• Is there a way for IIS6 to do http and https together in the same site?

  The site needs to be accessible both from HTTP and HTTPS (in case the client wants the form submissions to be secure or not) The site is hosted in IIS6 and ideally I'd like to be able to just have one website in there and it can handle both http and https..is this possible? alternatively i was thinking maybe creating a "secure" subdirectory in the site and duplicating everything in there as well..is that feasible? this is further complicated that it is using asp.net 3.5's routing ability to do url rewrites so even if I create a secure subdirectory, i dunno if it will actually pick up that it's supposed to be SSL approved

• How do I make calls to a WCF service with jquery ajax from an SSL-secured page?

  I have a WCF service returning JSON to jQuery ajax calls and presenting the results on an ASPX page. When the page is NOT under SSL, the ajax calls work perfectly. When the page IS under SSL, the calls fail. I understand that this behavior must be due to the Same Origin Policy (SOP). So, how do I setup my WCF service to accept calls from an SSL-secured page? Does the WCF service also need to be secured? If so, how do I do this? Thanks, Joe

  When creating an sfPropelRouteCollection, how can I edit the action names that the collection will generate? For example: # Routing for "product" CRUD product: class: sfPropelRouteCollection options: model: Product module: product actions: [new, create, edit, update, delete] How can I change the actual action that is called for any of the new/create/edit/update/delete methods? I'd like for them to call "ajaxNew," "ajaxCreate," etc. so the URL would look something like "product/ajaxNew", or the action for "update" would be "ajaxUpdate". • Deploy CakePHP to a subfolder

  I have created a CakePHP 2 app, and now I'm trying to deploy it to a production web server. My app uses the default folder structure (app/lib/plugins/vendors), default htaccess, default routing, nothing special. I've been developing locally as if the app were in the root folder of the site (e.g. http://mycakeapp.localhost/ takes me to the site). But I'm deploying to a site (shared hosting) where that will not be the case (e.g. http://www.somedomain.com/mycakeapp). It doesn't work (I didn't really expect it to), so I assumed I had to tweak one or more htaccess files. I tried modifying the root .htaccess as suggested in this post, but that only partially worked (the link to the CSS didn't work, for instance): <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^mycakeapp$ mycakeapp/app/webroot/ [L] RewriteRule ^mycakeapp/(.*)$ mycakeapp/app/webroot/$1 [L] </IfModule> So what should I do to all the htaccess files to make this CakePHP site work in a subfolder?

• Monitoring for non-pgp files

  For privacy reasons, I want to prevent my users from posting unencrypted files to my ftp site. It is company policy that all data exchanges of sensitive data be encrypted with PGP. I'd like to setup a program to monitor the ftp folders and whenever a new file is placed there, verify that it is in fact encrypted. I can't just rely on the file extension because in some cases, our trading partners require a specific filename that doesn't have a .PGP on the end. Is there a library or another method I can use to verify that a given file is encrypted? I'm using C# and .NET on a windows platform.

• Forbid developer to commit code because of making weekly build

  Our development team (about 40 developers) has a formal build every two weeks. We have a process that in the "build day", every developers are forbiden to commit code into SVN. I don't think this is a good idea because: Build will take days (even weeks in bad time) to make and BVT. People couldn't comit code as they will, they will not work. People will comit all codes in a hurge pack, so the common is hard to write. I want know if your team has same policy, and if not how do you take this situation. Thanks

  I have implemented a new routing protocol named AODV2 in ns-2.35. I am using ns-2.35 in fedora 13. All .cc files have a .o file with them that means recompilation is done. But I am getting an error in response to the 'make' command.   hi, i am new to a php site, only familiar with .net web forms sites. i can't figure out how routing is working on this php site. www.oursite.com/suggestions.php is to suggestions.php www.oursite.com/suggestions also loads the php fine www.oursite.com/suggestions/ loads the php, but no css is applied www.oursite.com/suggestions/anything - anything that comes after the '/' is ignored and suggestions is loaded without css. so oursite.com/suggestions////// works, as does oursite.com/suggestions/2/2/2/2/whatever i have searched but not found any good explanation on how this is working. can someone explain or provide a good resource? thank you.

  I've been googling around and I can't seem to find anything which explains the use of ZF router well. I've read the documentation on the site, which seems to only talk about re-routing. I am trying to make the format: /module/value/controller/action give /module/controller/action passing on value as a parameter e.g. /store/johnsmithbigsale/home/newstuff would route to /store/home/newstuff passing on johnsmithbigsale as the value to a parameter with a hidden namespace e.g. storeName. Some help would be greatful!

