The idea is to pass an IList of objects (people) that have the following structure: String Name String Address String ID I want to read the data from the JQGrid and pass it to the controller to fill the IList. I'm trying to build the data object to pass through the Ajax data parameter. I'm currently using: "where (convert( dateTime, '" & datetimeVariable.ToString & "',103) <= DatetimeField)" But I believe datetimeVariable.ToString will return a different value depending on the culture where the system is running. How would you handle this so it is culture independent?

    We need to render an ActionResult to a string to add pages to our internal search engine index. We settled on this solution to render to string. I've run into a problem with the ExecuteResult call used to process the View. Code Snippet: var oldController = controllerContext.RouteData.Values["controller"]; controllerContext.RouteData.Values["controller"] = typeof(TController).Name.Replace("Controller", ""); viewResult.ExecuteResult(controllerContext); // this line breaks I receive the following error: "Object reference not set to instance of object" error. I've confirmed viewResult is not null, so the exception has to be thrown internally in ExecuteResult. What could we be missing?

  • Where do DQL statements live in an application that is using Zend Framework and Doctrine

    In an application that is using Zend Framework 1.10 and Doctrine 1.2, where should the DQL statements live if our application is built such that it has a Service Layer and a Gateway(aka Doctrine_Table) layer. It seems that our possibilities include: 1) Placing the DQL statements in the Service layer which seems to be a bit too high in our application hierarchy to store DQL. 2) Placing the DQL statements within each model's Table/Gateway which seems a bit redundant because we also need to expose the DQL statements that do things such as getAllUsers() through the Service layer. Which of these is a preferable design? We intend to make use of the Service layer as much as possible so that other projects might consume various parts of our application.

    This is crazy, I have been trying for hours to get this to work. My client wants to be able to reset password for uses who have forgotten them The only parameter he has is the UserName. He does NOT want the user to be able to reset the password themselves, no that would be too easy...ARGHHHHH!! Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions how I could reset someones password or give them a new temp password somehow, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Steve

    How should one deal with an MVC controller returning a null ViewResult?   • Possible Encoding Issue Reading HTM File using .Net Streamreader

    I have an HTML file with a ® (copyright) and ™ (trademark) symbol in the text. These are just two among many other symbols. When I read the html file into a literal control it converts the symbols to something else. The copyright symbol converts to ? (open box in ff) The trademark symbol converts to ™ (as expected) If (System.IO.File.Exists(FullName)) Then Dim StreamReader1 As New System.IO.StreamReader(FullName) Contents.Text = StreamReader1.ReadToEnd() StreamReader1.Close() End If Contents is a <asp:Literal runat="server" ID="Contents"></asp:Literal> and it's the only control in the aspx page. From some research I think this is related to the encoding but I don't know why it would change how to fix it. The html file does not contain any Content-Type settings in the head section.

How can I make it stream and play as it's still downloading? Or is this up to the client/receiver application to manage?

The text of these boxes get set on page load. then I have a submit button that calls a sub to update the table with the new values (text) in the text box. The data that was entered into the form was preserved and displayed again when the view was rendered with the validation summary. My question is how data preserved?
