  • Custom listview entry works in JB not in Gingerbread

    - by Andy
    I have a ListFragment with a custom ArrayAdapter where I am overiding getView() to provide a custom View for the list item. private class DirListAdaptor extends ArrayAdapter<DirItem> { @Override public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { View aView = convertView; if (aView == null) { LayoutInflater vi = (LayoutInflater) getContext().getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); // TODO: can we not access textViewResourceId? aView = vi.inflate(R.layout.dir_list_entry, parent, false); } etc... Here is the dir_list_entry.xml: <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="?android:attr/listPreferredItemHeight" android:paddingLeft="?android:attr/listPreferredItemPaddingLeft" android:paddingRight="?android:attr/listPreferredItemPaddingRight"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/dir_list_icon" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_marginRight="6dp" android:src="@drawable/ic_launcher" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/dir_list_details" android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceListItem" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/dir_list_icon" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:singleLine="true" android:ellipsize="marquee" android:textSize="12sp" android:text="Details" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/dir_list_filename" android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceListItem" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/dir_list_icon" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_above="@id/dir_list_details" android:layout_alignWithParentIfMissing="true" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:textSize="14sp" android:text="Filename"/> </RelativeLayout> The bizarre thing is this works fine on Android 4.1 emulator, but I get the following error on Android 2.3: 10-01 15:07:59.594:   • findViewById undefined

    - by areyling
Eclipse is marking findViewById(int) as undefined; it was doing the same thing for getResources(), but I was able to get around that by calling context.getResources() instead (as seen below) and can't seem to find a similar workaround for findViewById. Here is the code: package com.myapp.android.MyWidget; import android.appwidget.AppWidgetProvider; import android.appwidget.AppWidgetManager; import android.content.Context; import android.content.ComponentName; import android.content.pm.PackageManager; import android.content.res.Resources; import android.util.Log; import android.view.View; import android.widget.RemoteViews; import android.widget.Button; import android.os.Bundle; public class MyWidget extends AppWidgetProvider { private static String[] states; @Override public void onEnabled(Context context) { final Button button = (Button) findViewById(R.id.widget_state_button); states = context.getResources().getStringArray(R.array.states); } Is there another package I need to import for findViewById? Thanks in advance.

  • Cross-platform HTML application options

    - by Charles
I'd like to develop a stand-alone desktop application targeting Windows (XP through 7) and Mac (Tiger through Snow Leopard), and if possible iPhone and Android. In order to make it all work with as much common code as possible (and because it's the only thing I'm good at), I'd like to handle the main logic with HTML and JS. Using Adobe AIR is a possibility. And I think I can do this with various application wrappers, using .NET for Windows XP, Objective C for iPhone, Java for Android and native "widget" platform support for Mac and Windows Vista & 7 (though I'd like to keep the widget in the foreground, so the Mac dashboard isn't ideal). Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start? The two sticking points are: I'll certainly need some form of persistent storage (cookies perhaps) to keep state between sessions I'll also probably need access to remote data files, so if I use AJAX and the hosting HTML file resides on the device, it will need to be able to do cross-domain requests. I've done this on the iPhone without any problems, but I'd be surprised if this were possible on other platforms. For me, Android and iPhone will be the easiest to handle, and it looks like I can use Adobe AIR to handle the rest. But I wanted to know if there are any other alternatives. Does anyone have any suggesions?

  • Tunning up Activity with dialog theme

    - by Gaks
I need to launch a Dialog from home screen widget, so I created an Activity with android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Dialog" The problem is, that I would like make it look like standard dialog window ( buttons on the gray background, font and text size, paddings etc), like here: This is how my "dialog" Activity looks like: Is there some standard way (theme?) to make it look like standard system dialogs? Or do I have to imitate it in my own layout?

  • What is a good resources to add content snippets (widgets) to many sites like iGoogle, Facebook and

    - by Brennan
I have found services like ClearSpring and Widgetbox for putting content snippets onto a widget range of social networking web sites, but I would like to build my own widgets without a third party dependency. I have been looking but I have not yet found a good resource to learn how to create widgets/gadgets for multiple sites. It was easy to build a gadget for iGoogle, but Facebook, MySpace and the others are less obvious. What is a good resource to create content snippets for multiple sites?

