  • Changing Word mail merge data source locations in bulk?

    I've just moved a number of Word mail merge files, and a number of Excel spreadsheets that are the data sources for the mail merges, from a Windows XP computer to a Windows 7 computer, and now all the paths for the merge sources are incorrect (used to be c:\documents and settings\user\my documents.... now c:\users\documents....). While I can correct the path of the data source in each file individually, I was hoping that there would be some way of updating the files in bulk, as there are a relatively large number of them. Word 2007 is what is being used, but the documents are all in the previous DOC format (not DOCX).

  • Same index for all (sub-)directories?

    Hi. I was wondering if it was possible to write some .htaccess page that makes the server use an index.php file in a SINGLE directory as the index file for every directory/sub-directory on my server, rather than placing the exact same index.php in 200+ directories. If my description isn't clear, what I essentially mean is: /files/index.php is to be used as the index for, for example, /files/morefiles, as well as the index for all directories and sub-directories within /files/, even though those directories would not have an index file themselves.   • Why is postgresql update query so slow sometimes, even with index

    i have a simple update query (foo column type is BOOLEAN (default false)): update tablename set foo = true where id = 234; which "id" is set to (primary) key, and if i run "explain analyze" i got: Index Cond: (id = 234) Total runtime: 0.358 ms but still, i have plenty of unexplained queries at slow log (pgfouine), which took more than 200s (?!): Times executed: 99, Av. duration (s): 70 can anyone please explain, whats the reason for that? (1.5 mio rows in table, postgresql 8.4)

  • setting z-index jquery ui controls?

    Annoyingly, the jquery ui's set a few css properties inline, making it impossible to override them in the stylesheet. I tried to override the values with jquery, but then they get changed back as soon as the control is interacted with. Does anyone know if any of the jquery ui control's initialisers/constructors have the ability to override their z-index value or set other css properties?

  • jQuery oembed plugin z-index problem

    I'm using the jQuery oembed plugin to display videos from a Vimeo feed. The only problem is they display over the top of my navigation menu. I have tried setting the z-index of the menu but this makes no difference. A common suggestion seems to be to set the wmode parameter to transparent or opaque. However, passing this as a parameter to the oembed function makes no difference. Thanks

  • How to index and search .doc files

    I have an application that needs to have .doc files uploaded to it. These documents should then be index and the whole collection of documents should be searchable. This will run on a Windows Server, without Word installed, using IIS and SqlServer, but I'd rather not be tied to SqlServer's full text indexing. I was thinking of using Lucene.Net for the indexing part and was wondering what the best way to get the text out of the .doc files would be. I could probably extract the text by reading in the whole stream and then using a regEx to pull out any regular characters, but that seems hefty and prone to error. I saw an article on using iFilters that sounds promising, but I thought I'd put this out there since it's not something I'm familiar with. P.S. If it matters, these .doc files will have mail-merge fields in them and there's no other current alternative for the .doc format.

    Hi, I've taken over an existing Drupal installation and have been asked to remove a single page from the site search results. I know about the lullabot tutorial through this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1748837/hide-drupal-nodes-from-search, but that talks about excluding a class of content when I really just want to exclude a single page. I've tried manually deleting the node from the search_index table, but that didn't seem to work either. Any recommendations for excluding a single regular content page from the search index?

RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.html -f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.html However when I click links in my HTML such as <a href="abcde.html"></a> it doesn't remove the .html from the URL and I am left with www.website.com/abcde.html 2) I tried using this to remove the index.html RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \/index\.(php|html)\ HTTP [NC] RewriteRule (.*)index\.(php|html)$ /$1 [R=301,L] But when I load an index.html file on my server, my URL looks something like this www.website.com/folder// I am left with an extra / at the end. However, I have 2 pages that have identical content: example.com/index.html example.com/page/1 Page 2, 3 and so on have different content naturally. However, for SEO purposes, what is the best way of telling Google that page 1 is identical to index.html? Should I 302 redirect index.html to /page/1 so index.html is non-existent, so to say or should I put a canonical tag in /page/1 (but not on /page/2) that points to index.html?

  • ModalPopupExtender z-index value decreases after every show

    This is a new one I have never seen before. I have a gridview containing a bunch of categories that can be edited by clicking on the respective "Edit" link within the gridview. The modalpopupextender is then shown programmatically (.show() method) and the user is allowed to edit the category. Then the modal popup is programmtically hidden (.hide() method) when the user presses "Update" or "Cancel". For some reason after every new show of the modal popup, the z-index is decreasing by 1000 until it is hidden behind everything on my page. It starts at 7000 for the very first show. Therefore the user would not be able to edit an infinite number of categories if they wanted to. Any ideas why this is happening?   • z-index not working in IE8 with the sortable jQuery plugin

    I'm working with the jQuery Sortable plugin to drag and drop images from one box to another box. This works fine in ff,chrome and safari but it fails in IE8. It seems that when you start dragging that the image is send to the back. I've tried to solve this by adding the z-index option to the sortable plugin, i've tried appending it to a node higher in the hierarchy (body). It appears that setting a z-index on every other item in the page would fix this, haven't tried it yet and i'm not planning on doing this because this would mess up alot.   • CSS - Can't get the z-index to apply correctly in Internet Explorer

    I've written a jQuery script to replace <select /> elements with some DIV's and UL's allowing my to simulate the original SELECT but also allow me to style it. So far, aside from a few minor bugs, it works rather nicely. However, in Internet Explorer, the 'options' div is getting rendered underneath the elements below the div.
