• Cannot find Power Management Tab in XP

  I have the problem that when I send my computer to sleep it wakes if you bump the table, floor, burp etc. I have read many threads that say go to Device Manager Mouse Properties Power Management Tab and uncheck the box for wake. My problem is I do not have a Power Management Tab! Anyone know how to enable the tab or stop the mouse from waking my machine? And no, turning it upside down doesn't work either!

  If the title doesn't say it all let me know. This would be helpful for IMAP folders within T-bird, when I'm looking through threads on a particular issue, but don't know if I sent the last message to the recipient, or they sent the last message to me. I would be able to quickly scroll in one column and see exactly when the last communication on that issue was. Is there a way to make a 'smart' column that would do this?

Historically many of my Debianite friends and myself have simply altered apt's sources.list and run apt-get dist-upgrade. I follow Ubuntu's recommendations, but I've always wondered what the magic difference between these two processes is. What, exactly, does do-release-upgrade do, on say an upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10?   I have a NAS filer share say \xyz.abc.def.com. I am trying to access the share from Windows server 2008R2 Server. We have a CNAME xyz.def.com pointing to xyz.abc.def.com. I am able to access the share using \xyz.abc.def.com as well as the IP but unable to access the share using \xyz.def.com a) DisableStrictNameChecking is 1 on Windows Server 2008R2 b) NetBios over TCP is default. I tried setting it to Enabled but no luck I get the error 0x80004005, unspecified error

  Hi, I'm using Snow Leopard and I've just downloaded Google Chrome for Mac. However it doesn't load any page: This webpage is not available.   Hey, I have a bluetooth "headset" (it's more like a speaker with a microphone on it, but it registers as a headset) and I want to play music through it. I also want to play the same music through the "normal" speakers on the laptop. Is this possible? If so, is it possible to play two different streams on each speaker? Say if I wanted to DJ a party or something, I'd want to hear the upcoming song and mix it before sending it live.

  So I use a custom Hotmail domain name. Sometimes I send emails to people but they never reply. I ask these people and they say that they never got the email. It's like packets are being dropped somehow. I just send regular emails from the online email application. One thing to note is that most of the time the dropped emails are the emails that have not been sent to other Hotmail users.

• "pg_ctl: could not find postgres program executable" but only on startup?

  I'm having a strange new issue with PostgreSQL. After the last two reboots it hasn't started properly, and that was the error in the log (it occurs early enough in the startup process to not say anything in Postgres' own logs.) • Any reason not to disable the Windows pagefile given enough physical RAM?

  The question of disabling the Windows pagefile has already been discussed quite a bit, for example here and here and here. People continue to upvote answers that say "you should not disable your pagefile even if you have plenty of RAM", but I have yet to see any concrete, verifiable reasons being given for this advice. As far as I can see, if you never need to read from the pagefile (because you have enough RAM) then performance could only be worse with it enabled due to Windows pre-emptively writing to it. At best, performance would be the same. I can't see how it could possibly be improved by writing data you never need to read. So my question is: Assuming that I have enough physical RAM for everything I do, is there any reason I should not disable the pagefile? Let's say the version of Windows is Windows XP x64 SP2 or Windows Server 2003 x64 SP2 (same thing). If it's different for Windows Server 2008 x64 I'd be interested to hear an answer for that as well. I'm looking for specific, objective reasons from good sources, not just opinions. Something like "here are the benchmarks done with and without a pagefile and the results were better with a pagefile, even with enough RAM" or "according to this MS KB article problem X occurs if you disable the pagefile". So far the only reasons I've seen mentioned are: Even if you think you have enough RAM you might run out. OK, but for the purposes of this question, let's just take it as a given that I have enough. Maybe I only ever read my email and I have 16GB RAM. Or 128GB. Or 1TB. Or whatever - but it's enough for 100% of what I do, 100% of the time. Another way to think of it is: if I have x MB physical RAM and y MB pagefile and I never run out of RAM in that configuration, would I not be better off, performance-wise, with x+y MB physical RAM and no pagefile? Windows is "used to" having a paging file and it might not function as reliably (from Understanding the Impact of RAM on Overall System Performance That's rather vague and I find it hard to believe, given that MS has provided the option to disable the pagefile. Windows knows what it's doing better than you. No - it doesn't know that I won't run more programs or load more data, but I do.

I tried DVD Flick but when the DVD was done the audio was off by at least a full second. • Why did my DocumentRoot change?

  My document root (suddenly and unexpectedly) changed to /htdocs from /var/www. This happened after I restarted apache2. The only thing I changed was the httpd.conf file which now reads as follows: <VirtualHost *> ServerName hostname UseCanonicalName ON </VirtualHost> I've greped through the entire /etc directory looking for DocumentRoot and they all say /var/www.
