getting Error while set up the connection pool in jboss

Hi as per following Connection pool configuration facing some issue. Place a copy of mysql-connector-java-[version]-bin.jar in $JBOSS_HOME/server/all/lib. Then, follow the example configuration file named mysql-ds.xml in the $JBOSS_HOME/docs/examples/jca directory that comes with a JBoss binary installation. To activate your DataSource, place an xml file that follows the format of mysql-ds.xml in the deploy subdirectory in either $JBOSS_HOME/server/all, $JBOSS_HOME/server/default, or $JBOSS_HOME/server/[yourconfig] as appropriate. I am getting following error resource-ref: jdbc/buinessCaliberDb has no valid JNDI binding. Check the jboss-web/resource-ref. PHP setting cookies in a child class

I am writing a custom session handler and for the life of me I cannot get a cookie to set in it. I'm not outputting anything to the browser before I set the cookie but it still doesn't work. Its killing me. The cookie will set if I set it in the script I define and call on the session handler with. If necessary I will post code. What is a “pretty and proper OO” way for handling sessions and authentication?

Is coupling these two concepts a bad approach? As of right now I'm delegating all session handling and whether or not a user desires to logout in my config.inc file. As I was writing my Auth class I started wondering whether or not my Auth class should be taking care of most of the logic in my config.inc. Regardless, I'm sure there's a more elegant way of handling this... Failed to get i915 symbols, graphics turbo disabled

I'm getting "Failed to get i915 symbols, graphics turbo disabled" error message after installing following softwares and few updates from Ubuntu. Django, Mysql server 5.5 Mysql benchmark And i have installed few updates for ubuntu. It was showing as Security Updates for Ubuntu. After installing Updates the update manager showed that i should restart the system. On restart i got following error message. " failed to get i915 symbols, graphics turbo disabled". So i tried the work around mentioned here (using the Live CD) ie add intel_ips to the blacklist echo "blacklist intel_ips" /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf add i915 and intel_ips to /etc/modules echo -e "i915/nintel_ips" /etc/modules Now when start the system it freezes at Ubuntu splash screen. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, on Dell inspiron N1040. I need to boot the system as i have spend lot of days configuring. Python and Django. Please help EDIT : OK when i restarted the system yesterday it magically turned on. Now i can view my desktop. But one problem, i can't mount any of the drives. It says failed to mount Drive. I'm also frequently getting "Ubuntu System Failure" Error Message.

Logs are written to *.log.1 instead of *.log

For some reason my log files are writing to the *.log.1 files instead of the *.log files, e.g. for my Postfix log files it is writing to /var/log/mail.log.1 and not /var/log/mail.log as expected. Same goes for mail.err. It looks like it's also doing it for auth.log and syslog. Game software design

I have been working on a simple implementation of a card game in object oriented Python/HTML/Javascript and building on the top of Django. At this point the game is in its final stage of development but, while spotting a big issue about how I was keeping the application state (basically using a global variable), I reached the point that I'm stuck. The thing is that ignoring the design flaw, in a single-threaded environment such as under the Django development server, the game works perfectly. While I tried to design classes cleanly and keep methods short I now have in front of me an issue that has been keeping me busy for the last 2 days and that countless print statements and visual debugging hasn't helped me spot. The reason I think has to do with some side-effects of functions and to solve it I've been wondering if maybe refactoring the code entirely with static classes that keep no state and just passing the state around might be a good option to keep side-effects under control. Or maybe trying to program it in a functional programming style (although I'm not sure Python allows for a purely functional style). I feel that now there's already too many layers that the software (which I plan to make incredibly more complex by adding non trivial features) has already become unmanageable. How would you suggest I re-take control of my code-base that (despite being still only at < 1000 LOC) seems to have taken a life of its own?

SO-overflow induced passivity - how to cope?

