  • Refactor instance declaration from try block to above try block in a method

    Hi, Often I find myself coming across code like this: try { StreamWriter strw = new StreamWriter(); } However, there is no reference to the object outside the scope of the try block. How could I refactor (extract to field in Visual Studio says there is no field or something) the statement in the try block so that it is declared above the try block so I can use it anywhere in the method?     I'm trying to visit a page with cucumber, with: visit new_video_path but I get this error: undefined method `episode_id' for #<Video:0x22df8dc> (ActionView::TemplateError) On line #19 of app/views/videos/_form.html.erb ... 19: <%= select(:video, :episode_id, @episodes.collect {|e| [ e.title, e.id ] }, { :include_blank => true }) %> It loads fine in the browser, and the form processes fine too. What did I do wrong?

    Hi I am working on actionscript to generate a SWF dynamically using JSON data coming from an HTTP request. I receive the data on creationComplete and try to generate a tree like structure. I don’t create the whole tree at the same time. I create 2 levels, level 1 and level 2. My goal is to attach custom events on the panels which represent tree nodes. When users click the panels, it dispatches custom events and try to generate the next level. So, it goes like this : On creation complete - get JSON- create top tow levels - click on level 2- create the level 2 and level 3 - click on level 3- create level 3 and 4. …and so on and so on. I am attaching my code with this email.     Hi guys, I want to override the validation_errors() method of the form helper in CodeIgniter for one controller only, so that it will display a single error message (as a sentence in plain english) instead of the detailed line item summary. I've tried defining a validation_errors() function in my controller, which is what I usually do with Silverstripe's Sapphire framework, but this won't with CI. What's the best way to override methods for a case by case basis?

    Hey, I noticed that when I do this : [myParser setDelegate:self]; it works :D (even if I didn't add the code in the header file ... you know, the <delegateStuff, delegateOtherStuff> in the interface declaration) When are you supposed to modify the header file to make your delegate work ?     From a data frame with timestamped rows (strptime results), what is the best method for aggregating statistics for intervals? Intervals could be an hour, a day, etc. I've found the aggregate function, but that doesn't help with assigning each row to an interval. I'm planning on adding a column to the data frame that denotes interval and using that with aggregate, but if there's a better solution it'd be great to hear it. Thanks for any pointers!

    My iPhone app allows for users to type in their usernames and passwords so that they can login. When they login once, their usernames and passwords are saved so that users don't have to type it in again. My problem is, when the app starts again, it immediately starts logging them in, leaving the interface completely black. How would I go about calling my login method AFTER all the UI methods are loaded?

    How can I check if an anonymous object that was created as such: var myObj = { prop1: 'no', prop2: function () { return false; } } does indeed have a prop2 defined? prop2 will always be defined as a function, but for some objects it is not required and will not be defined. I tried what was suggested here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/595766/how-to-determine-if-native-javascript-object-has-a-property-method but I don't think it works for anonymous objects .

  • Error when calling Render method on reporting services 2008

    Hi, I've moved my web application to a new server, when it calls the render method on the reporting services 2008 web service it brings back the error "Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response". It works fine on my development machine. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Many thanks, Chris.
