  • Rails: Check output of path helper from console

    Rails defines a bunch of magic with named routes that make helpers for your routes. Sometimes, especially with nested routes, it can get a little confusing to keep track of what URL you'll get for a given route helper method call. Is it possible to, using the Ruby console, see what link a given helper function will generate? For example, given a named helper like post_path(post) I want to see what URL is generated.

  • attachment is not proper in mail in rails

    hi, i'm sending a mail with attachment(1.pdf) but in mail it doesnt shows 1.pdf instead it shows some random file named "ATT008220.dat". i'm using Rails 3.0 following is the code i'm using: @file = File.read('c:/1.pdf') @file.force_encoding('BINARY') attachment "application/octet-stream" do |a| a.body = @file end anybody knows why its happening? any idea?     I have installed Ruby on Rails in Ubuntu 10.04: $ sudo gem install rails $ echo $PATH prints: /home/koningbaard/.gem/ruby/1.8/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games But when I run $ rails --version, BASH tells me that rails is not currenly installed, and that I can install it with apt-get, which I don't want (I want it installed through gem). Can anyone help me where I can find it and how I can add it to my PATH? Thanks

    Hi, I'm running through the Ruby on Rails tutorial at http://guides.rubyonrails.org/getting_started.html (adjusting where appropriate for Google's App Engine). All is well up till section 6.3: when I try to click "New Post", I get the following error: Internal Server Error (500) Request Method: GET Request URL: http://localhost:8080/500.html access denied (java.io.FilePermission /dev/urandom read) It works fine when I upload the application to Google's App Engine; it's just on my development machine (OS X 10.6) that it doesn't work. Since articles may be fairly lengthy I'd ideally like strikethrough and highlighting, similar to github and wikipedia for example.     Hi, I'm trying to redirect from one controller to another in Rails and I am getting this error: undefined method `call' for nil:NilClass The code is pretty simple (in def create method): @blog_post_comment = BlogPostComment.new(params[:blog_post_comment]) respond_to do |format| if @blog_post_comment.save flash[:notice] = 'Comment was successfully created.' redirect_to(@blog_post_comment.blog_post) else render :action => "new" end end Save goes ok, the value gets into the database. How can I work around the redirect fail?

I want different controllers/actions to be invoked depending on the presence of a parameter after the '?'. I was trying something like this... map.connect "api/my/path?apple=:applecode", :controller = 'apples_controller', :action = 'my_action' map.connect "api/my/path?banana=:bananacode", :controller = 'bananas_controller', :action = 'my_action' For routing purposes I don't care about the value of the parameter, as long as it is available to the controller in the 'params' hash

I moved some constants to a separate module ie: module Fns Fclick = "function() { alert(\"You clicked the map.\");}\n" ... end then in my controller added: require "fns" class GeomapController < ApplicationController def index fstring = Fns::Fclick ... end but when I run the server I get: uninitialized constant Fns::Fclick what am I missing?

Line 0 Do you have any idea how to fix JS problems, or should I disable the ads in development?
