• Allowing asterisk in URL - ASP.NET MVC 2 - .NET 4.0 or encoding

  I'm having a trouble allowing asterisk (*) in the URL of my website. I am running ASP.NET MVC 2 and .NET 4.0. Here's an example that describes the problem: http://mysite.com/profile/view/Nice* The username is Nice* and ASP.NET says there are illegal characters in the URL: Illegal characters in path. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path. I have tried all the Web.config methods I've seen online such as: <pages validateRequest="false"> and <httpRuntime requestPathInvalidCharacters="" requestValidationMode="2.0" /> So my question is: Is it possible to allow asterisk in URL? If not, is there some encoding method in .NET that can encode asterisk(*) ? Thanks!

• UpdatePanel, Repeater, DataBinding Problem

  In a user control, I've got a Repeater inside of an UpdatePanel (which id displayed inside of a ModalPopupExtender. The Repeater is databound using an array list of MyDTO objects. There are two buttons for each Item in the list. Upon binding the ImageURL and CommandArgument are set. This code works fine the first time around but the CommandArgument is wrong thereafter. It seems like the display is updated correctly but the DTO isn't and the CommandArgument sent is the one that has just been removed. Can anybody spot any problems with the code? • Report Viewer problem after moving to new server

  I have just moved a site from a Windows 2003, IIS6 SQL 2005 server to a new one with Windows 2008, IIS7 and SQL 2008. I am having problems with the Report Viewer. I have installed the Report Viewer Re-distributable (I've tried 2005, 2005sp, 2008 and 2008sp) I've Mapped a handler in IIS for Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd to type Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler, Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a However whenever I run a report on the website I get the following error message: Could not load type 'Microsoft.Reporting.Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler' from assembly 'Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'Microsoft.Reporting.Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler' from assembly 'Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'. I am stumped. Any ideas?

And why in SQL Server i am allowed to see ShoppingPlaceID and ShoppingPlace_ShopingPlaceID when in the case of Item and Category i see only one?

• Bing Maps - how to link to a push pin from a link outside the map

  I have a Virtual Earth Maps (Bing Maps??) to which I have added a set of pushpins. Each pushpin is labelled 1 to n. In addition to adding pushpins to the map, I also add text to the web-page that contains the description to each pushpin. I would like to add a link to the text outside the map, that when clicked will open the balloon associated with the corresponding pushpin. How do I open the balloon associated with a pushpin, through a link that exists outside the map? To get a better understanding, look at my map: link. When you click load, PushPins are added to the map. I would like to have a link from the list on the right of the map, that opens the corresponding PushPin. Thanks in advance!

• Struts2 + Sitemesh + Freemarker doesn't work

  I've tried following every example i ccould find and i can't get struts2 + sitemesh + freemarker to work on a simple jsp. I have a very simple web.xml, a single action that just goes to index.jsp, and a simple .ftl decorator that just adds some text to the result. • Download HTML and Images with WGet without first few lines

  I'm attempting to use wget with the -p option to download specific documents and the images linked in the HTML. The problem is, the site that is hosting the HTML has some non-html information preceding the HTML. This is causing wget to not interpret the document as HTML and doesn't search for images. Is there a way to have wget strip the first X lines and/or force searching for images?   I have created a nonconsumable in app purchase item and now I want to create a consumable in-app purchase by which a user to buy it every time he uses it,and also I want to create a subscription model In-App purchase. Everything works as expected except when I buy the item more than one time, iPhone pop ups a message saying "You've already purchased the item. Do You want to buy it again?". In CSV or Excel format--i.e. I don't want to access it via API. Something like books or movies with title and description fields would be perfect.   I have a DevXpress ASPXGridview, and I am using ObjectDataSource for custom paging. • VS2010 - Add template to New Project window

  I am trying to add a new project template for an often used pattern. Starting from the class library template I have done the following (it still does not show up in the new project window): opened the .vstemplate file changed name and description to 'hard coded' values (my template). The values in there pulled from the csharpui.dll resources. changed the TemplateID, DefaultName, and ProjectItems included. saved these to the ProjectemplatesCache folder and as a zip in the ProjectTemplates folder. restarted VS2010 and checked the new project location which should have shown my new template. specifically, the folders I saved to were.. C:\program files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplatesCache\CSharp\Windows\1033\HostComm.zip (the zip is the folder name, not a zip file) and C:\program files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Windows\1033 (this folder has a HostComm.zip file in it) Has anyone else done this? Can it be done? If it can then what did I miss?

