  • Running a Java program with input from a file

    I am writing a program that reads the input from a file and then prints it to the screen. When I run it without taking the input from the file, it works perfectly fine. However, every time I try to run it from the file it gives me an "Exception in thread "main" java.util.NoSuchElementException: No line found at" error that occurs every place the input is suppose to be read. I have no idea what is going on.

    Under what circumstances would java.util.zip.ZipFile.close() throw an IOException? Its method signature indicates that it can be thrown, but from the source code there doesn't seem to be any place where this could happen, unless it's in native code. What corrective action, if any, could be taken at the point where that exception is caught?

  • Hibernate ScrollableResults Do Not Return The Whole Set of Results

    Some of the queries we run have 100'000+ results and it takes forever to load them and then send them to the client. So I'm using ScrollableResults to have a paged results feature. But we're topping at roughly 50k results (never exactly the same amount of results). I'm on an Oracle9i database, using the Oracle 10 drivers and Hibernate is configured to use the Oracle9 dialect. I tried with the latest JDBC driver (ojdbc6.jar) and the problem was reproduced. We also followed some advice and added an ordering clause, but the problem was reproduced. However, neither of these happen. It does, however, vibrate, as instructed. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here? I've looked through the permissions that I can give the app in the AndroidManifest.xml file, but I can't see one for letting it flash the light or make sounds.

  • Storing Result set into an array

    i know this should be simpel and im probably staring straight at the problem but once again im stuck and need the help of the code gurus. im trying too take one row from a column in jdbc, and put them in an array. i do this as follows: public void fillContactList() { createConnection(); try { Statement stmt = conn.createStatement(); ResultSet namesList = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT name FROM Users"); try { while (namesList.next()) { contactListNames[1] = namesList.getString(1); System.out.println("" + contactListNames[1]); } } catch(SQLException q) { } conn.commit(); stmt.close(); conn.close(); } catch(SQLException e) { } creatConnection is an already defined method that does what it obviously does. i creat my result set while theres another one, i store the string of that column into an array. then print it out for good measure. too make sure its there. the problem is that its storing the entire column into contactListNames[1] i wanted to make it store column1 row 1 into [1] then column 1 row 2 into [2] i know i could do this with a loop. but i dont know too take only one row at a time from a single column. any ideas? p.s ive read the api, i jsut cant see anything that fits.

  • Passing bundle to activity set as singletask

    So I have a MapActivity that runs an asynchtask that occasionally updates what exactly it's displaying on the map (via a string). I originally pass this string in from the intent when the activity is first created. And then if you click on one of the drawables on the map, it opens a new activity, which can then create a new mapview (same class) with a different string setting. The problem I have is that I only want one instance of the mapview to be running at once. Thus I set android:launchmode="singletask" in the manifest. This works in that it brings the mapactivity to the front, but is there any way to send it a new intent bundle to get a new setting for the string it needs? I tried regetting the extras from the bundle, but it seems to retain the old bundle, not the new intent that was passed to it. I'm not sure I want to do startActivityForResult because the 2nd activity may or may not want to update the original activity. I hope that made sense. I can post code if necessary, but I think that should explain my situation.

    I'm trying to connect a VPN connection (on Mac OS X 10.6.6) through a Check point java applet. The first time it ran I chose NOT to give it access to my files and such and now every time I try to lunch the applet it tells me too "Please confirm the use of this Java applet and then refresh or reopen the window." But I don't know how to confirm it nor delete the applet. How can I change the permissions afterwards and where can I find java applets installed on my computer? Update: This turns out to be a problem in Firefox. Cleared cookies, Java cache and certificate in Safari and it seems to work.

    I'm getting an odd error when I try and run this program. The class compiles fine into multiple .class files and I compiled it last week (before editing it) just fine. But now, I see this: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassFormatError: Extra bytes at the end of class file blah/hooplah/fubar/nonsense/IndexId$Transaction From what I've looked up, Java 6 build 1.5 could fix it since it allows extra bytes at the end of class files (I think), but I would much rather use build 1.6. Any clear ideas on how this happened or how to fix it?

    I'm trying to compile a Flex application in Ant (no problems here, I can do it fine). When I try to publish the contents of the project to a Windows network drive (known as "Z:\" on my system), I get the following LAME exception thrown by Java/Ant: BUILD FAILED C:\workspace\bkeller\build.xml:42: Failed to copy C:\workspace\bkeller\web\assets\text\biography.html to Z:\web\bkeller\assets\text\biography.html due to java.io.FileNotFoundException Z:\web\bkeller\assets\text\biography.html (The system cannot find the file specified) Which kind of sucks. I can't find any way to get rid of this problem and it's pretty crucial to my project that I get this working. I know for sure that I have read/write/execute permissions on the network drive, I can create/edit/delete files on the drive just fine through Windows explorer. Drive Z is a network mount to virtualbox, allowing me to get access to my host OS, Ubuntu. I've double checked that it has write permissions. Any ideas?

I think this is something every framework that uses annotations could benefit from but I can seem to find something like this on the Internet.     I am exposing a web service using CXF. I am using the @XmlID and @XmlIDREF JAXB annotations to maintain referential integrity of my object graph during marshalling/unmarshalling. The WSDL rightly contains elements with the xs:id and xs:idref attributes to represent this. On the server side, everything works really nicely. Instances of Types annotated with @XmlIDREF are the same instances (as in ==) to those annotated with the @XmlID annotation. However, when I generate a client with WSDLToJava, the references (those annotated with @XmlIDREF) are of type java.lang.Object. Is there any way that I can customise the JAXB bindings such that the types of references are either java.lang.String (to match the ID of the referenced type) or the same as the referenced type itself?

    I need to integrate an off-the-shelf Windows application with a Java application. At a few key points, I need the Windows application to send an "event" and some data to the Java application. The Windows application anticipated this need, and can be configured to "Poke a DDE Item", "Set an OLE Auto-Property" or "Write an OPC Item". I'm already using JACOB to call COM methods and set COM properties on a COM object. However, I'm guessing that's pretty unrelated to these "event" notification capabilities. Anyone have any experience calling FROM a Windows application to a "DDE Item", "OLE Auto-Property" or "OPC Item" that's actually in a JVM? Any pointers, advice, etc, would be appreciated.

These modes allows to call methods with known signature. We talk of strongly typed language. This allows to to make some checks directly at compile time. On the other side, the dynamic languages use dynamic types. So we can call a method unknown at the compile time, but that’s completely impossible with the Java bytecode. What am I missing?
