• "Dictionary problem." Error with VMPlayer

  I'm pretty new to using vmware virtualization (been a virtualbox user) so I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I recently got an external usb disk containing a vm for a client, downloaded vmplayer, set it up with "Open a Virtual Machine", ran it, easy as pie. After working with it a bit this morning, I shut the VM down and now trying to start it back up again I get this: I tried removing the vm from my library, now it happens whenever I try to add it back in. In the meantime, I can still access other virtual machines so it seems like the problem might be with the virtual disk. So two questions: This is obviously not a very helpful error message. Where can I go to get more information? My Application EventLog doesn't contain anything from VMWare. What steps can I take to fix the problem? Edit: A couple more pieces of information. I did not take any snapshots. I don't think VM Player even has that ability. I have a zip file of (what I assume) is the state of the VM when it was sent to me. I cannot unzip it as it is huge and simply requires more HD space than I have available but I did extract the vmx file and examine it. Other than the UUIDs and the fact that mine reads cleanShutdown = "FALSE" they are identical. • Cant ping ip on LAN. Port forward works fine though.

  I have a Solaris 11 machine running inside the LAN. It is a default install. I can access the machine and ping it if I ssh into my router (if it matters, it is running dd-wrt). I cannot ping the Solaris machine using ip address from any other machine inside the LAN. But if I setup port forwarding everything works perfectly fine. I can also use the port forward from outside the LAN (from my office) - which is good and how I want it to be. I can SSH and ping and do pretty much everything else from outside as well as inside but only as long as I have the port forwarded from my router. Why would I not be able to ping or ssh or even access the Solaris 11 machine from within the LAN - I have checked and couldn't find any firewall running on the Solaris 11 box. I even tried disabling every known firewall on the router (dd-wrt, it had something like SPI firewall running). I even tried setting a static IP for my Solaris box but all in vain! Please help me understand how and why this happens!! Thanks.

• Is this a legitimate registry key? (windows 7)

  In hkey_local_machine/software/classes I found some registry keys named msime.taiwan, msime.japan and a couple others with similar names, except with a number at the end of, so there was 4 keys altogether. From what I know itmcoulc be associated with a thing in windows that lets you write japanese characters or whatever. I also found a macaffee page, , which seemed dated but it said the key is created by a virus named w32 virut. Just wondering is this a legit key? I found it on another pc and both pcs show when exported to a .txt show it was last written to in 2009. Here is the reg query for the 4 keys. (added lines to differentiate them.) • Intel Motherboard Lightning Victim Dies Hard

  Today, I have a more hardware-related question. I have an Intel board, and I really do not know which board it is, I built the machine for a relative, but he forgot to keep the documentation. Long story short, the computer was disconnected during a lightning storm, but a lightning strike travelled in via the ethernet cable (It was directly connected to a power brick commonly seen on those long distance ISP Wireless transmitters), and the motherboard was shocked. I am attempting to get this PC going. The problem is as follows: The computer will randomly reboot, just in the middle of anything as it pleases. May load to EFI (or whatever BIOS is nowadays), may load to bootloader, may even get to the OS. But before 5 minutes is up, the system will always die. Out of curiosity, I plugged my voltmeter in to a molex connector. On the 5V side, it gets a good, consistant +5.13V. On the 12V side, it fluctuates, as follows: Upon immediate startup, it soars to 12.11-12.13V. It will now do one of two things: it will immediately jump down to 12.04-12.05V, or hover for about a minute at 12.11-12.13, then jump down. It seems the longer the voltage stays at 12.11-12.13, the shorter the machine will stay running. Also, post codes, whenever the machine locks up, but does not die hard, seem to be between "AA" and "AC". Does this make any sense to anybody? Do you all think this motherboard is salvageable? It was an expensive bugger, and I'd prefer to not replace it.

• Why am I unable to mount my USB drive (unknown partition table)?