• Map a column to be IDENTITY in db with EF4 Code-Only

  Although I have marked my ID column with .Identity(), the generated database schema doesn't have IDENTITY set to true, which gives me problems when I'm adding records. If I manually edit the database schema (in SQL Management Studio) to have the Id column marked IDENTITY, everything works as I want it - I just can't make EF do that by itself. • Reading custom values in Ebay RSS feed (XML::RSS module)

  I've spent entirely way too long trying to figure this out. I'm using XML:RSS and Perl to read / parse an Ebay RSS feed. Within the area, I see these entries: 1395 1255 However, I can't figure out how to grab the details during the loop. I wrote a regex to grab them: @current_price = $item =~ m/\(\d+)\<\/rx\:CurrentPrice/g; which works if you place the above 'CurrentPrice' entry into a standalone string, but not while the script is reading through the RSS feed. I can grab most of the information I want out of the item-description area (# bids, auction end time, BIN price, thumbnail image, etc), but it would be nicer if I could grab the info from the feed without me having to deal with grabbing all that information manually. If anybody knows how to grab custom fields from an RSS feed (short of writing regexes to parse the entire feed w/o a module), any help / insight would be appreciated.

  First, I am NOT a python developer. I am trying to fix an issue within a python script that is being executed from the command line. This script was written by someone who is no longer around, and no longer willing to help with issues. This is python 2.5, and for the moment it cannot be upgraded. Here are the lines of code in question: start_time = datetime.strptime(str(paf.Start),"%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S") dict_start = datetime(*start_time[:6]) end_time = datetime.strptime(str(paf.End),"%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S") dict_end = datetime(*end_time[:6]) When this code is ran, it generates an error with the description: 'datetime.datetime' object is unsubscriptable. This is the import statement: from datetime import datetime I have a feeling that this is something simple, but not being my native language and Google not yielding any valuable results, I am stuck. I have tried a couple of different import methods, yielding different errors, but all with these statements. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

• SVN access denied when comparing revisions

  We're using an SVN repository. I am getting the error below when we try to compare a local unmodified file with the latest revision of the file in the repository. In other words, someone's checked in a change and if I update I will get their change but first I want to see what their change was. DOn't think it matters but we're using Xcode and using the menu item SCM - Compare With - Latest. Error: 220001 (Item is not readable) Description: Unreadable path encountered; access denied Any pointers where to look to fix this appreciated. I looked in the svnserve.conf which has the default settings. Nothing jumped out to me. Also, % svn log returns "svn: Item is not readable". Thanks, Gonzalo

• Inline editing of ManyToMany relation in Django

  After working through the Django tutorial I'm now trying to build a very simple invoicing application. I want to add several Products to an Invoice, and to specify the quantity of each product in the Invoice form in the Django admin. Now I've to create a new Product object if I've got different quantites of the same Product. • XCode and SVN Error: 200019

  So, I haven't been in an XCode project on this machine since last summer, and now when I try to access the repo through SCM Configuration in preferences I get the following error: Error: 200019 (Incompatible library version) Description: Mismatched RA version for 'http': found 1.6.2, expected 1.6.5 I know at some point I updated my subversion client through MacPorts and is probably the cause of the problem. So I located all the svn programs on my path and replaced them with symlinks to the /opt/local/bin/svn client thinking that would do it (note that /usr/bin/svn --version yielded the same error message as XCode. Somehow XCode (3.2.1) is still pointing to some older 1.6.2 files. Can someone point me in the right direction on getting XCode svn integration cleaned up?

• Dynamically generate PDF and email it using django

  I have a django app that dynamically generates a PDF (using reportlab + pypdf) from user input on an HTML form, and returns the HTTP response with an application/pdf MIMEType. I want to have the option between doing the above, or emailing the generated pdf, but I cannot figure out how to use the EmailMessage class's attach(filename=None, content=None, mimetype=None) method. The documentation doesn't give much of a description of what kind of object content is supposed to be. I've tried a file object and the above application/pdf HTTP response. I currently have a workaround where my view saves a pdf to disk, and then I attach the resulting file to an outgoing email using the attach_file() method. This seems wrong to me, and I'm pretty sure there is a better way.

  I've been trying to see if I can accomplish some requirements with a document based database, in this case CouchDB. Two generic requirements: CRUD of entities with some fields which have unique index on it ecommerce web app like eBay (better description here). And I'm begining to think that a Document-based database isn't the best choice to address these requirements. Furthermore, I can´t imagine a use for a Document based database (maybe my imagination is too little). Can you explain me if I am asking pears to an elm when I try to use a Document based database for this requirements?

  If you take a look at http://www.texample.net/tikz/examples/boxes-with-text-and-math/ the boxes there are with rounded corners. In the examples, both the box itself and the title is a box. I want the title box to not have the bottom corners rounded. On page 120 in the manual, there is a description of how to draw with and without rounded corners. However, I want to use this in a fancytitle. I installed IIS7 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and added these two application to my default website. I am having a number of problems so im hoping one of you can help out... 1) The silverlight and WCF service applications do not work with pass-through authentication. I need to "connect as" the administrator server account when setting up the application. I read online that you should only need to use the "connect as" field when you are connecting to another computer. If i dont supply the admin credentials i get this error.