After not really working on my pet project for a while, I discovered Stackoverflow and upon perusing it more intensely I was quite amazed. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so when I found eye-openers here highlighting many of the mistakes I made, I first wanted to fix everything. However, it's a pet project for a reason: I'm self-taught and I'm studying psychology, so programming skills can never become priority one (though it often helps, even in this field). Issues that stuck out were numerous security issues (e.g. CSRF-prevention and bcrypt eluded me) not object-oriented (at least the PHP part, the JS-part mostly is) no PHP framework used, so many of my DIY takes on commonly-tackled components (auth, ...) are either bad or inefficient really poor MySQL usage (no prepared statements, mysql extension, heard about setting proper indices two days ago) using mootools even though JQuery seems to be fashionable, so there's more probably always going to be better integration with services I'd like to use (like google visualization) So, my SO-induced frenzy turned into passivity. I can't do it all (soon) in the rather small amount of spare time I can spend on working on my project. I can leave some of the issues be in good conscience (speed stuff: an unfinished & unpublished project will never become popular, right?). No clear conscience without good security though and if I don't use a framework for auth and other complex stuff I'll regret having to do it myself. One obvious answer would probably be going open-source, but I think the project would need to become more impressive before others would commit to it. I can't afford to employ someone either. I do think the project deserves being worked on, though. How should I tackle it anyway? What's the best practice for little-practice people?

PowerBroker (Likewise-Open) + Ubuntu 13.04 -> 13.10 Upgrade

I just upgraded Ubuntu from 13.04 to 13.10, and now I can't log into Active Directory; my system is integrated using PowerBroker Identity Services (PBIS), which used to be called Likewise-Open. So far I have identified the following symptoms: I am able to log in with my credentials via ssh. The screen goes black when attempting log into my account via the login screen. I've tried leaving the domain, purging PBIS, and re-installing the latest version of PBIS. I've been trying the troubleshooting section I found here, but I haven't had any success. how to choose a web framework and javascript library?

I've been procrastinating learning some framework for web apps w/ some library for AJAX, something like django with prototype, or turbogears with mootools, or zeta components with dojo, grok, jquery, symfony... The point is to spend some of my spare time, have "fun" and create cool stuff that hopefully is some useful. I think maybe I wouldn't like something like GWT or pyjamas because I wouldn't like to "get married" with some technology, I want to keep my freedom to add another javascript library, and so on. I didn't decide even the language yet, but I think I'd prefer python. PHP could be fine if there is some framework that is nice enough. Besides that, I don't even know where to start. I don't feel like learning a framework to then realize there is something that I cannot comfortably do, switch to another framework then find that a third framework has something really cool, etc. And the same goes for javascript libraries. So, some guidance would be really appreciated. I don't really know why are so many options available and what do they aim for, I guess some of them focus on some aspects and some on others, but I just want to make cool and nice apps that I can easily maintain, without spending too much time on coding or learning and avoiding the "trapped in the framework" feeling, when doing something is awfully complicated (or even impossible) with compared with the rest of things or doing that same thing on a different framework. I guess in the end I'll go for django and jquery since they are the most widely used options, afaik, but if I was going for the most widely used options I guess I should choose Java or PHP (I don't really like Java for my spare time, but php is not so bad), so I preferred to ask first. I think the question has to consider both, framework and library, since sometimes they are coupled. I think this is the place to ask this kind of things, sorry if not, and thank you.

What benefits can I get upgrading my ASP.NET (Webform) + DAL(EF) + Repository + BLL structure to MVC?

I'm in the process of defining an approach that may best fit our needs for a big web application development. For now, I'm thinking going with an ASP.NET Architecture with a DAL using Entity Framework, a Repository concept to not access DAL directly from BLL and a BLL that call the repository and make every manipulations necessary to prepare data to push in a presentation layer (.aspx files). I don't plan to use ASP.Net controls and prefer to keep things simple and lightweight using plain html, jQuery UI controls and do most of the server calls with jQuery Ajax. Sometimes, when needed, I plan to use handlers (.ashx) to call BLL methods that will return JSON or HTML to client for dynamic stuff. My solution also has a test project that Mock the Repository with in-memory data to not repose on database for testing BLL methods... It may be usefull to add that we will build a big application over this architecture with hundreds of tables and store procedures with a lot of reading and writing to database. My question is, having this architecture in mind, Is there any evident advantages that I can obtain by using an MVC3 project instead of the described architecture base on Webform? Do you see any problem in this architecture that may cause us problem during the next steps of development? I know the MVC pattern for using it in others projects with Django... but the Microsoft MVC implementation look so much more complex and verbose than Django MVC and it's why I'm hesitating (or waiting for a little push?) right now before jumping into it... We are in a real project with deadlines and don't want to slow the development process without any real benefits.