  I want to build a page for end users to visit (in our MPLS Network) and it show the following information in regards to them: Computer Name OS Disk Space Memory IP Address Active Directory User Name Password Expiration Time (As defined by Global Policy) Maybe a few other things such as Trend Micro Office current version vs. their version, # of MS Updates needed (we utilize WSUS), and a few other things in the future. My question is how would I pull this information from the user when they visit the page? What is the proper function for this? Anyone have examples they wish to share for me to learn by if possible? • [Android] Force close when trying to parse JSON with AsyncTask in the background

I want to show a ProgressDialog and i read that i need to use AsyncTask that. • How can I override an HTML "rules" attribute using CSS?

  The DITA Open Toolkit automatically inflicts some inline table attributes when one publishes to HTML, including frame="border" and rules="all". I need to override this "rules" attribute using CSS styles for cells, and while I can get the desired result in IE and Chrome, Firefox puts solid black gridlines in the table and refuses to budge on the matter. Obviously I can't edit the HTML, company policy is to not edit the XSLT, so how can I remove these gridlines using CSS alone? I've tried various cunning combinations of border-xxxxxx styles and given them !important declarations to no effect. Thanks, Andrew

• Use Tomcat with Java SecurityManager?

  I'm writing a web application that is supposed to run on Tomcat on Ubuntu. On Ubuntu, Tomcat is per default configured to run with the Java SecurityManager. Besides my own web application, there will only be some well known third party web applications related to my own, like the BIRT report engine. If one of the web applications fails or gets compromised, it may take down all the others without harm, because they all belong together. What I don't wont to happen is that a compromised web app compromises the system itself, like calling rm -r / Do I need to use the java security manager to achieve this? Or is it only necessary to protect one web app from the other? I'd really like to prevent the effort to create .policy files for all the 3rd party web applications I intend to use.

  I've got an Asp.net MVC app and before being able to go live, the IT have requested for us to comply with their password policy. The flexibility of AspnetSqlMembershipProvider doesn’t quite satisfy the requirement. The password strength and length rules are as follows: one lowercase one Uppercase one number and or special character 8 characters in length so far, aspnetsqlmembershipprovider is good... Not allowed to use: Dictionary words Names, real or fictional Plain language phrases Dates Telephone numbers Car registration numbers User IDs Postal codes Organization name Only the first 4 criteria are satisfied by the aspnetsqlmembershipprovider. Do you know of any third party products that offers this functionality (preferably in the form of a custom membership provider)?

  i have an RoR application Log, which similar to the book store app, my logs_controller has all default action: index, show, update, create, delete.. now i need to add new action :toCSV, i defined it in logs_controller, and add new route in the config/routes as: map.resources :logs, :collection = { :toCSV = :get }. from irb, i checked the routes and see the new routes added already: rs = ActionController::Routing::Routes puts rs.routes GET /logs/toCSV(.:format)? {:controller="logs", :action="toCSV"} then ran ‘rake routes’ command in shell, it returned: toCSV_logs GET /logs/toCSV(.:format) {:controller="logs", :action="toCSV"} everything seems working. finally in my views code, i added the following: link_to 'Export to CSV', toCSV_logs_path when access it in the brower 'http://localhost:3000/logs/toCSV', it complained: Couldn't find Log with ID=toCSV i checked in script/server, and saw this one: ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound (Couldn't find Log with ID=toCSV): app/controllers/logs_controller.rb:290:in `show' seems when i click that link, it direct it to the action 'show' instead of 'toCSV', thus it took 'toCSV' as an id...anyone know why would this happen? and to fix it? • Is it possible to exclude some files from checkin (TFS) ?

  We use configuration files within various projects under source control (TFS), where each developer has to make some adjustments in his local copy to configure his environment. The build process takes care about replacing the config files with the server configuration as a part of the deployment, so it doesn't actually matter what is in the repository. However, we would anyway like to keep some kind of a default non-breaking version of config files in the repository, so that e.g. people not involved in the particular project won't run into troubles because of local misconfiguration. We tried to resolve this by introducing the check-in policy that simply forbids to check-in the config files. This works fine, but just because we're lazy to always uncheck those checkboxes in the pending changes window, the question comes : is it possible to transparently disable the check-in of particular files without keeping them out of source control (e.g. locking their current version) ?