  I'm a real newbie to linux. Anyway the problem is that my USB doesn't get recognized anymore which is really annoying because I need information from it. I've read like a zillion threads how to manually mount it but I really can't it to work. I hope it's just some easy, stupid problem where any of you could help me out quickly.. • Can't ssh from CentOS 6.5 to SUSE LINUX 10.1

  We have a quite old installation of SUSE LINUX 10.1 (i586) in the office. The problem shortly: I can successfully ssh to it from machines in the same LAN (192.168.1.0) and not from others (that are in 10.23.0.0). The SuSE has SSH server openssh-4.2p1-18.12. I have ruled out the firewall and hosts.allow and hosts.deny files. • Connecting to network device behind NAT from local LAN using the external port and IP

  I noticed at several different LANs connected to the Internet through a NAT the following phenomena. There is a server in the LAN and there is a port forwarding to reach this server also from outside the LAN through the NAT. E.g. consider a LAN with the address 192.168.0.* and a SSH server at 192.168.0.2 with port 22 and a forwarding from port 2222 at the NAT 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.2:22. If the NAT's external IP is 44.33.22.11, one can connect to the SSH server through 44.33.22.11:2222. Surprisingly this works only from outside the LAN. If one tries to connect to 44.33.22.11:2222 from behind the NAT, there is no answer. Of course one could simply use 192.168.0.2:22, but often it is simpler to use the external IP. The typical use case for me is the configuration on a laptop computer. Usually the user uses any arbitrary Internet connection to connect to his home or office server, but sometimes he will use also the LAN to connect to it and it would be annoying to have to different configurations or bookmarks. Why does it fail to connect from inside the LAN? Is there any good work around?

  I have used cpuset to shield some cpus for exclusive use by some realtime threads. • Local traffic through VPN, global traffic through WAN

  I have an issue with my internet connection. I am using VPN (Aventail Client) to access the local resources. When connected to VPN the Internet traffic passes through it, not through my LAN or Wi-Fi network. I would like to change the routing table to use the Wi-Fi adapter of the PC for WAN traffic. I have routing file, which works very well and routes the traffic in this way, but only when I am physically connected to the local network through LAN. But I can't set it to work with the VPN connection, because I have no gateway when I am connected to it. Etc this in bold is missing.   I can't access certain websites neither from my macbook nor from my iphone when connected to my Wifi. The same website can be opened from another windows computer connected to the same Wifi. When I restart Xorg everything is fine again and the problem doesn't occur until next reboot. I tried to upgrade the kernel from stock 2.6.32 to 2.6.39 from unstable repository but that didn't help. Booting with irqpoll option only seems to prolong the initial time period after which the problem occurs. I'm using latest NVIDIA drivers and Realtek firmware from firmware-realtek package. I have two GTX 560Ti that run in SLI. Disabling SLI or taking out one card completely doesn't solve the problem either. • Server 2003 SP2 BSOD caused by fltmgr.sys

  I'm running into a problem where a Server 2003 SP2 box has started crashing roughly once an hour, BSODing out with the message that fltmgr.sys is probably the cause. I ran dumpchk.exe on the memory.dmp file, indicating the same thing. Any thoughts on typical root causes? The following is the error code I'm seeing: Error code 0000007e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 f723e087, parameter3 f78cea8c, parameter4 f78ce788.   Hi, I'm trying the Hello MapView Tutorial at the moment. Whe I launch the program in the emulator, I get a huge number of errors (none of the exceptions seems to be related with lines in my code). Private Sub Command2_Click() Open jobs For Append As #1 Write #1, Combo1, Combo3, Combo2, Text3 Close #1 End Sub I instead would like to write it to the file so that if a persons name is already in the file then it would just put the data in the file, under their that is already there but without the name. I can't figure out how to do this but this is what I would like it to end up like.   I have a DataGridView in a windows form with 3 columns: Serial number, Name, and Date-Time. The Name column will always have either of the two values: "name1" or "name2". I need to sort these columns such that the grid displays all the rows with name values in a specific order (first display all the "name1" rows and then all the "name2" rows). Within the "name1" rows, I want the rows to be sorted by the Date-Time. Please note programmatically, all the 3 columns are strings. • Zlib compression in boost::iostreams not compatible with zlib.NET

  Hello, I want to send compressed data between my C# to a C++ application in ZLIB format. In C++, I use the zlib_compressor/zlib_decompressor available in boost::iostreams. In C#, I am currently using the ZOutputStream available in the zlib.NET library. First of all, when I compress the same data using both libraries, the results look different: boost::iostreams::zlib_compressor: FF 13 49 48 00 00 01 00 01 00 00 00 63 61 60 60 F8 00 C4 C1 25 45 99 79 E9 23 87 04 00 zlib.NET (zlib.ZOutputStream): FF 13 49 48 00 00 01 00 01 00 00 00 78 9C 63 61 60 60 F8 00 C4 C1 25 45 99 79 E9 23 87 04 00 4F 31 63 8D (Note the 78 9C pattern that is present in zlib.NET, but not in boost). Furthermore, when I decompress data in boost that I compressed in zlib.NET, I am not able to read from the stream suggesting something is wrong.
