• Make a PHP GET request from a PHP script and exit

  Hello all, Is there something simpler than the following. I am trying to make a GET request to a PHP script and then exit the current script. I think this is a job for CURL but is there something simpler as I don't want to really worry about enabling the CURL php extension? • FreeText COUNT query on multiple tables is super slow

  I have two tables: **Product** ID Name SKU **Brand** ID Name Product table has about 120K records Brand table has 30K records I need to find count of all the products with name and brand matching a specific keyword. I use freetext 'contains' like this: SELECT count(*) FROM Product inner join Brand on Product.BrandID = Brand.ID WHERE (contains(Product.Name, 'pants') or contains(Brand.Name, 'pants')) This query takes about 17 secs. I rebuilt the FreeText index before running this query. If I only check for Product.Name. They query is less then 1 sec. Same, if I only check the Brand.Name. The issue occurs if I use OR condition. If I switch query to use LIKE: SELECT count(*) FROM Product inner join Brand on Product.BrandID = Brand.ID WHERE Product.Name LIKE '%pants%' or Brand.Name LIKE '%pants%' It takes 1 secs. I read on MSDN that: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187787.aspx To search on multiple tables, use a joined table in your FROM clause to search on a result set that is the product of two or more tables. So I added an INNER JOINED table to FROM: SELECT count(*) FROM (select Product.Name ProductName, Product.SKU ProductSKU, Brand.Name as BrandName FROM Product inner join Brand on product.BrandID = Brand.ID) as TempTable WHERE contains(TempTable.ProductName, 'pants') or contains(TempTable.BrandName, 'pants') This results in error: Cannot use a CONTAINS or FREETEXT predicate on column 'ProductName' because it is not full-text indexed. So the question is - why OR condition could be causing such as slow query?

• UIDs for data objects in MySQL

  Hi there, I am using C++ and MySQL. I have data objects I want to persist to the database. They need to have a unique ID for identification purposes. The question is, how to get this unique ID? Here is what I came up with: 1) Use the auto_increment feature of MySQL. But how to get the ID then? I am aware that MySQL offers this "SELECT LAST_INSERT_ID()" feature, but that would be a race condition, as two objects could be inserted quite fast after each other. Also, there is nothing else that makes the objects discernable. Two objects could be created pretty much at the same time with exactly the same data. 2) Generate the UID on the C++ side. No dice, either. There are multiple programs that will write to and read from the database, who do not know of each other. 3) Insert with MAX(uid)+1 as the uid value. But then, I basically have the same problem as in 1), because we still have the race condition. Now I am stumped. I am assuming that this problem must be something other people ran into as well, but so far, I did not find any answers. Any ideas?

So the question is why does CALL EXECUTE generate %inc problem2 rather than %report1, causing SAS to miss the assignment and what can I do about it?

• Lotus NotesSQL Driver - cannot install

  Hi all, I need to install Lotus NotesSQL Driver (current version is 8.5) onto a virtual machine running XP. Here's what's I've done so far: I retrieved the file (CZOWFEN.zip) from the IBM website. I ran the exe. I then went to My Computer-Properties-Advanced-Environmental Settings-System Variables-Path and added "; c:\notessql" so the ODBC administrator could find Notes.ini (why the setup file didn't do this in the first place, i don't know). I opened up the ODBC administrator and tried to add a new System DSN to a Lotus DB. "The setup routines for the Lotus Notes SQL Driver (*.nsf) ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 126" I redownloaded and reinstalled the driver (making sure I had the latest version 8.5). No luck. I checked the registry. All the file paths appeared to be correct. Per many, many similar cases on the internet, I tried several different variations of adding the various Lotus Notes folders to my PATH variables. Same error. I've done this setup on 5 different machines now with no problem. The only difference here is that this machine is virtual. Ideas?

  I have a problem with an snmpwalk query returning snmp variables in a non-uniform way: .1.3.6.1.2.1.10.127.1.3.3.1.2.215 -> Hex-STRING: 24 37 4C 0C 65 0E .1.3.6.1.2.1.10.127.1.3.3.1.2.216 -> Hex-STRING: 24 37 4C 0B A2 DA .1.3.6.1.2.1.10.127.1.3.3.1.2.217 -> STRING: "$7L f:" .1.3.6.1.2.1.10.127.1.3.3.1.2.218 -> STRING: "$7L k2" As you can see, some variables are of a STRING type, others are Hex-STRING. So, I'm trying to write a simple MIB to force them all come out as Hex-STRING. This is where I've gotten so far: TEST-MIB DEFINITIONS ::= BEGIN PhysAddress ::= TEXTUAL-CONVENTION DISPLAY-HINT "1x:" STATUS current SYNTAX OCTET STRING test OBJECT-TYPE SYNTAX PhysAddresss MAX-ACCESS read-only STATUS current ::= { 1 3 6 1 2 1 10 127 1 3 3 1 2 } END However, snmpwalk doesn't seem to notice my textual convention (even though the "test" variable is being recognized). • Apache + Codeigniter + New Server + Unexpected Errors

