• PHP Object References in Frameworks

  Before I dive into the disscusion part a quick question; Is there a method to determine if a variable is a reference to another variable/object? For example $foo = 'Hello World'; $bar = &$foo; echo (is_reference($bar) ? 'Is reference' : 'Is orginal'; I have been using PHP5 for a few years now (personal use only) and I would say I am moderately reversed on the topic of Object Orientated implementation. However the concept of Model View Controller Framework is fairly new to me. I have looked a number of tutorials and looked at some of the open source frameworks (mainly CodeIgnitor) to get a better understanding how everything fits together. I am starting to appreciate the real benefits of using this type of structure. I am used to implementing object referencing in the following technique. class Foo{ public $var = 'Hello World!'; } class Bar{ public function __construct(){ global $Foo; echo $Foo->var; } } $Foo = new Foo; $Bar = new Bar; I was surprised to see that CodeIgnitor and Yii pass referencs of objects and can be accessed via the following method: $this->load->view('argument') The immediate advantage I can see is a lot less code and more user friendly. But I do wonder if it is more efficient as these frameworks are presumably optimised? Or simply to make the code more user friendly? This was an interesting article Do not use PHP references.

• How to remove the hint in the terminal?

  As a normal user , when I run some command like ps\netstat, the terminal hint me: (Not all processes could be identified, non-owned process info will not be shown, you would have to be root to see it all.) I know could redirect STDERR to /dev/null can remove this hint. But I want to know is there any way to remove it , such as edit some configuration files ?   Cross referencing figure and table captions is useful while editing a document but can become confude when copying and pasting between large documents. I need to pass my document to a colleague who will collate my document with others and has requested that I remove or delete any cross referencing so that my "correct" cross references do not interfere or get interfered with by any other cross references that may be in my colleagues master collated document. My document will be cut and pasted into the master and no further complicated instructions after that point will be tolerated by my colleague. Is there a simple way to convert my cross references to simple text? I am using microsoft word 2013.

Why would automongobackup report connection errors, even tho it does create the dump files, yet a straight call to mongodump does not? I would like a book that describes what architecture is as a discipline and explores standard design patterns, and some do's and don'ts. Do you have any recommendations? Building worked fine when using VS2005 + MSBuild 3.5 Any help would be highly appreciated. I tried building the upgraded project with MSBuild v3.5, but that doesn't work either. It complains about unknown NoWarn codes (probably new in 4.0).

  Hi, I have a problem with a databinding in WPF. When I try to use a value converter and set the NotifyOnTargetUpdated=True property to True, I get an XamlParseException with the following message: 'System.Windows.Data.BindingExpression' value cannot be assigned to property 'Contenu' of object 'View.UserControls.ShadowedText'. Value cannot be null. Parameter name: textToFormat Error at object 'System.Windows.Data.Binding' in markup file 'View.UserControls;component/saletotal.xaml' Line 363 Position 95. The binding is pretty standard: <my:ShadowedText Contenu="{Binding Path=Total, Converter={StaticResource CurrencyToStringConverter}, NotifyOnTargetUpdated=True}" TargetUpdated="MontantTotal_TargetUpdated"> </my:ShadowedText> (Styling properties removed for conciseness) The converter exists in the resources and works correctly when NotifyOnTargetUpdated=True is removed. • Running multiple image manipulations in parallel causing OutOfMemory exception

I am finding that if this part of code is hit by 4 threads at once I get an OutOfMemory exception. I can stop this happening by wrapping all the code above in a lock(obj) but this isn't ideal. I have tried wrapping just the first using block (where the file is read from disk and split) but I still get the out of memory exceptions (this part of the code executes quite quickly). I this normal considering the amount of memory this should be taking up? Are there any optimisations I could make? Can I increase the memory available?   I am building an event system that posts data to a google calendar. I am using jquery 1.4.2, fullcalendar 1.4.5, and asp.net MVC 2. I am using a jquery ui modal dialog for the entry system. • Unable to launch onscreen keyboard (osk.exe) from a 32-bit process on Win7 x64

  90% of the time I am unable to launch osk.exe from a 32bit process on Win7 x64. Originally the code was just using: Process.Launch("osk.exe"); Which won't work on x64 because of the directory virtualization. Not a problem I thought, I'll just disable virtualization, launch the app, and enable it again, which I thought was the correct way to do things. Can anyone spot where I'm doing something wrong, or provide an alternative solution for this? It seems to work fine launching Notepad, it just won't play ball with the onscreen keyboard.

