    - by dfg
    Hi, I have this little function that opens modal window type thing. The problem is that it doesnt work on IE. All other browser its fine, but on IE, nothing happends: function showOverlayBox() { if( isOpen == false ) return; $('#full').css({ display:'block', left: ( $(window).width() - $('#full').width() )/2, top: ( $(window).height() - $('#full').height() )/2, position:'absolute' }); $('.BgCover').css({ display:'block', width: $(window).width(), height: $(window).height() }); } function doOverlayOpen() { isOpen = true; showOverlayBox(); $('.BgCover').css({opacity:0}).animate( {opacity:0.8} ); return false; } function doOverlayClose() { $('#full').css( 'display', 'none' ); $('.BgCover').animate( {opacity:0}, null, null, function() { $(this).hide(); } ); } Maybe something to do with isOpen == false?

  • How to update document object value in loop (Javascript)

    - by Graham
Hi folks i am a beginer to Java script so appologies if this is a dumb question. I am trying to put the following in a for loop but I can't seem to get it to work. if (rowID==1) { document.form1.class_titleDis_1.value=class_title; } if (rowID==2) { document.form1.class_titleDis_2.value=class_title; } This is what I tried var i=1; for (i=1;i<=2;i++) { document.form1.(class_titleDis_)+i.value=class_title; } I would be really grateful for any suggestions. • Scoping inside Javascript anonymous functions

    - by DCD
I am trying to make a function return data from an ajax call that I can then use. The issue is the function itself is called by many objects, e.g.: function ajax_submit (obj) { var id = $(obj).attr('id'); var message = escape ($("#"+id+" .s_post").val ()); var submit_string = "action=post_message&message="+message; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: document.location, data: submit_string, success: function(html, obj) { alert (html); } }); return false; } Which means that inside the anonymous 'success' function I have no way of knowing what the calling obj (or id) actually are. The only way I can think of doing it is to attach id to document but that just seems a bit too crude. Is there another way of doing this?

  • javascript setTimeout function out of scope.

    - by Keyo
I am trying to call showUpload(); from within two setTimeouts. Neither works. It seems to be out of scope and I'm not sure why. I tried this.showUpload() which didn't work either. $(document).ready(function(){ var progress_key = $('#progress_key').val(); // this sets up the progress bar $('#uploadform').submit(function() { setTimeout("showUpload()",1500); $("#progressbar").progressbar({ value:0}).fadeIn(); }); // uses ajax to poll the uploadprogress.php page with the id // deserializes the json string, and computes the percentage (integer) // update the jQuery progress bar // sets a timer for the next poll in 750ms function showUpload() { $.get("/myid/videos/uploadprogress/" + progress_key, function(data) { if (!data) return; var response; eval ("response = " + data); if (!response) return; var percentage = Math.floor(100 * parseInt(response['bytes_uploaded']) / parseInt(response['bytes_total'])); $("#progressbar").progressbar({ value:percentage}) }); setTimeout("showUpload()", 750); } }); Thank you for your time.

  • Determining which JavaScript/CSS browser features are required

    - by Alan Neal
My website uses a variety of technologies, such as JQuery, new CSS definitions (e.g., moz-selection, -webkit-user-select), etc. The site works perfectly with Google Chrome and Safari, but has some quirkiness in Firefox, IE, and some of the other browsers. I want to write a script to check for necessary browser features but, with several thousand lines of code and CSS definitions, I'm not certain which features I should be looking for. Is there some sort of online analysis (similar to how JSLint operates) that would tell me which features my script and CSS files need? Are there tools (like FireBug) that provide this info?