  Our (small to medium-sized) company is going to start enforcing an internet policy which everyone, including the team of 4 senior developers, will be subject to. Amongst other things, this means that developers will not be able to access: web based e-mail (Hotmail, Yahoo, Googlemail) instant messaging accounts (MSN Messenger) social networking sites (Facebook) streaming media (internet radio) At the moment, we don't have any restrictions on our internet use, so I really want to find out what the effect on the team will be. • Printable Version of Google Visualizations DataTable

  I have a custom routing application that takes information for a route from google maps. It then creates a Google Visualizations DataTable to hold all the steps in the route. My current problem is that in order to reduce overflow for very large routes, I have enabled paging in the options of the DataTable. This leads to a not so printer friendly version because only the portion of the data that is shown in the table will be printed. The other portions of the table are loaded dynamically by the API when you click prev and next. Is there a not so hard way to get the DataTable to be printer friendly when it comes time without sacrificing the ability to have paging enabled?

  I am looking for lightweight messaging framework in Java. My task is to process events in a SEDA’s manner: I know that some stages of the processing could be completed quickly, and others not, and would like to decouple these stages of processing. Let’s say I have components A and B and processing engine (be this container or whatever else) invokes component A, which in turn invokes component B. I do not care if execution time of component B will be 2s, but I do care if execution time of component A is below 50ms, for example. Therefore, it seems most reasonable for component A to submit a message to B, which B will process at the desired time. I am aware of different JMS implementations and Apache ActiveMQ: they are too heavyweight for this. I searched for some lightweight messaging (with really basic features like messages serialization and simplest routing) to no avail. Do you have anything to recommend in this issue?

• 'Step Into' is suddenly not working in Visual Studio

  All of a sudden, I have run into an issue where I cannot step into any code through debugging in Visual Studio. The step over works fine, but it refuses to step into (F11) any of my code. This was working before, now all of a sudden it does not. I've tried some things below, but I still had no success: Delete all bin files in every project in my solution, clean solution, re-build solution. Build projects in solution indivdualy Restart machine It an ASP.NET C# application consuming a WCF sevice locally. It is in debug mode. I have a breakpoint set on the page consuming the service. The breakpoint hits, but it will not step into the service code. The ASP.NET site and the service code is all in the same solution. This all of a sudden does not work, it did work before. How can I fix this problem? Adding a breakpoint to the service project I get a warning: Breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document. I deleted all the bin folders for all the projects and re-built them one by one. They all succeeded, but still I am getting the symbols won't load on any breakpoint I put into any project in the solution other than the ASP.NET project where the breakpoint works. I was able to debug step into all the projects before, this is an all of a sudden thing. Information from the output window..   I am working with URL routing , and have some issues. I want my url to be like this: www.domain.com/p/myproduct But I also want to be able to retrieve the ID of the product, without accessing the database. I thought about having a URL like: www.domain.com/p/myproduct/1 But if I could hide the ID it would be better. So, how do I do it the simplest way?   I'm trying to deploy Rails 2.1.2 with Apache 2.2.10 and FastCGI (yeah, bad, ancient, ugly, I know). And I know it's no programming question, but please bear with me. My application can be accessed via example.com/app/public/, but I want to access it via example.com/app/. In my .htaccess-File (in the app/-directory!) I have: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /app/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ public/dispatch.fcgi [QSA,L] How can I forward each request going to app/ to app/public/? Every time I try this (like, with RewriteRule ^.*$ public/$1 [QSA]) I get a routing error: No route matches "/app/" with {:method=>:get} Help?

  I have a site where most of my pages are arranged in business area folders, e.g. Activations, Outdoors, Branding. Each folder has a small web.config that protects the contents against access by people without a role for that business area. However, basic admin for most business areas is done via Dynamic Data pages. These are only basically protected by not appearing in the menu unless the user has the correct role, but they are still accessible directly via URL, because of the {table}/{Action} routing used by Dynamic Data. What can I do to protect these pages against direct access?

• Is ReaderWriterLockSlim.EnterUpgradeableReadLock() essentially the same as Monitor.Enter()?

  So I have a situation where I may have many, many reads and only the occasional write to a resource shared between multiple threads. A long time ago I read about ReaderWriterLock, and have read about ReaderWriterGate which attempts to mitigate the issue where many writes coming in trump reads and hurt performance. However, now I've become aware of ReaderWriterLockSlim... From the docs, I believe that there can only be one thread in "upgradeable mode" at any one time. In a situation where the only access I'm using is EnterUpgradeableReadLock() (which is appropriate for my scenario) then is there much difference to just sticking with lock(){}? Here's the excerpt: A thread that tries to enter upgradeable mode blocks if there is already a thread in upgradeable mode, if there are threads waiting to enter write mode, or if there is a single thread in write mode. Or, does the recursion policy make any difference to this?
