  • PhoneGap's vibrate() and beep() functions break in iPhone, Android emulators

    I have a PhoneGap app that I'm testing on webOS, Android, and iPhone. I'm using physical devices as well as emulators (the ones that come with their respective SDKs, not the PhoneGap emulator). Part of the code uses the navigator.notification.vibrate() and navigator.notification.beep() functions. All the physical devices I'm using either perform the behavior or ignore it if they're not capable (e.g., the iPod can't vibrate). However, the emulators behave differently. The Android emulator kills the app whenever the beep() function is called. The iPhone emulator causes the app to hang whenever the vibrate() function is called. Is there any way to get the emulators to ignore those function calls when they are unable to execute them? That is, is there a way to get them to degrade gracefully so I can test the app both places without having to modify the code specifically for the emulators?

  • Windows 7 Seems to break SWT Control.print(GC)

    A bug has been filed and fixed (super quickly) in SWT: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=305294 Just to preface this, my goal here is to print the two images into a canvas so that I can animate the canvas sliding across the screen (think iPhone), sliding the controls themselves was too CPU intensive, so this was a good alternative until I tested it on Win7. I'm open to anything that will help me solve my original problem, it doesn't have to be fixing the problem below. Does anyone know how to get "Control.print(GC)" to work with Windows 7 Aero? I have code that works just fine in Windows XP and in Windows 7, when Aero is disabled, but the command: control.print(GC) causes a non-top control to be effectively erased from the screen. GC gc = new GC(image); try { // As soon as this code is called, calling "layout" on the controls // causes them to disappear. control.print(gc); } finally { gc.dispose(); } I have stacked controls and would like to print the images from the current and next controls such that I can "slide" them off the screen. Here is an example row: AB AB10,AB11,AB12,AB15,AB16,AB21,AB22,AB23,AB24,AB25,AB99 ABERDEEN Aberdeenshire The columns are comma separated (Postcode area, Postcode districts, Post town, Former postal county).     Hey folks, I am stuck with something quite simple but really annoying: I have an xml file with one node, where the content includes line breaks and whitspaces. Sadly I can't change the xml. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <ProductFeed> ACME Ltd. Does anyone know how to strip the result from linebreaks and taps or spaces right here?     My BizTalk receive XML message as a input message. I am converting that message to HL7 message using Transform in orchestration. Now if input message consists of any empty field in any of the node, the HL7 message breaks up at that postion and also include space in that message.   • Drupal Clean Urls break randomly for arbitrary paths.

    I've done everything right. My server has mod_rewrite enabled, my virtualhost path has AllowOverride set to All, and I have the .htaccess file in place with the rewrite rules same as everyone. But I have trouble accessing some pages using their clean url paths. So for 90% of the pages, clean urls work fine. But for that 10%, they don't. I have checked whether those pages exist -- they do. Checked whether they are accessible using index.php?q=[path] -- and they are. They are only inaccessible through clean url paths. Can anyone help me with this mystery?

I know this must be a relatively trivial query to write (and therefore to find instructions for), but I can't seem to come up with the right search terms. Searching "SQL recursive queries" has gotten me closest, but I can't quite translate those methods to what I'm trying to do here. I'm trying to learn, so multiple methods are welcome, as is vocabulary I should read up on. Thanks!

So in effect, news1 is above news2, rather than side by side. Any ideas?

    So I've been bashing away at my favorite open source project for quite some time, and It's time for submitting issues with patches back. I have to regroup my commits more or less fully, and hopefully extract some pieces of code that can function as distinct patches to avoid code bombing. Currently I usually do something like this: rebase/squash everything to one commit since the old ones often don't make sense as patches undo that commit start adding stuff that I think fits to one commit, using add/add -i commit stash the rest test that commit re-apply the stash and start from 3 until all is accounted for It works, but is there a better way ?

  • Nested loops break out unexpectedly

    Hi guys, I'm trying to create a sudoku game, for those that do not know what it is. You have a 9x9 box that needs to be filled with numbers from 1-9, every number must be unique in its row and column, and also in the 3x3 box it is found. I ended up doing loads of looping within a 2 dimensional array. But at some point it just stops, with no exceptions whatsoever, just breaks out and nothing happens, and it's not always at the same position, but always goes past half way. I was expecting a stack overflow exception at least.     Hi Could someone tell me how to add a new line in a text that i enter in a mySql table. I tried using the '\n in the line i entered with INSERT INTO statement but '\n is shown as it is. Actually i have created a table in Ms Access with some data. Ms Access adds new line with '\n. I am converting Ms Access table data into mySql . But when i convert, the '\n is ignored and all the text is shown in one single line when i display it from mySql table on a php form. Can anyone tell me how mySQL can add a new line in a text ?     I am trying to get names from a .txt file. I am using file('filename.txt') but if i use a php for loop to try and trim the names, it comes out on multiple lines: This is the actual line that prints the javascript (NOTE: I am going to be putting these names into a select box, if you can fix the problem at hand the rest of the code should work so unless you a big problem with it you don't need to comment) <?php for($i=1; $i < 27; $i++){ echo "selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('".lines[$i]."','".$lines[$i]."');\n"; } ?> Heres how it comes out on the browser: selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Djamal ABDOUN ','First1 Last1 '); selbox.options[selbox.options.length] = new Option('Chadli AMRI ','First2 Last2 '); I need those to be on one line so i dont get a unterminated string literal js error Any ideas on what i can do here? EDIT: Oh i should probably mention, the $lines var is initiated like this: $lines = file('filename.txt'); and inside that file i have formatted like this First1 Last1 First2 Last2 First3 Last3 etc. and i hit delete after each Last name until the next first name is touching, then hit enter to put it on a new line (Editor is notepad++)

    Hello, I'm writing an IRCd. For this topic it doesn't really matter if you know much about IRC. Its a simple code style problem. Quick overview of the problem: No message may be longer than 512 characters If the message is more, it must be broken into pieces The NAMES reply sends all the nicknames of users on a channel, and quickly grows beyond 512 characters. I currently concocted this marvelous piece of code, it works perfectly. However, its just not "ruby-like". This piece of code is more what you expect in some piece of C code. # 11 is the number of all fixed characters combined in the reply pre_length = 11 + servername.length + mynick.length + channel.name.length list = [""] i = 0 channel.nicks.each do |nick, client| list[i+=1] = "" if list[i].length + nick.length + pre_length > 500 list[i] << "#{channel.mode_char(client)}#{client.nick} " end list.each { |l| send_numeric(RPL_NAMREPLY, channel.name, l.strip) } send_numeric(RPL_ENDOFNAMES, channel.name) So my question is, any ideas to do this more nicely?     I am pulling data into my iphone application using xml. The xml value is then placed in a variable. example variable: 123 London road \n London \n England The variable is then set as a label. I want the line breaks to appear in the label, instead it is printing \n. If i manually set the label value locationLabel.text = @"123 London road \n London \n England" It works as i want it to. Can anyone explain this?

    I want to give default value to a textarea. The code is something like this: <textarea>{{userSetting.list | join:"NEWLINE"}}</textarea> where userSetting.list is a string list, each item of whom is expected to show in one line. textarea takes the content between the tags as the default value, preserving its line breaks and not interpreting any HTML tags (which means <br>,\n won't work). I have found a solution: {{userSetting.list | join:" " | wordwrap:0}} (there is no whitespace in the list). But obviously it is NOT a good one. Any help would be appreciated.
