  • How to extract the Sql Command from a Complied Linq Query

    In normal (not compiled) Linq to Sql queries you can extract the SQLCommand from the IQueryable via the following code: SqlCommand cmd = (SqlCommand)table.Context.GetCommand(query); Is it possible to do the same for a compiled query? The following code provides me with a delegate to a compiled query: private static readonly Func<Data.DAL.Context, string, IQueryable<Word>> Query_Get = CompiledQuery.Compile<Data.DAL.Context, string, IQueryable<Word>>( (context, name) => from r in context.GetTable<Word>() where r.Name == name select r); When i use this to generate the IQueryable and attempt to extract the SqlCommand it doesn't seem to work. When debugging the code I can see that the SqlCommand returned has the 'very' useful CommandText of 'SELECT NULL AS [EMPTY]' using (var db = new Data.DAL.Context()) { IQueryable<Word> query = Query_Get(db, "word"); SqlCommand cmd = (SqlCommand)db.GetCommand(query); Console.WriteLine(cmd != null ? cmd.CommandText : "Command Not Found"); } I can't find anything in google about this particular scenario, as no doubt it is not a common thing to attempt... So.... Any thoughts?

  • Command or tool to display list of connections to a Windows file share

    Is there a Windows command or tool that can tell me what users or computers are connected to a Windows fileshare? Here's why I'm looking for this: I've run into issues in the past where our deployment team has deployed BizTalk applications to one of our environments using the wrong bindings, leaving us with two receive locations pointing to the same file share (i.e. both dev and test servers point to dev receive location uri). When this occurs, the two environments in question tend to take turns processing the files received (meaning if I am attempting to debug something in one environment and the other environment has picked the file up, it looks as if my test file has disappeared into thin air). We have several different environments, plus individual developer machines, and I'd rather not have to check each individually to find the culprit. I'm looking for a quick way to detect what locations are connected to the share once I notice my test files vanishing. If I can determine the connections that are invalid, I can go directly to the person responsible for that environment and avoid the time it takes to randomly ask around. Or if the connections appear to be correct, I can go directly to troubleshooting where in the process the message gets lost. Any suggestions?

  • Obtaining command line arguments in a QT application

    The following snippet is from a little app I wrote using the QT framework. The idea is that the app can be run in batch mode (i.e. called by a script) or can be run interactively. It is important therefore, that I am able to parse command line arguments in order to know which mode in which to run etc. [Edit] I am debugging using QTCreator 1.3.1 on Ubuntu Karmic. The arguments are passed in the normal way (i.e. by adding them via the 'Project' settings in the QTCreator IDE). When I run the app, it appears that the arguments are not being passed to the application.   • R: building a simple command line plotting tool/Capturing window close events

    I am trying to use R within a script that will act as a simple command line plot tool. I.e. user pipes in a csv file and they get a plot. I can get to R fine and get the plot to display through various temp file machinations, but I have hit a roadblock. I cannot figure out how to get R to keep running until the users closes the window. If I plot and exit, the plot disappears immediately. If I plot and use some kind of infinite loop, the user cannot close the plot; he must exit by using an interrupt which I don't like. I see there is a getGraphicsEvent function, but it claims that the device is not supported (X11). Anyway, it doesn't appear to actually support an onClose event, only onMouseDown. Any ideas on how to solve this? edit: Thanks to Dirk for the advice to check out the tk interface.   • c# wpf command pattern

    I have a wpf gui which displays a list of information in separate window and in a separate thread from the main application. As the user performs actions in the main window the side window is updated. (For example if you clicked page down in the main window a listbox in the side window would page down). Right now the architecture for this application feels very messy and I'm sure there is a cleaner way to do it. It looks like this: Main Window contains a singleton SideWindowControl which communicates with an instance of the SideWindowDisplay using events - so, for example, the pagedown button would work like: 1) the event handler of the button on the main window calls SideWindowControl.PageDown() 2) in the PageDown() function a event is created and thrown. 3) finally the gui, ShowSideWindowDisplay is subscribing to the SideWindowControl.Actions event handles the event and actually scrolls the listbox down - note because it is in a different thread it has to do that by running the command via Dispatcher.Invoke() This just seems like a very messy way to this and there must be a clearer way (The only part that can't change is that the main window and the side window must be on different threads). Perhaps using WPF commands? I'd really appreciate any suggestions!! Thanks

I am not a C/C++ expert, and am curious to find out why this happens - any C/C++ experts who can "shed some light" on this? Unrelated note: I seriously thought of rewriting the whole code to use quicksort or merge sort before posting it here. But, after all, it is not Stooge sort...