  • Javascript onunload form submit isn't submitting data

    - by Kevin
I currently have form that checks if a user has unsubmitted changes when they leave the page with a function called through the onunload event. Here's the function: function saveOnExit() { var answer = confirm("You are about to leave the page. All unsaved work will be lost. Would you like to save now?"); if (answer) { document.main_form.submit(); } } And here's the form: <body onunload="saveOnExit()"> <form name="main_form" id="main_form" method="post" action="submit.php" onsubmit="saveScroll()"> <textarea name="comments"></textarea> <input type="submit" name="submit2" value="Submit!"/> </form> I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. The data gets submitted and saved in my database if I just press the submit button for the form. However, trying to submit the form through the onunload event doesn't result in anything being stored, from what I can tell. I've tried adding onclick alerts to the submitt button and onsubmit alerts to the form elements and I can verify that the submit button is being triggered and that the form does get submitted. However, nothing gets passed stored in the database. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

  • JQuery or javascript to find memory usage of page

    - by Tauren
Is there a way to find out how much memory is being used by a web page, or by my jquery application? Here's my situation: I'm building a data heavy webapp using a jquery frontend and a restful backend that serves data in JSON. The page is loaded once, and then everything happens via ajax. The UI provides users with a way to create multiple tabs within the UI, and each tab can contain lots and lots of data. I'm considering limiting the number of tabs they can create, but was thinking it would be nice to only limit them once memory usage has gone above a certain threshold.

  • How to resize table via javascript in IE?

    - by MartyIX
I've got this table: <table id="correctness" style="overflow: hidden;"> <tr><td style="overflow: hidden;"> <div id="correctness-message"></div> <span class="hide"> <button type="button" class="hide" onclick="new DisplayEffect('correctness').Hide(500);">Hide</button> </span> </td> </tr> </table> and a function for resizing the table: function resize(element, size) { element.style.height = size + "px";}; which is called for a certain amount of time (e.g. 1 second) with the ID of table (i.e. "correctness") in order to resize the table from zero height to its full height. This code works in Firefox and Chrome but it doesn't work in IE8. What it does is that it displays right away whole table even thought the height set in "resize" method is much lower. It seems that the cell sets the height of parent table and not the other way around. Is it possible to change the behaviour? I like changing the height of the table better because I can set visibility of the table easily. Thanks for any help!

  • Storing DOM reference elements in a Javascript array

    - by webzide
Dear experts, I was trying to dynamically generate DOM elements using JS. I read from Douglas Crockford's book that DOM is very very poorly structured. Anyways, I would like to create a number of DIVISION elements and store the reference into an array so it could be accessed later. Here's the code for(i=0;i<3;i++){ var div=document.body.appendChild(document.createElement("div")); var arr=new Array(); arr.push(div); } Somehow this would not work..... There is only 1 div element created. When I use the arr.length to test the code there is only 1 element in the array. Is there another way to accomplish this? Thanks in advance

  • JavaScript: count minimal length of characters in text, ignoring special codes inside

    - by ilnur777
I want to ignore counting the length of characters in the text if there are special codes inside in textarea. I mean not to count the special codes characters in the text. I use special codes to define inputing smileys in the text. I want to count only the length of the text ignoring special code. Here is my approximate code I tried to write, but can't let it work: // smileys // ======= function smileys(){ var smile = new Array(); smile[0] = "[]"; smile[1] = "[:D]"; smile[2] = "[]"; smile[3] = "[]"; smile[4] = "[8)]"; smile[5] = "[:-x]"; return(smile); } // symbols length limitation // ========================= function minSymbols(field){ var get_smile = smileys(); var text = field.value; for(var i=0; i<get_smile.length; i++){ for(var j=0; j<(text.length); j++){ if(get_smile[i]==text[j]){ text = field.value.replace(get_smile[i],""); } } } if(text.length < 50){ document.getElementById("saveB").disabled=true; } else { document.getElementById("saveB").disabled=false; } } How the script should be in order to let it work? Thank you!

