  • Root view controllers and modal dialogs

    In a custom UIViewController, if I have a member UINavigationController that I initialize with self as the root view, like this: navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:self]; then presenting a modal dialog does not hide the tab bar at the bottom of the screen. The result is that if the user switches to a different tab while a modal dialog is displayed, when they pop back to the tab that was displaying a modal dialog then subsequent calls to presentModalViewController do not display a modal dialog at all, even if I call dismissModalViewControllerAnimated as a result of the tab switch. If I initialize the UINavigationController with out setting self as the root controller, navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] init]; then the tab bar is hidden as expected. I've changed things in my program so that this isn't really an issue for me anymore, but I'm not sure that I understand why this is happening. Is it considered bad practice to have a navigation controller with self as the root, if the nav controller is going to be displaying modal dialogs?

  • XSLT: How do I trigger a template when there is no input file?

    I'm creating a template which produces output based on a single string, passed via parameter, and does not use an input XML document. xsltproc seems to happily run with a single parameter specifying the stylesheet, but I don't see a way to trigger a template without an input file (no parameter to xsltproc to run a named template, for example). I'd like to be able to run: xsltproc --stringparam bar baz foo.xsl But I'm currently having to run, with the "main" template matching "/": echo '<xml/>' | xsltproc --stringparam bar baz foo.xsl - How can I get this to work? I'm sure I've seen other templates in the past which were meant to be run without an input document, but I don't remember how they worked or where to find them again. :-)

    Hi All, I am working on some Plesk integration using the XML API and I am trying to figure out how to parse the XML response that I get back. Most of the data is fine, but the Limits and Permissions are setout differently. Essentially they are set out like so: <data> <limits> <limit> <name>foo</name> <value>bar</value> </limit> <limit> <name>foo2</name> <value>bar2</value> </limit> </limits> </data> How do I extract 'bar' from the xml given that I know I want the value of 'foo', but not the value of 'foo2'?

    I'm trying to write a DSL that allows me to do Policy.name do author "Foo" reviewed_by "Bar" end The following code can almost process it: class Policy include Singleton def self.method_missing(name,&block) puts name puts "#{yield}" end def self.author(name) puts name end def self.reviewed_by(name) puts name end end Defining my method as class methods (self.method_name) i can access it using the following syntax: Policy.name do Policy.author "Foo" Policy.reviewed_by "Bar" end If i remove the "self" from the method names, and try to use my desired syntax, then i receive an error "Method not Found" in the Main so it could not find my function until the module Kernel. Its ok, i understand the error. But how can i fix it? How can i fix my class to make it work with my desired syntax that?

    Hey All, I am a little stuck and need some advice/help. And not necessarily for ProgressEvents, but when going through steps. That is, the listener functions are called and I get trace output like: updateDatabase called. Setting step:Updating project Setting Perc 25 Setting Perc 50 Setting Perc 75 Setting Perc 100 The issue is, only the very last percent and step is shown. that is, when it's all done, the progress bar jumps to 100% and shows the last step label.     I read http://stackoverflow.com/questions/839178/why-is-javas-iterator-not-an-iterable and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27240/why-arent-enumerations-iterable, but I still don't understand why this: void foo(Iterator<X> it) { for (X x : it) { bar(x); baz(x); } } was not made possible. In other words, unless I'm missing something, the above could have been nice and valid syntactic sugar for: void foo(Iterator<X> it) { for (X x; it.hasNext();) { x = it.next(); bar(x); baz(x); } }

  • Looping an executable to get the result from Python script

    In my python script, I need to call within a for loop an executable, and waiting for that executable to write the result on the "output.xml". How do I manage to use wait() & how do I know when one of my executable is finished generating the result to get the result?   • Rails: Accessing the username/password used for HTTP Basic Auth?

    I'm building a basic API where user information can be retrieved after that user's login and password are correctly sent. Right now I'm using something like this: http://foo:[email protected]/api/user.xml So, what I need to do is access the user/password sent in the request (the foo and bar) but am not sure how to access that info in a Rails controller. Then I'd check those variables via a quick User.find and then set those as the username and password variables for authenticate_or_request_with_http_basic. It's possible I'm looking at this at the completely wrong way, but that's where I'm at right now. :)

  • QScrollBar Snap to value

    Hi all, I'm wanting to implement a scroll bar that snaps to particular values (like windows can snap to the edge of a screen). The idea is that as I drag the scrollbar down it snaps the bar to values as it approaches them. My scenario is displaying 3 chapters of text. I would like to be able to snap to the beginning or end of a chapter. Of course, to go to the start of the first chapter the scrollbar one can just scroll to the top and likewise with the end of the third chapter. So I'd like to draw two lines on the scrollbar to represent the start of the second and third chapters and then have the top and bottom of the scrollbar snap to those lines. So I'm really actually wanting to use this within a QTextBrowser but I can control a QTextBrowser with a "QSnapScrollBar" I just don't really know where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to solve Python memory leak when using urrlib2?

    Hi, I'm trying to write a simple Python script for my mobile phone to periodically load a web page using urrlib2. In fact I don't really care about the server response, I'd only like to pass some values in the URL to the PHP. The problem is that Python for S60 uses the old 2.5.4 Python core, which seems to have a memory leak in the urrlib2 module. As I read there's seems to be such problems in every type of network communications as well. This bug have been reported here a couple of years ago, while some workarounds were posted as well. I've tried everything I could find on that page, and with the help of Google, but my phone still runs out of memory after ~70 page loads. Strangely the Garbege Collector does not seem to make any difference either, except making my script much slower. It is said that, that the newer (3.1) core solves this issue, but unfortunately I can't wait a year (or more) for the S60 port to come. here's how my script looks after adding every little trick I've found: import urrlib2, httplib, gc while(true): url = "http://something.com/foo.php?parameter=" + value f = urllib2.urlopen(url) f.read(1) f.fp._sock.recv=None # hacky avoidance f.close() del f gc.collect() Any suggestions, how to make it work forever without getting the "cannot allocate memory" error?   • How can I dismiss keyboard in iPhone OS 3.2 with text field in popover?

