  • Comparing 2 columns in the same table with the "Like" function

    I'm trying to come up with a way to query the values in two different columns in the same table where the result set will indicate instances where the value of columnB doesn't contain the value of columnA. For example, my "Nodes" table contains columns "NodeName" and "DNS". The values should look similar to the following: NodeName DNS Router1 Router1.mydomain.com I want to run a query to show which rows have a DNS value that does not contain (or begin with) the value of the NodeName field. I think the query should function something similar to the following, but obviously I'm missing something with regard to the use of "Like" in this situation. SELECT NodeName, DNS WHERE DNS NOT LIKE 'NodeName%' I'm using SQL Server 2005, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... :)

  • Turn RSS into array, explode the 'description' and insert words into MySQL table one per row

    I have only recently gotten into php and MySQL and I want to take an RSS feed, turn it into an array, take only the description part of the XML, explode it and insert it into a table on a MySQL base. I feel like this should be possible, but is a little over my head right now. I tried using magpie as a parser, but if possible I want to do it in simpler php code. The result I am looking for would take a description "This is a cat" and insert it into a table with two fields ID term 1 This 2 is 3 a 4 cat I've been stumped on this for a couple days. Any help would be great.

    I have a piece of code that converts an infix expression to an expression tree in memory. This works just fine. There's just one small trouble. I just connect work out how to involve the unary operators correctly (the right associative ones). With the following infix expression : +1 + +2 - -3 - -4 I would expect an RPN of: 1+2++3-4-- Yet, none of the online infix-post converters I can find handle this example in the way I would expect. Does anyone have a clear explanation of handling right associative operators, specifically the binary ones that can be mistaken for the unary ones?

    Hello, I have a Paradox 5.0 database and want to migrate it to Access 2007. But if I try to import a Paradox table, Access gives an error message: "Incorrect collating sequence". The Help says: "You tried to link a Paradox table that was created with an international sort order that is not the same as the one you are using". What am I doing wrong? How can a change that sort order? Anybody? Thanks in advance.

    hey guys, i am having problems implementing my php/mysql code into a jgrowl if you are familiar with jgrowl you will know it delivers notifications like Growl does for OS X i am trying to get it read all the records from my table but at the moment it is only displaying one record as a notification and it loops through it 4 times another problem is that if i have 5 rows in the table then jgrowl will only display 4 notifications are going to be viewed how do i get it to view all the records in the table as notifications and how do i display the total number of records (5) as notifications and account for the missing one at the moment thanking you guys in advance... Every time I've tried to learn a language and stuff by looking through tutorials or books I'd never get past the part where I use the syntax to make something. And by interest, I mean that I read stack overflow a lot, coding horror, and stuff but the actual coding part is hard for me to get into. Did anybody start this way? How did you get past this block?

  • What skills are needed to be successful at robotics?

    I'm considering studying to be a robotics engineer. The desire to work in that field is definitely there.. but I'm wondering what my chances of success would be. Generally I'm good with mental tasks of any sort such as programming, maths, physics, etc, and I think i'd be able to do electrical work such as soldering wires, changing batteries, etc. However, I'm not so good with things of a physical nature where I have to use my hands. For example, if you give me some vegetables to slice and dice, all of them will be diced un-evenly and some will look ugly. This might be because I have poor mind-hand coordination or because of a lack of concentration. Thoughts?

  • How to include associative table information and still retain strong typing

    I am using LINQ to SQL to create strongly typed objects in my project. Let's say I have an object that is represented by a database table. This object has a "Current State" that is kept in an associative table. I would like to make a single db call where I pull back the two tables joined but am unsure how I should be populating that information into some sort of object to preserve strong typing within my model so that the view using the information can just consume the information from the objects. I looked into creating a view model for this but it doesn't seem to quite fit. Am I thinking about this in the wrong way? What information can I include to help clarify my problem? Other details that may or may not be important: It's an MVC project....

  • Cannot select/edit TineMCE-generated table

    I'm currently using TinyMCE edit in my drupal-website, problem is that beneath the editor, some of the table is sticking out. If I remove the height set by javascript with firebug, it looks fine, even after resizing. So I want to remove the height with JS, I've put this function at the end of my page: $('table#edit-body_tbl').removeAttr('style'); However nothing happens. I test the function in firebug's console, it works perfectly. Basically, the problem is the JS works, but it wont do anything if I simply load it at the end of the page, even in the document.ready function. The TineMCE script is loaded before my script so I should be able to select/edit/delete elements generated by it no? Does anybody know why or how I can force the page to really load my function in the end(currently it is right in front of the -tag)? Other functions in the script work, except this thing ...

    After we export to flat file CSV, columns with commas, quotes and tabs cause problems in Excel. The vendor needs to read the file in Excel to make manual changes and then needs it in a flat file format CSV format to load using PL/SQL into an Oracle table. I can remove those characters from the table in SQL Server, but is there a smarter way? Does it make sense to save to CSV when done in Excel and will that cause problems when attempting to load the file into Oracle anyway? Also, we need the first row to have column names.. any SQL way to generate all the files in one swoop (the the tiles in the first row) rather than using export to flat file?

My end use is a simple Drill Down table using the NSObject, so when I select "memberid" row, I'll get the child/detail list on the next UITableview.     Hello everyone, Here is the thing. I have a ViewController which contain a view in full window. And the program run in landscape mode. I want to put an UITableView over the full screen view but only on right half part of the screen. So I add a UITableView in my view controller, I used the Interface Builder in order to set the Table View in the upper half of the screen so It will be on the right part in LandscapeLeft mode. I searched for on a lot of forum how to rotate my Table View. And so it does... except, It get stuck on the upper half of the landscape mode, it should stick on the right half. I'm not a iPhone coder since long, so I'm a bit confused on how to solve this problem. Do you have any idea on how to resize or make the TableView rotate properly. Thanks,

    I have a table with several million rows. Each row represents a user session. There is a column called user which is not unique. There can be multiple sessions per user. I want to use Analysis services to get me the additional properties per user. Example: How many users (unique!) had a session longer than x minutes. How is that possible without changing the database. Note: there is no lookup-table and I cannot create one. What I am able of at the moment is to ask how many sessions were longer then x minutes.
