer, but much slower (because a SELECT would be called on each row of table1 instead of just one select for the NOT IN)

Right now I create a mysql connection at the beginning and use the same connection through out the code. Most of the time is spent making the API calls. Will it be more efficient to create a new database connection only when it's time to store the data (below)? I've read the documentation and see that the SELECT query should return a result set. This is the only query used by the application. Any ideas where I am going wrong?

  I'm trying to construct a query in NHibernate to return a list of customers with no orders matching a specific criteria. My Customer object contains a set of Orders: <set name="Orders"> <key column="CustomerID" /> <one-to-many class="Order" /> </set> How do I contruct a query using NHibernate's ICriteria API to get a list of all customers who have no orders? Using native SQL, I am able to represent the query like this: select * from tblCustomers c where not exists (select 1 from tblOrders o where c.ID = o.CustomerID) I have been unable to figure out how to do this using aliases and DetatchedCriteria objects. • Can you use POST to run a query in Solr (/select)

  I have queries that I am running against out solr index that sometimes have very long query parameters, I get errors when i run these queries, which i assume are do to the limit of a GET query parameters. Here is the method I use to query (JSON), this is to show I am using the Http Extensions (the client i use is a thin wrapper for HttpClient) not an end to end solution. 90% of the queries run fine, it is just when the params are large i get the 500 error from solr. I have read somewhere you can use POSt's when doing the select command but have not found examples of how to do it.   I got some pretty messy urls that i got via scraping here, problem is that they contain spaces or other special characters in the path and query string, here is some example http://www.example.com/some path/to the/file.html http://www.example.com/some path/?file=path to/file name.png&name=name.me so, is there an easy and robust way to escape the urls so that i can pass them to urlopen? i tried urlib.quote, but it seems to escape the '?', '&', and '=' in the query string as well, and it seems to escape the protocol as well, currently, what i am trying to do is use regex to separate the protocol, path name, and query string and escape them separately, but there are cases where they arent separated properly any advice is appreciated

  I've got a site where users follow users they like and can read their latest updates. I'd like to show my users a simple count of how many comments the people they follow have posted in the last 24 hours. I'm having trouble figuring out the query. I have two tables. comment -cid (comment id) -timestamp -uid (id of person who posted the comment) -comment (content of the comment) user_relationships -requester_id (id of the user who followed the person) -requestee_id (id of the person who was followed) In plain english, I think the query is something like this: COUNT the cid.comment from the comments table where uid.comment is equal to requestee_id.user_relationships associated with requester_id.user_relationships value of X. I need to get all the UIDs of people being followed by a given UID from the user_relationship table. Then count up how many comments those people have posted in the last 24 hours and spit that number out. What would this query look like?

  I am new to SQL Server Report Builder 2.0 and I need to compare two different databases in one query. Basically I need to check if values from one database table exist in a different database's table. I know I can add multiple Datasources to my report and access each one with Subreports, but each DataSet that I create can only have one query in it. So how can I go about using one query to access two databases? Or if there is another way to somehow join my results from multiple DataSets, that would work too. Also, the databases are on the same server.

  class Person{ @Persistent private List tags = ArrayList() } I want to let the user query a person based on his/her tag, so I had my query filter like this: tags.contains(tagValue1) and if the user want to search for multiple tags, I would just add to the filter so if the user is searching for 3 tags, then the query would be tags.contains(tagValue1) && tags.contains(tagValue2) && tags.contains(tagValue3) I think this approach is wrong, because the datastore then needs to have an index that have the tags property three times... and if the user search for more than 3 tags at a time then it will be broken. What's the proper way to do this? Do you guys have any suggestions?

  Hello I've been tasked with doing a few queries on a large SQL Server 2000 database. The query I'm having trouble with is "find the number of people between ages 20 and 40" How would I do this? My previous query to get a count of everyone looks like this: select count(rid) from people where ... (with the ... being irrelevant conditions). I've googled some but the only thing I've found for calculating age is so large that I don't see how to embed it into a query, or it is a stored procedure which I do not have the permissions to create. Can someone help me with this?