    I have several text fields in a custom uiviewcontroller subclass, which is displayed within a popover. The popover is displayed form a bar button. I want the keyboard to go down when the popover is dismissed (either by the user tapping the bar button again, or tapping outside the popover. From the view controller that displays the popover, when the popover is dismissed, in either of the 2 fashions, I call [optionsController dismissFirstResponder]; Optionscontroller is the uiviewcontroller subclass in the popover. Dismissfirstresponder is a method I defined: -(void)dsimissFirstResponder { [nameField resignFirstResponder]; [descriptionField resignFirstResponder]; [helpField resignFirstResponder]; } Those are three IBoutlets which I connected in the xib to the text fields. That doesn't work. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Routing zend request through a default controller when controller not found.

    Below is a function defined in my Bootstrap class. I must be missing something fundamental in the way Zend does routing and dispatching. What I am trying to accomplish is simple: For any request /foo/bar/* that is not dispatchable for any reason try /index/foo/bar/. The problem I'm having is when the FooController exists I get Action "foo" does not exist.   • webOS style view switching on iPhone app

    Hello, I have been working with a iPhone app that I would like to have switch views like the Palm Pre does for multitasking. I know the usual way of switching views by using the black bar at the bottom of the app but the app I am working on does not lend itself to having a big black bar in the way (see attached picture #1). I guess my question is, how do I shrink the current view (Current Location window) and show other views on the sides? (see attached picture #2) Then be able to swipe left and right to view other views.   • Positioning elements outside an Activity on Android

    Is there a way to absolutely position an UI element on Android so that it is located outside an Activity? For example: can you create a fullscreen ImageView simply by moving/resizing an ImageView inside an existing regular Activity instead of creating a new fullscreen activity? EDIT: Re-reading my question I see I wasn't very clear about what I'm trying to accomplish. I'd like to temporarily extend an element to cover the notification bar at the top of the screen. I need to create a semitranslucent fullscreen overlay but since translucent activities cannot cover the notification bar I'm trying to find out if it's possible for an element to break out of activity's bounds and resize itself to fill the whole screen, top to bottom.

  • Cannot do a ncurses overwrite(curscr, savewin) correctly because I ripoffline() before

    I have a C/ncurses program that I'm debugging/maintaining. This program does ripoffline twice: first, to put a title bar and the second time to put a menu bar on the top of the page. I need to dropdown some menus so I save the screen before I drop down the menus. In the InitMenu function, I have the following code: savewin = newwin (0, 0, 0, 0); overwrite (curscr, savewin); wrefresh(savewin) The problem is that savewin is being copied WITH the menu and the ripped off lines, but it gets drawn on the screen BELOW the rippedoff lines. This duplicates the ripped off lines on the screen. Only realizing where the problem was took me a while. Now, I have no idea how to fix it. Ideally, I would like to copy curscr to savewin without the ripped off lines. Any ideas?

  • Postback problem downloading zip file

    I've got a problem on a webforms application where a user selects some criteria from dropdowns on the page and hits a button on the page which calls this method: protected void btnSearch_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) They then click on button to download a zip file based on the criteria which calls this method: protected void btnDownload_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) In IE, they are prompted with the bar at the top of the browser that tells them "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer". When they click on that bar to download the file, it fires the btnSearch_Click event again. Response.ContentType and Response.AddHeader has been set up correctly. The problem is, that btnSearch appends criteria so basically it is being appended twice and causing problems. Is there something I can do to prevent this? This is a vs2008 web app using c# 3.5 for what it's worth. Thanks!

  • R ggplot barplot; Fill based on two separate variables

    A picture says more than a thousand words. As you can see, my fill is based on the variable variable. Within each bar there is however multiple data entities (black borders) since the discrete variable complexity make them unique. What I am trying to find is something that makes each section of the bar more distinguishable than the current look. Preferable would be if it was something like shading.     I'm trying to render data from an AJAX response as a bar chart with jqplot. To render this bar chart I use two variables: s1 which contains the numbers ex: s1 = [22,67,32,89] ticks which contains the name corresponding to a number inside s1 ex: ticks = ["Jack", "Mary", "Paul", "John"] So my AJAX returns two variables, data1 and data2.   • mod_rewrite in conjunction with "options indexes"

    I have a directory ("files") where sub-directories and files are going to be created and stored over time. The directories also need to deliver a directory listing, using "options indexes", but only if a user is authenticated, and authorized. I have that part built, and working, by doing the following: <Directory /var/www/html/files> Options Indexes IndexOptions FancyIndexing SuppressHTMLPreamble HeaderName /includes/autoindex/auth.php </Directory> Now I need to take care of file delivery. To force authentication for files, I have built the following: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} -f RewriteRule /files/(.*) /auth.php I also tried: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !-d RewriteRule /files/(.*) /auth.php Both directives are redirecting to auth.php when I request: foo.com/files/bar/ foo.com/files/bar/baz I am outputting the SERVER global on auth.php during testing and it is showing the requests as I made them (I thought Apache may have been doing something behind the scenes by adding something like "index.html" to the end with "Options Indexes" being on). Ideas?