  • Alternatives to static variables in Android

    - by Mocha
I am using static Arrays and HashMaps to store some values in my AppWidgetProvider class. But they are becoming null when the process dies, so the widget does not work anymore. Are there any alternatives to using static members to store data for an AppWidgetProvider in Android?

  • How do you programmatically set a Style on a View?

    - by Greg
I would like to do something like this: <Button android:id="@+id/button" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_cotent" style="@style/SubmitButtonType" /> But in code The xml approach works fine provided that SubmitButtonType is defined. Now what I assume happens is that the appt parser runs through this xml, generates an AttributeSet. That AttributeSet when passed to context/theme#obtainStyledAttributes() will have the style ref mask anything that is not written inline in this tag. Great that's fine! Now how do we do this programmatically. Button, as well as other View types, has a constructor that has the form: <Widget>(Context context, AttributeSet set, int defStyle). So I thought this would work. Button button = new Button(context, null, R.style.SubmitButtonType); However, I am finding that defStyle is badly documented as it really should be written to be a resourceId to an attribute (from R.attrs) that will be passed to obtainStyledAttributes() as the attribute resource, and not the style resource. After looking at the code, all the view implementations seem to pass 0 as the styleRef. I don't see the harm in having it passed as both the attr and the style resource (more flexible and negligible overhead) However I might be approaching this all wrong. How do you do this in code then other than by setting each individual element of the style to the specific widget you want to style (only possible by looking a the code to see what param maps to which method or set of methods). The only way I have found to do this is: <declare-styleable> <attr name="totallyAdhoc_attribute_just_for_this_case" format="reference"> </declare-styleable> <style name="MyAlreadyExistantTheme" > ... ... <item name="totallyAdhoc_attribute_just_for_this_case">@style/SubmitButtonType</item> </style> And instead of passing R.style.SubmitButtonType as defStyle, I pass the new R.attr.totallyAdhoc_attribute_just_for_this_case. Button button = new Button(context, null, R.attr.totallyAdhoc_attribute_just_for_this_case); This works but sounds way too complicated.

  • Get the currently played song in iTunes

    - by mariosangiorgio
Hi, I'd like to get the name of the song that iTunes is currently playing. What API should I refer to? I'd like to use that both for a dashboard widget or a Java/python application depending on what it is easier to use. Do you have some references for me? Thanks in advance, Mario

Hello, I'm trying to get the dojo tree widget working. It works with a small json object, but when i try it with a large json object it goes wrong. There is no error, just the root node. Is this a normal behavior? Is there a maximum of objects you can load? My json object contains around 800 entries. Thanks, Ewout

  • perl: tk: a way/widget that allows pixel level control over the output

    - by chhh
I want something like a canvas, but where i'd be able to manipulate pixels easily in addition to all the provided geometries, that can be drawn on canvas. Is it possible to embed something like GD::Image into a canvas? So then I maybe could make the image transparent and set some pixels in it (GD::Image-setPixel()) positioning it over the canvas? ps: well, that doesn't necessarily have to be perl, as there seem to be bindings for all the libs for most scripting (and not only) languages.

  • Inline widget-like templates in MODx

    - by Christoffer
Hi, I'm developing my first ever MODx site and I need to have three blocks on the frontpage that contain headline, picture, image caption, long text and a short text. For these I would like to create a custom template that allows me to create sub-resources of "Home" with only these five fields (of which one will allow me to upload images). How can I set this up? Thanks!

  • gwt rounded panel (standards based widget akin to DecoratorPanel)

    - by brad
I'm trying to write an app that uses rounded corners for framing the app. I've found a package on google code that has a RoundedLinePanel and it seems to work... kind of. I'm wondering a few things. Is this what people are using for creating divs with round corners in GWT? The release notes say it hasn't changed in almost a year. Also, I can't seem to set a fixed height of this div (setHeight sets it on the wrapper div, not the inner one). so it's not useful to me as I have a fixed height app. Finally, if anyone can suggest a better mechanism for creating rounded corner divs in GWT I'm all ears.