    - by Matthew
Hello guys, I hope I can explain this right I have two input fields that require a price to be entered into them in order for donation to go through and submit. The problem that I am having is that I would like the validation process check to see if one of the two fields has a value if so then proceed to submit. If both fields are empty then alert. • Using a Javascript Variable & Sending to JSON

    - by D Franks
Hello all! I'm trying to take a URL's hash value, send it through a function, turn that value into an object, but ultimately send the value to JSON. I have the following setup: function content(cur){ var mycur = $H(cur); var pars = "p="+mycur.toJSON(); new Ajax.Updater('my_box', 'test.php', { parameters: pars }); } function update(){ if(window.location.hash.length > 0){ content(window.location.hash.substr(1)); // Everything after the '#' } } var curHashVal = window.location.hash; window.onload = function(){ setInterval(function(){ if(curHashVal != window.location.hash){ update(); curHashVal = window.location.hash; } },1); } But for some reason, I can't seem to get the right JSON output. It will either return as a very large object (1:"{",2:"k") or not return at all. I doubt that it is impossible to accomplish, but I've exhausted most of the ways I can think of. Other ways I've tried were "{" + cur + "}" as well as cur.toObject(), however, none seemed to get the job done. Thanks for the help!

  • Is it possible to capture mouse events on a scroll bar in JavaScript

    - by Nathan
I have an HTML element with overflow: scroll. The click event listener registered with the element is triggered when I click on the element, but not when I click on the scroll bar for the element. Is it possible to capture mouse events which occur on an HTML element's scroll bar? The reason I want to do this is to make a visual popup element disappear when ever a click event occurs anywhere outside the popup element.

  • Javascript: addClassName if input is checked and removeClassName if it was un-checked

    - by BoDiE2003
Im trying to select all the li tags of the document and check if it hasClassName('yes') so if it has, it will remove it. But im having a TypeError: Object [object HTMLLIElement], has no method 'hasClassName' error. This is the DOM method: document.observe("dom:loaded", function() { $(document.body).select('input').each(function(element) { element.observe('click', function() { init(); }); init(); }); }); The previous code will take the init fuction and check the if there are checked inputs and add them the 'yes' class name, but if I un-check those inputs, the class remains. This is the funcion that Im trying to do dynamic (add and remove class 'yes'); function init() { $(document.body).select('input').each(function(element) { if (element.checked) { element.up('li').addClassName('yes'); } if ($(document.body).select('li').hasClassName('yes')) { element.removeClassName('yes'); } }) } Can you help me solving the last part of this function, so the removeclassname method will work? Thank you

  • Iterating thorough JSON with jQuery/Javascript

    - by Aaron Salazar
    I am trying to fill a table with JSON data. When I run the following script I get only the last entry of 10. I must have to do some sort of .append() or something. I've tried to put this in but it just returns nothing. $(function() { $('#ReportedIssue').change(function() { $.getJSON('/CurReport/GetUpdatedTableResults', function(json) { //alert(json.GetDocumentResults.length); for (var i = 0; i < json.GetDocumentResults.length; i++) { $('#DocumentInfoTable').html( "<tr>" + "<td>" + json.GetDocumentResults[i].Document.DocumentId + "</td>" + "<td>" + json.GetDocumentResults[i].Document.LanguageCode + "</td>" + "<td>" + json.GetDocumentResults[i].ReportedIssue + "</td>" + "<td>" + json.GetDocumentResults[i].PageNumber + "</td>" + "</tr>" ) }; }); }); }); Thank you, Aaron

  • javascript replace div tags for p tags where it has no class

    - by Tom
I would like to replace div tags for p tags but only when the div tag does not have a class. So this: <div class="myDiv"> <div>sdfglkhj sdfgkhl sdfkhgl sdf</div> <div>dsf osdfghjksdfg hsdfg</div> </div> Would become: <div class="myDiv"> <p>sdfglkhj sdfgkhl sdfkhgl sdf</p> <p>dsf osdfghjksdfg hsdfg</p> </div> I've tried .replace("<div>", "<p>").replace("</div>","</p>") but this replaces the closing tag of the one with a class.