  • Need a script/batch/program that runs a command that won't be killed when the parent is killed

    The scenario I use Zabbix to monitor my servers and recently I wanted to add some more metrics for the Windows ones. For security reasons, I used Zabbix's User Parameter feature, but it limits the execution of external commands to about 3 seconds. After that, the command is forcibly killed. I want to run some long run commands, so I used the trick from Zabbix's forum: run the command in the background, write the results to a file and use Zabbix to collect them. This is rather easy under *nix thanks to the "&" operator, but there is no such support in Windows' shell. To make things worse, when Zabbix kills forcibly kill the cmd.exe it used to evaluate the commands, all child processes die including the unfinished background tasks. Thus I need something that can sever all the ties with its children so they won't be affected in the cascading kill. What I've tried start and start /B - They do nothing as the child always die with the parent WScript.Shell.Run as in invis.vbs from StackOverflow - Sometimes work. If the wscript process is forcibly killed as opposed to quitting on its own, the children will die as well. hstart - similar results to invis.vbs At command - This requires you to set an absolution time for the task to run as opposed to an offset, so the code would be quite messy due to the limited shell scripting capability of Windows. (Edit) PsExec.exe from the SysInternals suite - It uses a service to launch the command, so it is not affected by the kill; however, it prints some banner and log info to StdErr and there's no switch to disable this. When I use 2>NUL to redirect them, Zabbix reports an error. After trying the above in different combinations, I noticed if I call hstart from invis.vbs, the command started by the former will be left alone as a parent-less process when invis.vbs is killed. However, since I need to redirect the output, the command I want to run is always in the form of cmd.exe /c ""command" "args"" >log. The vbs also removes all the quotes, so I have to encode the command with self-defined escape sequences. The end result involves about five levels of escaping/quoting, which is almost impossible to maintain. Anyone know any better solutions? Some requirements Any bat/vbs/js/Win32 binary is acceptable Better not require multiple levels of escaping No .Net (including PowerShell) because it is not installed

    I am successfully using Powershell with SMO to backup most databases. However, I have several large databases in which I receive a "timeout" error "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired". The timout consistently occurs at 10 minutes. I have tried setting ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout to 0, 6000, and to [System.Int32]::MaxValue. The setting made no difference. I have found a number of Google references which indicate setting it to 0 makes it unlimited. No matter what I try, the timeouts consistently occur at 10 minutes. I even set Remote Query Timeout on the server to 0 (via Studio Manager) to no avail. Below is my SMO connection where I set the time out and the actual backup function. Further below is the output from my script. UPDATE Interestingly enough, I wrote the backup function in C# using VS 2008 and the timeout override does work within that environment. I am in the process of incorporating that C# process into my Powershell Script until I can find out why the timeout override does not work with just Powershell.     I'm looking for the string "foo=" (without quotes) in text files in a directory tree. It's on a common Linux machine, I have bash shell: grep -ircl "foo=" * In the directories are also many binary files which match "foo=". As these results are not relevant and slow down the search, I want grep to skip searching these files (mostly JPEG and PNG images): how would I do that? I know there are the --exclude=PATTERN and --include=PATTERN options, but what is the pattern format? manpage of grep says: --include=PATTERN Recurse in directories only searching file matching PATTERN. --exclude=PATTERN Recurse in directories skip file matching PATTERN. Searching on grep include, grep include exclude, grep exclude and variants did not find anything relevant If there's a better way of grepping only in certain files, I'm all for it; moving the offending files is not an option, I can't search only certain directories (the directory structure is a big mess, with everything everywhere).   • Remove a line from a csv file bash, sed, bash

    I'm looking for a way to remove lines within multiple csv files, in bash using sed, awk or anything appropriate where the file ends in 0. So there are multiple csv files, their format is: EXAMPLEfoo,60,6 EXAMPLEbar,30,10 EXAMPLElong,60,0 EXAMPLEcon,120,6 EXAMPLEdev,60,0 EXAMPLErandom,30,6 So the file will be amended to: EXAMPLEfoo,60,6 EXAMPLEbar,30,10 EXAMPLEcon,120,6 EXAMPLErandom,30,6 A problem which I can see arising is distinguishing between double digits that end in zero and 0 itself. So any ideas?

  • How to create makefile for Lazarus projects?

    After doing a light search on the Lazarus site I've come to the conclusion that this question has been asked some times but I haven't found an answer, so I'll ask my SO peers. Is there a a way to create a Makefile to replicate the action of the Lazarus IDE when it compiles a project. If so I really don't mind if it's makefile.fpc or just plain makefile, I just want some pointers on how to get to it. BTW, I've tried the option to enable the Makefile on the Lazarus options. Doesn't work.

  • Send ESC commands to a printer in C#

    My application needs to print invoices, then a get the invoice from database, insert informations os the invoice in a big string (tellling the line, column, etc). after this a have the string ready to be sent to a printer. My problem is: I need to put some ESC/P commands/characters in my big string i try to do something like this: char formFeed = (char)12; Convert.ToChar(12); MyBigString.Insert(10, formFeed); whit this, the line 10 will do a FormFeed, but this not work NOTE: i send the MybigString all at once to printer. to make my code works i need to send the data line by line to a printer ? Thanks for the helps. PS: Sorry my English, i'am a Brazilian developer which dont speak English (yet).