• XmlException - inserting attribute gives "unexpected token" exception

  Hi, I have an XmlDocument object in C# that I transform, using XslTransform, to html. In the stylesheet I insert an id attribute in a span tag, taking the id from an element in the XmlDocument. Here is the template for the element: <xsl:template match="word"> <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> </xsl:template> But then I want to process the result document as an xhtml document (using the XmlDocument dom). So I'm taking a selected element in the html, creating a range out of it, and try to load the element using XmlLoad(): wordElem.LoadXml(range.htmlText); But this gives me the following exception: "'598' is an unexpected token. The expected token is '"' or '''. Line 1, position 10." And if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see the tags for the element, and the "id" shows without quotes, which confuses me (i.e.SPAN id=598 instead of SPAN id="598"). To confuse the matter further, if I insert a blank space or something like that in the value of the id in the stylesheet, it works fine, i.e.: <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:text> </xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> (Notice the whitespace in the xsl:text element). Now if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see an id with quotes as usual in attributes (and as it shows if I open the html file in notepad or something). What is going on here? Why can't I insert an attribute this way and have a result that is acceptable as xhtml for XmlDocument to read? I feel I am missing something fundamental, but all this surprises me, since I do this sort of transformations using xsl:attribute to insert attributes all the time for other types of xsl transformations. Why doesn't XmlDocument accept this value? By the way, it doesn't matter if it is an id attribute. i have tried with the "class" attribute, "style" etc, and also using literal values such as "style" and setting the value to "color:red" and so on. The compiler always complains it is an unvalid token, and does not include quotes for the value unless there is a whitespace or something else in there (linebreaks etc.). I hope I have provided enough information. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Basically, what I want to accomplish is set an id in a span element in html, select a word in a webbrowser control with this document loaded, and get the id attribute out of the selected element. I've accomplished everything, and can actually do what I want, but only if I use regex e.g. to get the attribute value, and I want to be able to use XmlDocument instead to simply get the value out of the attribute directly. • WCF web service Data Members defaulting to null

  I am new to WCF and created a simple REST service to accept an order object (series of strings from XML file), insert that data into a database, and then return an order object that contains the results. To test the service I created a small web project and send over a stream created from an xml doc. The problem is that even though all of the items in the xml doc get placed into the stream, the service is nullifying some of them when it receives the data. For example lineItemId will have a value but shipment status will show null. I step through the xml creation and verify that all the values are being sent. • JPopupMenu returning a null?

  Ok so I'm working on an Eclipse plugin based on the JGraph example. The problem is I can't really get the "save" method to work, here's how the program works in short: - I have a DiagramEditor class with an init() method, where I create a GraphEditor object and call the createFrame() methord of that object. - GraphEditor extends the BasicGraphEditor (which extends JPanel), the createFrame() method returns a JFrame and has a line "frame.setJMenuBar(menuBar)" - the "menuBar" is an object variable, which is initialized in the BasicGraphEditor. Till here everything is cool, the problem is with the action listener which is supposed to save a file. To get the graph I need to get the GraphEditor component, so I do a Component component = (Component) e.getSource() whitch is the ActionEvent passed to that action listener and at that stage is the JMenuItem "save", then I get the parent which is the JPopupMenu, then I want to get that JPopupMenu's parent which should be the GraphEdiotor, but instead I get a null. Any idea why? I am getting an exception as "Service 'MyServiceLibrary.NameDecorator' has zero application (non-infrastructure) endpoints.
