    Fault address occurred when i malloc pthread_t to save a newly created thread id and free it in another thread. Codes as follows: typedef struct _TaskInfo { // int dummy_int; pthread_t tid; } TaskInfo; void* dummy_task(void* pArg) { free(pArg); return NULL; } void create_task() { TaskInfo *pInfo; pthread_attr_t attr; // set detached state stuff ... pInfo = (TaskInfo*) malloc(sizeof(TaskInfo)); pthread_create(&pInfo->tid, &attr, dummy_task, pInfo); // destroy pthread attribute stuff ... } int main() { int i; while(i < 10000) { create_task(); ++i; } return 0; } When I uncomment the member dummy_int of TaskInfo it sometimes ran successfully, but sometimes failed. My platform is VMWare + Ubuntu 9.10 + ndk r3 Thanks!

I have 2 questions: 1) Is it possible to get the client ip on @OnOpen method ?? 2) Is it possible to get the origin of the connection ??? I followed the websocket example which comes with the distribution of tomcat and i was not able to find the answers ....     I want to get address of instruction that causes external program to SIGSEGV. I tried using ptrace for this, but I'm getting EIP from kernel space (probably default signal handler?). How GDB is able to get the correct EIP? Is there a way to make GDB provide this information using some API? edit: I don't have sources of the program, only binary executable. I need automation, so I can't simply use "run", "info registers" in GDB. I want to implement "info registers" in my own mini-debugger :)

  • Why is address zero used for null pointer?

    In C (or C++ for that matter), pointers are special if they have the value zero: I am adviced to set pointers to zero after freeing their memory, because it means freeing the pointer again isn't dangerous; when I call malloc it returns a pointer with the value zero if it can't get me memory; I use if (p != 0) all the time to make sure passed pointers are valid etc. But since memory addressing starts at 0, isn't 0 just as a valid address as any other? How can 0 be used for handling null pointers if that is the case? Why isn't a negative number null instead?

    Hi, I want to create a custom malloc which allocates memory blocks within a given address range. I am writing a pthreads application in which threads are bound to unique cores on a many-core machine. The memory controllers are statically mapped, so that certain range of addresses on main memory are electrically closer to a core.   • Problem with domain getting turned to IP address for https

    I have a website that is using Windows Server 2003. The site is called https://mysite.com/ and at ip address 111.1.1.1. Now when I log into the site all my relative links that are generated using NavURL (<%# NavURL("Images/Menu/img.gif")%) are saying "http://111.1.1.1/Images/Menu/img.gif" instead of "https://mysite.com/Images/Menu/img.gif". This is causing an error because it needs to be secure. I'm sure there is a setting on the server somewhere to point to the name and not the ip, but I don't know where. Thanks for your help.

  • Library of ALL countries and their states for address forms

    I need a library that includes all countries and respective codes in 1 array and a second multidimensional array for country to its states and a last array for state code to state name. I found tons of matches for similar requests but none actually have a simple CSV or XML with just that. My goal is to build an address form where you select your country and it then pre-populates the state dropdown - if the country has states - with the country's states. Shouldn't be so hard to find, but I guess i'm blind. Thanks so much for all help!

    Hi, I was trying to write a small debug utility and for this I need to get the function/global variable address given its name. This is built-in debug utility, which means that the debug utility will run from within the code to be debugged or in plain words I cannot parse the executable file. Now is there a well-known way to do that ? The plan I have is to make the .debug_* sections to to be loaded into to memory [which I plan to do by a cheap trick like this in ld script] .data { *(.data) __sym_start = .; (debug_); __sym_end = .; } Now I have to parse the section to get the information I need, but I am not sure this is doable or is there issues with this - this is all just theory. But it also seems like too much of work :-) is there a simple way. Or if someone can tell upfront why my scheme will not work, it ill also be helpful. Thanks in Advance, Alex.

  • Password Recovery without sending password via email

    So, I've been playing with asp:PasswordRecovery and discovered I really don't like it, for several reasons: 1) Alice's password can be reset even without having access to Alice's email. A security question for password resets mitigates this, but does not really satisfy me. 2) Alice's new password is sent back to her in cleartext. I would rather send her a special link to my page (e.g. a page like example.com/recovery.aspx?P=lfaj0831uefjc), which would let her change her password. I imagine I could do this myself by creating some sort of table of expiring password recovery pages and sending those pages to users who asked for a reset. Somehow those pages could also change user passwords behind the scenes (e.g. by resetting them manually and then using the text of the new password to change the password, since a password cannot be changed without knowing the old one). I'm sure others have had this problem before and that kind of solution strikes me as a little hacky. Is there a better way to do this? An ideal solution does not violate encapsulation by accessing the database directly but instead uses the existing stored procedures within the database...though that may not be possible.

    Hi all, I'm stumped. I'm trying to get a list of all the email address a person has. I'm using the ABPeoplePickerNavigationController to select the person, which all seems fine. I'm setting my ABRecordRef personDealingWith; from the person argument to - (BOOL)peoplePickerNavigationController:(ABPeoplePickerNavigationController *)peoplePicker shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson:(ABRecordRef)person property:(ABPropertyID)property identifier:(ABMultiValueIdentifier)identifier { and everything seems fine up till this point. The first time the following code executes, all is well. When subsequently run, I can get issues. This crashes with a *** -[Not A Type retain]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x4e9dc60 error. But wait, there's more! I can fix it in either of two ways. Firstly, I can uncomment the NSLog at the top of the function. I get a leak from the NSLog's ABRecordCopyValue every time through, but the code seems to run fine. Also, I can comment out the CFRelease(multi); at the end, which does exactly the same thing. Static compilation errors, but running code. So without a leak, this function crashes. To prevent a crash, I need to haemorrhage memory. Neither is a great solution. Can anyone point out what's going on?

  • Regular expression, excluding .. in suffix of email addy

    This is homework, I've been working on it for a while, I've done lots of reading and feel I have gotten pretty familiar with regex for a beginner. I am trying to find a regular expression for validating/invalidating a list of emails. There are two addresses which are giving me problems, I can't get them both to validate the correct way at the same time. I've gone through a dozen different expressions that work for all the other emails on the list but I can't get those two at the same time. First, the addresses. [email protected] - invalid [email protected] - valid The part of my expression which validates the suffix I originally started with @.+\\.[[a-z]0-9]+ And had a second pattern for checking some more invalid addresses and checked the email against both patterns, one checked for validity the other invalidity but my professor said he wanted it all in on expression. @[[\\w]+\\.[\\w]+]+ or @[\\w]+\\.[\\w]+ I've tried it written many, many different ways but I'm pretty sure I was just using different syntax to express these two expressions. I know what I want it to do, I want it to match a character class of "character+"."character+"+ The plus sign being at least one. It works for the invalid class when I only allow the character class to repeat one time(and obviously the ip doesn't get matched), but when I allow the character class to repeat itself it matches the second period even thought it isn't preceded by a character. I don't understand why.