  Alright here is the situation: I use to have my codeigniter site at bluehost were I did not have root access, I have since moved that site to rackspace. I have not changed any of the PHP code yet there has been some unexpected behavior. Unexpected Behavior: http://mysite.com/robots.txt Both old and new resolve to the robots file http://mysite.com/robots.txt/ The old bluehost setup resolves to my codeigniter 404 error page. The rackspace config resolves to: Not Found The requested URL /robots.txt/ was not found on this server. **This instance leads me to believe that there could be a problem with my mod rewrites or lack there of. The first one produces the error correctly through php while it seems the second senario lets the server handle this error. The next instance of this problem is even more troubling: 'http://mysite.com/search/term/9 x 1-1%2F2 white/' New site results in: Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Old site results in: The actual page being loaded and the search term being unencoded. I have to assume that this has something to do with the fact that when I went to the new server I went from root level htaccess file to httpd.conf file and virtual server default and default-ssl. • qsub: How can I find out what DRM middleware exactly is installed on a cluster?

  I have a user account on a very big cluster. I have previous experience with Grid Engine and want to use the cluster for array jobs. The documentation tells me to use "qsub" for load balancing / submission of many jobs. Therefore I assumed this means the cluster has Grid Engine. However all my Grid Engine scripts failed to run. I checked the documentation and it is a bit weird. Now I slowly suspect that this cluster does not actually have Grid Engine, maybe it's running something called Torque (?!). The whole terminology in the man pages is a bit weird for me as a Grid Engine user, for example they talk about "bulk jobs" instead of "array jobs". There is no referral to variables on which I rely on, like SGE_TASK_ID etc. Instead they refer to variables starting with PBS_. Still, there are qsub and qstat commands. Also qsub behaves differently, apparently it is not possible to specifiy the command line parameters with bash-script comments etc. There is a documentation for the cluster system, but it does not say what the DRM middleware actually is - it refers to the entire DRM system simply as "qsub". I tried qsub --version qsub: 1.2 2010/8/17 I am not sure what I am actually running when I invoke qsub on that cluster! My question is, how can I find out if I am running Grid Engine or Torque (or whatever it is), and which version?

• Tools for displaying a multidimensional data table?

  [Apologies if this sort of question is off-topic for SuperUser. Please redirect to the right place if so.] There is a 3-dimensional array of values. (That is, instead of a table/2-dimensional array with values in a grid, the values can be thought of in a cube instead.) Is there a way to display this "cube" interactively, ideally on a webpage? Specifically, given the data, it would work something like this: the user selects two of the 3 variables. He then sees a "stack" of tables, one for each value of the third variable (cross-sections, in other words). By selecting the appropriate table from the stack, he can see the (i,j,k) value he wants. The "technology" for displaying such a thing (stacked tables, rotation, etc.) already exists, so this seems the sort of thing that someone ought to have written already. To be clear: I don't need sophisticated graphics necessarily, just the ability to select from cross-sections of variables. But I have no experience with (say, for displaying on a webpage) what web gadgets exist, so I'm clueless how to even search for one. (Google searches like "multidimensional data visualization" didn't throw up anything useful. Google Spreadsheets can do a few kinds of charts which can be embedded on a webpage, but I cannot tell if this is one of them.) [I can imagine how it ought to work for higher dimensions. For four-dimensions, instead of selecting just a stack, you'd first select an (i,j) from an "outer table", which would show all (k,l) values for that (i,j). For higher dimensions, inductively: you select (i,j), and then repeat what you'd do with 2 fewer dimensions.] So has this been written? Is this easy to write? • User authentication -- username mismatch in IIS in ASP.NET application

  Last week, an employee's Active Directory username was changed (or a new one was created for them). For the purposes of this example, let's assume these usernames: Old: Domain\11111 New: Domain\22222 When this user now logs in using their new username, and attempts to browse to any one of a number of ASP.NET applications using only Windows Authentication (no Anonymous enabled), the system authenticates but our next layer of database-driven permissions prevents them from being authorized. We tracked it down to a mismatch of usernames between their logon account and who IIS thinks they are. Below are the outputs of several ASP.NET variables from apps running in a Windows 2008 IIS7.5 environment: Request.ServerVariables["AUTH_TYPE"]: Negotiate Request.ServerVariables["AUTH_USER"]: Domain\11111 Request.ServerVariables["LOGON_USER"]: Domain\22222 Request.ServerVariables["REMOTE_USER"]: Domain\11111 HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name: Domain\11111 System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity.Name: Domain\11111 From the above, I can see that only the LOGON_USER server variable has the correct value, which is the account the user used to log on to their machine. However, we use the "AUTH_USER" variable for looking up the database permissions. In a separate testing environment (completely different server: Windows 2003, IIS6), all of the above variables show "Domain\22222". So this seems to be a server-specific issue, like the credentials are somehow getting cached either on their machine or on the server (the former seems more plausible). So the question is: how do I confirm whether it's the user's machine or the server that is botching the request? How should I go about fixing this? • CMD/ADB - Autorun script to search, copy, and paste a file from android system to flash drive