Can not login Dashboard / Unable to find the server at mykeystoneurl

I installed Dashboard following this guide: http://wiki.openstack.org/OpenStackDashboard Everything fine, but when I run the server, I can not login with the username and password in DATABASE config in local_settings.py. How to deal with the need to know multiple programming languages? When to stop learning new languages?

I am a relatively young programmer. I am 23 and I have been programming professionally for about 5 years. As most programmers I started with C, learned some x86 assembly for fun and then I found C++ which turned out to be my greatest passion in the programming world. Programming with C and C++ forces you to learn platform specific APIs, libs and frameworks all of each requires constant study and experimentation. After some time I had to move on to Java and C# as the demand on my region is basically for these languages. With these languages I entered the world of web development and then I had to learn javascript. Developing for the .NET Framework was exciting at first but I constantly felt as I was getting tied up by Microsoft (and of course the .NET Framework was driving me away from Linux). For desktop development I could do pretty much everything I did with .NET using C++ with Qt but for web development I had to look for an alternative. Quickly I found Django and then I proceeded to learn Python so I could use Django. Nowadays I am learning iOS development with Objective-C. So far it was pretty much easy to learn all these languages (C++ trained me well) but I am worried that someday I won't be able to keep track of them all. Just to clarify. The only languages I learned cause I had to were C# and Java. All of the others I learned for fun, because I love programming and learning new things. Also I like to keep my skills sharp on desktop, web and mobile development. My question is: How do you keep track of multiple programming languages? (I mean, keep track of changes to these languages and keep your skills sharp) and: Is there such a thing as enough programming languages?

Weird 302 Redirects in Windows Azure

In IdentityServer I don’t use Forms Authentication but the session facility from WIF. That also means that I implemented my own redirect logic to a login page when needed. To achieve that I turned off the built-in authentication (authenticationMode="none") and added an Application_EndRequest handler that checks for 401s and does the redirect to my sign in route. The redirect only happens for web pages and not for web services. This all works fine in local IIS – but in the Azure Compute Emulator and Windows Azure many of my tests are failing and I suddenly see 302 status codes where I expected 401s (the web service calls). After some debugging kung-fu and enabling FREB I found out, that there is still the Forms Authentication module in effect turning 401s into 302s. My EndRequest handler never sees a 401 (despite turning forms auth off in config)! Not sure what’s going on (I suspect some inherited configuration that gets in my way here). Even if it shouldn’t be necessary, an explicit removal of the forms auth module from the module list fixed it, and I now have the same behavior in local IIS and Windows Azure. strange. <modules> <remove name="FormsAuthentication" /> </modules> HTH Update: Brock ran into the same issue, and found the real reason. How to choose a server side language / framework

I am trying to come up with a list / ranking system on determining which server language to choose for a particular website. Assume that familiarity with a certain language is not important and the implementation can be done in any language. Here are some things that might be important but I am not sure how to rank them : Maintainability. Libraries. For example, Memcached and NoSql support right out the box would be really nice addition to a particular framework. 3rd party SDK's. For example, if I need Paypal on my site they openly provide SDK's for all senarios in Java, PHP and .Net. If I choose Django I would have to rely on 3rd party libraries that are don't support everything and are not officially maintained. Would that be dealbreaker for Django? Performance This one is tricky to put on a generic list because it can be a deal breaker but for many websites performance will not be an issue that the language/framework is responsible for. Can I set up samba so it automatically allows all the local usernames and passwords?

