• Boot from Ubuntu ISO on a hfsplus partition (macbook pro)

  I would like to be able to boot from an ISO stored on an HFS+ partition (the main partition on my macbook pro). Here is what I've done so far: (writing in shorthand :D) grub> insmod hfs,hfsplus,loopback,part_gpt grub> loopback loop (hd0,gpt2)/location/to/img.io grub> configfile (loop)/boot/grub/loopback.cfg ... This does not work. tab-complete of the (loop) path does not work... However, this does work (tab-complete and all) if the iso comes from my ext3 partition. For particular reasons, I can't have the iso images on the ext3 partition, they need to be kept on the hfs+ partition. What should be done?

• How to Navigate Directly From One Table to Another in Word 2013

  Jumping to a specific page in Word is a common task and easy to do using the Find and Replace dialog box. You can also use this same tab to jump from one table directly to the next table in your document. Your cursor does not have to be in a table to jump to the next table. Put the cursor in any paragraph or table and press F5 or use the Ctrl + G keystroke combination to open the Find and Replace dialog box. The Go To tab is automatically selected. Select Table from the Go to what list and click Next. The next table in your document is selected and the Find and Replace dialog box stays open.

• bmp image header doubts

  Hi Guys, I'm doing a project where I have to make use of the pixel information of a bmp image. So, I'm gathering the image information by reading the header information of the input .bmp image. I'm quite successful with everything but one thing bothers me, can any one here clarify it? The header information of my .bmp image is as follows (My test image is very tiny and gray scale)- BMP File header File size 1210 Offset information 1078 BMP Information header Image Header Size 40 Image Size 132 Image width 9 Image height 11 Image bits_p_p 8 So, from the .bmp header I see that the image size is 132 (bytes) but when I multiply the width and height it is only 99, how is such a thing possible? I'm confident with 132 bytes because when I subtract the Offset value with the File Size value, I get 132(1210 - 1078 = 132) and also when I manually count the number of bytes (In a HEX editor) from the point 1078 or 436h (End of the offset field), there are exactly 132 bytes of pixel information. So, why is there a disparity between the size filed and the (width x height)? My future implementations are dependent on the image width and height information and not on Image size information. So, I have to understand thoroughly whats going on here. My understanding of the header should be clearly wrong... I guess!!! Help!!! • Responsive Design for your ADF Faces Web Applications

  Responsive web applications are a common pattern for designing web pages that adjust their UI based on the device that access them. With the increase in the number of ADF applications that are being accessed from mobile phones and tablet we are getting more and more questions around this topic. Steven Davelaar wrote a comprehensive article covering key concepts in this area that you can find here. The article focuses on what I would refer to as server adaptive application, where the server adapts the UI it generates based on the device that is accessing the server. However there is one more technique that is not covered in that article and can be used with Oracle ADF - it is CSS manipulation on the client that can achieve responsive design. I'll cover this technique in this blog entry. The main advantage of this technique is that the UI manipulation does not require the server to send over a new UI when a change is needed. This for example allows your page to change immediately when you change the orientation of your device. (By the way this example was developed for one of the seminars in the upcoming Oracle ADF OTN Virtual Developer Day). In the demo that you'll see below you'll see a single page that changes the way it is displayed based on the orientation of the device. Here is the page with the tablet in landscape and portrait: To achieve this I'm using a CSS media query in my page template that changes the display property of a couple of style classes that are used in my page. • Static Application Switcher is empty after show dekstop

  Im using the Static Application Switcher to configure my ALT + TAB to cycle trough all applications not grouped. So far so good. Then I press Super + D to "hide all normal windows" (show desktop). This setting is from Keyboard - Shortcuts - Navigation. This also works BUT After hide all normal windows has been activated and I press ALT + TAB nothing comes up. I suspect they have been hidden so well that the Application Switcher does not longer sees them. Anyone know if this can be fixed trough settings somewhere?