  I've looked around and can't find anything that answers my question. This is my first question, so any tips or thoughts are welcome, as well as an answer :p As explained in title, i want to create a script that launches, finds a file on android phone, copies it, and pastes it to a flash drive. As of right now, it's a mix of multiple tutorials, trial and error, and I'm at a point of giving up. As of right now, I have a flash drive, loaded with three scripts. What would i need to do now to have the file searched for and copied to the flashdrive? • SWATCH - what am I doing wrong?

  What I want/need/desire is to log when a user logs into my FTP server. Problem: I can't make swatch work the way I should be able to. This data is logged to a file - but of course these logs are not kept very long. I can't keep the logs around forever, but I can extract data from then, analyze it, store results elsewhere. If there is a better way to do this than the following, I'm all ears. • Tuning up a MySQL server

  I inherited a mysql server, and so I've started with running the MySQLTuner.pl script. I am not a MySQL expert but I can see that there is definitely a mess here. I'm not looking to go after every single thing that needs fixing and tuning, but I do want to grab the major, low hanging fruit. Total Memory on the system is: 512MB. Yes, I know it's low, but it's what we have for the time being. Here's what the script had to say: General recommendations: Run OPTIMIZE TABLE to defragment tables for better performance MySQL started within last 24 hours - recommendations may be inaccurate Enable the slow query log to troubleshoot bad queries When making adjustments, make tmp_table_size/max_heap_table_size equal Reduce your SELECT DISTINCT queries without LIMIT clauses Increase table_cache gradually to avoid file descriptor limits Your applications are not closing MySQL connections properly Variables to adjust: query_cache_limit (> 1M, or use smaller result sets) tmp_table_size (> 16M) max_heap_table_size (> 16M) table_cache (> 64) innodb_buffer_pool_size (>= 326M) For the variables that it recommends that I adjust, I don't even see most of them in the mysql.cnf file. My initial thought was to use the \domaincontroller\sysvol\ directory to store the binary and then update all user accounts to include a call to my application. Can you see any flaws in this approach? My question is this: First, is there anything wrong with my idea above? Second, if so, what is the best way (through group policy or otherwise) to ensure this application launches whenever a session is started on a server?

• Is is possible to guide installation of new programs using %ProgramFiles%? [closed]

  The purpose of this is to have the default "program files" (32 and 64 bit) folders located under an arbitrary path, possibly on a drive separate from where windows lives. Initially I thought that this may be done using a system environment variable through the dialog located under Control Panel - System - Advanced - Environment Variables. These variables turned out to be set in the registry under the key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion. However, one particular entry is confusing. The ProgramFilesPath entry seems to point at an environment variable that is not defined under the same registry key. I could assume that the difference between ProgramFilesDir and ProgramFilesPath is none and that one of them exists as a backwards compatibility, but having some legitimate resource from Microsoft to look at would be better than guessing. After receiving some worrying feedback about having both 32 and 64bit applications in the same folder, I have decided not to ask about the feasibility of this to avoid discussion. The real question is if the desired effect is possible to attain by "cutting into" the windows setup process and modifying those registry entries as early as possible. These settings should be system wide and not only for software installed by a particular user. If this is indeed something that can be done, I wonder if there are any subtle pitfalls. Programs that expect libraries and other resources to be in default locations can probably be dealt with using the same technique as employed by Windows to re-map the "Documents and Settings" folders and the like (i.e. breaking legacy applications is not real concern).

• Easily Plotting Multiple Data Series in Excel

  I really need help figuring out how to speed up graphing multiple series on a graph. I have seperate devices that give monthly readings for several variables like pressure, temperature, and salinity. Each of these variables is going to be its own graph with devices being the series. My x-axis is going to be the dates that these values were taken. The problem is that it takes ages to do this for each spreadsheet since I have monthly dates from 1950 up to the present and I have about 50 devices in each spreadsheet. I also have graphs for calculated values that are in columns next to them. Each of these devices is going to become a data series in the graph. E.g. In one of my graphs I have all the pressures from the devices and each of the data series' names is the name of the device. I want a fast way to do this. Doing this manually is taking a very long time. Please help! Is there any easier way to do this? It is consistent and the dates all line up. I am just repeating the same clicks over and over again Thank you!

And I am trying to traverse from input.save at the bottom right the way up to div.node... This all works well with one copy of the markup but if I duplicate it (obvisouly changing the ID of the uppermost div.node and use jQuery.closest('div.node') for the upper of the div.node's it will return the element below it not the element above it (which is the right one). I've tried using parents() but that also has it's caveats.