  • jquery ui-tabs widget , changing the color of the background with css causes problem with display

    - by Ronedog
I'm using the jquery tabs plugin and want to have the background a light grey color. In the css section for tabs, I found this line of code where I manually added the background-color part: .ui-tabs .ui-tabs-panel { padding: 1em 1em; display: block; border-width: 0; background-color:#EEEEEE;} The problem comes as seen in the picture below, where the grey background is only extending down part of the way. I initially thought I could update the div container with the same background color, but it didn't work. It looks like that white portion below might be some kind of padding, so I looked for that in the css but everything I tried had the same effect. Anyone got some ideas? This is what the HTML looks like (Theoretically): <div id="tabs_here"> <ul> <li><a href="#" onclick="$('#T_1').html('Display the data');" >Item Groups</a> </li> </ul> <div id="T_1"></div> </div>

  • style problem with jQueryUI Autocomplete widget (using remote datasource)

    - by blee
<input class="ui-autocomplete-input"/> represents the text field to be autocompleted. <ul>...</ul> contains the list of matching items from the text field input. It is added to the document by remote call as you type. <ul>...</ul> is added just inside the closing </body> tag. I was expecting the <ul>...</ul> to be placed just after the <input class="ui-autocomplete-input"/>. Because this does not happen, the <ul>...</ul> falls outside of the containing div and the resulting style is broken. Suggestions? Can I specify where the <ul>...</ul> gets placed in the document? Thanks in advance for your time.

  • Java Backgroundworker: Scope of Widget to be updated unclear

    - by erlord
Hi all, I am trying to understand the mechanism of org.jdesktop.swingx.BackgroundWorker. Their javadoc presents following example: final JLabel label; class MeaningOfLifeFinder implements BackgroundListener { public void doInBackground(BackgroundEvent evt) { String meaningOfLife = findTheMeaningOfLife(); evt.getWorker().publish(meaningOfLife); } public void process(BackgroundEvent evt) { label.setText("" + evt.getData()); } public void done(BackgroundEvent evt) {} public void started(BackgroundEvent evt) {} } (new MeaningOfLifeFinder()).execute(); Apart from the fact that I doubt the result will ever get published, I wonder how label is passed to the process method, where it is being updated. I thought it's scope is limited to the outside of the BackgroudListener implementation. Quite confused I am ... any answers for me? Thanks in advance

  • Google Analytics Widget Tracking

    - by Kevin Lamb
Hello, I have a form that is generated on a customer's website (lets say customer.com) with javascript that a user fills out and it sends to my site (app.com). I would like to be able to provide information to the customer such as how effective their AdWords campaign was and what search engines users used to end up filling out the form. I have started looking at the multiple domain linking option but I am not sure this is the right way. Is there a way to query what search engine and key words they used and pass this along with the form?

  • What is the best way when creating a Google Widget, to store the data for the Widget to be shared by

    - by Tim McJilton
I know this may end up getting closed quickly. I could not find this in my searching through APIs. And this is probably a very simple question but here we go... How do you store data on a google application you create in which you and others in a specific group or more specifically the people who can edit a specific calendar, can reach this data? Person A,B,C have read/write access to a calendar, and lets say they want to co-ordinate information. I want this information to not be accessible to modify by all 3 though it is not stored in a calendar? (Though I thought about just creating an event in 1900 and then that fullfills that, but at the same time is a very hack way to do it) I would appreciate any insight you can give me when it comes to data handling in google applications, I am very new to it, but have been looking into it.

  • How to embed a Python interpreter in a PyQT widget

    - by Mathias
I want to be able to bring up an interactive python terminal from my python application. Some, but not all, variables in my program needs to be exposed to the interpreter. Currently I use a sub-classed and modified QPlainTextEdit and route all "commands" there to eval or exec, and keep track of a separate namespace in a dict. However there got to be a more elegant and robust way! How? Here is an example doing just what I want, but it is with IPython and pyGTK... http://ipython.scipy.org/moin/Cookbook/EmbeddingInGTK