• Preserving Bitmap values when creating a new Bitmap from System.Drawing.Image

  I'm trying to create a resized image from a bitmap, set a new height/width and a new resolution and save it to PNG. I can do this either from directly A) Image.FromFile(filename) or B) New Bitmap(imageSource) to create the the A Bitmap to be passed to B. Both work okay schmokay, but A does not allow me to set a new width/height on creation (but it does allow me to preserve values with useIcm=True) and B does not allow me to preseve values. Okay, now on to some code and examples: Dim sourceBitmap As New Bitmap(imagePath & myImage1Name) <-not good at all (#1 overload). Doesn't preserve things like HorizontalResolution or PixelFormat on .Save Dim sourceBitmap2 As Bitmap = Image.FromFile(imagePath & myImage1Name, True) <-not good (#5 overload). it does preserve things like HorizontalResolution or PixelFormat on .Save, but it doesn't allow me to initialize image at a new size. Dim targetBitmap As New Bitmap(sourceBitmap2, newWidth, newHeight) <-not good. Even though sourceBitmap2 (see #2 above) was initialized with useIcm=True, it doesn't matter once I've passed it in as the source in targetBitmap. Basically, I'm looking for a way to contruct a New Bitmap with both something like useIcm=True and set the width/height at the same time (Width/Height are read-only properties once it's created). I've gone down the Graphics.DrawImage route as well and it's the same - Graphics.FromImage(sourceBitmap) does not preserve values. Why do I need these values to be preserved? Because I need to convert these pictures to PNG (for file size) with a new resolution and keep the same physical dimensions (w/h in inches) for printing. I know the new pixel width/height needed based on the resolution values I'll pass in with .SetResolution(xDpi,yDpi) to preserve physical dimensions, so that's not the problem. The issue is things like the PixelFormatSize need to remain unchanged (yes, I've tried EncoderParameters - they don't work. I can give you the gory details if you like, but suffice it to say for now, they just don't work). Whew, got that off my chest! Okay, anyone who really knows how all this works can help?

• How to use the Value of a Selected Value from a DropDownList populated with AJAX/PHP

  Hi, I have form with two dropdownlists (lets say A and B). When I select a value from A, B is being populated accordingly using AJAX In the same page I have a button, that when pressed, posts the values of the selected items of the dropdownlists to another PHP page. The problem I am having is that the selected value of B is returned as Blank/Empty. Is there a way to store the selected value of a dropdownlist populated using AJAX?   For 13.10, I used this guide to get Intel iGPU-supported playback of flash videos in Firefox: http://www.webupd8.org/2013/09/adobe-flash-player-hardware.html All in all, Intel graphics acceleration for flash content was working just fine in 13.10, at least on my machine (with Xubuntu). I basically followed the guide to do the same for 14.04, but about 2-3 weeks ago flash videos started acting up. Whenever I have one instance of flash paused or stopped in one tab and go to the next tab to continue some song on Soundcloud or something, it's game over. I'm clueless as to what I can do here. Did anything change in the meantime?

• Why is my laptop so sluggish? Or Damn You Facebook and Twitter! Or All Hail Chrome!

  In the past three weeks, I've noticed that my laptop (dual core 2.1GHz, 2Gb RAM) has become amazingly sluggish.  I only uses for communications and data lookup workflows, so the slowness was tolerable.  But today I finally got fed up with the suckyness and decided to get to the root of the problem (I do have strong performance roots after all). It actually didn't take all that long to figure it out.  About a year ago I converted to Google Chrome (away from FireFox).  One of the great tools Chrome has is a "Task Manager" tool, that gives you Windows Task Manager like details for all the tabs open in the browser (Shift + Esc).  Since every tab runs in its own process, its easy from Task Manager (both Windows or Chrome) to identify and kill a single performance offending tab.  This is unlike IE, where you only get aggregate data about all tabs open.  Anyway, I digress.  Today my laptop sucked.  Windows Task Manager told me that I had two memory hogging Chrome tabs, but couldn't tell me which web page those tabs are showing.  Enter Chrome Task Manager which tells you the page title, along with CPU, memory and network utilization of each tab.  Enter my amazement.  Turns out Facebook was using just shy of half a Gb of RAM.  Half a Gigabyte!  That's 512 Megabytes!524,288 Kilobytes! 536,870,912 Bytes!  Or 4,294,967,296 Bits!  In other words, that's a frackin boat load of memory.  Now consider that Facebook is running on pretty much 96.3% (statistics based on absolutely nothing) of every house hold desktop, laptop, netbook, and mobile device in America, that is pretty horrific! And I wasn't playing any Facebook games like FarmWars or MafiaVille.  I just had my normal, default home page up showing me who just had breakfast, or just got finished with their morning run. I'm sorry...let me say that again...HALF A GIG OF RAM!  That is just unforgivable. I can just see my mom calling me up:  Mom: "John...I think I need a new computer.  Mine is really slow these days" John: "What do you have running?" Mom: "Oh, just Facebook" John: "Ok, close Facebook and tell me how fast your computer feels" Mom: "Well...I don't know how fast it is.  All I do is use Facebook" John: "Ok Mom, I'll send you a new computer by Tuesday" Oh yea...and the other offending web page?  It was Twitter, using a quarter of a Gigabyte. God I love social networks!

• Blackberry ListField Text Wrapping - only two lines.

  Within my ListField, I want to be able to take any given long String, and just be able to wrap the first line within the width of the screen, and just take the remaining string and display it below and ellipsis the rest. Is there a better way to do this sort of thing, since I am fresh out of ideas?

• Make Div overlay ENTIRE page (not just viewport)??