I have set up samba like this (this is the complete smb.conf): [global] log file = /var/log/samba/log log level = 2 security = user [homes] browsable = false read only = no valid users = %S I'd like to enable every user on server to access their home directories, but for some unknown reason only my 'administrator' account can do so. (I have done that with ftp before, but now smb is also needed). When I try to smbclient -L localhost -U [user], I get NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE, except with the administrator (which is the user created during the ubuntu installation, not root). To me that sounds like as long as the provided username/password is a valid login on the server, it should work. Am I missing something totally obvious? I don't want / can't afford to manually update the samba users and passwords to match the server's. 11.10

Approach to Authenticate Clients to TCP Server

I'm writing a Server/Client application where clients will connect to the server. What I want to do, is make sure that the client connecting to the server is actually using my protocol and I can "trust" the data being sent from the client to the server. What I thought about doing is creating a sort of hash on the client's machine that follows a particular algorithm. What I did in a previous version was took their IP address, the client version, and a few other attributes of the client and sent it as a calculated hash to the server, who then took their IP, and the version of the protocol the client claimed to be using, and calculated that number to see if they matched. This works ok until you get clients that connect from within a router environment where their internal IP is different from their external IP. My fix for this was to pass the client's internal IP used to calculate this hash with the authentication protocol. My fear is this approach is not secure enough. Since I'm passing the data used to create the "auth hash". Here's an example of what I'm talking about: Client IP: 192.168.1.10, Version: 2.4.5.2 hash = 2*4*5*1 * (1+9+2) * (1+6+8) * (1) * (1+0) Client Connects to Server client sends: auth hash ip version Server calculates that info, and accepts or denies the hash. Before I go and come up with another algorithm to prove a client can provide data a server (or use this existing algorithm), I was wondering if there are any existing, proven, and secure systems out there for generating a hash that both sides can generate with general knowledge. The server won't know about the client until the very first connection is established. The protocol's intent is to manage a network of clients who will be contributing data to the server periodically. New clients will be added simply by connecting the client to the server and "registering" with the server. So a client connects to the server for the first time, and registers their info (mac address or some other kind of unique computer identifier), then when they connect again, the server will recognize that client as a previous person and associate them with their data in the database.

Unable to sign in. How to debug?

Cannot connect to secure wireless with Netgear wna3100 USB

I have installed Ubuntu 11.10. I used a wired connection to download and install all of the updates. When I tried to use a Netgear WNA3100 wireless USB network adapter, it failed. Much searching and trying things I was finally able to get it working by disabling security on my router. I have verified this by disabling security and I was able to connect. When I enabled security (WPA2 PSK), the connection failed. What is necessary to enable security (WPA2 PSK) and still use the Netgear USB interface? Could not connect to wireless unitl reboot (nl80211)

I'm using Samsung NP900X3C. I have problem with occasionally connecting to WIFI, with Ubuntu 12.10. Sometimes my computer could not connect to WIFI "blab", neither after reboot computer. Only solution is to restart WIFI hotspot. It's public WIFI, used by many users, that don't have that problem. WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - unable to access data

I have a WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - (WD20000H2NC-00) Was working fine until a few days ago. I guess there was a power failure and after that I am unable to access the 'Public' or the 'Download' folder anymore. I have been searching for answers everywhere but came up empty handed. Web GUI still works, SSH works. I hooked up both the drives on my PC and UFS Explorer sees the drive. But so far I am unable to retrieve any of my data. I do not remember what RAID setting I used when I first got the drive. I can see from GUI that it is set as "Stripe". The drive contains 10 years of family pictures which I really do not want to loose. Sadly and stupidly, I didn't even keep a backup of this drive. Can somebody please help or point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for your help. Disk Utility on Ubuntu reports 1405 bad sectors on one drive. How can I retrieve my data? Please help. Sending a Soap Header with a WSDL Soap Request with PHP

I'm extremely new to SOAP and I'm trying to implement a quick test client in PHP that consumes a ASP.NET web service. The web service relies on a Soap Header that contains authorization parameters. Is it possible to send the auth header along with a soap request when using WSDL? My code: php $service = new SoapClient("http://localhost:16840/CTI.ConfigStack.WS/ATeamService.asmx?WSDL"); $service->AddPendingUsers($users, 3); // Example webservice [SoapHeader("AuthorisationHeader")] [WebMethod] public void AddPendingUsers(List<PendingUser> users, int templateUserId) { ateamService.AddPendingUsers(users, templateUserId, AuthorisationHeader.UserId); } How would the auth header be passed in this context? Or will I need to do a low lever __soapCall() to pass in the header? Also, am I invoking the correct soap call within PHP?