  Hello, So I have a problem that I think is quite common but I have yet to find a good solution for. I want to make an overlay div cover the ENTIRE page... NOT just the viewport. I don't understand why this is so hard to do... I've tried setting body, html heights to 100% etc but that isn't working.   This week we wrapped up a set of work to improve the actions and navigation within the project tabs. Now each tab in a project has a more consistent interaction experience. The navigation and filter activities are on the left side and action based links on the right. • How can I assign actions to all my mouse buttons?

  I have a mouse with lots of buttons, but it's not a mainstream make like Logitech. For Windows, I have a driver that lets me assign actions like close-window (Ctrl+W) or next-tab (Ctrl+Tab), but I don't have a Linux driver. Since Linux is so flexible, I thought perhaps there is a general way to do this, regardless of brand? Update: Based on input from Cyrex, I installed and ran sudo apt-get install btnx which found several but not all mouse buttons. Found: left, right, wheel, wheelclick, thumb fwd, thumb back. Not found: wheel left, wheel right, thumb middle button. Vendor ID is 0x04d9, Model ID is 0xa015.

• Why does terminal auto complete sometimes not suggest anything?

  Sometimes, when I type a command on the terminal, the terminal's autocomplete does not work, even if my command is not wrong. For example, take look to this: sudo service vsftpd status sudo and service do not have any problem. I mean, when you type sud +tab terminal suggest you sudo or I type servi + tab terminal complete that to service. But for vsftpd I do not get any suggestion. Is there a way to say, "terminal, please tell me any suggestion!!?".

• Why must I restart for HDMI audio?

  I have a System76 Lemur Ultra laptop, which has an HDMI port. When I plug in the HDMI cable, it is recognized immediately for video, but not for audio, i.e., it does not show up in the Output tab of the Sound Settings dialog. However, if I do a full restart with the cable plugged in, then it does show up and can be selected. I've also discovered that manually killing and restarting pulseaudio with the HDMI plugged in will force it to be recognized as an available audio output. So my question is, what is broken here? I've thought about writing a bug in launchpad, but I don't know which component is malfunctioning. Is it the kernel? ALSA? Pulse Audio? Something else? By the way, the same bug seems to exist in reverse, namely if I disconnect the HDMI, it is still listed in the Output tab until I again restart the OS. This is 12.04 LTS.

  Hi, I am all in favor of CSS based layouts, but this one I just can't figure out. I have looked through many examples (and "holy grails") of liquid and table less three-column CSS based layouts, but I have not found one which is not using some kind of margin-left for the middle column ("Content"). Any margin-left will suck once "Left" is gone as "Content" will just stay at it's place. I'm just about to switch to old school table based layout for this problem, so I'm hoping someone has some idea - I don't care about excess markup, wrappers and the like, I would just like to know how to solve this with plain CSS. Btw: look at how easy equal height columns are... Cheers PS: No CSS3 please

• Ubuntu One Preferences does not show usage, name, e-mail, current plan

  Ubuntuone is correctly synchronizing selected files between two computers running Ubuntu 10.10. When I open Ubuntuone Preferences, Account tab, on one computer it does not display the usage, name e-mail or current plan. On the other computer all information is shown correctly. On the Devices tab the 2 computers are not shown. They do show correctly on the other computer. Any ideas on how to fix this problem. I have reinstalled Ubuntuone per this link.

• Connecting Galaxy Note: Unable to mount Android Error initializing camera: -53: Could not claim the USB device

  I'm running cm9 ics on my Galaxy Note and i tried anything i could find googleing around but to no result, if i look on the phone in usb settings there is the option for mass storage but it's grey and therefore not selectable I don`t know what the problem is but i saw somwhere that it might be an old version of libmtp so i tried to install libmtp 1.1.3 with ./configure make make install but even after when i try mtp-detect it gives me libmtp 1.1.1 is it normal? anyway when i run mtp-detect here is what it gives me libmtp version: 1.1.1 Listing raw device(s) Device 0 (VID=04e8 and PID=6860) is a Samsung GT-P7310/P7510/N7000/I9100/Galaxy Tab 7.7/10.1/S2/Nexus/Note. • Mouse clicks automatically / Raton hace clicks automaticos

  Good day friends, my problem is that my mouse clicks automatically and is getting on my nerves. I tried to do the solutioned mentioned here: Press Alt + F2 and type gnome-mouse-properties then press Enter. Go to Accessibility tab and uncheck the option "Initiate click when stopping..." but my problem is that the Accessibility tab is not there. Buenos dias amigo tengo el problema de que mi raton da clicks automaticos y me fasidia mucho intente hacer la solucion que tu diste aqui. Haga clic en Alt + F2 y poner gnome-mouse-properties y pulsa enter. Ir a la accesibilidad y desmarque la opción "iniciar haga clic en ..." pero mi problema es q no me aparese la pestaña de accesibilidad me podrias ayudar porfavor
